Spellcheck for Auctiva

Auctiva's spellchecker is beyond mediocre. Because of that I downloaded Spellbound and was quite happy with its performance.
As you know - Spellbound doesn't work with Firefox v4 and so I reloaded v3.6. That doesn't solve my problem as other things no longer work with 3.6 and so I had to reinstall v4.
Firefox spellchecker doesn't work within the Auctiva item description box. I have a US dictionary loaded.
Spellbound gave me an icon on my toolbar that I could click when I was in the Auctiva item description box. Worked like a charm. No waiting - just quick straightforward spell checking.
Any suggestions?

See if changing the '''Value''' of that pref to '''2''' helps you at Auctiva. I don't use that website so I am guessing this might fix it.
Type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit Enter. <br />
''If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.'' <br />
Filter = '''layout.spellcheckDefault''' <br /> Right-click that pref and select '''Modify''' and insert '''2''' in the box and hit OK. Then restart Firefox and see if it works.

  • IOS 6, spellchecking for more then 1 language??

    Hello
On my Mac i am able to write in more then one language and have spellchecking active.
On my ipHone 4S with iOS 6.1, i am able to have the spellchecking for my main language (German), but if i want also use the English (UK) and Dutch language i got no checking and suggestions for this.
When i now write in another language I got idiot suggestions in German and every word i write i need the push the "x" to ignore its suggestions
Is their a way to get this working?
    Gérard

In iOS, spellcheck follows the keyboard.  So you activate the keyboards for the languages you want and then switch among them via the "globe" key to get the appropriate spellcheck.

  • Training Spellcheck for acronyms

Can someone point me to Apple's guidance for training Spellcheck?
In iOS 7, one could train spellcheck to recognize acronyms by, e.g., typing 'My Story (MS)' so that when you subsequently typed 'ms' it would appear as 'MS'.
In iOS 8, this works occasionally only and often forgets. (Similarly, training QuickType by selecting text and double-tapping the shift key to get 'all caps' suggestions, is tedious and works only some of the time.) I have tried a number of methods but only with partial success along various paths.
How does one train the spellchecker for acronyms in iOS 8?

I wish to have English UK as the default. I'm surprised that it defaulted to American when I'm resident in Ireland and purchased online through my Apps store which usually is Country specific and should have selected British spellings for everything.
I've found some info about Information / Text / More and selecting the language but this doesn't change the default. Also, I'm syncing with Pages on my iPad which doesn't seem to have any language settings....
Thanks for any help you can give,
    George.

  • SpellCheck for 2 languages at ones

Why none of the word processing apps (Pages, Keynote, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, TextEdit)
can't check 2 languages at a time. It is crucial for millions of people living outside US and who speak at least 2 languages. So they have to choose in System preferences every time either English or French, or German etc. to be the top one.

Me was just wondering, did you find a russian spell check that works on a intel mac either in Pages
Does the Russian spell checking dictionary you see when you go in Pages to Inspector > Text > More > Languages not work for you?
With 10.6 you can also try the one for OpenOffice 2 on this page:
    http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Dictionaries
(You put the .dic and .aff files in Library/Spelling)

  • Spellcheck in Safari java applets no longer working

I just switched my Powermac G4 to Leopard from Tiger, updated everything (all software and java via software updater) and now check spelling while typing doesn't work anymore in Java applets, Why is this? is this a Safari 3 or Leopard issue?
any ideas or suggestions would be helpfully in fixing this issue for me... thanks in advance!

I think I've solved the problem... but I believe it not to be the best solution, seeing as I had to use J2SE 1.4.2 instead of J2SE 5.0 to solve the issue of enabling spellchecking for java applets.
Anyone knows a way in which I can get spellchecking enabled using J2SE 5.0 ?
    Thanks again.

  • Who changed my Firefox spellchecker dictionary?

