Split by markers in FCEHD version of Soundtrack?

In Sound Studio (which was bundled with Panther systems but not Tiger systems) it was possible to insert markers in a track and then 'Split By Markers.' The feature would split the track into separate files based on the location & name of the Markers and save the resulting files in a folder on your HD. This capability makes it very easy to break up a long track into smaller files that can then be imported into an iTunes playlist and burned to separate tracks on a CD.
Can Soundtrack do this? (In particular, the version of Soundtrack that is bundled in Final Cut Express HD?)

Thanks I came to that conclusion also... I did learn that if you select the scissors and hold down and drag a little... a line appears giving you a more accurate cutting point, then you release and it cuts. At first I was just moving the tool and only clicking when I thought I had the point. It was difficult using the scissors icon to know exactly where it was going to cut.

Loading FCEHD movie into Soundtrack

I'm missing something. I want to use ST for the first time and load the movie I'm worling on. Reading the ST user's guide, it says to drag the movie from the finder to the video window. Does that mean I have to save my FCP project as a movie first and use that, or is it referring to some other file?

You have to export you movie from FCE. Depending on the version there should be a function for Export for Soundtrack.

I have a scenario where I need to send a dashboard to multiple users. The user information are stored in the table like the following:

Now I have a dashboard call Car, on this dashboard I have prompts like Date, Car, Pay Type, Cost, pretty much the same name as the columns in the above table. I have also set up session variables to pick up users based on the log in.
Now for user2, he is getting 1 email, which is the dashboard with both Audi and Porsche on there. Instead, he wants to 2 attachments, 1 for Audi and 1 more Porsche. Is there a way to achieve this using 1 agent?
Please let me know how to split the result sets based on user records in the table

Why Do The Latest Versions Of Soundtrack and Soundtrack Pro Use .caf Files?

About 3 years ago Soundtrack and Soundtrack Pro started using .caf files instead of .aif ones.
The .caf files appear to take up more space than .aif and of course need rendering before they can be used in FCE/FCP.
So what is the logic behind their use?
I would add that I have skimmed through several articles which claim they have advantages ..... which I can't understand.
I only know that when used normally in FCE/FCP they seem to me a backward step, requiring rendering - almost like using .mp3 but without the space-saving features.

It touts "unrestricted file size" as one advantage of CAFs. Has any of us ever exceeded the supposed 4GB limit of AIF files?? This is from the page linked above:
"Whereas AIFF, AIFF-C, and WAV files are limited in size to 4 gigabytes, which might represent as little as 15 minutes of audio, CAF files use 64-bit file offsets, eliminating practical limits. A standard CAF file can hold audio data with a playback duration of hundreds of years."

Loop conversion automatically and timeline markers

in my old version of soundtrack, when i set the BPM for a project, whenever i listened to any of my loops/wavs in the browser they automatically pitch shifted and tempo shifted to play along with the project so i could hear how they fitted. when dragged into the timeline they automatically converted to loops; but it was possible to undo that if needed.
in the current STPro the exact same files don't play as loops, and play at native pitch and tempo. i have to drag into the timeline and convert to loop to hear if it fits the project. this makes auditioning suitable clips almost impossible.
is there a way of making the default setting the same as the previous soundtrack?

Well, adding markers in the Compressor preview window seems a no-no!
First it doesn't show markers at the beginning of a new clip. If you click the arrow to move to the next marker it goes to the next VISIBLE marker on the timeline. But if you then arrow the playhead back to where you know a new clip begins and then use the drop-down at the bottom of the window, it will give you the option to REMOVE the marker - even though there's no marker visible and the playhead missed it when you clicked the "next clip" arrow.
OK - I accept the case for mandatory markers at the beginning of each clip - but why aren't they visible - and why the option to remove them?
If they're removable, and the timeline is so cramped you can't SEE them, then you can easily remove one inadvertently - and we don't want to do that, do we?

Splitting 1 track to many

My wife makes her own audio books for our kids. For the past few years she's been putting them on audio cassette. Somehow it's now my job to digitize them..... YEE HA! Any way, I've been able to do this and have them saved as AIFF files on my ibook (we want to play them on CD players). Any way, in doing so have huge -- hour long -- tracks. Before burning them to CD I'd like to split this one track in to about 10 or 15. That way if the kids want to stop and go back they can forward through the tracks to get near to where they were the last time they were listening.
I'm not sure if itunes offers this capability. This post may belong in the Garageband forum. If not, is there a freeware utility that might do the job? Thanks for any assistance.

