Spellcheck based on keyboard layout? You have got ...

So I am a software developper in The Netherlands using Skype. Unfortunately I forgot to uncheck the automatic update thingy, which gives me the new version.
In this you have added some sort of auto-correct. Since my keyboard is VS International (needed for easy coding because of issues while typing ' with a Dutch layout), it is horrid. My language is set to Dutch, but somehow Skype seems to feel that the keyboardlayout determines what is typed. My Dutch text is automauled into something resembling english.
I can not turn this off, I can not configure this. Please fix it. At the very least make it possible for me to uncheck it.

What makes it extra horrible is that the options are THERE. I can set the skype language from the extra, language option in the chatwindow: but this is not he language used.
There is also a checkbox in the advanced settings: "Use spellcheck" but this is disabled and an extra text prompts me to disable spellcheck in my OS instead. It is utterly infuriating. Do you people not have any decent usability testers? Or are you just not listening to them?
I have reverted to the old version.

  • 5.1 sound requires $295 further purchase? You have GOT to be kidding!

So after forking out a fortune to purchase Adobe Production Premium, I discover that after all the hoopla, I cannot do 5.1 sound with SD output unless I spend a FURTHER $295! What a RIPOFF! That was never stated in any of the reviews or discussions about this product. I am VERY DISSATISFIED. All the advertising says '5.1 sound, no worries!' what a lie. Do I get a refund? Fat chance. This is, without the slightest doubt, the last Adobe package I will ever buy. Talk about misleading advertising.

Colin Brougham - I did plenty of reseach - for months. I even bought a computer specifically designed for CS 5.5 (although the phrase 'Adobe-certified card for capture and export to tape for SD/HD workflows' had everyone stumped, even my computer technician, as nowhere does Adobe list such 'certified' cards. Graphics cards, yes, but capture cards, no. I suspect it's a generic meaningless phrase that it tropped out if something doesn't work "well you should have got an Adobe-certified capture card" even though such a creature is never identified).
The fact that Premiere requires Surcode is never mentioned in any Adobe documentation - or review fo that matter. To say there are forum items on surcode is irrelevant if I am not informed that I need it in the first place. It could be called Fobbledanger for all I care. Nowhere does Adobe mention that it is required - and Adobe admits this in this thread.
'If you'd have asked that question here explicitly, you would have gotten the answer'
Again, how am I supposed to ask a question that I don't know is required? All Adobe stuff says it handles 5.1 fine. To say you can mix but omit that you can't export is misleading and to be honest, stupid.
'Prove that. 5.1 audio is supported for import,' Proven in this thread.
'I'd like to see the advertising that says that 5.1 is supported for export.' Interestingly enough, Adobe documentation says NOTHING about export - but some on, the company makes many claims for 5.1 mixing and compatibility - the ability to export is clearly implied. They don't even put an asterix on any of their pages.
One could take the view that this is deliberately misleading, as saying you can mix 5.1 but you simply cannot export it completely negates the purpose for which you are mixing. It is no different to advertising a colour TV that can receive colour transmission, no worries, it just shows in black and white (unless you get a $300 add-on).
So all your queries are answered and proven.
John T Smith - 'You might go here, with your links, and tell them what SHOULD be on those pages'
Thanks for you comment, and if Adobe wants to pay me $110 an hour I'd be happy to rewrite their material for them, however until that time it's not my business to do their work for them (especially as this seems to be deliberate, so they'll ignore me anywat).
One could take the view that should someone be of the mind to initiate a class action against such deliberate misleading behaviour, not only would it win hands down but should someone be of a mind to do so one could take the view that many people would be of a mind to join it.
All I want is to be able to export in 5.1 in any mode I choose which is clearly implied in all Adobe's advertising material. How about it, Adobe?

  • Fcp to color how you have got color to work

Hi Guys I am having problems in getting the work flow with color to work and keep asking question on how to fix it , so i am thinking is there any body who would like to share how they got color to work and what setting you use, what formats ect. so we could get a list of working mac that every body can see. so please if you are up and running and your wrok flow works please tell me and all the other just how you have done it
    Thanks

    Hi Trevor,
    welcome here!
Maybe your message tells us more about some frustrations you have been experiencing rather than the actual technical glithces you have encountered.
Therefore, I start with a very symple reply.
When I need Color to grade my video (usually DVCPRO HD) I simply go to file>send to>Color.
I colour grade, render and send it back to FCP.
    Never had problems with that.
To use Color you may need (recommendable) dual core intel processor or higher, 4GB RAM or higher, X1900 graphics card, High Def. external monitor. An external or internal drive capable to let you edit on the fly.
I noticed that you are using Leopard.
Issues related to the new OS with FCPstudio2 are quite common and we are all taking notice of it.
Leopard was not specifically designed for FCP users so those and other issues were more or less predictable.
    Hope this helps!

