Spilled rubbing alcohol on iPhone 6 Plus

Spilled 91% isopropyl alcohol on my iPhone 6 plus and quickly wipes it off and turned it off. An hour later and it seems fine. Would that of stripped the lad screen of any coatings such as an anti-reflective coating, scratch proof coating? Thanks!

The oleophobic coating might have been damaged.

  • Spilled Rubbing Alcohol on Macbook Pro

    Hello.
So I spilled some 96º (~30%) rubbing alcohol on my Mac. I immediately turned it off. Being sure it was dry, I turned it on. It chimes and shows the Apple boot screen, but when it gets into the blue screen, it immediately turns off.
I opened the back lid and unplugged the battery. I plan to let it sit and dry for a few days and then turn it on.
My question is, what could the boot-up behavior mean? Should I be worried?
P.S. I know my guarantee is dead, no worries

Liquid spills, why your MacBook chassis is a one-way valve for spills
After a substantial spill many people will turn their notebook upside down and shake it, not only does this not work, but it spreads liquid havoc throughout your machine and makes things often as bad as possible.
The keyboard itself acts like a one way valve in the case of a substantial liquid spill. While liquid pours into the bottom chassis easy, it does not come out easily at all, and in the case of any spill, most of it will not come out by turning it upside down. Disconnect all power and contact Apple for diagnostics and repair.
Do not attempt to, after a spill, ‘dry out your MacBook’ and test it
After a spill most people invariably try to “dry out” their notebook by various methods, including hair dryers and otherwise. This both does not work, and after a substantial spill of any magnitude, even if the liquid was water, residue is left behind.
There are additionally many very tight places inside your notebook where liquids will linger for a very long time, and cause corrosion or worse.
Immediately unplug your notebook and contact Apple for in shop diagnostics and parts replacement.
In the case of very minor spills people will “dry out” their notebook and feel success that their notebook is working ok, however invariably in nearly all instances after 4-14 days an error / fault pops up and is usually followed by more.
In case of a spill, damage estimates are impossible,.....anything can be fixed, without question.......the question is cost.
contact Apple for in shop diagnostics and cost estimation ....possible parts replacement.

spill water on my Iphone and I want to recover photos on my Ipad The pictures on the Iphone were not shared with other apple devices is it possible get my photos from the iCloud ?

Had you set your iPhone up to use Photo Stream?
Had your performed an iCloud backup of your iPhone before it was damaged?
If you did neither of the above, then your photos are not in the cloud, and they are gone.
If you performed an iCloud backup, then it would contain the photos in the iPhone's Camera Roll (taken on the iPhone) at the time of your last backup.  You could restore this iCloud backup to a device.
If your iPhone used Photo Stream, those photos are immediately accessible to your iPad if you set it up to use the same Photo Stream.

My iphone plus is bending, what does Apple offer regarding this issue?
I am trying to get to contact with Apple Customer Care, but not clear to me how to do it beside this channel of communication. I bought the phone from kosovar carrier which is under Slovenian ownership. This means that the original warranty comes from Slovenia, bit complicated but still I would like to get an urgent answer how to proceed with this issue, thanks

Maybe i should have only asked if anyone is aware on apple's policy
regarding bending. I took the point that this seems not a proper forum to
pose Q's to apple thanks to both

  • I spilled milk on  my IPhone - can see it running under the screen - what to do

I spilled milk on my IPhone - can see it running under the screen - what to do

There's nothing you can do about this other than live with it and hope that it doesn't damage the iPhone (likely that it will). If it does eventually fail, you'll need to take or send your iPhone to Apple and pay for a replacement.
    Regards.

  • I spilled water onto my iPhone. It turns on..says searching..then dims and the screen has an endless circle..please help.

I spilled water onto my iPhone. It turns on..says searching..then dims and an endless circle appears. Any help me with this???

Turn it off. Though it's probably too late to prevent permanent damage.
Make an appointment at the genius bar of your local Apple store. Try to arrive with a positive attitude and your credit card. An out of warranty replacement is US$149.
Sometimes they can be salvaged by placing them in a bag of uncooked rice in a warm, dry place for several days to a week. The rice will absorb as much moisture as it can. If you've had it on though, and are experiencing the symptoms you describe, and/or have attempted to charge it, it is probably toast.

  • Yikes, I cleaned my LCD with 70% Rubbing Alcohol on toilet paper

    Hi there,
I had a quick question about my LCD monitor. Before I read all the stuff on the internet about cleaning LCDs, I put 70% rubbing alcohol on some toilet paper and very lightly applied it to my monitor. However, now I am freaking out because apparently this ruins your monitor. Did I permanently mess my LCD up by doing this? Thanks in advance.

Likely you have done no harm. Do you see a mark left behind where you applied the alcohol?

  • Cleaning with ethyl spirit / rubbing alcohol

    Greetings,
Just wanted to get some clarification on whether it is safe to use ethyl spirit/vodka/etc to clean the screen of Ipad 2 or iphone 4g.
I read that it can be harmful for the touch screen, and apple doesn't recommend it, but I just fail to see how. How can any alcohol damage the glass?
I don't care about the oleophobic coating.

