Spin a picture around it's axis to write something on the back

Hi guys,
I'm rather new to Motion, and don't really know all that much about the 3D aspect in Motion, so I am having a few issues with something that should be rather simple. This is what I would like to do :
I would like to add a picture in motion and then 'turn it around' it's axis, so the back side of the picture appears (which should be white), and then add some text to simulate writing something on the back of a picture. Sadly, I can't seem to get it working.
I can make the picture spin, that isn't the big issue, but adding a white 'back side' to the picture is my biggest problem. I tried to add a white shape behind the picutre and make the group spin, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it correctly.
Is there anyone here who could help me out with this ?
Thanks a lot in advance,
Stefaan

hi,
I just built this quickly and it threw me out for a bit as well. Your method is correct, here is what I did:
in a group I put two rectangle shapes of different colours. But you would of course put your picture and white shape in. I then added a layer of text. In the group I ordered it thus: text , backface shape, frontshape face. The crucial point is to make sure the parent group is in 3D mode, and not 2D. You can do this by selecting the group and heading over to the inspector window and the Group tab. There there is a Type pop up menu make sure that is on 3D. Or you can click on the little icon in the layers window, next to the padlock.
now when you rotate the parent group it should spin around properly.

How do I transfer my pictures from icloud to my pc?

    Hello citcatprincess,
Importing the photos from iCloud is relatively easy. I would first take a look at the first article that will walk you through with making copies of your Photos as well as other data from iCloud if you need it. The one piece that you will need is iCloud for Windows so that way photos will sync up for you.

  • How to make a still picture rotate around a vertical axis ?

    H there,
Can I know how do I make a still picture rotate around a vertical axis ?
    Thanks

    Thanks MTD,
It is indeed one good trick ...
From your timeline, it seems that you applied a transition after each clip. Can I know why & what transition you applied ?
Can you please elaborate what you meant by "I changed the last keyframe in the last clip to a Smooth" ?
    Thanks again ...

    Hi -
While Mr. Wolsky is absolutely correct that you need the other software to do the effect you describe correctly, I believe you can make an approximation of what you want using FCE. Whether or not it passes the smell test is up to you.
You can see a clip I made [HERE|http://www.spotsbeforeyoureyes.com/3DTurn_Example.mov]
Because when you rotate the frame 360 degrees using the Y-axis, the image always comes back to the same position - which gives you a handy place to match cut to the next implementation of the rotation at a slightly slower pace. The last rotation was smoothed to a stop by modifying the filter keyframe to "Smooth".
So (not acounting for the pad video at the head and tail of the clip, a 1 second clip, followed by a 2 second clip, followed by a 4 second clip to give me a 7 second move.
I applied the filter to the first clip, and set it so that it went from -360 to 360 in Y axis rotation. I then copied that clip and used Command -V to apply the same effect to the next to clips via paste attributes, UNCHECKING the Scale Attribute Times so that the spinning would slow down as the clips lengthened.
Lastly, I changed the last keyframe in the last clip to a "Smooth" , and added head and tail trim to the entire effect so the bars would start static, spin and the end static.
Like I say, it's far from perfect but may either point you toward a solution or trigger ideas of your own.

I have recently purchased an IPad Air. This comes with "IPhoto" as well as it's usual photo App. I do not have a Mac, instead I am syncing it to my windows PC. Is there any way of actually moving a picture around, (arranging photos in a single album), in either of these apps???? They claim to be able to "Organize"  or "arrange" Photos, but for the life of me I can't figure out how......could you recommend any apps that actually allow someone to move individual photos around on an IOS Device.

No, reordering within folders and albums is not supported. the yare arranged automatically by date. I found this, but I have not used any of the apps besides iPhone. You might check the descriptions to see if they do what you need.

  • Rotation around an arbitrary axis in Flex

I am hoping to animate the rotation of an object around an arbitrary axis.  Is it possible to do this with the animation classes in Flex 4?  I can get it to work using the Rotate3D function, but only around the x-, y- or z-axis.  I'll explain...  I have objects that are subclasses of FilledElements, because I need them to be filled with bitmaps.  These elements are created using drawPath, because they can be any type of polygon in the xy plane.  I need to be able to "flip" an object, using any one of its sides as an axis.  The "flip" is a 3D rotation.  The flip works for a rectangle whose width is parallel to the x-axis or length is parallel to the y-axis.  But, if I have a triangle or other polygon whose sides are not parallel to any axes? How can I generate a 3D rotation on one of its sides?
I tried setting different values using SimpleMotionPath on the transform property.  I tried using the animation class, but it needs a property, and I'm not sure what property maps to what I need.  I thought changing the transform property using SimpleMotionPath might work, but that doesn't do it.  I have tried using matrix.appendRotation on the object, but I'm not sure how to animate using that function.
Thanks!  Any help would be appreciated.

It is not the spheres I am worried about in this instance. I can move the spheres as I need to however, there are linking cylinders between those spheres. I easily find the midpoint for the cylinder to be located at but the cylinder needs to be aligned so it is pointing to the central sphere and the external sphere. That is what the above code is trying to generate, a matrix4d transform that rotates and aligns the cylinder along the direction required.

