Splash Screen freeze

guys i have a very peculiar problem and please do provide me with a solution.
I have a lenovo G570 and have been using it without any problems for the past 1.5 years. Recently it has started pissing me off.
When i start my laptop, the first screen which appears stating the big LENOVO and insyde h20bios, my laptop gets stuck there and my fan revs up like a super car. AFter like 10 seconds of this freeze laptop shuts down itself.
HELP APPRICIATED

It might be overheating.  Have you tried cleaning the fan and cooling assembly?

BLACK SCREEN startup with 3 beeps, FREEZES when power unplugged, IF IT BOOTS splash screen freezes, OVERHEATING REQUIRED TO BOOT - 0x7B, Event 41 kernel-powe
Issue: One day I unplug the power, the screen freezes and I get frozen music sound. I shut down, start up, I get 3 beeps (1 short 2 long), which indicates a Video failure according to the Thinkpad Laptop beep code list.
How I solve the issue day-to-day: I turn the heat up - I disconnect the battery and hard drive and plug in the power then turn it on. I will wait until the underneath is searing hot with a blanket blocking the fan's flow of air, I mean way hot because any cooler and it won't start. Plug stuff back in, Hard drive first, Battery second, turn off with power button hold, unplug power, replug power.
I turn it on, no beeps, it goes past the first Lenovo screen, then gives me a prompt because it "didn't shut down properly" and continue regular startup. What happens next is the Windows logo appears, and just as the animated windows logo starts to move (you see 2 small colored dots on the screen), it freezes. I see this every time, I know naturally that it means that the laptop is still too hot to go past that point, so I shut it down and try again. After about 5 - 10 tries it will go past the splash screen and into the login area, then it's all fine.
Sometimes when I unplug the power from the back by accident it will freeze. By accident I mean that the connector wiggles it's self out easily. This unplug freezing thing started happening about 1 week before the 3 beep black screen problem started rolling, so I'm putting 2 together.
    Errors:
I got a Blue Screen of Death the first time I started it up with the overheating ritual, but I never got it since. It was 0X7B. I ended up changing a setting in BIOS from AHCI to Compatibility Mode, and I passed everything without the BSOD again. I have always had it on AHCI.
I got another Blue Screen of Death about a week ago, but came as it was on already and I had been using it, and said something about disabling Cache or Shadowing in BIOS. I never got it since.
    BIOS:
Also, the time was set to 1988 or something in the BIOS.

I came across a very sluggish performing control panel for Nvidia before and after this problem, and I tried installing a newer version, which I had to jump through a few hoops to do, like uninstalling first, not just updating. At first it said that the driver wasnt made for the system, or that it wasnt compatible or something, which was wrong. I made it work somehow, but it was still sluggish after install. I rolled it back to an earlier driver, and now it works fine oddly. No sluggish performance / slight freeze window thing going on. No problem at all.
MSCONFIG.exe, Boot Advanced Options: I have tried twice to change this 1 setting, check box "Number of processors" and change to 2 processors, because I do have 2 processors. I have been able to change this in the past, but it does not save the setting now, and I believe this option was selected before I started having problems, and settings did not disappear then.
What could this be. The small round BIOS battery? The video card like everyone presumes? (I.E. the entire motherboard replacement), Software? The wiggly power input area? (Not enough power getting in?), Firmware of some sort? The BIOS software being wrong?

You wont get good Nvidia ones on Ebay/forumes anywhere.
I'd beg to differ on both accounts.
*61 series nVidia-based ThinkPads from late January through July of 2008 are a 50/50 shot, since the old chips were mixed with the new ones. Any machine built in August and later can be deemed "safe".
As for the forums (I don't do feebay) there are people who sell genuine, properly-tested planars. However, these do not come at bargain basement prices, and with a good reason if I may add.
    Good luck.

Just had the same issue... went through the steps here: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/error-changing-modules-lightroom.html
For me it was Solution 5. I had to change permissions and add me as a user (only had system access to the folders).

  • Neo4 bios splash screen freeze

I have a rather strange problem with my MSI neo4 based system. I have allways had the occasional lockup at boot, where the computer would just freeze and become unresponsive at  the bios splash screen. Now, this freezeup has become constant, and I can not boot the system at all. According to the diagnostic bracket, it is freezing at the point where it should be displaying the logo and bios info, one step before running the memory check. It just freezes at the splash screen.   Help?

    Pepe Jose,
Definitivamente tu PS ya no figura entre las posibles causas.
    a) Qué dispositivos USB tienes conectados a tu PC?
    b) Otra RAM igual (igual regla)
    c) Otra tarjeta de vídeo. (igual regla)

  • HP Splash screen freeze

I have an Pavillion A210E. Ram has been upgraded to 1 gb. Hard Drive to 320 gb. I just installed a clean copy of Win XP. I have also update the BIOS. It takes about 30 minutes to get past the HP blue Splash screen. I have also changed the boot prority to do HD only. I am lost can anyone help?

