Split a large HTML File

I have a word document that I have converted to HTML. The
only problem is that it is a 20 page word document and hakes a
large HTML doc. Is there any way I can convert this to a HTML
document with page indexing at the bottom of each page and a back
and forward button. Is there any way I can do this without manually
breaking up the HTML and having to create the index on each
page?

How did you convert the file to html
a) within Word
b) copy and paste from word to Dw
If it is the first - it will be much larger file than
necessary, much
better to use the second method.
If you do have to break it up into several pages - I don't
know of a
way that Dw can automatically generate the indexing, but it
is easy to
do manually.

• A pdf file failed to convert to word, presumably because of size. how do i split a large pdf file into manageable secrtions?

I'm running Abode Reader XI version 11.0.7. Repeated attempts to convert a large (439 page) file, a dissertation, failed. How do I split a large pdf file like this into manageable sections for conversion?

Hi Mike,
Your 11MB file is well within the file-size limits for ExportPDF, but depending on the number of pages, complexity of the file (and yours doesn't sound complex), and your connection speed, it is possible that the service is simply timing out before it can finish processing. These steps can help:
If the file already contains editable text (that is, it isn't a scanned document), try disabling OCR as outlined in this this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (OCR) when converting PDF to Word or Excel.
Clear the browser cache and try again.
Try a different browser.
Let's start there. If you still can't export the file to Word, let me know and we'll take it from there.
Best,
Sara

• Problem with sending large HTML files as attachment using JavaMail 1.2

Hi dear fellows, i am currently working on posting Emails with attachments using JavaMail 1.2. i succeeded in sending many mimetypes of files as attachments except for .htm and .html files. when large HTML files (say, >100 kB) serve as attachements, the mail is posted on mail server, but not properly posted since only the first small part of the file is writted into mail server but the latter part of the attachment file is missing.
is that a bug of JavaMail??? are there any fellows encountering similar problem as i did??? any suggestions for me to proceed? hopefully i made myself clear...
Many thanks in advance,
Fatty

i've sort of found the cause for that, it is because when the stream write to the mail server, unfortunately there is a "." in a single line. so the server refuse to take any more inputs.
so do i have to remove all the "." in the file manually to avoid this disaster? any suggestions??

• Splitting a large video file into smaller segments/clips using FCE

Is there a way to split a large FCE / iMovie Captured event into smaller segments/clips.
Am attempting to convert my home videos ( Analog: 8mm) into iMovie clips.
Used a ADS Pyro that converts my composite signal ( RCA: Yellow+Red/White) to a digital signal via Firewire using the iMovie capture. However, this creates a single 2 hour file that takes approx 26Gb because there is now DV information.
I would like to (a) Break this into smaller segments/clips then (b) Change the date on these.

Thanks Michel,
I will try this out.
Do you know if this will create a new file(s) ?
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2460925&tstart=0
What I want to do is to break up my 2 hours video into smaller chunks then burn the good chunks as raw footage ( AVI/MOV) onto backup data DVDs. Then export all the chunks into compresssed files (MPEG-4?) and save these on another data DVD.
Avoid to compress. Save as quicktime movie.

Hi Kerstin,
the note also says: "This restriction is no longer valid".
With SP19 I do run tests continously that test content up to 2GB.

• Automatically splitting documents into Html files

Hi,
I would like to generate several HTML files from a single FM document. Splitting should be done at the 'Heading 1' paragraph level, or the like.
By reading the program's documentation, it seems FM9 can do this splitting automatically: in "Generating Ouput > Generating HTML > Preparing documents for conversion to HTML > Create links that simulate a TOC" you can read:
"Adjust your document’s mappings so that a heading starts a new file. Do this by using the Start New, Linked Web Page option in the HTML Setup dialog box."
Now, the File > Utilities > HTML Setup dialog box in the program does not appear to contain this option. I cannot find it anywhere else. I'm for sure looking for the wrong option, but would be grateful if someone can point me toward the right place where to look at.

this video from Adobe TV makes Frame9/Robohelp/HTML look pretty easy:
http://tv.adobe.com/watch/single-sourcing-and-multi-channel-publishing-in-technical-commun ication/single-sourcing-documentation-in-adobe-technical-communication-suite-25
I know the original post said the HTML files were from a single Framemaker document (not multiple chapters in a book) but I thought this video would be an interesting watch for the Original Poster anyways.

• Best Program to Split Up Large .mov Files?

