    Sorvolando su questo mistero, ho deciso allora di ripristinarlo ad iOS 5.0.1, ma poco prima di iniziare il ripristino (sullo schermo dell'ipad compare la mela e sotto la barra di caricamento vuota) itunes restituisce l'errore 9 e non mi permette di ripristinare...
    Vi anticipo già che ho provato di tutto:
    -Ho disabilitato il firewall di osx
    -Ho provato porte usb e cavi dock/usb differenti
    -Ho tentato di ripristinare sia da recovery che da dfu mode
    -Ho provato anche da pc windows
    Tutto inutile!
    Qualche idea?

    E' molto caldo ?  In funzione da ore in ambiente ristretto ? Potrebbe essere solo necessario lasciarlo raffreddare.
    Di solito se il mac è vecchio e/o in ambiente molto polveroso può peggiorare il raffreddamento. Sarebbe il caso di pulire aspirando dalle fessure e magari aprendo il portellino della memoria.
    Oppure resettare la SMC.

  • 10.6.8 Wifi Mac Mini Core Solo Problems

    Hi All,
    I have had my beloved Mac Mini core solo (1.5ghz) since 2007 and have had regular upgrades to keep it alive (upgraded hard drive, ram etc.).
    A couple of days ago I upgraded the airport card - it previously was only 802.11 a/b/g, but I now have the atheros 9280 802.11 a/b/g/n successfully installed into the machine.
    The main reason for doing this is that my previous airport card just never seemed to work at all; I have an iphone and ipad and they both successfully connect to my Orange livebox router with no problems whatsoever, yet my Mac Mini did not connect at all having tried everything I can. Therefore my final solution was to arrange an update of the airport card to the new atheros one suggested by my local Apple dealer.
    I brought the Mac home, and tried to attahc to my wifi router to immediate success. It had full signal strength and was working flawlessly. I then turned the machine off, went out for a while and then came home to find it was not working again and kept searching for the wifi router and asking for constant passwords. After a long time, it seemed to work again but after I turned the machine off it lost the settings (depsite me asking network settings to save via the locked button) and I am constantly repeating this process.
    I am therefore wondering if anyone can help. The atheros 9280 airport card information is as follows (from the system profiler):

    Just to also add that its Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Intel Mac Mini core 1.5ghz solo, and my Orange Wifi router is quite old (around 2006) so supports a/b/g - I was thinking that this may be the fault but why would all my other apple systems have no problems with this connection?
    Any help would be really appreciated as I'm going a little nuts here!

    I'd say that SL is more efficient on a machine it was made to run on. Apple didn't exclude the single core Intel processor, probably because they didn't have to change their code like they would have for a PPC processor but part of the efficiency is it's ability to split services to the separate cores in the CPU. You only have one, so that part of the improvement is of no use. All of the processes the OS handles and splits to multiple CPU cores are worthless and your programs will just have to wait until the CPU has time for you.
    Meanwhile, the programs you are running are more powerful and provide higher quality and really need the extra core. The speed of the ram, the buss, and the hard drive are not as fast as your MacBook either. All of this data has to be moved around quite a bit from the drive to ram and then back to the drive.
    Christmas is coming
    WinXP will run on a 600Mhz PII processor with 128MB's of PC100 ram, but you wouldn't want to. It's not a lot of fun to work with or work on.
    Unless there is some whiz bang program or technology that you need from SL, I'd take the machine back to Leopard or even Tiger, which it probably ran pretty well.

    I basically managed to learn how to invert parameters which allows me to be as default in the clean guitar channel and if I switch the first button on the midi foot controller I switch to crunch, but at this point I tryied so hard to programm the second and third button to switch, only through a button in one step, to a third channel for distorsion or a 4th channel for solo guitar but I couldn't figured out how this work can be done!
    I would appreciate if anyone could help or share this experience with others who are experiencing the same problem.