That's a free older version. Place markers in your audio file with command-M, then use "Split by markers" to divide the file into individual tracks.

How do I remove markers in a line-format series in a side-by-side bar graph

I have fairly simple report that is formatted as a side-by-side bar chart. I need one series to be formatted as a line, which I have done; however, the line always appears with markers at each data point. I want the markers gone. I've tried myriad combinations of settings and options, but nothing makes the evil marker go away.
The frustrating thing is that I have another Crystal report from a different project that behaves precisely this way, but duplicating the settings from that report in this new report does not turn off the markers..so, I know it must be possible, but darned if I've been able to figure out the magic words to make it happen. I even tried copying that report and changing the datasource to my own, but that removes the "good" report, and forces me to recreate the chart - and that puts me right back where I started, with markers on the series formatted as a line.
I figure there must be a way to format that series as a line and eliminate the markers.
CR version 11.5.7.608
Any ideas or suggestions welcome.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.
Unfortunately, there is no option for Line Type in the Series Options dialog available when I select the line that has the unwanted markers. I agree entirely there should be, but there isn't. The only options I have are "Riser Shape" (which gives me three options), and "Show Selected Series As", which gives me only "Riser, Line, Area, Default for Chart Type." There are no other options on that dialog, and no additional options appear when I select "Line."
That's very much part of the frustration here; it seems the problem should be as readily resolved as you indicate. It makes me wonder if there is a bug in the particular version of CR I have installed. Others in my group have experienced this same problem as well.

Soundtrack Pro with Final Cut Express

I've been using Final Cut Express HD for a little while with the version of Soundtrack that came with it. I'm now going to upgrade to Logic Studio and I'm wondering if Soundtrack Pro will work with FCE the same way. In all the documentation I've read thru, they only talk about Soundtrack Pro working with FCP. Anyone know?

There is no round tripping from FCE to Soundtrack Pro.

Soundtrack wont launch after upgrade to FCE 4

After upgrading to Final Cut Express 4, my soundtrack app from a previous version of FCE does not launch, I get a "Soundtrack quit unexpectedly" error. I tried to reinstall soundtrack from my original DVD but that changed nothing. I took it to the Apple store and they told me that since I upgrade to FCE 4, my old version of soundtrack will no longer work since that is not included with FCE anymore (only the studio version). However, I found an apple support page that says Soundtrack will be left unchanged (http://www.apple.com/support/releasenotes/en/FinalCut_Express_4.0rn/).
Anyone have any ideas? thanks

I found some other threads talking about it, saying that the problem is with the last ProKit update which came a few months ago. Others suggested installing the old prokit, which seemed to work for some but did not for me. And also, when I installed the old prokit, Aperture stopped working for me so that was no good. I went to the Apple store and they were no help either... So in other words, no I didnt figure it out. Please let me know if you do though

Splitting PCA

Dear Expert,
I am using ECC Version 6.00
I activated FI document splitting based on business area and profit center. I have already done the required customizations. In case I post a document with entering business area and profit center in one line item only and simulate document on entry view, I expect system to derive BA and PCA from such line item to other lines. But it only derive BA to all line item in entry view, and derive PCA to all line item in GL view. How can system derive PCA to all line items since entry view also, or this is the standard concept of splitting in New GL Accounting.

To get the profit center wise balance sheet we want the profit center to be copied from one line item to the another... for ex.. while booking an entry thru FBCJ i want the profit center from expense account to be copied to the cash entry which is automatically created by system.

Installing Soundtrack Pro (v 1.0) on MacBook Pro

Hello all,
I'd like to use Installing Soundtrack Pro (v 1.0) on my MacBook Pro with OS 10.6.8.
I've used the install disc to install it and got a "Successfully installed" message, and I've used Software Update to find and install updates. But Soundtrack Pro will not open.
By the way, I am the registered owner of this software. It was included with my Final Cut Studio upgrade.
Can anyone tell me, please, should this version of Soundtrack Pro run on this MacBook Pro with this OS? Does Quicktime Pro have to be present prior to opening? Or is this software just not going to run on an Intel Mac?