Hi Applers,
Let's say I have a large .mov file (1920x1080, MPEG-2, 1h46m long). Now I want to divide it up into 15-20 minute chunks.
If I wanted to avoid using FCP or Compressor, what is the best program to do split it up with the least amount of trouble? Third-party ones are fine, but I prefer the free variety.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

• Trying to split one large audio file into tracks

Hi;
Awhile ago I mistakenly imported a CD into iTunes, as one large audio file, containing all 10 tracks. Now I'd like to know how to split this file back into it's separate tracks, and re-import into iTunes.
Any thoughts?
TIA.

MP3 editor is a lossless editor for MP3 files.
-> Fission, will do lossles editing of AIFF, WAV, MP3, AAc and Apple Lossless.
You can do it yourself but the songs will be re-encoded (not lossless) but may not be a big deal.
On the song, right click - get info. Click the Options tab and set the Start-Stop times for the first song.
Then select the song, menu Advanced - Create AAC version {or whatever is selected in iTunes prefs -General - Importing}.
This will create a new copy of the song between the time markers. Select the new song, righ click - get info and update the song title.
Then on the original song, set Start-Stop times for the second song and menu Advanced - Create AAC version the for the 2nd song.
Do this for all the songs in the original file.

• How do I split a large video file into seperate episodes/files?

Hello all,
I have a 52 minute long video that I need to split into 3 seperate files before I can edit it (so I can upload it to youtube as 3 separate episodes). I know how to split layers and do all the basic editing etcetera, but I am stumped on how to turn those split layers into separate files.
Any help on this issue is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I thought of a work around that I should have thought of days ago. It can even be done in windows movie maker it's that simple.
I will end up just splitting the original video clip and deleting the latter half of the video and saving the first clip and then reloading the original source file again and repeating the process with the following clip.
I can include a little bit of the previous episode in the following one that way as well. Tried rendering the full 52 minute video but it ended up stuck on 99% so just stopped and I will go about splitting it in the above mentioned way.
However, thanks for the comments both of you.

• Flex 3 Database & Large Html Files

Hi Guys,
New to flex, and I have a question, any help would be much appreaciated, I have a database sql server 2005 I use web orb to connect to it throu flex, I have books stored in this database each page of a book is a seperate record and has html tags throughout it, what I would like to do is display one page at a time to the user and then have them click a button to get to the next record or page, this I could manage in a datagrid I guess but the pages of text are quite large is there a component that would better suit a large page of text such as the text component if so could you give me an example of how to bind my data to it and how to stop the html tags showing up as text, or if I could customize the layout of the datagrid that might be a better solution.
I have posted an attempt to use a text component but have been unsuccessful thus far:

<mx:Panel xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute" width="100%" height="100%" title="The Lord Is Near">
<mx:Script>

import mx.collections.ArrayCollection;
import AlphaOmega.ActiveRecords;
import AlphaOmega.Alpha_Calendar;
import mx.controls.TextArea;
public function GetTodaysLin():ArrayCollection
return ActiveRecords.Alpha_Calendar.findBySql("SELECT Cal_ID, Cal_Text, Cal_Date, Cal_MP3 FROM Alpha_Calendar WHERE (Cal_Date = CONVERT(VARCHAR(30), GETDATE(), 102))");

</mx:Script>
<mx:Text htmlText="{GetTodaysLin}" width="100%" height="100%" id="Lin" />
</mx:Panel>
Thanks

You seem to be using Text with htmlText property. Does that not display the HTML as expected? Remember, Flex supports a sub-set of HTML tags:
Search for" Using tags in HTML text" in this page:
http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=textcontrols_04.html
You could just have Next and Back buttons that populate the Text control from the next of previous item in an ArrayCollection, where the items in the ArrayCollection are objects with each page of text.
If this post answered your question or helped, please mark it as such.

• JTextPane setText large HTML File, Notification Once Text is Set on Screen?

Hi,
I'm setting around 8,000 lines of HTML (mostly a table) in a JTextPane. Can't use a JTable. Anyway, I'd like to setup a ProgressMonitor to let the user know what's going on during the call to setText, at least an indeterminant progress monitor...something beyond the wait icon. To do that I need to know once the JTextPane has repainted itself with the new text (not in response to anything else). The document listener seems to come back with a 'changedUpdate' call about 5 seconds or so before the text shows up on the screen. And no, I'm not adding a 5 second wait to the lifespan of the ProgressMonitor. It's already kludgy enough.
To summarize, this call this.jTextPane1.setText(report); takes about 1 minute and I'd like to give the user a ProgressMonitor, even if it's indeterminant once text shows up. The call to setText returns almost immediately.

The document listener seems to come back with a 'changedUpdate' call about 5 seconds or so before the text shows up on the screen. Don't know if a PropertyChangeListener will be any better, but a "page" event will be fired when the file has been read. Don't know what the rendering delay will be.