I had the same result after updating my bios. Does anyone have a copy of the original bios for this computer?

  • Muse CC freezes at the first splash screen

I have never seen what Muse interface looks like. Whenever I tried to launch it, it tried to update and update failed all the time. However, recently I switched off my zone alarm firewall and was able to install the updates. Now Muse cc splash screen shows up, prompts me to sign in but after I sign in, nothing happens. The splash screen freezes. Interestingly, in my creative cloud app, Muse is listed in the not-installed application section but shows 'up-to-date', and there's no cc appears after Muse. My installed application secton has no Muse icon either! I chated to the help desk and tried deleting MBLStore and OODB folder, uninstalling program and re-installing from latest_win exe file with no success. I am using Windows 7 pro 64 bit in my macbook pro retina's bootcamp drive. Can anyone suggest what else I should try?

    Hi Sachin,
I created another account with administrative right and Muse worked perfectly after apdating itself. Now, it is not possible for me to log in to that account everytime I use muse. If it is a confirmed permission issue, then can you please tell me how to set up right permission level so that Muse works regardless of any account?
Also the status of Muse displayed in my CC app doesn't feel right. It is showing up in the app list that I didn't install yet with an 'up to date' icon. Moreover, although everytime I launch Muse, Muse CC opens but for unknown reason, my CC app shows only Adobe Muse, not CC. May be there's something wrong with my CC app as well?

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended freezes on startup under Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit - No splash screen

I installed my licensed copy of Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended today as part of my install a bunch of software after a reinstall of Windows (due to viruses).  I did a completely fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.  I've used Photoshop CS3 Extended for quite a while now so I know what to expect on startup but it was previously installed under Windows XP Professional (32-bit). Figured I would give Windows 7 a chance this time around.
Google searches aren't turning up anything.  When I attempt to start the application, I get a window with the title "Adobe Photoshop CS3" (no "Extended" - I seem to recall the title changes later) and the toolbar appears.  However, no splash screen appears and no Product Activation wizard appears - the application simply freezes on an empty frame and a toolbar.  I've tried running Photoshop as Administrator (right-click, "Run As Administrator"), but nothing changed there.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling.  I tried upgrading to CS3 10.0.1.  Nothing works.  The application simply freezes before it gets anywhere.
I tried calling Adobe Support since this technically falls under installation issues but their phone support systems are down today.  Go figure.
Edit:  I hooked into Photoshop with the Visual Studio debugger and every single thread is executing some variation of WaitForSingleObject() or WaitForMultipleObjects().  The main thread is "executing" somewhere in AdobeLM_libFNP.dll (at address 09619d81 - if I had debugging symbols for CS3, I could provide a function).  There are nine threads "running" at the point the freeze occurs - but all of them are technically suspended due to the functions they are executing - and one thread is in a suspended state.

My Visual Studio analysis was far more informative.  All threads are hung inside of WaitForSingleObject() and WaitForMultipleObjects() calls and the DLL in question appears to be FlexNet-related.  I did forget to mention that I also even manually started the FlexNet service in case, for some strange reason, Photoshop was waiting for it to start.  That also did not work.
(And there is nothing in the Action Center control panel either despite the message saying there might be more information there.)
Edit:  The timestamp above might be a little odd-looking.  I didn't originally see anything in Event Viewer until I clicked the first button to send an Error Report.  Mostly I just skipped that part of killing a process.

  • NB200 freezes at Toshiba splash screen.

    Hi,
I have an NB200-11L that's been sitting around with an annoying problem for a while now.
When I power on the laptop it freezes at the 'Toshiba - leading innovation' BIOS splash screen and goes no further.
I get the same problem with or without AC power
I've tried replacing the HDD but still get the problem.
With no HDD in the system it tries to boot from the network & also allows me access to the BIOS (currently version 1.20)
Anyone else had issues like this & been able to resolve it ?
    Thanks in advance :)
    Chris

Few days ago I saw the same problem on my friends Satellite A205 (US model). After removing HDD I was able to enter BIOS settings.
Ive set BIOS to default settings, replaced the HDD with new one and now everything works perfectly.
HDD was defective and obviously HDD identification by BIOS has blocked the whole system.
I recommend you to obtain new HDD and do the same.

  • Tecra M5 freezes at splash screen on startup (post Safeguard Easy Install)

Since installing Safeguard Easy disk encryption, my M5 freezes at the initial Toshiba splash screen. Pressing Ctrl - Alt - Delete gets passed this and onto the Safeguard password screen.
It seems there is a BIOS patch for the Satellite Pro series but I'm not seeing anything for the Tecra, or indeed Tecra M5.
    Any advice appreciated.