  • Needing help with moving pictures around

I am in need of help in moving pictures and images around
dreamweaver document window. My older brother gave me his computer
witch has dreamweaver MX (he is in Irag) so i can start building
building my own websites. I went to borders and bought a book on
dreamweaver MX. Here is where I am having a problem with: when ever
I bring a picture into the document window I can not move the
picture around the document window. The book say "place the
insertion point where you want the image to appear" but there is no
insertion point. There is just a straight line as if I am about to
type something. It's almost like I am in microsoft word. If I take
the mouse over the picture , and then left click and try to drag
the picture to the location I want it in, it doesn't move. Can
somebody PLEASE help me out with this problem. Thanks Jical

Nadia gave you a good place to start… Here is what you
have to understand. Web pages are based on specific code that tells
the viewer’s browser how to display the page. There has to be
something that says, “Put this picture in the lower right
hand corner, and center this image in the middle of the
    screen”
Then there are further instructions that say “Put this
text here and that link there”. So Dreamweaver (and most
other web developing programs) do not work like Illustrator or
PowerPoint where you can simply grab a picture and slide it around
    the page.
In its simplest form you might drag an image onto the
Dreamweaver design view page and click on the center button in the
    properties dialog.
Then type in text and center it, left justify, right justify,
etc. Add another picture and so on and you could possibly create a
passable web page. Now click on the Code view button and see what
code Dreamweaver generated in order to do all of this.
That is what you will really need to understand before you
can really get proficient at web design.
At the next level, you can start to add in tables. These
actually are similar to tables in Word. You can put text in one
cell, images in another, colored backgrounds, thick and thin
borders with contrasting colors, and you can start to see how to
“contain” your images as Nadia suggests.
Now look at the code again and see how these cells are
    defined around your content.
Once you understand how this works, you will get much more
comfortable with Dreamweaver. You will just have to get used to the
idea that it doesn’t work like all of the publishing software
that is only dependant upon its own format for layout. HTML is
dependant upon the many browsers, computers, operating systems,
user preferences, and a million other unknown factors.
That’s why this forum has more than 91,000 posts…

  • Moving pictures around my library

How can I move my pictures around in my library to make easy to put into albums

You can view the photos in your library by oldest or newest (adoberevel.com)  and by date, event date, or who added the photo (iOS). Currently you can not rearrange the photos into a random order.

  • MOVING PICTURES AROUND

    Hello everyone.
I am new to this forum
    i have a question about dreamweaver 8.
How do you move the pictures around?
Because everytime i add a picture, it snaps to the last word
of a sentence or line. I try to move it, it just snaps back!
How do i counter this to freely move the picture
    around.

Without a good base in HTML you will have a hard time with
    questions like
this. Please spend some time to figure out what the rules are
    for HTML
pages, and you'll begin to understand why you can't just drag
    and drop
    images onto the page....

    Welcome to the forum!
I'm not sure I understand exactly what you want to do, but if it's something like the image below, you'll find a good tutorial on the effect at http://www.stunningmesh.com/2010/10/wrap-the-pictures-around-any-object/

  • Does anyone know a trick/tip on wraping picture around a globe?

Or would I need PRM CS4?

The Wax plugin from Debugmode has shapes that includes a sphere that you can wrap a picture around. But learning how to use that package takes some time. Wax is installed as a plugin in Premiere Elements and is listed under Video Effects as "Debugmode" which you expand to reveal the Wax effect. You drag and drop the Wax effect on the clip on the timeline. That starts the Wax interface.
In the Wax interface select the Plugin Presets tab, then select "VL Shapes" from the list on the left. There will a shape called "Shape Sphere" that you drag and drop on "Host Media1." You should see your picture wrapped around a sphere shape. If you want the sphere to rotate, you have to keyframe it within Wax. You expand HostMedia1 to reveal the properties that can be keyframmed. There are buttons on the right of each property value called "Keyframming Mode." Click on the button for Angle Y under the Transform 3D object, and select Linear. In order to keyframe this value so the sphere rotates, you need to understand how to keyframe in Premiere Elements, because it is very similar in Wax.
Click the red button at the top of the Wax interface to close the dialog. You will need to render a preview in Premiere Elements to see smooth playback. You should export that sequence to a DV-AVI file, and replace the clip on the timeline with that new file. Be prepared for Wax to crash on you as you learn how to use it. When it crashes, it takes Premiere Elements with it.

  • How do you easily move pictures around in a book design?

When I place an image into a book, I cant move it arround. The image is placed in a centered position, but it crops it incorectly. I dont need to scale it or crop it, just to move it arroun with-in the bounding image box.
    Thanks much

Double click on the image. Click-hold-drag to move it around. A scale slider also appears below the image.
This works in both frame modes.

  • My problem is that after printing the first photo or picture, when I come to print a second, both the Colour Management and Epson Colour Controls are greyed out and showing No Colour Management

I have recently purchased a Mac computer (updated to Maverick) to go with my Epson Stylus Photo RX500 printer which has given excellent service with my old Windows computer. However, when trying to print pictures or photos via Photoshop Elements 11, the best results I can get are using the Colour Management and Epson Colour controls in the printing options box.
My problem is that after printing the first photo or picture, when I come to print a second, both the Colour Management and Epson Colour Controls are greyed out and showing No Colour Management, The only way I can reset the controls is to shut down the printer and computer and restart.
Could there may be a setting somewhere that I need to adjust please?  I have been in touch with Epson and they say that the Epson Colour controls are part of the Photoshop Elements software but a post on the Adobe forum brought no results and I am unable to contact Adobe.
    <Edited by Host>

Hello Garry. Thanks for the reply. I guess I should have used a different title from "How do I post a question?" That should come after trying to resolved the colour settings first. However, to answer your question, after experimenting with all the different settings in Photoshop Elements and Epson software, I now start with PSE11 Colour settings then click "no colour management" then after clicking Print, I choose "More Options/Colour Management/Colour Handling/Printer Manages Colour" then I choose "Page Setup/Layout/Colour Matching" which then shows Epson Colour Controls but I also choose "Layout/Colour Management" which then shows "Colour Controls/Mode" I then of course choose an Epson printer profile depending on the paper I am using. I get good results but as I said, the Colour Matching and Colour Controls are then greyed out. Hope that makes sense.
