Spinning ball from Finder

Early 2014 Macbook Air, Yosemite 10.10.1
Yesterday I imported music from old windows computer.  Today while organizing the files, the spinning ball started and will not stop.  I have tried to relaunch Finder and have shutdown the computer several times.  Each time upon start up the folder where my music is located opens and causes Finder to become unresponsive.

When you see a beachball cursor, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

mac pro too slow to use, spinning ball, no finder response, only hard power off, installing system stalls at 18 minutes left.
It is taking an hour to power up and mac apple logo appear onscreen. No finder controls or "clicks" are being recognized. Spinning beachball all the time.
Using hard power off and holding the mouse down, I was able to open the optical drive and then restart with "c" and ask the dvd to reinstall the system, but it has stalled before finishing the installation.
This happened about 4 days ago, first it started responding slowly, and then it just keeps spinning the beachball. I can't find hardware test. I did run etrecheck, it did not have any error messages, but I can't copy or move the data anywhere.... I am not able to access the mac pro with another machine, and now I am stuck in install freeze, so I can't copy etrecheck by hand onto a piece of paper.
Without being able to finish a reinstall, what can I try?
After it got bad, and before it got REALLY bad, I managed to repair permissions, but it took a long time. Most of a day. When I restarted from that, things were only worse.
Mac Pro 1,1 , 11 GB ram, 7300, 5TB hard drives, OS 10.6.8,  the drive containing the system folder is/was 700 used, 290 free. While I could get commands to respond, I put Activity monitor on the desktop and watched it.  System memory was 3.31 GB used, about 7 free, and some wired. No app was using a huge amount.
what should I try next? I put a bid on a new/old machine so that I could move the 4 hard drives over.

Thank you for all your suggestions. Please correct me as I articulate this.
I have three versions( 5, 6, CC) of the Adobe Master Collection which I keep active for different clients. I have final cut and motion. I have Office 365. I have a collection of graphic apps that are individually not too big but in all, my app folder is 65GB and my bootcamp partition is 61GB. I can't fit all this on 120 ssd and a 256 will be full once I install, correct? drives should be half open?
Somehow I did not make it clear enough that I was trying to copy onto a 2TB drive I had just initiallized in order to try and save files from my startup drive. I don't use time machine. I take a day or a few days worth of documents and physically move them to another drive at night.  If a series is finished I make two dvd's as well. The second black drive that was failing was the drive I moved my backup documents onto. At no point was I trying to backup onto the failing drives. I was trying to copy off both of them onto the other two drives, a third aux backup that has been there for a while, and a newish 2 TB which I designated as the startup drive when all this trouble started.
I wondered if there were any good techniques for trying to get the data off the failing drive. Thanks for the suggestion of Data Rescue 3. I don't have it yet, but I will try it as soon as I get it. I was never trying to repair in place.
I am very interested in getting a pci bracket and an ssd, but I may wait until I can afford the larger one. If I get an older bracket that is compatible with my old mac pro 1,1  ,  I'd like to be able to move it to a mac pro 3,1 if I get one. Will the larger ssd drives be compatible with the sata in a pci bracket that can work in my mac pro 1,1 ? sata 2 versus something else? If 240 or 256 is my size limit, how much more than my 65 and 61 GB partitions can I put on there? How much of a scratch disc can I make if I leave another 39 GB of headroom on my bootcamp partition? I'm filling 165 GB without making any allowance for temp files.
You have said that 120 is enough for any system. I think I must be misunderstanding something. Are you saying that assuming that most people run office and photoshop and maybe lightroom?
I have and use 4 HDD in this machine, mostly for document storage in two places.
I took out all but the group of 2GB ram chips I bought a year and a half ago. The old ram had passed the hardware test the last time I had access to the hardware test. Two black drives failed, one was a year old and one was a year and a half old, and that it may have been exacerbated by the heat wave. I don't know why the video and the monitor were affected save that the startup drive was failing. I am trying to replace the card.
With all this said, I am also looking at a used mac pro 3,1 with a better video card since a newer machine will likley be compatible through another OS upgrade. If a machine costs only a little more than a new card, it might be a better way to go.
I don't have any sources that offer an ssd for 100. ( of a size that is useful)
How large is your application folder?

