Splash screen after import--it hides under LR--

After an import, the pictures that are duplicates, and not imported appear in a list in a splash screen that doesn't show up until I minimize LR. That is because it appears underneath LR which takes full screen on my Macbook. In my opinion, it should appear on the top of LR where it is visible. For what its worth. Thanks. I couldn't find this in the knowledge base.

I forgot to ask a question. The question is can I make the splash screen show up on top of the lightroom window? Phil Starr

  • Hp Pavilion P6724IT Stuck at HP Splash screen after install of new VGA

    Hello people.
    I buyed a new VGA, a Gigabyte GT740 2GB DDR5, before that i had an Asus GT630 2GB DDR3 and had no problems with it.
    After mounting the new VGA i noticed the computer remains stuck at the initial splash screen with the HP logo.
    Can't even get in to the bios, but if i remove the card and use it's igpu it's all ok.
    I tried to update the bios to the latest version on the HP site (v.7.15) and nothing.
    Tried to install with Windows 8.1, and with windows 7, nothing.
    I tried all things i found on the net of people with the same issue, nothing again.
    If i am fast enough and i press some keys it gets black screen and remains stuck anyway, do some beeps and then go in some kind of standby and if i keep pressed any key it does some cracklin noise.
    Actually i can't afford a new motherboard so i wanted to find out with your help if i can find a solution to the problem, cause it's really frustrating and i spent many time trying to figure it out.
    Sorry for my bad english!
    Hope someone can help me

  • Ideacentre B520 won't boot past Lenovo splash screen after windows updates

    This happened about 2hrs ago with my B520. Was working perfectly fine before this. Performed Microsoft updates as suggested, system prompted a re-boot to complete installation, system never came back completely. Only begins to boot and stops at the Lenovo splash screen at the very initial stage of boot. It never moves beyond the Lenovo Screen even after holding the power button and forcing shut-down.  Someone please help!! Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    First try and see if it's not a lenovo little bug that happens to a lot people:
    Disconnect the pc from power for like 5 minutes or longer.  Then try to boot, see if it works again.
    if it doesn't boot as normal yet , still let it be for at least 20 or 30 minutes to see if it boots after that.

  • Aperture stuck at splash screen after HD ejection.

    I am running the latest version of Aperture with the latest version of Leopard. Aperture works fine and never crashes on my Mac Pro. But when I eject a LaCie Firwire 800 drive from the machine I am unable to launch Aperture. This drive has nothing on it related to Aperture, n Vault or Library. I can open Aperture fine without it connected, but as soon as I connect it and eject it, Aperture will only open the splash screen and do nothing else, no beach ball or antything.
    Restarting the computer seems to be the only thing that resolves this issue, any thoughts on what this could be?
    Thanks!

    I have seen Aperture hang at the splash screen because it is waiting for disk devices. It sounds like your mac still thinks the Lacie drive is connected and is waiting for it. How did you eject it? Are you running any kind of soft RAID? How is the disk formatted?
    That said, it's Lacie, so anything is possible. I have not seen much good said about their hard drives.

  • Strange screens after importing SPS8

    We've installed SPS8 on our EP 7.00. After this, some screens are shown in a sort of plain text instead of the normal table style screens. As an example please take a look at the startscreen of User Administration --> Identity Management. The normal screen consists of a table with buttuns. In our system the table is gone and the buttons have been replaced by links. Is this a Webdynpro issue or what? Please advise.

    Hi,
    Does the issue occur only for custom themes ? Is it working for standard themes ?
    If it indeed occurs only for custom themes edit your theme from System administrator > Portal display > Theme editor and save it once without making changes and check if it helps.

  • After Effects CS5.5 - Lion: Crash on splash screen EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGABRT)