    Though all that said, i would have NO idea on how to set it up.
    However, would it be also possible to link up the Bose Solo!? I know it's a long shot of asking, i just want to see if anyone here knows a thing or two about it!

  • ITunes wouldn't accept my solo card, then took out money from my account.

    I recently switched from a switch card to a solo card for my purchases on the store, and whenever I entered my details it said that they were wrong and kept asking me for details which weren’t required for my solo card, e.g. Issue number. Well I tried re-entering the details about 8 times; it kept saying that my details were wrong and that it was rejecting them. Well I later looked at my online bank account and 8 lots of £1.58 had been transferred, and it doesn’t say anything about who it was sent too, I would think it was iTunes taking away my money as £1.58 is the equivalent to two songs, which is very suspicious, but the strange thing is that the songs I wanted to buy came to a different amount to the money that was taken out. My details still won’t enter correctly and I don’t want to risk entering them any more as I don’t want to lose anymore money, im 16yrs old. I earlier bought an iPod shuffle from the online store and the money that was withdrawn for that didn’t have any description either.
    Any explaination as to why my money was taken??!!

  • Can I install Snow Leopard on a Mac Mini 1.5 Solo?

    I bought a used Mac Mini. It is a 2006 I believe. It is a 1.5 Solo Core Intel. 2GB RAM. 60GB HDD.
    I bought this for my kids, and wanted to wipe the drive and do a fresh install to ensure there would be no unexpected material to arise from a previous owner. I was given a Snow Leopard MAC OS X V10.6.3 Retail disk with the Mini. By starting from the install disk, I was able to wipe the drive. I did a simple zero data erase. Went smooth. I then started the install of SL. Chose language. Agreed to terms. Chose drive to install on. Told me it had 42 minutes to install. It then went to an error screen telling me the installation failed. Restart and try again. I have been through multiple attenpts at this.
    I then decide to try my Leopard MAC OS X v10.5.4 Family Pack install disk that I have. I go through the same process to get an error telling me it could not install "essentials" and that I need to contact the manufacturer of the software.
    Just out of morbid curiousity, I decided to put my SL disk in and give it one more try. Now when I get to the selct a disk to install on, it tells me there is a recoverable OS from a previous install that can be restored. Click customize to change install or click continue to recover the previous install. I got to 35 minutes and received the error screen. I have been thoughtful enough to include a picture of the error message I received.
    It seems I have hit a wall. I am a mac guy. iPhone 4 / iPhone 5 / Mac G4 PPC Dual 1Ghz 2GB RAM / MacBook Pro 13" 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo 4GB RAM / now this Mac Mini 1.5Ghz Solo Core 2GB RAM and a few others I have sold off over the years. I love them. Always have. But I cannot lie. I am ready to throw this Mini through a wall.
    Am I missing something here?

    There is no reliable way to test RAM short of a dedicated tester. There are software RAM testers that you can try - TechToolPro can do RAM tests:

    but they can often find only the most obvious problems, and if there is such a problem it usually prevents the RAM test from running at all. It's worth trying, though, as it may turn up useful information.
    As to the logic board, TechToolPro can do some testing there as well, and authorized Apple service centers have additional tools. There is no single "tell tale sign" of a logic board problem since, given the many different functions the logic board performs, there can be many different symptoms.
    If things work properly with an external drive but not with an internal drive, I'd guess a problem with the SATA controller chain on the logic board, but that's just a guess. But if that is the case, then a logic board replacement will be necessary, and as you say that's probably not worth it for a Core Solo mini.