Well, tonight I finally found the answer to something that's been puzzling me for months ... but that answer raises a further question.
Some time ago, I noticed that when I posted to Facebook, my writings were getting spellchecked for what appeared to be British English (oh, BTW, I'm American). For example, if I typed "color," or "aluminum," the word would be red-squiggly-underlined, but not so for "colour" or "aluminium." I thought it was a Facebook feature (or bug), but tonight I noticed the same thing was happening with my e-mail. So I realized it must be something on my system. So I checked my environment variables, and found:
    $ echo $LC_ALL
    $ echo $LC_MESSAGES
    $ echo $LANG
    en_US.utf8
... pretty much as it should be. Then I went to about:config in Firefox, and lo and behold, spellchecker.dictionary was set to en_ZW. Oh. Zimbabwean English?! And supposedly, this was a "user set" value. So I'm wondering how this might have happened. Yes, it's conceivable I might have done it--that I was just playing around one night. But I have no memory of having done so. And, yeah, I'm 50 years old and usually don't get enough sleep, so who knows? But I certainly have no good reason to use Zimbabwean English, and as far as I can recall it never occurred to me until tonight that such a dialect existed.
So if it wasn't me, then who? My wife certainly wouldn't have known how to do that, nor would it be like her to play a joke like that. My 11-year-old son? Hmm. I could see him doing that kind of thing, but I don't think he knows how.
Okay then, maybe somebody hacked into my system? Not impossible, but it would be kind of strange if they hacked in just to change my dictionary setting. Remember, this has been happening for several months, and I haven't noticed anything else unusual.
So, my question is, other than me or someone impersonating me logging into my system and changing that parameter, is there any other way it could have happened?

http://www.archlinux.org/news/initscrip … -required/ maybe? Not that I see how it would be possible but if Zimbabwe invaded US ... ;-)

    2. How do i find a good spellchecker for my browser version ?

You are using quite an old version, Firefox 3.6, the latest release is Firefox 3.6.15. You can get it by selecting "Check for updates" in the Help menu. Firefox 4.0 is due out next week.
Firefox has a built in spell checker, for derails on using it see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Using+the+spell+checker

  • Medical dictionary or spellchecker?

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a medical dictionary or spellchecker for pages? I have two for Word (Dorland's and Stedman's) - is there any way to add these where they will be recognized by Pages (or the rest of Apple's spellchecker-dependent apps?)
I use Mellel and Notebook, as well as Pages, and would prefer not to have to use Word for my writing needs. Too darn slow and, well, general uck.
    Thanks!

  • Pages cannot offer spellcheck of Norsk Bokmål (norwegian)

I am disappointed, I just bought and installed iWorks (1000NOK) on my MBP and I deleted Office for Mac. Office for Mac gave me spellcheck for Norsk Bokmål (well, I needed Jalingo to import the Norsk Bokmål dictionary to Office Word). Now, with Pages, when opening a doc in norwegian (norsk bokmål) every word is underlined as being unknown, because Pages cannot recognize norsk bokmål.
My MBP runs OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard. In Systempreferences, Languages, Norsk Bokmål is an option, SO WHY CANNOT NORSK BOKMÅL BE AN OPTION IN PAGES? I check the languages in Inspector but norwegian (both norsk bokmål and nynorsk) is missing, what a shame. I suppose Apple earns a lot of money from the norwegian market (I myself bought iPod classic, Macbook, iPhone3GS, MacbookPro, software and i will buy iPhone4, I spent a lot of money and I love Apple products!) So Apple, can you please ad more languages to Pages, at least ad norsk bokmål. If you have the norwegian dictionary in MacOS X it should be easy for your professional developers.
Is there any other way to import norsk bokmål dictionary to Pages?
    Regards Martin

In Systempreferences, Languages, Norsk Bokmål is an option
That setting is irrelevant for whether spellchecking available. If you go to system prefs/language & text/text/spelling, you will see there what is possible.
Is there any other way to import norsk bokmål dictionary to Pages?
Yes, you can add dictionaries to OS X/Pages either via CocoAspell or using those for OpenOffice 2 (not 3).

  • How do I get spellcheck in spanish

How do I get spellcheck to work when I'm typing in Spanish on my ipad 2?

Thank you Tom, for confirming my expectation.
I have used the link you provided to request Apple to implement spellcheck for Norwegian language.
However, if I am the only one to request this, then I am afraid that the issue get low priority from Apple.
I therefore ask all who miss this to request spellcheck for Norwegian language on iPad.