If you applied all recommended patches from redhat you probably use glibc 2.2-9.
However jre 1.1.8 doesn't work with this version of glibc. Downgrade to glibc 2.1.92-something (the original version supplied with RH7.0) and OUI will work.

How to test "Split brain"

Hi ,
I tried to demonstrate the automatic reboot at obnormal cluster
situations but i failed:
Setup:
IAS1, IAS2 and IAS3 running on their own Sun with Solaris 8
Load balancing: round robin
Number of sync backups: 1
restart at abnormal cluster on
I deployed The HaServlet and everything went fine, session data was
distrubuted
I brought down IAS3, which was in Sync alternate role, unplugged the
network cable of the machine on which IAS3 was running and started IAS3
again.
IAS3 came up as the a primary, because it could not detect the other
primary.
So far, according to what I understand, everything OK
After plugging the network cable back in no ias restarts occurred. The
round robin load balancing worked again and as a result of 2 primary
servers everytime i visisted ias3 my session data was lost.
Question: Did i miss someting in my "Split Brain" experiment??
Version SP3 on Solaris 8, only HaServlet deployed and working nicely
DSync distributed before the experiment.
After restarting ias3 it came up as alternate again, as expected and
everything worked as before.
Any hints are welcome, thanks

Just a quick question before we go any further, did you have the option to restart cluster in case of an abnormal cluster detected turned on? Sorry but I needed to ask.

Can't export to Soundtrack

Hi, thanks for any help with this.
I am running FCP 5.0.2 and Soundtrack 1.2.
I was just watching the Quick Tour video on the Apple site for some of the features of Soundtrack. On the video for "Noise Reduction" they showed how you can Control (right) Click your audio clip in FCP and select "Send To" > "Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project" where you can then make corrections to the audio and it's updated in FCP. When I highlight the audio clip in question and right click it and choose "Send To", my option for "Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project" is faded and I can't click it. My only options are the two below that, which were not used in the video.
Is my version of FCP not compatible with my version of Soundtrack? I also tried exporting the audio clip as an AIF and then importing that into Soundtrack but when I open Soundtrack and attempt to import the AIF file it is faded as well and I can't open it.
I have a lot of audio clips to clean up for a video project and I thought this would be easy. It's rarely as easy as in the demo videos but if anyone can think of something I can do please let me know.

Installing Soundtrack Pro audio content

Hi. I am about to install the version of Soundtrack Pro that comes w/ Final Cut Studio 2 and would like to install the audio content that comes on the three DVDs onto a secondary internal drive, the same drive where I store my video media files. Now, I also have audio content from Soundtrack v1.5 (that came w/ FCE 3.5) installed on my boot drive. Are all these files duplicated within the new audio content that comes w/ Soundtrack Pro that I am about to install? If not, will I be able to access both libraries of audio content once I have Soundtrack Pro installed, even though the two libraries will reside on different drives? And when I install the new audio content onto the secondary drive, where is the best location to keep the files? On what level of the drive and what should I name the folder? Thanks for your consideration.

Most of the content should be about the same. The big came change between versions two and three. And that change was in the use of Apple CAF files. That stands for compressed audio file, from what I understand.
If you search this forum you'll find that this topic came up several times. This extensive documentation on how to force soundtrack Pro to access sound effects libraries on external drives, or on different directories on your primary hard drive. easy way to deal with it right now is to simply move your existing libraries onto a directory on an external drive. Installed the new files. Then move them where you'd like them. Then tell soundtrack Pro would access everything. If it were me, I would just install the new files and not worry about the old ones. Duplicates will be overwritten and non-duplicates will be preserved. You can then move whatever files you want anywhere you want and then tell soundtrack Pro were to find them.

Is Soundtrack Pro 1.0.3 compatible with Snow Leopard?

I can't open my Soundtrack Pro 1.0.3 application in the latest update of Snow Leopard. I was able to in earlier versions. Is this a known issue? Thanks for any help...

Just talked with an Apple support person and he says that this early version of Soundtrack Pro (1.0.3) is not supposed to run on Intel Macs. But I used it successfully until a couple months ago on my Intel iMac. Updating to 10.6.3 must have been fatal. Thinking I might be able to still use the program, I installed 10.6.0 on an external drive and tried to boot the program... no luck. I guess I'm out of luck...