  • I have an iMac with Mavericks that is experiencing a lot of "spinning balls" from particularly Mail, Google Chrome, and Word. I took it to the Apple store and it was fast there, at home slow. I have been having internet speed issues, could it be that?

I have a pretty new iMac with LOTS of storage (about 4TB with externals) that is experiencing a lot of "spinning balls of death" from time to time in almost any program that I might have open, but particularly MacMail, Google Chrome browsers, and Word. I took it to the Apple store to be checked out and it was really fast with no issues there. I brought it home and it was better at first but then it started happening again.
I have been having a lot of issues with Time Warner where my download speeds will dip really low, and all I can think of is that MacMail goes and tries to check for email and can't get out to the internet and it locks all the other resources up while it is doing it. It will also take a REALLY long time to even let you look at mail. The folder size is over 13GB (down from 22GB that I just cleared out from - I have a lot of MP3s etc in there) and I will try to get this down to under 10GB which might help, and the mail is on an external drive. I have been told that Verizon is not a shared network but a direct connection to their server, and if I can't fix this then I will try switching to them. If anyone has any direct knowledge on this stuff, I am all ears.

We need to know more about your system, please download EtreCheck and run the report and please post it on your next reply. Then we can see how your system is configured, what apps are on it and look for anything obvious. We will look forward to seeing your report.

  • "Spinning Ball" in Finder

I have a MacBookPro (2007) running OS10.9.4 with 4Gb memory. I recently noticed that double-clicking on an icon in the Finder produces the "spinning ball" for about 20 seconds. This does not occur in any of my apps. The problem suddenly started without any changes (that I am aware of) in the OS or app updates.
Any thoughts would be kindly appreciated. Thank you so much.

  • Spinning Ball from Safari after Wakeup

    Hi,
I have a 15" Macbook Pro 2 GHz Intel Core i7 with upgraded ram to 8 GB and a 120 GB SSD. Upon wakeup after putting my macbook to sleep, Safari will stall with a spinning beach ball for what seems like half a minute. It appears to be the only app doing this and I can sometimes launch and hit a page with Firefox in the time it takes the beach ball to go away in Safari. This did not happen in my previous five year old 15" MBP with an Intel Core Duo that was using the same SSD.
This is highly annoying. Any advice how to remedy the issue?
    Thanks.

Here's what finally worked for me:
Try shutting down Safari, then delete the following:
    /Users/<user>/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
    /Users/<user>/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari
    /Users/<user>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
    /Users/<user>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.RSS.plist
    /Users/<user>/Library/Safari
Well, I swore I did all those, maybe except the "/Users/<user>/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari" one, but all is well now! Browsing great. Thanks!

  • Spinning Ball with Finder Problems.

    Hey Everyone,
I have a iBook G4 (1.2GHz) running Mac OS X Tiger v 10.4.3 with a major finder issue. Every time I click on the hard drive, the curser becomes a color wheel and keeps spinning. After about 5 minutes, folders start to load in the Finder, but everything is unresponsive and I eventually have to do a hard restart. I even tried to do a clean install of OS X but to no avail. Does anyone have any options to try? I am open to any possibilities.
    Thank you,
    Greg

I've had multiple problems with Bluetooth, just unplugging the machine while hooked to an external monitor, and yes, Finder has been acting up, but it is not consistent. Not sure what Apple broke, but I was more stable on 10.6.5. Can't imagine that just adding the Mac App Store, and other slight enhancements, they would have messed up this much. I've already had to unload VMWare Fusion because it just wasn't work well at all and I have 8 GB of RAM. Could be that VMWare is just not compatible with this update.
I will continue to test like everyone else, but I hope Apple reads these and sees the problems we are having.