This is because of Vista bios support for fastboot.
There is a new version of utimaco released that fixes this bug.

  • Lightroom CC freezes on splash screen

I've seen lots of posts about Lightroom CC crashing, but my problem seems to be different.
I installed Lightroom CC through the CC app.  When I launch the app, it asks me to update my catalog.  After the "Updating Catalog" dialog finishes, it launches Lightroom, my catalog appears in the background and then it freezes on the splash screen.  If I click anywhere, it goes black behind the splash screen and the program says it's Not Responding.  Here's what I've tried:
    - waited a really long time to see if it was actually doing something
    - restarted computer
    - uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom CC (on a different hard drive)
    - quit creative cloud app and relaunched
    - logged out (via preferences) and logged back into creative cloud
    - started a new catalog instead of updating a current catalog
    - reset/trash preferences
No matter what I do, it freezes on the splash screen.  Can anyone help?
    I'm using Windows 8.

Hi, first of all excuse me about my Englis.
I had the same type of problem you described! The program, after a logged out and logged back in in the creative cloud desktop app, just freezes.
I did this way and it now works properly:
    - I make sure I just have my older catalog plus the preview file in one folder
    - I lunch Lightroom and when the upgrade dialogue box appears I created a new catalog (choose desktop as destination so it is easy to find later) and click ok
    - At this point you should be inside Lightroom with an empty catalog
    - from the pull down menu under "Lightroom" (on Mac, on Windows I guess it should be under "File") choose: "open differe catalog" and on the next window look for your old catalog"
    - Lightroom should tell you that the catalog needs to be upgrade and after you confirm and after the catalog conversion process ends you should be inside Lightroom with your old catalog upgraded and working
    - next time you start Lightroom it should be working as expected.
    - delete the folder Lightroom created on the desktop for the new catalog you created before.
    bye!

  • Encore CS3 Freezing at Splash Screen

I apologize in advance if this question has already been asked and answered.  I searched the forums, but I did not see this exact problem addressed.  Here is my situation:
    (1) I have the latest version of Encore CS3 (v3.0.1.008) installed, and it was previously working on my system (Dell/Intel Core Duo, Windows XP).
    (2) Now when I try to start Encore CS3, it fails to load, freezing on the splash screen while attempting to load "DXCaptureSource.dll".  However the program does not crash - it just remains frozen.
    (3) I have Encore installed as a component of the CS3 Master Collection
    (4) I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Encore to no avail
    (5) I have already tried launching Encore with Version Cue running (both with and without the tray icon being displayed).  This has had no effect on the problem.
    (6) This seems like it could be a plug-in problem, but I have not added any plug-ins to Encore and do not use 3rd party plug-ins with any Adobe product.
    (7) I had Nero Ultra Edition 7 installed on my PC and have since removed it.  This may have been removed around the same time that Encore stopped working, but I do not know this for sure.
If anyone has an idea about what might be causing this issue or how to fix it, I would greatly appreciate the help.  I am hoping to have this issue resolved quickly, as I have to work on authoring a DVD this weekend.  Thanks in advance.

It's amazing, how often one small change or program install "here" makes something stop working over "there"
Now that everything is working again, you might want to think about making a full backup of your drive to an external USB drive
The program I use is mentioned at http://www.pacifier.com/~jtsmith/ADOBE.HTM#SmartOwn
This is not a Windoze restore point... this is a full drive image
I have had a drive fail, and the only thing I lost was a few unimportant daily files

  • Splash Screen + Jar + DND + Linux = XServer Freeze?

I've experienced a strange problem with one of my programs which I believe to be a java bug, I just need help reproducing it in a small example.
Basically, I have a fairly large project (20,000 loc), which involves a bit of drag and drop of a custom JTree, custom JList, and some other things. Recently, we introduced a splash screen to the project. With that, I started getting reports of the program freezing people's linux computers. I looked into it and was able to reproduce the problem. Here are my findings:
    1) Disabling the splash screen stops the freezing. This is an undesirable workaround, since the program takes a long time to load, but aside from disabling Drag and Drop, this has been the only workaround I've found so far.
    2) The freezing only occurs if the project is packed into a jar. Running from Eclipse or running the class files does not produce the problem.
    3) The freeze occurs briefly after the user completes a Drag and Drop. There are other methods to complete these actions which do not involve drag and drop, but these methods do not cause the freeze, thus the problem is with the DND.
    4) I was unable to reproduce this problem with Windows
Upon freezing, I am still able to move the mouse cursor, but it get stuck on a certain pointer (which, since this is briefly after the DND completion, could be anything. I've obtained states such as invisible, I-beam, and pointer). Music also continues to play. Open windows, however, stop responding to attempts to bring them to front, minimize them, interact with them, etc - they are essentially frozen. Ctrl+C does not kill the offending process, even if it was run from the terminal.
There are 2 ways to recover from the freeze: Hard Reboot, or ssh in and kill the java process that way.
This has led me to conclude that it is the XServer freezing.
Now the weird thing is, I'm unable to reproduce this with a small test program which involves all 4 of the mentioned components.
Anybody know anything about this problem? Anybody else experienced this or able to reproduce this?
My project is open source and I'd be more than happy to share a jar of it if it helps you any, or it can be accessed from an SVN. Like I said, though, it's 20,000 loc or so, so I doubt you'd want to look through it to find the problem. I've also created a small test program using the main freeze-worthy components (Splash screen, jar, DND), but it does not cause the freeze. I can provide that program if anybody's interested.
Please help, this is very irritating, and I'm starting to get some unhappy clients.