• How do I split a Large CSV file into Multiple CSV's Using Powershell

I am a novice at powershell but this looks to be the best tool to do this task. have a csv file that looks like this:

I think this might be what you want:
Import-Csv applications.csv |
Group Application |
foreach {
$_.Group | Export-Csv "$($_.Name).csv" -NoTypeInformation
[string](0..33|%{[char][int](46+("686552495351636652556262185355647068516270555358646562655775 0645570").substring(($_*2),2))})-replace " "
Very nice! 4x faster..
I doubt the OP will get what you just did there..

• Problem using Category to split a large file

I want to split a large class file by putting methods used only internally into a separate source file. The original file is "Calculator.m"; the new file is "CalculatorP2.m" which has been added to the project. In the main file I have added the statement:
#import "CalculatorP2.m"
just ahead of "@implementation Calculator".
In "CalculatorP2.m I have placed the statements:
#import "Calculator.h"
@interface Calculator ( CalculatorP2 )
@end
@implementation Calculator ( CalculatorP2 )
ahead of the source code. The compiler is happy with this but the linker fails, saying:
/usr/bin/ld: multiple definitions of symbol .objccategory_name_CalculatorCalculatorP2
Any idea as to how to fix this? I am using XCode 2.4.1.

SecondViewControllerP2.h:
#import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
#import "SecondViewController.h"
@interface Secondviewcontroller(SecondviewcontrollerP2)
- (void)method1;
@end
SecondViewControllerP2.m:
#import "SecondViewControllerP2.h"
@implementation Secondviewcontroller(SecondviewcontrollerP2)
- (void)method1 {

@end
SecondViewController.m:
#import "SecondViewController.h"
#import "SecondViewControllerP2.h"

• Script to split one large RTF into several renamed smaller files

Hi
I have some RTF files in the format:
1st January 2010
Para 1
Para 2
Para 3
Para 4
8th January 2010
Para 1
Para 2
Para 3
etc...
Essentially this is one long list of session notes.
I would like to split this large RTF file into smaller RTF files, one for each date, naming the file by the date at the top of each session (in the format 2010-01-01, 2010-01-08, etc) and removing the date from the content of the files, so that I just have the paragraphs.
Ideally the script would also be able to recognise date in different formats, e.g. 1st January 2010, 1st Jan 2010, etc.
Would it be possible to do this with applescript?
Thanks
Nick

Ah I was using 2007 to do the test as I have notes with dates going back to 2007.
When I ran the script on the following text:

• Speeding download of large sized file

Hi,
I could really use some help. Im stumped. Im using Livecycle Designer ES and have a large form with a lot of graphics (~15 MB), Im planning on emailing it to customers, but its so large it is impractical. Ive tried getting rid of objects but am down to the core information so cant reduce the size that way. 2 questions:
1) Is there a way within Livecycle or through publishing in Acrobat that I can significantly further reduce the size of the file? Ive read the Adobe documentation and have already tried their suggestions (e.g. using one of the supported fonts instead of embedding a font, etc.)
2) If I cant significantly reduce the file size, is there a way that I can do something to make the user not wait as long for a download? I had 2 ideas but dont know if they are at all doable:
a. Package the pdf file with a download accelerator that will work just for that file to speed up the download, and doesnt need a separate installation. Does anyone know if there is such a product?
b. Split the large pdf file into sections. Have the user download the first section. While s/he is filling that out, in the background be downloading the next section, and so on. If this is programmable, could someone explain how to approach it.
Thanks very much for any help with this. This is a great forum.

Hallo David,
the only "improvement" or workaround I see in NW 04 is to use the Web Dynpro Binary Cache to store your large resource. In NW 04s there is a more elegant solution called "on demand streams" but it is not applicable in NW 04.
Try the following workaround:
- Do not store your large resource in a context value attribute of type binary (like it is described within the tutorial on FileUp/Download https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/d2201c20-0801-0010-49b3-94fca8f590d5)
- Do not use the FileDownload UI Element
- Instead use a LinkToURL UI Element and bind it to a context attribute with name 'ResourceURL' of type String. The large resource is not written to the context but it is written to the Web Dynpro Binary Cache as an object of type java.io.InputStream.
See ExcelExport Tutorial https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/uuid/1208c2cd-0401-0010-4ab6-f4736074acc6
and the JavaDoc on WDWebResource:
static IWDCachedWebResource getWebResource(InputStream input, WDWebResourceType resourceType)
Returns an IWDWebResource for a given web resource.
- Try IWDCachedWebResource.setAttachement(true)
- Store the URL of the cached web resource within the context attribute 'ResourceURL' to which the LinkToURL UI Element is bound to.
Please try out this approach and tell me whether it circumvents your OutOfMemory problem.
Regards, Bertram