  • Help --- Finder Spinning Ball of Death Mavericks not starting

get the spinning ball of death when I select finder from the desktop or select anything for that matter.
I have tried reinstalling Mavericks, after the install I get a popup asking me to install java, regardless of the option I select either not now or install the SPOD comes up.
I then go into safe mode and downloaded java and installed it, then rebooted normal mode, same problem SPOD when you select anything.
I have created another account and that works fine, but not my normal account. Initially I thought it might be something to do with chrome, so I uninstalled that.
In addition I have removed any startup items I had against the user ID in system preferences. I have also switched off spotlight trying to build indexes.
I know my system is ok when I get the adobe update icon on my top menu bar. The boot up process simply doesn’t get to that stage.
Below is the boot log. I would be really grateful for any suggestions. I have tried installing from the app store 3 times now.

The startup drive is failing, or there is some other internal hardware fault. Everything else is completely irrelevant.
Back up all data on the drive immediately if you don't already have a current backup. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • Spinning ball, finder freezes & LaCie HD fails

Oh Hi!! Not sure where to put this at all as I seem to ahve multiple problems which is either a coincidence or something/onething is seriously wrong. I have been working fine for months with my external HD, DVD drive & MBP but over the last few days i have experienced problems with all 3. Granted, the MBP is quite old now and I am running FCP on it at times but this has been fine for a while too. The 1st thing to show was the lacie DVD drive suddenly showing me error messages when trying to mount blank dics - after a few times shutting off and on I have managed to get that working again.
Thinking no more of it, today i was working on the mbp in Word and had a spinning ball for so long i had to force quit to get any further - this is quite unusual and i have to say, since then things have not been so sweet.
After finishing that work I put my external d2 on to do some video stuff with FCP and the lacie HD made the strangest whirring noises which i have not heard before. FCP froxe so i forced quite again without ejecting HD and things went from bad to worse. Unplugged (including power cable) ext HD for 30mins, plugged back in & switched on and all it did was make ticking noises for 15mins before finally mounting (phew - haven't backed up onto disc in ages). However, when i try to go through finder to a file on the lacie when it is sleep-mode - it then causes Finder to start spinning that ball again until i have to force quit.
Sorry for the lengthy description but i don't know whether i have lacie ext HD problems, or is it MBP and appls/finder or.........?????
Does anyone have any ideas on this or where i should start to try and solve it?
Many thanks for any info or advice
    Jo

    thankyou both for your responses!
i will check clock battery - ths is a new one to me so would not have thought about it at all......
I have been using the same DVDs CDs for months with this equipment ad has always been ok till now - philips dvd-r?
I will have to try and get d2 ext mounted today to do some backing-up, i know, i'm so lazy but i got quite complacent with the lacie ext as everything is backed-up into that and i hoped i was doing enough.
the ext. HD is only a year old and I wouldn't expect that to fail yet - it's only on when i'm using video and backing-up so hardly overworked.
    we'll see what happens today
thanks again for your thougts for now

  • Having trouble importing photos from Panasonic Lumix cameras. No error message 1 just has spinning ball, other can import using menu but ends with spinning ball. using 9.1.5 Mac OSX10.6.8. Have to restart to access iphoto

Hi I am trying to import photos into iPhoto using two Panasonic cameras both Lumix (DMC TZ3 and DMC FZ30). Worked in the past no problem, I upgrade system when prompted and am running Mac OSX 10.6.8 with iPhoto 9.1.5.  When I attach cable from camera to Mac with the DMC TZ3 I get the spinning ball and nothing else and have to force quite and restart to access iphoto again without the spinning ball, with the DMC FZ30, when I plus in the cable I get an icon on the desktop and can go into iphoto and import the photos that way.  When the photos have been imported I get the spinning ball again and have to restart the Mac to access iphoto without the spinning ball.  Photos do import though.
Can anyone help, a really stupid, non-techie person who has no idea what she is doing, please?
    Thank you

    Try use a different cable.
    Regards
    TD

  • Why do applications (Illustrator, Pages, Mail) launch so slowly with spinning ball (about a minute to 90 seconds) when Mac is connected to our LAN, but when I disconnected Mac from the LAN, those applications launch instantly and function normally?