OK, so I managed to replicate it on relatively small code, here comes the code:

  • Boot to Platinum splash screen then freeze

I'm suspecting the MB has gone south, but would like some assurances that I am on the right track and that I haven't missed something obvious.
    The system is fairly generic:
Antec Sonata Case w/stock 380W PW
    MSI MB
    A64 3200+  Stock HS&fan
    512Mb * 2   OZC RAM
    CDRW, DVD-rom
WD 120 SATA HD,  WD 40GB ATA
    SCSI card
    ATI 9800 Pro
Systems been running fine since July, today, needed to reboot after installing a printer driver and it froze on the reboot.
Before I cleared the BIOS it would come up with the BIOS version, and the processor description and then halt.  After clearing the BIOS, it comes up with the Platinum splash screen and halts there.  All the fans are going including the PS.
There is no response from the kybd, as in numlock/scrlock/capslock  don't respond (no lights on the kybd.)
I've tried the following in steps and trying to boot between each change:
     - reset BIOS
     - swapped out my memory sticks
     - disconnected the optical drives
     - disconnected the HDs, one at a time
     - removed the SCSI card
Have I thought of everything that I could try?  Does it sound like the MB is dead or is there a chance it could be the CPU? or something else?
    Thanks in advance,
    Zen.

    Contribute with some thoughts :
The board post bios logo , aka ' cpu works , gfx works . If not all would be dead.
    But it freeze :
This can be memory or memory slots e.g vdimm ref voltage to dimm slots duff(not in spec)
It can be parity check that bios post does on the memory.
It can be halt caused by "halt on all but keyboard" i.e PS2 , mouse , fdc controller .
When this cmos reset was done , was the board totally isolated , i.e
all devices removed including memory , gfx , cpu , drives , pci cards .
(if it's a bitch leave the cpu as the only item mounted)
I recommend clearing the motherboards cmos while it is totally bearbone
and also with the 20pin/4pin power connertors removed .
After it is cleared just connect 20pin/4pin power + cpu + speaker to it and the powerswitch (no mem , no gfx , no drives , no kb , no mouse ).
Fire up , and listen to the beep code , compare it to award beeps that its correct.
Shut down and add the mem .
Fire up , and listen to beep code , compare it to award beeps that its correct.
Shut down and add the gfx .
Fire up , and listen to beep code , compare it to award beeps that its correct.
Shut down and add the keyboard .
Fire up , and listen to beep code , compare it to award beeps that its correct.
Continue adding one item after the other .
    Codes:
    Repeating High/Low (siren):
CPU Either the CPU is not seated properly or the CPU is damaged. May also be due to excess heat. Check the CPU fan or BIOS settings for proper fan speed.
    Repeating (endless loop) :
Memory error Check for improperly seated or missing memory.
    1long, 3short :
No video card or bad video RAM Reseat or replace the video card.
    1long, 2 short :
Video adapter found but error .
Either video adapter is bad or is not seated properly.
    ..  , no luck here my guess is mobo gone bad .(if you are sure PSU still is delivering all voltages +3.3 ,+5 ,+12 , 5vsb , -5v , -12v and the PS_ON + pwr_good circuit/logic works)

  • How doI correct a problem from safe boot? I am trying to gain a clean start minus Chrome which keeps freezing on the keychain splash screen

My pages automatically come up when rebooting (something I intent to fix); I am unable to go anywhere before Chrome comes up and the splash screen for the keychain (hate that) comes up and freezes the pages not allowing me to go anywhere to fix the problem. UGH!!! Help?

You hold down the shift key at startup
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1455
Once you are in safe mode you want to remove login items. Go to the Apple Menu, select system preferences, user and groups, login items( not login options) , unlock and click the - button on everything in there.
You can delete chrome from finder. Select applications and drag it to the trash or a right click then move to trash
You can do a clean install of the OS or simply repair it.
As far as the keychain you can reset the keychain in keychain access application, go to preferences, reset keychain.