    Logic Pro, Express: Solo Safe mode may not remain disabled for a particular channel strip
    Symptoms
    In certain projects, "Solo Safe" mode for a channel strip may enable each time you load the project, even after you disable it and save the project.
    Resolution
    When a channel strip in Logic is "Solo Safe", it remains audible, even when other channel strips are soloed. Solo Safe is indicated by a diagonal red line through the solo button on a channel strip.
    You can manually toggle the solo safe status of a channel strip by Control-clicking its solo button. There are times when you may find that a particular audio channel strip in a project reverts to solo safe mode when you load the project, even after you manually disable solo safe. Here is why that may happen and steps you can take to prevent it from occurring.
    A Logic project contains a special audio channel strip used for pre-listening to audio in the Sample Edit window, Audio Bin, and Loop Browser. When you create a Logic project from one of the factory templates, this channel strip is assigned to "Audio 256". This channel strip stays in solo safe mode so that you can always preview audio. The image below shows the channel strip for a new, empty project.
    If there is no audio channel strip in a project assigned to "Audio 256", Logic will use the highest-numbered available audio channel for pre-listening. When the project is loaded, that channel strip will be put into solo safe mode. You may find this happens in older projects that you open in Logic 8, or in cases where you have deleted the "Audio 256" channel strip in a Logic 8 project. To prevent this from affecting channel strips you are using in a project's arrangement, follow these steps:
    Choose Window > Environment.
    From the Environment window menu, choose New > Channel Strip > Auxiliary. A channel strip will appear in the environment.
    Select the channel strip. It will highlight.
    In the Device parameter box in the upper left of the Environment window, click the arrows to the right of "Channel" and choose Audio > Audio 256 from the menu.
    Select the text tool, click on the name below the channel strip and name it "Prelisten".

  • Possible to record solo automation from a MIDI controller?

    I am using a Novation SL MKII midi controller with Automap in Logic Pro 9.  I am trying to figure out how to record the solo automation feature from the MIDI input.  I select the track, and then select the 'Solo' section from the automation tools.  I then select Touch or Latch. (I've tried both)  When I push the MIDI button I can see that it does change the state of the track from solo on/off successfully, so the input is working fine.  But as I try to record it, nothing happens, no information about the state change is actually recorded. 
    Here's the strangest part, it works fine when I record mute automation... but not solo.  Any common reason this is occurring?

    Well, I don't know much about the kit you are using, but I do kow a bit about the midisport as I use one for my live setup. It should appear in the environment under clicks and ports. As for start and stop, although I have never tried this, I imagine it's possible through key command setup. Here you ought to be able to select play, learn the asignment and press the button. I'm not certain that this will work, and I'm pretty sure that some transport items won't work (like RTZ) but surely it should work. All I can say is give it a try!
    If any of this doesn't make sense, I suggest a read of the manual about key commands. They are part of what makes Logic so powerful, and you should note that Logic has some functions not available any other way that are very powerful. Equally, if you want to start having fun with MIDI, a readup on the environment will help too. Ah, the possibilities are almost endless...

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard on Mac Mini Core Solo CANNOT be found !

    My Apple Wireless Keyboard (non-aluminum)was working perfectly with my Mac Mini core Solo. I had to change the battery and after that I cannot connect to my Mac Mini.
    I tried:
    1. Update the Bluetooth software (from the downloads from Apple.com).
    2. Remove all the keyboard definitions in the System Preferences, Bluetooth.
    3. When I try to connect by selecting Keyboard in the Bluetooth Assistant, I won't get any device.
    4. When I try to connect to any device in the Bluetooth Assistent, I'll see the only Apple Wireless Keyboard I have, but then pairing failes.
    5. Only by using a USB keyboard I could enter my MacMini.
    Questions:
    a. How all of a sudden this can't work ?
    b. How to I "reset" the keyboard ?
    c. What can I do ?

    i am having this exact same problem. Keyboard isnt seen if I select "Keyboard" in the bluetooth setup assistant, but if I select "Any Device" then after a moment "Apple Wireless Keyboard" shows up in the device list but it will refuse to pair, saying it doesnt have any configurable services.
    Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Intel Mac Mini Core Solo - Kernel Panic on Boot