I hope I'm submitting this properly, I apologize if this irritates anyone because of improper etiquette. Why do applications (Illustrator, Pages, Mail) launch so slowly with spinning ball (about a minute to 90 seconds) when Mac is connected to our LAN, but when I disconnected Mac from the LAN, those applications launch instantly and function normally? This is a condition which seemed to start just recently and abruptly. These applications reside on, and are launched from the startup drive, not from a network drive. Also, we have a NAS drive on the LAN that we connect to that also takes a minute or two to mount, when it used to (before this problem) mount on the desktop in a matter of about 5 seconds. We have three identical Mac Pros on the LAN, and they all have this problem when launching and using the above mentioned applications. When I physically unplug the network cable from the Mac, all applications launch instantly and function normally. I know very little about networks, so I can't begin to test or change any setting pertaining to our network - if that is where the problem lies. The only recent change to our network situation is that we lost or our internet and phone service due to massive flooding here in Minot, North Dakota (our ISP tells us the communication lines are under water and shorting out). But shouldn't our LAN still function even though we have lost our connection to the outside world? Thanks so much, in advance, for helping me solve this problem. Sheldon.

    Hi there.
A slow LAN can have many things so its going slow.
    1) is your lan 1gbit speed? (full duplex)
    2) are the macs also 1Gbit speed? (full duplex)
    3) does your nas has a firewall? (so you can see what the mac asking there)
    4) on the macs is the firewall on? (does the programms can pass the fw?)
    5) how big is the nas and how many files/dirctorys are on the nas? (big folders speeds down )
many questions, but sometimes there is a solution.
    regards tim

  • Spinning beach ball from ****

    Hi folks,
The spinning beachball from **** is really bothering me with my iMac, I've gone through the forum and most of the things suggested - i.e using OnyX to clean everything up etc but still it seems to come up on the simplest things like opening up a quicktime file. It is disrupting my editing now as the beachball will turn up occasionally and I have to wait a good ten mins before it disappears.
The iMac I upgraded to 2GB memory, and the processor is 2GHz Intel Core Duo. The internal hard drive is 750 GB with 450GB free as I use a 1.5 terrabyte external drive for all my footage and capture scratch for Final Cut. the operating system is Mac OSX 10.4.11.
The thing I have noticed in the Activity Monitor is that when I click on the Disk Activity tab occassionally there can be up to 4 large red peaks which doesn't look too clever, however this is sporadic and I'm not sure if this normal?
Again, any help would be much appreciated I'm working with miniDV and DVCAM footage as I use my Macbook Pro to edit in HD so it's nothing to do with this I'm sure. But I'm at a loss to figure out why this continually keeps plaguing me and I fear if the beachball comes up again I may well throw the mac out the window....!
    Cheers guys,
    Matty

