Spitting the spool request by the system

HI,
The client is expecting only one spool. But the system is generating muttiple spool. We have tested this in the development We are getting only one spool. But in prod we are getting mutiple spool. I am not sure through which parameter, tt is happening or because of the more data, the system itsself is spitting the spool. Please provide more information if you have come across such a situation

need solution..

An error occurred when processing the spool request. (Possibly due to memory problems)

Hi SAP,
My backgroud job is failing with log as shown below
Job started

Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE

Hello Mohammed,
Have you seen any error in your SM21 system log and developer trace of spool work process
during that time?
The maximum size when create spool is 2GB.Pls also check if you are creating a spool
larger than it.

How to delete the spool request number

The program are RSPO0041 or RSPO1041.
This is handy whenever you encounter a user who managed to create a lot of spool requests which are choking your system.
Deleting them with SP01 will be too slow and you will get time out if it exceed the online time limit specify by your basis people.

I forgot to inform you of that:
1) [Note 193638 - Calculating spool number from file names as of 4.0A|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/193638] (indicates the algorithm of UNIX file names). This note also indicates "For Release 4.0A, the maximum spool number has been increased from 99000 to 2000000000. The maximum number of output requests per spool request has been increased to 32767 as well."
2) I think I forgot one of your initial questions:

By default, SAP tries to append pages to existing spools with same characteristics. If they are always different, a new spool request is always created. So, you may change some characteristics so that they are identical and SAP will reuse existing spools. See rules in [Note 85318 appending documents to existing spool requests|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/85318].

Track/Audi the graphical display of a spool request

I have the following question: Is it possible to track/audit which user ID is accessing/opening the "type" of a spool request?
I thought it would be a rspo parameter but I haven't found anything related. If it is not possible then the only thing that can be tracked is who is running tcod SP01?

I have to give it to you that a user with the correct authorizations and no additional access (highly unlikely) will experience almost identical system behaviour in the transactions SP01 and SP02.
- 3 differences are that the screens and PAI (Process After Input) modules are different, so there are more menu options in SP01 even although the program is the exact same one.
- You can display an overview of spool locks, so if you could provoke an entry in the overview to appear then other S_SPO_ACT actions could be used on them (e.g. redirect to a local printer).
- The SU24 proposals will tempt many folks into granting much more than just SPAR admi action. This also plays a role in the choice of transaction, and I often create "dummy" transactions for the identical programs or ones which do nothing to achieve the same.
We can write a PhD about this.... but perhaps if you explain why you want SP01 with enhanced options in the stead of SP02 then it will be clearer, despite all urban legends being in your disfavour..

Why is it important to monitor SP01 or the Spool Requests?

Part of my tasks is to monitor the SAP systems we are handling but I would like to get the concept of the need to monitor SP01 such as if there are errors what is the impact in the system? In the spool work process etc?

Hello,
Normally you won't need to monitor SP01, cause many times the amount of spool requests generated is too large and lets say you do wish to monitor only those spools which had an error still its better to check this in SM21 as it would have more details about what went wrong.
To keep your TEMSE database (spool database) healthy, I would rather monitor and run transactions and execute menu options of the following.
SP12 -> Temse Data Storage -> Consistency checks
SPAD -> Administration -> Check Consistency
As deepak noted, you can schedule standard cleanup jobs SAP_REORG_SPOOL to perform regular cleanup.
Start transaction SM36 and click on the standard jobs button, this would take you to a screen where you can schedule standard jobs.
Select the job related to SPOOL and schedule it with the required parameters.
Here is the list of Standard Basis jobs that you should have in your systems.

How to know the spool requests generated from my program?

I want to get the spool request(s) that are generated from my report that's run either in foreground or background? how to know this? i know that we can go to sm37 and see, but is there any table or fm which stores this data? if i give my program name that's run on a particular date, i should get the spool request numbers. tsp01 only has the spool no. and not the program name..pl suggest...thanks all

The system field sy-spono contains the spool numbers .
If you have such requirement, you can create one custom table with fields :
spool no, program , date , time
whenever you run ur program update this table ,
with system fields . spono , sy-repid , sy-datum and sy-uzeit .