    So one day, out of the blue, After Effects stops wanting to open. The worst part is, I can't think of any changes that would have caused this.
    I am running After Effects CS5.5 (10.5.1) on my MacBook Pro 13" (Early 2011), which is running Mac OSX Lion. Here is my system profile (with some sections omitted).
    Just a few weeks ago, I began to consistently receive this message during the AE splash screen:
    After Effects Alert
    Last log message was: <140735295236448> <ASL.ResourceUtils.GetLanguageIDFromRegistry> <0> Unable to obtain the User 'Language' registry key at: Software\Adobe\After Effects\10.5.1\ Defaulting to 'en_US'.
    Here is a crash log.
    Any ideas?
    First attempt
    I figured maybe I had a bad preference file, so I cleared my prefs. Nothing changed aside from a modified error message:
    After Effects Alert
    Last log message was: <140735295236448> <DynamicLink> <5> 0x114ee8418
    And a crash log.
    Also, if I try opening AE again, after I cleared my prefs and opened it once, the error message returns to the "registry key" alert.
    Second, third, fourth attempt
    So I uninstalled and reinstalled After Effects about 3 times. No change. I used the latest download from Adobe, and the original Master Collection image: no difference.
    Fifth attempt
    I created a second admin account to see if this was an isolated issue. It isn't; same problem.
    Sixth attempt
    I thought about QuickTime, so I opened up System Prefs, and uninstalled Perian. I left the prefpane there though.
    Also, I have the latest version of Java.
    Seventh attempt (Added 19 March 2012)
    I used the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool to wipe out my entire Adobe installation. I still have the same problem after a reinstall. I'm going to try installing AE on my external drive next. This is really frustrating. Has anyone experienced this issue and found a resolution?
    Notes
    Interestingly enough, all of the other Abobe CS5.5 apps I installed work fine:
    Bridge
    Photoshop
    Illustrator
    InDesign
    Premiere Pro
    OnLocation
    Extension Manager
    Added 1:54PM, 13 March 2012:
    Also, opening up the render engine causes the same error message.

    I just installed AE, have never used it, and am seeing it bail on startup with the same odd language registry key error. Please see my post on a related thread.
    Any luck here? Would be nice to get AE to boot so I could evaluate it.

  • Main program start before splash screen, help

    hi:
    below is the splash screen code:

              super(f);
              JLabel l = new JLabel(new ImageIcon(filename));
              getContentPane().add(l, BorderLayout.CENTER);
              pack();
              Dimension screenSize = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize();
              Dimension labelSize = l.getPreferredSize();
              setLocation(screenSize.width / 2 - (labelSize.width / 2), screenSize.height / 2 - (labelSize.height / 2));
              addMouseListener(new MouseAdapter() {
                   public void mousePressed(MouseEvent e) {
                        setVisible(false);
                        dispose();
              final int pause = waitTime;
              final Runnable closerRunner = new Runnable() {
                   public void run() {
                        setVisible(false);
                        dispose();
              Runnable waitRunner = new Runnable() {
                   public void run() {
                        try {
                             Thread.sleep(pause);
                             SwingUtilities.invokeAndWait(closerRunner);
                        } catch (Exception e) {
                             e.printStackTrace();
                             // can catch InvocationTargetException

              setVisible(true);
              Thread splashThread = new Thread(waitRunner, "SplashThread");
              splashThread.start();
    below is the constructor that started the splash and the main:
    public static void main(String args[])
    PictureViewer PV = new PictureViewer();
    standaloneApp = true;
    splash Splash sw = new Splash("prestigestetho.gif",null, 5000);
    the splash appear just fine, the problem is that it appears after
    my main program appear first.
    I try to shift the priority of splash, which is sw first and then PV,
    in that case the splash screen appear first then PV, but this time PV
    stay in front of sw makes it totally not viewable.
    is there any method to make splash screen appear first and on the screen you can see the process of main program starting up (for example
    : loading this ...., loading that.....) something like acrobat reader's
    startup screen, and then splash screen disappear and then main program
    pop up.

  • Splash screen works from browser, not when double-clicked on desktop

    Hi,
    I am having trouble making a splash screen appear and have a specific question about it.
    The code is from the tutorial at:
    http://blogs.sun.com/thejavatutorials/entry/changing_the_java_web_start
    I have changed the codebase attribute of the jnlp element so it refers to my own server:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <!-- JNLP File for ButtonDemo -->
    <jnlp spec="1.0+" codebase="https://justanexample.com/buttondemo" href="ButtonDemo.jnlp">
      <information>
        <title>ButtonDemo</title>
        <vendor>The Java(tm) Tutorial: Sun Microsystems, Inc.</vendor>
        <homepage href="http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/examples/components/index.html#ButtonDemo"/>
        <icon href="mysplash.jpg" kind="splash"/>
        <description>ButtonDemo</description>
        <description kind="short">Demonstrates use of buttons within containers</description>
        <offline-allowed/>
      </information>
      <resources>
        <j2se version="1.6+"/>
        <jar href="ButtonDemo.jar"/>
      </resources>
      <application-desc main-class="components.ButtonDemo"/>
    </jnlp> This JNLP, the mysplash.jpg, and the ButtonDemo.jar are deployed to the web server, under a "buttondemo" subdirectory of the web server's DocumentRoot.
    If I access the JNLP from a browser (https://justanexample.com/buttondemo/ButtonDemo.jnlp), things work as expected:
    The first time "Java Loading" appears.
    The mysplash.jpg is cached and can be seen in the Resource list with "javaws -viewer."
    During the second and subsequent launches, the custom splash screen appears as expected.
    However, if I have the JNLP file on my desktop, and I open it from there with a double-click, I never see the splash screen.
    My question: Why is this? Shouldn't I see the splash screen after the first launch, even if I launched by double-clicking the JNLP file on my desktop?
    Why I care:
    While I've shown the problem using ButtonDemo, I am having the same issue with my own application. I'd like to have an icon on the desktop the user can click. I do have it working, but using a workaround I consider fragile and perhaps inappropriate.
    I am using the 1.6.0_18-b07 version of the JRE on Vista SP2.
    Thanks in advance for any explanation/help.
    Edited by: mmissire on Feb 10, 2010 7:52 PM