Do NOT use any solvents on your iPad, including alcohol or window cleaner. From the manual:
To clean iPad, unplug all cables and turn off iPad (press and hold the Sleep/ Wake button, and then slide the onscreen slider). Then use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don’t use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean iPad. iPad has an oleophobic coating on the screen; simply wipe the iPad screen with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oil left by your hands. The ability of this coating to repel oil will diminish over time with normal usage, and rubbing the screen with an abrasive material will further diminish its effect and may scratch your screen.

  • I have a 16 Gb iphone plus can I pay to have more storage?

I got a new Iphone 6 plus from C.C. at sears but all they wereoffering in the 16 GB phone but I like there share plans for my wife and I; and they use AT&T cell towers which works great for us where we live. I would of rather of had a larger Gb like 64 or more so can I go to my nearest apple store and pay to have my cell phone up graded? I have a 30 days to use and If I don't like the phone I can send it back, but I really like the phone just not the storage. I only added 6 new ring tones and have use up already 4 gb of memory I was blown away. this phone will be out of storage in no time even with I-cloud so this is the question I am willing to pay for an up grade is it possible or should I send it back and go to the apple store and get the one I want the go back to sears and Consumer Cellular and still use them for my service? with my phone thanks in advance Zack.

Apple will not accept a return for an iPhone purchased at Consumer Cellular. You cannot
add additional memory to an iPhone. If you wish one with more memory, sell
the one you have and use the funds received towards the purchase of the model
    you desire.
You can return your current iPhone to your wireless provide, purchase one with
more memory at Apple and take that iPhone to Consumer Cellular to have them
activate it on their network. Before doing so, be use that Consumer Cellular will
accept iPhones not purchased directly from them and if they do, which models
    they support.

  • How bad is alcohol on iPhone 3Gs screen

I took my iPhone 3Gs to a shop for screen protector. It was still in the box covered with the factory plastic film. The sales person removed the film and use a cloth with alcohol to wipe it before putting the screen protector on. I questioned him but he said that's the way to remove dust (??).
I was concerned and later on found out on internet and in the iPhone booklet that we should not use alcohol to clean iPhone.
Is alcohol abrasive please? And how bad is it to the oleophobic coating please?
Thanks in advance for your advise.

The sales person removed the film and use a cloth with alcohol to wipe it before putting the screen protector on. I questioned him but he said that's the way to remove dust (??).
Alcohol would be useful for removing greasy fingerprints (which shouldn't be a problem with a 3GS), but a cloth or facial tissue slightly damp with plain water is enough for removing dust.
I was concerned and later on found out on internet and in the iPhone booklet that we should not use alcohol to clean iPhone.
It won't damage plain glass, such as on the previous iPhones, but I wouldn't use it on coated glass without knowing something about the coating.
    Is alcohol abrasive please?
It's not abrasive, but could soften or dissolve some coatings.
And how bad is it to the oleophobic coating please?
Even if it did no damage, I wouldn't use it again.

  • Shipping Update:  Iphone Plus 128 Gold

Verizon Shipping List:  Everyone that is concerned about the 128 Plus mine was gold WILL receive their device if their order was placed eastern time 9/12 3:01 - 3:23 a.m.  My order was placed at 3:14 a.m. therefore I am going to release myself from what I am hearing on the shipping delays via the social media for the Plus model.  I went to Verizon to speak with a manager who is also a church member and was showed the shipping schedule for the time slots of orders that were placed.   The original confirmation emails did have some errors and the ship date online is changing from a later date BACK to 9/19 IF you ordered your device within the time specified.   You can call verizon to confirm the time that they are showing you placed your order NOT the time you received the email.
    Hope this helps.

Yeah, that's a possibility but after the responses from the Apple locations and the guarantee that my model will be available for purchase at FCFS, I don't think I'll have much to do with Verizon locations regards it all.
I think the reason you're receiving yours on Friday is you are east coast whereas I am west coast.  I think there was some truth to the Fifth Contact's response and that it also depends on the warehouse the order is coming from.  My warehouse is more than likely different than yours and probably has a larger demand/smaller supply than your warehouse.
I live in Southern California, and my county alone has 3.1M people.  The four surrounding counties have 10M people, 2.3M people, 2.1M people, and 3.2M people.  iPhone is king out here as far as phones, so I'm chalking it up to supply/demand in my warehouse, and that my order was processed much later than many others in my area.
I'll check back on my order tomorrow and Thursday, but unless I have a notice that shows it going out for delivery on Friday by being at my local FedEx facility, I'm going to an Apple store, getting a phone there, and cancelling my order with Verizon.

  • Original iPhone plus 2.0 better deal than 3G?

After upgrading my software to 2.0 on my original iPhone, my delight with Apple is even greater than before - excellent App Store, great little tweaks to the previous user interface, plus push (well Ok, only half a push now) etc etc. Altogether I now have a great smartphone.
So why do I need 3g? Naturally it will be faster than Edge, but not enough to make a difference to my life - I do most of my web surfing and email on wifi and, if I have to use Edge it works fine overall (I can wait a few more seconds per page - no big deal). And do I really need GPS? I have car navigation software on a Tomtom already and the existing map and location service seems to meet most of my non-driving requirements.
I am sure the 3g is great and would recommend iPhone to all - but I have saved some cash and hassle by not upgrading from original to 3g - thanks to the excellent 2.0. Hopefully there will be further software upgrades later which will also apply to the original iPhone.
Better to wait till next year's model before upgrading the hardware, perhaps? Am I missing something?

I take that as a compliment. Set 'em up, Joe - mine's a whisky mac...
