Spinning beach ball getting worse. Out of ideas.

Last night I tried watching something on Netflix and I got the black screen and the beach ball after a few minutes a pop up with "script: xstringbundle:61" popped up. After shutting down everything and restarting my Mac I tried again, same thing, but I continued script and got an different error message "script:chrome://browser/content/browser.js:4037".
I did my best armchair research and restarted it all again, uninstalled silver light, and JavaScript, reinstalled them, clear my cookies and caches, tried to check some other things without success so I didn't touch them and now the beach ball is worse and affecting my Mac without Firefox being on, such as trying to open finder and the like. Help a girl out, please! I need my computer for work and have wasted the last 4 hours trying to do it myself.

It seems like something may have gotten corrupt on your drive.
Start your macBook Pro while holding down the Command R keys to boot your MBP with the Recovery HD.
In the Recovery HD, open up Disk Utility. Do a drive repair as well as a permissions repair to see if that fixes your issue.
If this does not fix the issue, you can again use Command R and then reinstall the version of Mac OS that you have on your MBP.
Just a note. If you install Mac OS over your existing installation you will not lose any of your data on the drive

Ok will check, as of right now I have 82.57gb free, that's plenty of space will check the disk though using disk utility. Also I am now downloading the update from the apple website instead of going through software update

ID CS4: Spinning beach ball is driving me mad

I mentioned this inside another thread, then decided I needed to start my own topic.
I've got a 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Mac with 4 GB of memory (running Tiger), and have noticed a serious slow-down when moving from ID CS3 to ID CS4.
I have shut off dynamic spelling, page thumbnails, link thumbnails, etc., and yet I still am seeing WAY too much of that spinning beach ball. Worse, it frequently shows up in Force-Quit as "Not Responding". It does eventually respond, but I can't stand having to pause after every single edit to wait on the program.
I have also tried restarting my Mac, and dumping the preferences for ID, and it doesn't seem to help. My next step is to try rebuilding the document fresh, in case the file is corrupted. Luckily, this particular document is only 4 pages; I hesitate to think what this would be like on a long document!
Are there any bugs with this most recent patch release that I should be aware of?

I'm leery of creating a new user, so I haven't tried that yet. My InDesign is version 6.0.1.
Of course this happened AFTER I decided to upgrade my magazine from CS3 to CS4. And it is happening with multiple documents.
Just this morning, I ran Onyx and repaired permissions, along with executing the usual maintenance routines. I even cleaned the font cache. Nothing has seemed to help.
Several times this morning ID hung up as "not responding", and if I left it alone, it would clear out 5 minutes later (which is not exactly time-efficient, if you know what I mean). I noticed that someone else mentioned it hanging up when using tables, and this latest freeze-up did indeed happen while I was working with a table.

Spinning Beach Ball in Safari, relentless, despite passing hardware diagnostics

My early 2008 24" iMac gets the spinning beach ball and stalls out, I use Safari constantly so that's where I'm noticing it the most. When I reboot the computer, it initially works, then after a few minutes it starts spinning again. Sometimes my pages load, sometimes not and then I have to close Safari and open it again to get it to work.
I installed Smart Utility And Smart Reporter, checked my harddrive with those programs, it passed all the tests. I run Onyx weekly. I check my activity monitor, I have plenty of harddrive space, my CPU usage is low, I don't have a lot of open programs, but I still get the beach ball. When I access the Force Close Applications, it shows Safari not responding. Sometimes my third party MailPlane will also show that it isn't responding,
I've read everything I can think of, can't figure it out.
I do have a replacement Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 (AF) 500 GB in this computer. I replaced the original harddrive two years ago. I also have 4GB of RAM, 2 GB in each slot. I thought perhaps I was having harddrive failure again, but every test I run says my harddrive is okay.

Since you didn't include any pertinent info such as the Mac model and OS version you are running, here is some general information:
Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startup
Depending on which OS yours came with originally - and which OS you are now running - you would either need your original install disks - you can call Apple for replacements by giving them your serial number. Or you may be able to reinstall the OS by using recovery (again, depends on which model/which OS).