    I couldn't get this to work. For the benefit of anyone needing something similar, here's what I did to work around it.
    At install time, my app already unpacked some config files into a known place under the user's home directory. So I now unpack a splash screen there, as well.
    The desktop shortcut tells javaws to skip it's splash screen with -Xnosplash, and then tells the JVM to use a local one (with the -J"splash:" argument). Something like this worked well enough:
    C:\Windows\System32\javaws.exe -J"-splash:C:\Users\whoever\appname\splash.jpg" -Xnosplash "C:\Users\whoever\appname\app.jnlp"

  • Tecra A9 stuck on the splash screen

    Hello,
    I'm new to your forum and hope to find help.
    I have a Toshiba Tecra A9 stuck on the splash screen after my intervention in the bios to boot from a USB stick.
    _DETAILS:_
    At the start, it turns more on the startup screen with the 5 symbol of choice (hard disk, USB, etc.).
    Clicking on a symbol and nothing responds I can not enter the bios.
    It is displayed at the top of the screen: In Touch With Tomorrow TOSHIBA and five symbols.
    I disconnected two small green battery on the motherboard for 10 minutes, but nothing has changed.
    That said, I do not know if I disconnected the battery good (y 'have it two?).
    It also would it make a metal button battery on the motherboard?
    Thank you in advance for your help.
    Alain

    Hi
    If the notebook cannot pass the Toshiba Splash Screen then this means that the POST (power on self test) cannot be passed properly and this means mostly than an hardware part on the motherboard or the motherboard itself is faulty
    Thats worst case since the mobo is very expensive :(

  • Splash Screen Appears as a White Rectangle

    Hi,
    I am trying to show a splash screen in my application, which is to be shown as long as a runtime process has completed execution.
    The code i used for the Splash screen is:
    import javax.swing.JWindow;
    import javax.swing.ImageIcon;
    import javax.swing.JLabel;
    import javax.swing.SwingUtilities;
    import java.awt.MediaTracker;import java.awt.BorderLayout;
    import java.awt.Dimension;
    import java.awt.*;
    public class Splash implements Runnable
    private JWindow splashWindow;
    private String message;
    protected JLabel label;
    public Splash(String initMsg)
    this.message = initMsg;
    public void run()
    label = new JLabel(message);
    splashWindow = new JWindow();
    splashWindow.getContentPane().add(label, BorderLayout.CENTER);
    splashWindow.pack();
    splashWindow.setSize(splashWindow.getSize().width, splashWindow.getSize().height);
    Dimension dim = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize();
    splashWindow.setLocation(dim.width/2 - splashWindow.getWidth() /2,dim.height/2 -
    splashWindow.getHeight()/2);
    splashWindow.toFront();
    splashWindow.show();
    public JWindow getWindow()
    return splashWindow;
    public void close()
    splashWindow.dispose();
    public void showStatus(final String status)
    label.setText(status);
    splashWindow.show();
    In my main program, i am using the Splash class as follows:
    splash = new Splash("Drawing Graph...");
    Thread th = new Thread(splash);
    th.start();
    while (splash.getWindow() == null || !splash.getWindow().isShowing())
    try
    th.sleep(100);
    catch (InterruptedException e){}
    try
    Thread.sleep(1000);
    catch (InterruptedException e) {}
    Process proc = null;
    proc = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(....some process to draw a graph....);
    proc.waitFor();
    // deal with the proc streams....
    splash.showStatus("Drawing Graph....Done");
    splash.close();
    The problem is that, the splash window appears as a blank rectangle without any string on in. It appears and closes properly. But, it does not show the status string.
    Please help!!!
    thanks,

  • Strange overbright effect after importing the movie

    Im trying to convert my HD (sony sr7)underwater video to a dvd, but somehow after importing in Imovie the sandy bottom of the ocean turns overbright. I've tried importing as large and as full but got the same overbright effect.
    For instance the sunlight that reflects on the coral, is also incredibly bright, the coral disappears for a bright white spot.
    When i try the same on my pc with Sony picture motion browser, the result is like it should be. But then i miss the editing abilities of imovie....
    Anyone got an idea how to darken those spots ? Or even better get a decent import ?