How to retrive the old spool requests

In one of our system we ran a job, the spool requests are created.
When i tried to view it was deleted. Is there any way to see the old spool and retrive the old spool back.
This is a critical issue, please help me out.

Hai,
It is not possible to retrive data after it has been deleted from the table.
Deleted means by the housekeeping jobs. You will not find the entries in the table as a result you cannot query the table to get the results you needed.
Restore means when a database is damaged it can be returned to a correct and consistent state with a restore procedure.
In your case if you want the old spool request you can restore the backup of a particular date corresponding to the date of the spool request.

How to create the multiple spool requests for a single report.

I have one requirement to be completed , i need to send the out put of the report via mail in pdf format. for that what i did was, iam executing report in background and creating spool request and converting it to pdf and sending the file.
now the problem is, its a customer ledger report, for each customer i need to create a new spool request and send mail to that particular customer, now my dought is how to create multiple spool requests for a single pro and how i need to go about it.
And one more question is can we create a spool request for a report which is running in online.

output_options-tdnewid = 'X'.
and then using

Write the Error log from background Job to the Spool request

Hi ,
I have a situation where in i need to capture the error log of a Z program which runs as a background job and write that log into the spool request. My Z program calls runs RSEINB00 program using the SUBMIT statement. When this Job fails the error log can be seen in SM37. But i need this error log to be sent in to a spool.
I can read the error log using the BP_JOBLOG_READ FM and can also create a spool using the RSPO_SPOOL_OPEN FM.
The problem is, when the Submit statement executes, due to internal valdation in the RSEINB00 program the program terminates. Due to this it is not able to perform the SY-SUBRC Check and thus doesn't read the log.
Can anybody suggest me how to overcome this problem. I am attaching the code for your refernece.

I also had similar issue couple of months back when I was trying to access a remote URL from a Windows service when the site does not exists in the server where service resides.
You cannot access a remote url (even though it is SharePoint server and also in same network ) from server object model.
SPSite can look in the current server only. here what is happening is SPSite will look for this in the current server DB and it is not finding this errror.
So please dont use ServerObject model for accessing remote sites. You can use Client Object model for the code /requirement you have stated above.
I wasted lot of time in finding a work around to make to work. It did not. So look for other options.

I am using RSTXPDF4 to convert a spool request to PDF format , when I execute this program by giving the spool number and dstdevic as Local , its giving   the message as " Spool request XXXXX with PDF data created ".
But the problem is when I open this spool request its printing the Junk characters ..!!!
What could be the problem ?

has anyone found a fix for this issue? i'm currently experiencing the same issue and would like to know how i can fix this..
Spool requests are being sent the the B9 printer queue. Most spool requests are for one page, when there are spool requests for multiple pages these spool requests take longer to create, in the meantime, other spool requests that are single pages are going to the printer queue. This creates and "out-of-vendor-order" issue during printing.
The out of vendor order sequencing creates a significant level of work effort for the business users to resort the printed copies in order to prepare the documents for mailing. A change is required to eliminate this manual effort.
Development has indicated an enhancement could be made to the RSNAST00 program where only those print jobs for application "MR" with transmission "1" (for print) would be gathered in groups of "X" number of documents to create one spool, prior to creating the spool, a check would be made to see if the next document was for the same vendor, if so the next document/s would be included in the same spool, when a new vendor was found, a new spool would be created.
To temporarily fix the issue the jobs have been placed on "no execute" and the support team is identifing the chargebacks and RTV created during the week, manually running the RSNAST00 program in groups of 500 - 800 documents, ensuring all doucments for a vendor a sent in the same spool request.

Nobody know the answer to this one? Stephen@Azzu:Here's a good one...I'm using Crysal Reports XI (fully service packed) and the reports I have created are being used in a VB.Net application. I have no problems whatsoever in printing the reports, everything is fine. However, when the report is sent to the printer, the printer queue displays 'document' as the, err, document name. I'd like it to say something more relevant, such as the document number the user selected.So I've tried setting the ReportDocument.Name but wait, it's read only!? How about the summary info? No change. Filename? No change either. I've browsed the internet, searched the knowledge base and found nothing. So my question is this...How do I get the printer queue to display an appropriate name for my document?Stephen
