Spilled tea on my iPod!

I spilled tea on my iPod, and now it's acting very strangely. It adjusts the volume up and down on its own, it skips during playback, and I hear static when I hook it up to my car adapter (that never happened before). I'm guessing it's dead and there's nothing I can do about it, but I thought I'd check here and make sure before I get a new one.

Hello Everyone,
Although this resolution seems ingenious I must let you know that exposing your iPod to freezing temperatures can cause serious harm and it will void your warranty. Please see the following excerpt from the iPod Safety Guide available at Apple.com.
Keeping iPod within acceptable temperatures
Operate iPod in a place where the temperature is always between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). iPod play time might temporarily shorten in low-temperature conditions.
Store iPod in a place where the temperature is always between -20º and 45º C (-4º to 113º F). Don’t leave iPod in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range.
When you’re using iPod or charging the battery, it is normal for iPod to get warm. The exterior of iPod functions as a cooling surface that transfers heat from inside the unit to the cooler air outside.
Have a great day!

  • I spilled tea on macbook pro and got it repaired at apple authorised service centre but not convinced about there way?

recently i spilled tea on my macbook pro  screen but key were safe as it was covered with key guard, some tea trickeled down from screen to the dividing portion, imediatly i switched it off and left it for long period of time and then restarted it everything was fine only it was not getting charged the green ligh was only there, i took it to authorised apple service centre (very far) they examined it and told that everything seems to be ok..but they asked for some time to find some internal damage..i left the machine there and came back..i haven't received any call from them for two days when i asked them they told they need to change the charging port i agreed ..again no call from them..i just made a call again this time they told that charging port was unable to fix the problem..they told the the logic board has to be replaced..since it was costly and i bought the machine 5 month back ...so i made  my mind to buy new one ..again i made a call (everytime i called them) they told  me they have a logic board of some customer who broke his led panel and need to sell his logic board.they offered me if i want i can buy that..it will cost 35000(more than 50% than orignal machine) , i told them it will cover the warrenty or not they confirmed me "yes". i told them to change it since  i was out of station ,it was not possible for me to go there so it was all done on phone. please help me i collected my macbook pro with lot of doubt in my mind..
1.Is that logic board will cover the warrenty and how can i make out is they changed it or just done nothing
2.what controll apple has on its service centre
3.when i asked them if something goes wrong and  i will have to take it to any other service centre what to do,they suggested not to mention about logic board changing issue
    4. is orignal logic board has some item no or something so that i can find out, i feel ,may be wrong that hey must have cheated me..and the charging port must have resolved the problem
Please help..and sorry for my language error,

So The Serial Number W80201QNATN is from your original invoice when you first bought the MBP. The same serial number is on the body of the MBP. The same serial number shows up in System Profiler when you start the MBP.
That all matches with the information given from one of the links I posted earlier. It fits your MBP perfectly:
    Serial number: W80201QNATN
Name: MacBook Pro (Mid 2010 13 inch)
    Group1: MacBook
    Group2: Pro
    Generation: 71
    ModelCode:
    Machine Model: MacBookPro7,1
    Model introduced: 2010
    Production year: 2010
    Production week: 20  (May)
Production number: 1994 (within this week)
    introduced test: 2010 (0) 1
    introduced test: GOED
    CPU speed: 2.66GHz
Family name: Become a pro user to see this information. (sorry)
    Screen size: 13 inch
    Screen resolution: 1280x800 pixels
    Colour: Aluminium
    Factory: W8 (Shanghai China)
Now this is a serial number you provided earlier: 34031968Atm Where does this come from?

  • Spilled tea on macbook, doesn't register battery...?

I spilled tea on my 13" macbook while it was closed.  I dried it out.  It's functioning normally except it doesn't register my battery so I can't use it unless it's plugged in. I got a new battery, same problem.  Is this a short in the logic board? If so, is there a way I can fix it on my own or would i have to buy a completely new one?

Check the battery connector if it is corroded then that is what you will have to fix.  Try cleaning it and seeing if that will make a difference.

  • Spilled tea!

i spilled tea on my keyboard, and since then my webcam won't work. in one application, it comes on-the green light - and immediately shuts off.
    Could there be a connection
lots of my keys don't work now ... very discouraging to have to replace two parts....
    Appreciate any help!

I have never seen this specific behavior caused by a spill. I doubt that the two are directly related. If you want to try saving some money before buying a new keyboard and regain the use of all of your keys, you might try this:

    I'd troubleshoot the iSight separately.
Have you gone through the isight testing procedures posted by EZ Jim?

  • Spilled Tea on HP G50

    Hi,
I have an HP G50 116CA laptop. Two days back, I spilled tea on my laptop by mistake. I turned off the computer right away. I had tried to remove as much with table cloth. I did not turn it back on until at least 12 hrs later. It booted up everything seemed too work..including all keys, but they do not retract properly and touch pad does not seem to work. I try to turn it on-off but that the white light does not even flash. Please guide me what I should do and what the problem could be
    Appreciate any help..

Make sure the metal shavings do not get inside the notebook, move to another place to drill, not where you are disassembling the notebook.

  • Just spilled tea on my keyboard

    Hello everyone!
I spilled tea with sugar on my keyboard and right plug it off from my mac, then I wiped the keyboard dry. After that I put it near the radiator for a night. So, what should I do? Any ideas? Is there anybody who had the same situation?
    Thanks.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I had a similar experience a few months ago when I spilled a mug of coffee over my brand new Logitech mouse. I tried doing as you did by letting it dry out on a radiator, but this was not very successful. The buttons were very sticky and the scroll wheel did not work at all.
I did manage to completely revive the mouse however by rinsing it thoroughly in running water and then letting it dry out over a radiator for three days. It has worked perfectly since then.
If your keyboard does not work after just drying it out, then you may want to try giving it the same treatment. It may help - or it may kill it completely. Just make absolutely sure that it is completely dry before re-connecting it to your computer.