  • QUESTION: What is the fastest rate you have got for commercial invoices?

    Folks,
I am looking for inputs on high volume "invoice in a box" implementations. If you have achieved high volume shipping, with commercial invoices, I would like to hear from you.
    Thanks.
    Kannan

    Hi Kannan,
I have seen in one of my implemenation experiences that the client does shipping of approx 350-400 deliveries per day. They print 2 commercial invoices per delivery.

  • You have GOT to be kidding me - GLOSSY?

Is anyone else as outraged as I am about the glossy screens on the new MacBooks? This is an otherwise PERFECT machine with lots of new features, and Apple's decision to use a glossy screen will have me scratching my head for quite some time. Wow.
Unless you are constantly using the new MacBook under low-light conditions (ok, pretty much darkness), the amount of glare that occurs on these glossy displays is UNbelievable. Forget watching a DVD or editing photos under normal lighting conditions. However, it's perfect if you want to fix your hair while checking your email.
Hey Apple, how about the OPTION of glossy and matte? I am a huge fan of this company, its software and hardware. I promote them all the time to my friends, family and colleagues. But I have to say this was a really, really bad decision to go glossy-only on this new line. I am disappointed.
What's next, the MacBook Pros and Apple displays going to glossy screens? We really NEED to have an option here. I'm not trying to start a flame here on this board, but I really hope Apple re-thinks this decision.
    G5 Dual 1.8 / AluBook 1.67 / PM 933   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

It's a different story when you're viewing the screen
at an angle and this is one of the issues when a
sales person is showing you all the new features and
you're standing to one side. If I turn the laptop at
an angle I can see a lot of reflections.
I'm glad you brought this up. I promise I'll shutup for a while after this.
So, let's say I have a client come by to check out some clips, some photos, a new database screen, whatever. She pulls up a seat next to me to review and discuss the project, and I'm driving. Right now on my non-glossy laptop screen, this isn't a problem, because -
We have a WIDE ANGLE OF VIEW on a matte screen...
So on a glossy screen, I'm now forced to mirror out to another monitor or projector. Or, use / buy a non-glossy laptop. Or, let the client sit in my lap (not very professional).
Just illustrating some real-world scenarios. And I'm sure the "well just by a Pro model" answer will come up, but to me that is not a valid or helpful suggestion. What if for my next laptop I want a compact black 13" MacBook, and not a [more expensive, larger] Pro model?
We need to be offered a CHOICE, that's all I ask.

  • "You have GOT to be KIDDING ME!"

Alright so recently i received a Brand new 13 inch 2.0 Ghz Mac Book. Just finished work and was on it right before i left.
I had installed the " Microsoft Office 2008 Mac edition" on my laptop and it had installed somewhat of an Update earlier that i had cancelled about half way or so.
I got home, turned it on, and now .. OF COURCE.. its showing me the blues....
    and this spinny wheel..
    that just flashes at me..

i just wanna use my wacom tablet..
    can someone please help me?
    I tried restarting it..
Letting it sit for a while..
taking the battery out, holding the power button, putting it back in..
i dunno what else to do..

Simplest thing to do, since the machine's new, is to use the disks that came with the machine and restore it to the factory specs. The manuals that came with the machine should describe the procedure. Other info is at http://www.apple.com/support/leopard/install/.
Once you've restored the software and gone through the setup again, get a bootable, external HD (preferably FireWire), and make a bootable backup/clone before updating, upgrading, or installing other software and ensure that it's bootable and works like the original. That allows you to revert to the previous good state without having to reinstall anything. See these for details:

  • Ok, you have got to be kidding

Since I can't use KXProject in Vista64, I'm stuck with the a certain bloated piece of crap they call Creative drivers. What I need to know is, is there a way to route the center channel to push out the same stereo signal as the regular 2. speaker out(green jack)? I want to connect my headphones like I do with KXProject, which also allows me to control the volume individually on the speakers and the headphones, is this a lost cause?
Is there no easy way to do this? Does Creative want me to buy that front panel crap just to use my headphones and speakers at the same time? Honest to Peter Griffin, if this is the case, I would take the Audigy2Zs out my computer and tell them to shove it up their ass.
The only saving grace for Creative is KXProject, I'm hoping that dude comes out with 64bit drivers.