My Macbook pro started running incredibly slow and I am getting the spinning beach ball of death across all applications.

I have no idea why this is happening. I normally use Word, Excel, Google Chrome and sometimes Photoshop when using my computer and then one day it started getting super slow. This is my etrecheck.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. The beachball is literally every other minute. I tried to take the time to it's most basic second and it was 4:01:04 - I am currently backpacking in Laos with my bf and we are travel writers/photographers and he is helping me get this info.
We didn't know what anonymyze meant but we tried to make sure you couldn't see my name. So far the spinning beach ball has occurred 4 times in just writing these 4 lines.

Going to 'Sent' gets me spinning beach ball

When I go to check my 'Sent' folder in Mail, I keep getting the spinning beach ball and I end up having to force quit Mail.
Any idea what's going on?

This is also happening when I have an AOL account installed now for some reason. I have to go into Preferences real quickly to delete it and that takes care of the beach ball problem.
So basically, AOL account is causing my Mail problems.

I have tried both ways. Generally I save a current quote to desktop and so open the programme by clicking on the quote thumbnail.

Spinning beach balls out of control-bad RAM?

I have a late-2006 Intel iMac upgraded with the maximum amount of supported RAM (3GB) and running OS X 10.4.11 + Security Update 2008-001. Starting a couple of weeks ago, I started being plagued with spinning beach balls out the wazoo—everywhere from the login screen to loading pages in Safari to opening e-mails in Entourage. They're not frequent enough to make the system unusable, but they are frequent enough to tick me off. In addition, startup and shutdown have gotten extremely sluggish.
Neither Disk Utility nor DiskWarrior reveals any permissions or directory problems, and my HD's S.M.A.R.T. status is OK. AHT doesn't turn up anything either, though I haven't tried running it in extended mode. PRAM and SMU resets don't seem to make a difference.
My RAM is from OWC—could it possibly have gone bad? I also get the error "Can't create temp image" when I try to update prebinding in Terminal; could that be a clue to a problem as well? Any other possibilities, e.g., a bad power supply?

You could run your Apple Hardware Test to check your hardware. Most here feel the free Rember does a better job testing RAM.

There is no such Trojan or other malware known today that will do that using OS X nor has there ever been one. The most probable explanation is that somebody hacked into your e-mail account on the server, so you should change that password to something stronger right away. If it had come from your Mac then there would almost certainly be copies of those messages in your Sent Mail mailbox.

Can't seem to get rid of Spinning Beach Ball in Mail

As someone else put it... it seems that Yosemite is Apple's VISTA. Mail is fast becoming my most annoying App because clicking on almost any email seems to send the signal for the Spinning Beach Ball to appear. Looking at activity monitor, it says that Mail is Not Responding, and then after a minute or two, the email finally opens.
I'm thinking that perhaps Apple isn't testing Yosemite on older iMacs like mine, a circa 2007 (?) iMac7,1 identifier currently trying to run Yosemite OS X v.10.10.1 on my Intel 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo running 6 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. Mail is one issue, I'm also seeing Multiple IP Address issues. I'm trying to purge EMAils especially those that have images in them... figure I'll part the images on a USB HDD, and delete all those actual emails. Even that is tough because the minute I highlight

OK, here's my current Etrecheck. Maybe somebody can decipher this and give me a clue on how to resolve my problems. I should not that I no longer have Elgato's EyeTV but I'm unsure about the correct method used to remove software like this, especially if there's no uninstall program that completely removes any references to it. I did run the activity monitor and it seems like Kernel Task (?) is at the top of the list (Shows 541.1MB now) all the time when I select the MEMORY column. Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. Test.

No more spinning beach ball when you click on get mail?

Hi
I just bought a new iMac.
I did not have M/L on my old machine. In the mail program in it (it had Lion) when you clicked on the Get Mail button, a beach ball would spin to let you know that it was looking for mail. There is no spinning beach ball in the M/L mail program. So, how do I know that it is working? Other then when an email shows up in the in box?

The "spinning gear" activity indicator is no more available in Mountain Lion.
Apple removed it.
There is a "MAIL ACTIVITY" progress bar available in the left sidebar.
