Split audio/video using Airplay and Apple TV?

I have a MBP and a Vizio TV hooked up with my ATV. They are in the same room in my living roon. The computers on my MBP are great and the speakers on my Vizio TV suck. When playing a movie in iTunes and clicking Airplay to send it to my ATV is it possible to send only the video while keeping the audio coming form my computer speaker setup? Thanks!

Hi Andy,
You can do this reasonably easily.
First up you need to think about how you are going to drive the TV- Your iMac could do it, but a laptop would be easier if you can access one.
Second you need to look at the screen inputs. If it is a flat screen TV it is likely to have at least a VGA connection which you should have a connector to 'out of the box' and it will work much like connecting your mac to a projector would.
If not you'll probably need a connector for your mac that outputs composite (a single RCA connector) or S-Video to connect. You'll need to do this connection and find out the resolution the display supports before the big day (I live in a country with PAL which typically is 720x576). Make the Keynote presso the same resolution and you should be all good. A test drive is essential!

Just as a thought- you could just burn a DVD with the images- it's pretty simple to set up (with transitions) a photo library in iDVD, though a little more tricky if you need the images to appear at certain times.

I'd like to play a video (youtube, TED, etc) to a large class, but as soon as I use airplay, the apple tv mirrors my iPad to the projector, and while the video is fine, the audio is horrible, as it is also mirrored to the epson projector, which has tiny, horrible speakers. Is there any way to run the audio through the iPad, where I can connect my computer speakers through the headphone jack? I believe if you go to settings> sounds... you can select where you want the sound to come from. So there you can set it to the "internal speakers" and then plug in your computer speakers.

Using AirPlay and Apple TV with no TV connection

This is likely a strange request, but I could use some help. I want to use an Apple TV to feed audio (using AirPlay) to a whole-house audio system. For this installation, I do not need nor do I want to connect it to a TV. However, when I tried this once, the Apple TV seemed to remain in standby mode unless it detected a live TV signal on it's HDMI port. Before I tried the experiment again, I wanted to check with this forum for any guidance. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Is there any way that I can use airplay and Apple TV non mirroring, similar to what you can do with a projector and use it as a second monitor/screen?

I am trying airplay one thing from my computer to my apple tv, but at the same time work on something else on my actual computer screen.
Such as airplay a movie to the apple tv but use my computer to work on something else.

I cant stream HD video using Airplay

I cant stream HD videos using airplay and a specific iphone app that used to work properly before (Globo.tv).
HD videos from Youtube app work fine. Any idea on what is going on?
All softwares are updated to the latest version, wifi is fine, router is an Airport Extreme fully updated.
My iPhone is a 5S and the Apple TV is the latest one.
Mirrowing the app using the iPad and playing the Globo.tv app works fine with airplay, but i cant see the video full screen.

Updating:
Well, I tried removing and reinstalling the app. Nothing happened.
But yesterday i realized something: the Globo.tv is an app that provides some unprotected videos and lots of protected. To wach it you must have an account with them. Well, I do. And used to wach all videos with no problems. Well, I realized that at some "point" I now can only Air Play "opened" videos. All others protected with login process, does not work.
How login works: I need to login at the app once. Then I can wach any video I want.
Any idea what is going on?
Another info: I can start waching the video and then click Air Play. It won´t work. If i do the same with an unprotected video, it works fine.

May start my own thread, but I'm having similar issues.
I've been using an old iMac (running 10.7.5) and Apple TV for years with no issues. Last week I bought a new Macbook Pro running Yosemite and have had audio issues multiple times. The weird thing is that sometimes it works flawlessly, other times (like now) I spend half an hour just trying to get a song to play.
My issues are: When I got to "computers" in Apple TV to stream my music, my music is sometimes chopper or intermittent, and I seen to know when it's going to happen based on the status wheel just before it plays. When I choose a song, the status wheel will spin for an unusually long time, usually an indicator that the audio is either not going to work, or stutter.
When it does finally pull up a song, the playhead sits at the beginning of the song for a good 3-5 seconds before actually playing. Then, when it starts playing, it's all downhill. It will play a few seconds, drop out, play a few more seconds, drop out, and then ultimately the playhead will keep moving across the song as if it's playing, but there's no audio.
Again, this is a new phenomenon never experienced by me. I've tried everything I could think of, some of them all at once:
• restart Apple TV
• restart Macbook Pro
• quite iTunes/open
• turn off Home Sharing on iTunes then reconnect it
• unplugging and cycling both my modem and router
None of these have alleviated the problem.
The odd thing is, like this morning, the audio started up perfectly and never gave me any issues. It wasn't until later in the day that it started. Perhaps after the macbook pro had been put to sleep? Not sure.
Regardless, this is an annoying trait, one that's new to me and my system (as stated, worked flawlessly until my new purchase), and is 100% limited to either a) the macbook pro b) Yosemite or c) both of them.

Ok, so I'll try again. Thank you for the idea of looking in Home Videos, which is where all my "lost" videos are listed.
Is there a way to get them to display under their appropriate genre in the Movie section, which is where they all were listed prior to the os6 update? It does me no good to have hundreds of movies categorized in iTunes via a genre only to have them appear in Home Videos on ATV. These are not "home movies." They are legit mp4 movies that worked great under v5.

The basic answer is that Apple has not programmed the capture routine with this capability. As such, you can always send QT feedback requesting this feature be added as a future enhancement.

Cant use apps and stream music using airplay to apple tv: ipad

Hello all, was trying to stream music from my ipad to my apple tv to my stereo using airplay, and while doing that i wanted to play a game,who would have thunk it right, But as soon as i launch a game it kills the audio for my music and im stuck with the normally bad music of the games i own. They didnt design it so my ipad is now crippled untill i am done streaming music, did they? Is there any way around it, or am i missing something?
Question is, can i stream music from my ipad to my apple tv using airplay AND play games on my ipad. I see i can use the web browser with no issues. But games and other Pps kill my music stream. Please help and thanks.

well actually they arent. after pluging away at the problem for a while, i solved the issue. all i needed to do was mute the music in the app, and airplay is never affected. the issue only happens when launching an app with music. as long as i can mute the music in the app, airplay works perfectly. it workks so well that i can still hear the sfx from the game or app in the back ground of my music. which is perfect, just like a game i would play normally, plus i get the added suround sound to my bite sized game.

1) I am not able to recognize any video/audio devices using jmf and java sound APIs on My system.

Do we need any administrives rights for our working PC.
What is the procedure/ setup I need to follow from a java application to enable particular audio/video device since I dont about end-user system setup right.
If possible send some sample code to recognize /r detect audio device ( voice input ). It should run on both MAC and UBUNTU.
2) I run the one sample audio recording application of this link (http://www.jsresources.org/examples/SimpleAudioRecorder.java.html) which is provided by YOU.
I got output audio file and able to hear voice on UBUNTU system but not able to hear voice on MAC system.
I heared that default line in ( audio setup of the sys) is wont take any voice data on MAC.Why I made this stmt means we are getting false when using isSupported methods of JAVA SOUND API.