    I was wondering if anyone who has purchased the Intel Mac Mini is having issues with Kernel Panics during the booting sequence?
    I got a Core Solo from the local Apple store (couldn't wait to play, I'm waiting on the Core Duo I ordered online to come still ). The first thing I did was fire it up check it out for a few minutes, then I put the install disc in and reinstalled a clean OS, with less options because I'm planning on hooking it up to my TV so I don't need space hogs like Garageband etc on my TV computer. I got the updates that popped up, then shutdown the computer. I took it out to the living room and hooked it up to the tv and I got a black message about needing to restart (a kernel panic) right when the blue progress loading bar comes up on boot. I spent a while with it trying to figure out what was wrong, ran the Apple Hardware Test, booted it fine in Safe Boot. Finally I got tired of it and reinstalled the OS again.
    It was fine for a day, working fine out on the tv. I brought it back in my room to play with a few things like Darwine, etc. Shut it down, came back an hour or so later booted it up and got the kernel panic on boot. Safe boot still worked fine. I spent some time trying to look for panic logs but didn't see any. I ran the disk utility and did a Full erase and it worked fine. I reinstalled the OS again. Ran MemTestOSX and it worked fine. I left it running the Apple Hardware Test for about 6 hours or more, and it performed perfectly.
    This morning it still seemed ok, except sometimes on a cold boot when the blue progress bar screen should come on... my monitor just shows black and the light on the monitor goes inactive. So, I press the button on the back to sleep it, then bring it out of sleep with the keyboard and the OS is sitting there booted.
    It seems like a weird combination of software and hardware problems, but maybe it's all hardware problems. I can't get past Safe Boot working when the OS stops loading. Right now the computer is working fine.
    I'm waiting for my Core Duo to come in the mail and verify that it works flawlessly, then I'll take the Solo to the store and ask them to look at it.
    Anyone have any similar experiences so far?

    It seems like the mini is doing alright so far. I think maybe the full erase solved whatever issue it was having. I also got my Core Duo Mini yesterday in the mail and it's performing like a champ. Definitely a nice machine.
    I'll close my question for now, since the Core Solo Mini seems alright. But, as a warning don't get on Front Row's bad side. I tried force quitting it because it was taking too long to load the videos folder and then tried shutting down from a terminal and ended up having to turn the machine off.

    Hi folks, long time reader, first time poster (sorry, couldn't resist):
    I just got a nice shiny new core solo mac mini 1.5 with stock ram and it feels like it runs slower than my 450 mhz dual processor powermac. Activity monitor shows that if I try to run microsoft word and entourage at the same time I run out of free ram - is this normal? I'm thinking of upgrading the ram, but don't want to void the warranty if it turns out to be a hardware problem. Any ways that I could check it out?

    Yes.
    Running Microsoft PPC binaries under Rosetta will take more memory. And the stock 512 meg is sufficient, but as with any modern Operating System, more memory means better performance.
    I went to Best Buy recently and picked up these 2 sticks of RAM giving me 2 gigs of RAM in my Mac Mini Intel Core Duo:

    I replaced the preinstalled RAM in about 10 minutes. Undo the case (worst part actually), remove 4 screws, disconnect one onboard cable, replace RAM, reverse process.
    It made a huge difference in just about everything, as was expected. It also seems to have cured my video bleeding problems too.

    I have been reading about a Mac mini CPU upgrade from a 1.5Ghz core solo to a 1.83ghz Core 2 duo. I was wondering if I managed to get a CPU for it, would the genius bar at apple store be able to put it in for me as I don't want to take all the motherboard out in such a tiny such a tiny computer and I would also get 2GB ram for the mini as well. I need a core 2 duo due to it been 64bit for Mac OS X Leopard

    I second Gordon's estimation of the genius bar's willingness to do such work. You might find an Apple certified technician at an Apple certified repair concern that may do such work, but that would probably not qualify it for warranty consideration. If you don't want to do it yourself or have someone not at the genius bar do it, you're probably better off selling it and getting a new Core 2 Duo Mini.