    There are many formats you can export to. It is possible to choose just quicktime or mpeg4 that I choosed.
    SP means shortplay. But I want to say LP what means longplay. I recorded another movie in SP and now I don't have the problem anymore.
    So a dvd in LP mode ripped to mpeg4 with DVDxDV causes problems with a twisted screen after importing to iMovie 08.
    In SP mode there is no problem anymore.
    Thank you!

  • HELP!! 700W STUCK IN TREO SPLASH SCREEN

    My Treo 700w seems to be bricked -- all I get is the first splash screen upon inserting the battery. The power button will not turn the unit off.  Cannot re-flash unit via activesync because USB won't work either.
    I've executed multiple hard resets and even though the reset "erase" message appears the unit goes right back to Treo splash screen after tapping "up" but no progress bar appears.
    Is there a way to re-flash via SD card?
    This seems a common problem with w and wx units, there are two similar posts with over 900 views and no replies or solutions, what's going on that neither Verizon or Palm can deal with this?
    See posts:

    For those finding this page and saying $%#*, there is a solution!
    You can use an SD card and reinstall the rom (OS) update directly from there without using your data cable.
    Instructions for updating ROM
    Format SD Card as FAT32.
    Copy Rom image to root of SD card.
    Remove Battery from phone, and unplug the power cord.
    Reinsert BATTERY while holding the up volume button on the side of the phone.
    Follow on screen prompts.
    Once the update starts, PLUG IN your power cord. You don't want the battery to go dead while updating.
    Wait for approximately 20 minutes for the update to complete.
    Once you align page and close the tour, it may look like it needs to update again. Click cancel/exit!

  • HT1926 I am running Windows XP SP3 at first running after Install - splash screen cannot be removed so that I can start to import disks.  Stanley

    I am running Windows XP SP3. Every time I go to the "Music" category so that I can Import CDs and then subsequently play my music, the Tutorial Splash Screen gets in the way and I cannot seem to get rid of it...Since I like iTunes 9 layout - that is the one that I dowloaded and installed.  Help please the Splash Screen is "bugging me"

    Many thanks.
    With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:

    (If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended freezes on startup under Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit - No splash screen

    I installed my licensed copy of Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended today as part of my install a bunch of software after a reinstall of Windows (due to viruses).  I did a completely fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.  I've used Photoshop CS3 Extended for quite a while now so I know what to expect on startup but it was previously installed under Windows XP Professional (32-bit). Figured I would give Windows 7 a chance this time around.
    Google searches aren't turning up anything.  When I attempt to start the application, I get a window with the title "Adobe Photoshop CS3" (no "Extended" - I seem to recall the title changes later) and the toolbar appears.  However, no splash screen appears and no Product Activation wizard appears - the application simply freezes on an empty frame and a toolbar.  I've tried running Photoshop as Administrator (right-click, "Run As Administrator"), but nothing changed there.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling.  I tried upgrading to CS3 10.0.1.  Nothing works.  The application simply freezes before it gets anywhere.
    I tried calling Adobe Support since this technically falls under installation issues but their phone support systems are down today.  Go figure.
    Edit:  I hooked into Photoshop with the Visual Studio debugger and every single thread is executing some variation of WaitForSingleObject() or WaitForMultipleObjects().  The main thread is "executing" somewhere in AdobeLM_libFNP.dll (at address 09619d81 - if I had debugging symbols for CS3, I could provide a function).  There are nine threads "running" at the point the freeze occurs - but all of them are technically suspended due to the functions they are executing - and one thread is in a suspended state.

    And, according to the Event Viewer, the "Binary" data translates to a zero-terminated Unicode string of "Cross-thread".
    My Visual Studio analysis was far more informative.  All threads are hung inside of WaitForSingleObject() and WaitForMultipleObjects() calls and the DLL in question appears to be FlexNet-related.  I did forget to mention that I also even manually started the FlexNet service in case, for some strange reason, Photoshop was waiting for it to start.  That also did not work.
    (And there is nothing in the Action Center control panel either despite the message saying there might be more information there.)
    Edit:  The timestamp above might be a little odd-looking.  I didn't originally see anything in Event Viewer until I clicked the first button to send an Error Report.  Mostly I just skipped that part of killing a process.