I can understand people's resistance to this process but it is absolutely the only way to insure a problem free installation of your professional applications.
Herein are X's rules for a happy experience.
    • Make a list of all Applications to install. Which ones do you need? Go through your Applications and Utilities folder and note which ones you'll want to reinstall. Note the version.
(I don't know about you, but I had a shocking number of apps I downloaded, used for a few times and never used again. Forget installing these disused apps.)
    • If you are upgrading from a PPC to an intel machine, you'll want to know if the apps are UB or PPC. Upgrading your PPC software to UB can be a significant cost in a PPC to intel conversion. Know what you are getting into - do a search before installation to see if there is a UB version available. You can find out whether an app is PPC or UB by looking in System Profiler>Software>Applications. This window will also tell you the current installed version number. Generate a .pdf file of it and have everything listed for your records.
    • In the list, note whether is was a download or you have a disk. If it was a download, find the DMG or installer package and copy it to an external firewire drive. Put it in a folder titled - Apps to be installed - or something easily identifiable.
    • If you need to go back to a previous version (e.g. QT 6.5.2) download the dmg file BEFORE you start the installation process.
    • In the list, note if the application is a full install or an UPGRADE. If an upgrade, make sure you have the previous version's disks (as well as the serial numbers - see below).
If the UPGRADE version does not require the previous version to be present - eg when installing the upgrade version of FCP 6, DO NOT install earlier software. All you'll need is the previous serial number. The way to figure this out is to try to install the newest version. If it needs the previous version present before proceeding, the install process will tell you that.
Some upgrades will require that a version of the previous app is on the disk. If this is the case, when you install the first version, simply install the minimum so the app will be on the hard drive. You will need to do this because there will be NOTHING on the disk after you do your clean erase.
    • Referencing your list, find ALL your disks before you start. This includes previous versions if you are unsure whether they will be needed.
    • Spend some time looking through this forum for Professional Application installation issues. The classic example is a conflict between Logic and FCP. Install FCP first and you'll have no issues.
    • Sort your list into an installation sequence. Lay out your disks in that order.
    • Referencing the list, make sure you have ALL your serial numbers including those you've downloaded. I've purchased a number of programs on line and the only documentation of the serial number was an email. All those are kept in a dedicated folder in Mac Mail. For serial numbers that arrived via electronic means, use cut and paste instead of re-typing whenever possible. This will prevent errors in transcription.
In making the list, TEXT EDIT works ok, (I use Excel). Text edit has the benefit of being easily readable on any mac. Print the list out for reference, put a copy on a flash drive or a firewire drive where you can access it to cut and past serial numbers during the installation process.
    • Recognize this is going to take some time. Ranting, drinking too much coffee, swearing, sitting in front of the computer watching the progress bar, etc will not make things go faster. All it will to is put you in a really bad frame of mind. Do it over a weekend when you can be multitasking. While you are cleaning off the mountains of paper on your desk or raking the yard, you can take regular breaks to check on progress.
    Process -
    • Download Carbon Copy Cloner or one of the other backup utilities and do a full backup of your existing system drive to an external firewire drive. Make the drive bootable. *Do not* cheap out on this as this is your insurance policy. If you forget something or can not find a serial number, you often can find it and copy it from the backup system to the newly installed version. Or, if things go horribly wrong, you can simply copy the old system back to your computer and pick up where you left off.
If you have a MacPro or G5 tower, an alternative to cloning your existing system disk is to pick up a new hard drive to use as the clean new system disk. Your existing system disk will be the clone.
    • Once you have gathered and organized all the materials and backed up the drive or installed the new system drive ...
    • Erase the hard drive. Use the ZEROs option as this will map out any bad sectors. This will take time. See the note above.
    • Install the OS. If it is an upgrade install, see the note above regarding upgrade installs. Repair Permissions and then run the updates. Repair Permissions.
    • Install your applications following your list. Make sure to Repair Permissions after each install and update..
Have fun, be prepared for a few minor glitches. If you multitask, you can get the garage/ or office cleaned out and your computer rebuilt. In all honesty, this process took all weekend plus time in the next week as I discovered apps that needed additional updates, configuration settings, etc. No doubt it would have been faster if I was sitting at the console the whole time, but I was able to get the office cleaned up and organized (which also makes ME much faster). Overall it was a very slick process.
When you have a fully functioning system again (you have tested all applications and everything works), CLONE the new system and put your info, your notes and the disks in a safe place - once you've done this once, why go through the pain of organizing this stuff again ...
Now, rejoice in a much faster machine with a lot more free disk space.
    Cheers,
    x

  • Spinning Ball after wakeup from Sleep for a long time

If I wakeup my iMac after it has been a sleep overnight, the spinning ball appears does not stop. I am not able to click on anything with the mouse and the keyboard is not responsive. In other words, everything freezes up.
I have an external hard drive hooked up to the computer, if that is relevant.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I have 3 GBs of RAM. I typically have 3-4 apps running such as Safari, Firefox, and Word. This morning my computer woke up fine and there wasn't a spinning ball. I don't think I did anything yesterday that would have fixed the problem. Prior to this morning, I was having the spinning ball/freeze problem for the previous 4 days.
If the problem goes away, I'll post back to this forum.

  • Powerpoint spinning ball with change from Tiger to Snow Leopard

I recently replaced my G4s with a MacMini and a MacBook Pro. My Microsoft Office 2004 (all updates installed) works just fine in Word and Excel, but to attempt to open PowerPoint on either machine results in a spinning ball and freezing the entire computer.
I have done everything that the Microsoft website suggests, and nothing changes. Is this a nefarious plot by Microsoft to force me to buy Office 2011, or is there something else I can do to make this work. Help!