  • I spilled tea on my macpro

I spilled tea onto my MacPro. It have been shutting off for 3 days. I wonder what i have to do now? Could I bring it to applestore and have them fix it?

Don't turn it back on, whatever you do. DO immediately take your machine to an Apple Store or an AASP and have them assess the damage. Because you may have damaged your logic board, be prepared to spend quite a chunk to get your machine back in working order.

  • I spilled tea on my mousepad

I spilled tea on my mousepad on my Macbook pro..I quickly wiped it away. It was spazzing out initially but I turned off my computer for a bit and now it seems to be okay. Should I be worried? Is there damage that is just waiting to hit? Please help!

Hello asdfnora and welcome to Apple Support Communities,
    Here's my stock short answer:
"Whenever a liquid spill occurs the first thing that has to happen is the laptop should be shut down immediately. All power must be removed as soon as possible. It is especially important that the battery be disconnected and removed.
All affected parts must be removed from the laptop. No attempt should be made to start/restart the computer.
Then all affected parts would be washed in deionized water and blown dry with compressed air. (In a water spill the deionized water is probably not as critical. Depends on the mineral content of the water.) and blown dry with compressed air. This is especially true of the large chips on the logic board. Water can wick under them and cause havoc.
The logic board should be placed in a drying/dehumidifing oven for at least two days. Longer depending on the spill.
The keyboard is a separate matter "
" It was spazzing out initially but I turned off my computer for a bit and now it seems to be okay."
So clearly some liquid got to the logic board. Over time this can totally kill that board. I've got pictures if you're interested.
    Here's a site:
    http://www.insidemylaptop.com/steps-to-fix-macbook-pro-laptop-after-liquid-spill /
If it's working stop using it and turn it upside down on a towel. Keyboard on the towel and let it sit for at least a day. If you or someone you know can unplug the battery as in that last site do so. Inspection would take someone who knows what to look for.

  • I accidentally spilled tea on my macbook and the keyboard is sticky, I took off the key "A" and now I can't put it back on. What can I do or where can I take it so it can be fixed?

I accidentally spilled tea on my macbook and the keyboard is sticky, I took off the key "A" and now I can't put it back on. What can I do or where can I take it so it can be fixed?

So is that key the only thing that does not work? How much tea was spilled and did it dry out completely or ? Was there sugar in the tea?
If the key is the only thing, I'd take it to the nearest Genius Bar and ask if they could pop it back in.

If iTunes does not see your iPod then your only hope is a data recovery company. Not cheap.
However, you may be able to get some photos by:

  • Spilled tea on iBook, help!

My daughter knocked over a cup of tea onto my laptop, and I can't get it to start up again. Not much liquid got onto the computer, and what was visible, I dried immediately.
I tried booting it off the install CD, but it can't find the hard drive. Restarting shows the folder with the flashing question mark. I also tried resetting the PRAM, to no avail.
Is there anything I can do? Last backup was on the 8th, so several days would be lost. Help! Thanks.

It's very important the machine thoroughly dries, otherwise corrosion will occur on the circuitry.
As the previous poster suggested remove the keyboard. If you know how to remove the RAM, it would be helpful to do so and dry it, as well as the socket its inserted into (gently dabbing both with a paper towel).
This is a good, albeit painful, lesson in keeping liquids away from the computer. Two computers ago I spilled a fruit smoothie onto my desktop's keyboard - not a pretty sight.

  • I spilled tea on my macbook pro last night and this morning i opened it and the fan began going loudly. It sounds like static. Is this a new thing to save itself?

I spilled my tea last night and a little got on my keyboard, by where the power cord plugs in. We immediately turned it upside down and of course dried off as much as possible. This morning, I tried turning it on and nothing happened. I waited a few minutes and tried again. The fan turned on, but nothing else. It sounds like static or white noise, but when you get closer you can feel the wind blowing from the fan. Is this a new self-saving thing? I just got it this year, 2014.

Turn it off now, it's damaged and the more you turn the power on the worse that can get.
Take it Apple, do not turn it on again.

  • HELP! spilled tea on macbook!

So the other night I was working on a term paper when suddenly my phone rings.
And so, without thinking, I quickly went to pick it up.
But when I did so, I accidently knocked over a cup of tea.
I use no cream or sugar and it was about half a cup.
    My macbook suddenly shuts down.
And needless to say, I started panicking!
I have learned a couple of things on this forum.
I have flipped it upside down to dry for about 3 days before I turned it on again.
What happened was, it went to the Apple Sign, but after about 3-4 seconds, it goes into a deep sleep mode. And when I try to turn it back on again, it remains in the deep sleep mode.
What's wrong with it? Is the logic board fried?
I checked my battery by pressing the button on the back and it seems to be fully charged.
    Please help! I'm desperate! =(
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

It may not be dry yet. Or it may be fried. Really, the only way you're going to find out, besides waiting a few more days, is to take it to Apple. And even if it works again, the acid in tea is, I believe Not a Good Thing.
That said, a few years ago I spilled about half a cup of water on my beloved tiny Sony. It wouldn't start, and I sent it to Sony, which said it needed an $800 motherboard. The computer was 3 years old, a new one cost about a thousand dollars, and so I bought the new one and Sony returned the old -- which worked just fine when I turned it back on.
So there is always room for hope, but perhaps not a lot of room...
Why not wait a few days, try again, and if it doesn't work, try booting from your install disks and check out whether all your hardware is working. If that doesn't work, the only recourse is probably to send it to Apple.
