Spending Limit urgently needed,

Question

My client's website at an Azure competitor was hacked (PHP code injection vulnerability), and burned through $400 bucks of bandwidth charges within a few hours, luckily this was during business hours and they quickly caught it and stopped it, but now they're
looking for advice. Had it happened over a holiday or vacation time, it would have cost tens of thousands of dollars. The cloud provider refused to waive the charges, but gave a 50% discount.
Does Azure provide a mechanism for placing an overall corporate-level spending limit on the account to avoid this kind of potential disaster? If not, what's the best-practice to mitigate risk? An attack on an unattended server can quickly bankrupt a small
business.

Hi,
When you create a Microsoft Azure subscription through a member offer--
the MSDN benefit or the Microsoft Partner Network Cloud Essentials program, for example--a
spending limit of 0 is turned on automatically. The spending limit helps ensure you don’t get charged when the credits on your subscription run out. The spending limit feature
isn’t available for other subscription types such as the Free Trial offer, pay-as-you-go subscriptions, and commitment plans.
However, if you are the Account Administrator for a Windows Azure subscription, you can set up email alerts when a subscription reaches a spending threshold you choose. Alerts are currently not available for subscriptions associated with a commitment