Uninstall Off '04 and reinstall it.

  • I have owned my MacBook Pro for several months.  Initially, I did not have any problems.  Now I have a problem with Yahoo Mail.  I can open my account, but when I try to get at my mail, 2 out of 3 times I get the spinning ball that never stops.  Now what?

I have owned my MacBook Pro for several months without having any problems with it. Recently I am having trouble with my Yahoo Mail.  I can open it fine, but 2 out of 3 times when I try to actually open a message, the spinning ball comes on the screen and does not stop. Sometimes, I can log out or force quit and come back in to my account and use it.  Other times, I run into the same problem.  Any suggestions?

No, your Yahoo account is not in iCloud (which only handles iCloud mail), it is in Yahoo, and the Yahoo mail account is on your iPad.
But the MacBook Pro will have none of it! I write this question now as I fear that I will be totally demented very soon and unable to formulate my thoughts clearly!
Get the correct settings for your account from Yahoo and set it up manually.
By the way, I also find the "password" issue problematical. It seems Apple want my Apple password rather than my eMail password. All very confusing.
That would depend on what you are trying to do.

  • MacBook Pro Retina showing spinning ball issues even after Main Logic Board Replacement

    HI there!
I'm a proud owner of Macbook Pro, 15 inch, late 2013 model. It has 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 processor; 16 GB Ram, 1 TB PCIe based SSD. The software version is OS X 10.9.4. I have AppleCare.
    1. MY mac developed rainbow beach ball issues. Sometimes it'll last for ages. I took several videos of them. I spent hours chatting with online Apple advisors. They did everything they could possibly do: Repair Disk, Repair Disk Permissions, SMC reset, PRAM reset. When nothing worked, I did clean-install the Mac six or seven times. Every time other apps would randomly cause the spinning ball issues. My Mac even restarted all on a sudden because of kernel panic. So at last, I took it to an Apple Store which is a one-mile drive from London. They diagnosed it as a graphics issues and replaced the Main Logic Board and put it to standard testing which revealed no other anomalies.  After the repair, I noticed that dock icons remain present for a dew seconds when I restart or shut down the computer. So this time I took it to a London Apple Retail Store. The Genius at first diagnosed it as a display burn-in issues and sent it to be replaced with a new one. However, next day the technician who actually worked on the computer, phoned me saying that they could not reproduce any issues and did not replace the display either. I went to take my Mac back and discovered that the dock icons stuff still persist when restarting or shutting down the Mac. When I drew their attention, they told me that it was a software issue that Apple is aware of. Apple might resolve the issues in the future updates. Well, after getting back to my hotel room, I clean-installed my OS  from USB and the dock icon issues were gone. Same version of software, but different behavior.
    2. But that's not the reason I'm here. My Mac has again begun to show the rainbow beach ball one day after the repair, when I try to connect to my Airport Time Capsule through Finder in order to selectively transfer files to my Mac. This time the spinning ball would last for a very short time. But if I want, I can regularly reproduce them. I've also noticed this when installing MS Office for Mac 2011 edition. I'm sure I'll get the nasty ball as I use the Mac more and more.
    3. I've got some questions: Can it be that during the MLB replacement, some other connectors got harmed? Or the issues are not specific to graphics only? Why didn't Apple find any anomalies during testing? I'll go to Apple Retail Store again, when I get the chance to. Once there, can I ask them for a full replacement of the Mac? Shall they take my request otherwise? I really don't feel comfortable using a shouldered computer which is going to go through many parts replacements.
    4. I sincerely need your feedback. Please help me guys out there.

Applecare was no help at all. I called and did the complaint. They confirmed that it is registered to me and everything but essetially told me that they cant give me answers as to what is taking so long. They knew a repair was in progress but wanted to set me up with an appointment at an apple store? (the nearest Apple retail store is Billings which is 240 miles away, or about 4 hours). i tell them its at the repair place and they go on to tell me they can send me a box to mail it in and have it reapir by them.. They are trying to shift the blame to the AASP and his rep. But he said he has been trying with very few answers from Apple as well