One thing you can try: set Windows to 2-channel and Creative to 4-channel, then use front for speakers and rear for headphones (or vice versa). Then enable front-to-rear cloning -- I don't remember where that setting is.

  • How can I tell what keyboard layout I have without opening packaging?

I ordered a Macbook Air with UK keyboard but the box label has the following code:
    MBAir 11.6/1.7/8GB/256Flash/USA/SWM
Does this mean it is a USA keyboard?
I don't want to open it if it needs to go back for exchange.

  • Keyboard layout changing question

I use three different keyboard layouts: English, Spanish and Bulgarian. Back in Windows I added Spanish as a variant of English and used ctrl + shift to change English/Bulgarian and alt + shift to change English/Spanish. Now when I moved to linux I want to setup my layouts in a similar way. Is there any way to do it?

Do you use gnome? If you do, you can just go to System>>Preferences>>Keyboard and click on the Layouts tab. You can then add layouts from there. In the Layout Options tab, under the Group Shift/Lock behaviour section, you can select how you want to be able to change groups.. But, I'm not sure if you can make it so that one sequence changes it from english to bulgarian and one changes it from english to spanish... I do know that you can have say alt+shift have it cycle through english, bulgarian, and english.. You can also right click on the panel, hit add to panel, find Keyboard Indicator, and hit add.. That will add a little thing that says what keyboard layout you are using, and you can just click on it to change to another one..
If you don't use gnome I'm afraid I can't help you...
    Hope that helps

  • How to Make a Keyboard Layout for X11/OpenOffice

While OpenOffice has a setting to use standard OS X keyboard layouts, you may find that some of these do not work correctly, especially if deadkeys are involved. In that case you will need to create a new layout in the form of a keymap file, which you place in your home folder and invoke when needed via the command "xmodmap mykeymap" in an xterm (or by putting the same line in some config file).
You keymap file should just contain the minimum necessary modifications of the default X11 map, which you can see by doing the command "xmodmap -pke | less" in an xterm (after making sure the preference item for using OS X layouts is turned off).
Some fiddling with the entries of your file may be necessary, as both X11 and apps that use it have quirks and bugs of various sorts. Below is the file I made to do Vietnamese in OpenOffice as an example:
    keycode 26 = abreve
    keycode 27 = 0x00E2
    keycode 28 = 0x00EA
    keycode 29 = 0x00F4
    keycode 30 = dead_hook
    keycode 31 = dead_grave
    keycode 33 = dead_belowdot
    keycode 34 = dead_tilde
    keycode 36 = dead_acute
    keycode 37 = U0111
    keycode 38 = U01A1
    keycode 41 = U01B0

This is a feature Apple should definitely add customization to on OS X.
You can make custom keyboard layouts that include any characters you want using Ukelele.
    http://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts/page.php?siteid=nrsi&itemid=ukelele
I doubt Apple is going to incorporate this into OS X, but you can suggest it here:

  • Remove foreign language keyboard layout

How do i remove à keyboard layout?

Have you went to Settings>General>Keyboards>International Keyboards and tried to delete the unwanted keyboards? You only have the delete option if you have more than one keyboard.

  • Keyboard layout changed by itself...

The keyboard of my MacBook changed by itself.
I have a US keyboard, now i do not know to what it changed.
I never connected an external keyboard or even changed the setting.
Since then, the NumLock does not lit anymore as well.
Anybody has an idea what it can be???
MacBook Core Duo 2Ghz 1Gb RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi arprods
I read you similar post ealier, and looks like it hasn't solved yet.
    Just to kill my couriousity:
Did you do another installation or you still using the original installation out from the box.
If you did do another OS installation which country you select and which keyboard layout you choose?
Try to go to system preference > Keyboard and mouse > Keyboard short cut > Restore default.
system preference > international > input menu > click on :use one input menu in all document
(US -- keyboard -- Unicode should be the only on that checked)
system preference > format > Region : United States
    currency > US dollar
Hope that will sort things out.
    Good Luck.
