Split By Regions

I would like to split an audio file on one track into regions based on the midi regions of an instrument track. Is this possible?
Thanks

No there is no such function. Just use the scissor tool and quickly cut up the Audio file according to the lengths of your Midi regions or use the KC "go to position" (I use #) and then "split by playhead position" (ctrl+Y)
or select a Midi region and use KC "set locators by region length" (I use alt+L) ->enable cycle ("c)-> and cut the Audio with function "cut region by Locators" (apple+Y).
If you have all your keycommands available this is just a matter of seconds.

  • Invoice Split (SH Region)

    Hi All,
I have a scenario in which a sales order has two line items. Both the line items have separate ship to party (SH). There is no ship to party (SH) at the header level. When i am creating an invoice, the system splits the invoice in two documents.
I checked the split analysis & it says:
difference in ship to party (ADRNR Number) & the field is "region".
My customer wants to create a single invoice regardless of the ship to party. I have checked the routine "003-Single Invoice" at the item category level but this doesn't solve the requirement.
Is there any other standard routine or a customization to fulfill this requirement?
    Thanks & regards,
    Allabaqsh

    Hi Allabaqsh,
Note 161545 is not helpful for your sys release.
A split can result when any changes in the data of the partner detail screen have been made (for example, changes in
the address). If the partners are identical or not, you can see in table VBPA. If it contains an entry in field ADRNR, then the partner detail data has been changed manually and it cannot be combined.
    Please see note 22609.
Please note that when you manually change partner address the system generates a new address number for each change. Even if the address is changed back to the original and made the same, the system will still maintain two addresses and hence will split the invoices.
Possible workaround would be to create your own copy routine at item level which clears the field ADRNR and add this the copy routine between the order and delivery.
Please also try to set the ship-to party on item level instead of on header in the billing, this could also avoid the invoice split.
    Thanks,
    Alex

  • Split by Song Position SPL?

In my ref manual, and in some tutorial videos I watched, you could use a command to split a region at the SPL, instead of having to use the scissors tool. That would seem to be an accuarate method of making a split... however it does not seem to exist anywhere in Express.
Can express do this? .... or is it only available in the LogicPro version? Are there any other options of splitting regions without using the scissors.

Thanks I came to that conclusion also... I did learn that if you select the scissors and hold down and drag a little... a line appears giving you a more accurate cutting point, then you release and it cuts. At first I was just moving the tool and only clicking when I thought I had the point. It was difficult using the scissors icon to know exactly where it was going to cut.
    Thanks...brad

  • VA42 Contract split during Billingu0096 Based on Partner different regioregion

    Hi All,
I am trying do a billing for a contract in VA42, which as 2 line item. When I do billing for this contract it creates 2 separate Invoice – Reason Ship-To-Party as different region. In VOFM I try to implement routine to stop splitting based on Ship-To-Party Region (REGIO) but unsuccessful with coding.
Have anyone come across such issue? What should be I checking or updating in my routine so that I should avoid split on Region condition. Any help much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Kind Regards,
    Tim

    Please refer OSS Note #11162
    It indicates the following cause.
    "Different header partners
The header partners in the billing documents created are not identical which causes an invoice split. With regard to partner processing, an invoice split also occurs if the entries in the partner table of the reference document and the billing document also differ only in one field for the partner functions of the billing document header (in the standard system, these are SP, BP and PY)."

  • Moving a too late phrase in a Logic Pro region there is no change

    Hi.
When I cut, paste  and move a too late phrase in a Logic Pro region to an earlier spot it does not change anything when played back!
May be it has to do with automation I have on it? It asks me move or don't move automation when I move it to the right spot, I tried both
no change. And I thought I new something about Logic Pro?! Thank you for your time and patience.
                                                                                                                                                            W.W.

No.. it isn't likely to be automation...
Is it the entire region you are trying to move or a part of it?
If it is the entire region, just move the region in the arrangement window.
If it is a part of the region, split the region (using the scissors tool) and move the part of the region you want to play back earlier or later, to the place in the arragement you want it to play.. If you want the part of the Automation for that part of the region to 'stick' with the moved region, select yes to the "Do you want to move automation' question.. if not, select no...
Bear in mind the snap value controls exactly where you can drag the region to... It will automatically snap the beginning of the region to the nearest Bar for example, if you have snap set to Bar.... If it is set to Smart, it tries to make the decision for you which may or may not be what you want.. If it isn't..  set the snap value to an appropriate setting from it's drop down menu... depending on where exactly you want the start of the region to 'snap' to... nearest bar, tick and so on..

  • How to edit a track from 60mins to 10mins?

I have a 60min track that I only listen to 10mins out of it.
How do I edit out that part and resave that as a separate file? Thanks.

If you don't want the other 50 minutes, just split the region at the 10 minute point, select the 50 minute region, and hit delete, and it'll be gone. If you ever want it back, just drag the 10 minute region from the middle left to the left and it'll come back. Read in the manual about working with audio regions. It should all be explained there.

  • Hiding selected staves in a "section" of a composition

I am pretty familiar with the Score Editor in Logic, but I would like to hide a staff in a certain section of a composition and can't figure out how to do it. Say I have a piece with piano and vocals on separate tracks and there is a piano interlude in the middle. If I don't want to view the blank vocal part above the piano, during the interlude, in the printed score, what do I do? I understand "Score Sets," but they don't seem to allow you to hide a staff/instrument/track for a determined amount of time. Thank you for any assistance.

Hi , you could split the region(s) in the arrange and mute the part(s) you don't wish to be visible.
    Have a nice day!

  • Is Garageband the One I Need?

I just upgraded from a Powerbook G4 running Cubase SE 1.0.7 to a MacBook Pro with Leopard. Now it loooks like Cubase won't run under Leopard. Obviously I don't need a full fledged DAW like Cubase 4, but I do need some features like automated faders, VST compatibility and inline .wav editor.
I have poked around a bit with Garageband, and found it very useful for most things - basic tracking, etc - but couldn't find much in the way of the other features, like wav editing and automation (ie. I control individual levels of tracks and VST parameters automatically).
I love Garageband for getting great results easily, but still wonder - is it right for me as a one-and-only DAW?
Should I look into something more involved (ie expensive)?

    features like automated faders,
open GB's help and seaarch for "curve"
    VST compatibility
there is none. GB uses AudioUnits plugins.
    and inline .wav editor.
    you "split" the regions:

  • Cutting a Big section from a finished project, I need to rant on this one!

    Hi all...
On listening to a completed song and from others advise. The song is too long!
Mainly the 2nd verse is the part that could have been cut and should have but I got caught up in the story tell
So now Im looking some help on cutting entire sections out of projects. Is this easy or horrible task. I know a horrible one which is proving impossible:(
So, Rather than the unwanted 4 bars on the 2nd verse being there, should I deleted every track in within that section
Then drag the latter end of the song back up to that point. So that my bridge section kicks in now the point where Ive deleted the old unwanted section of the verse.
I wont even tell you the format I was thinking of taken! But then I wondered???
If I highlighted all 32 tracks from the point of the Bridge section, drag them up to where I wanna cut out that verse will it work ok?? Do I also have to delete the old section (un wanted verse part) or will the dragging of the new section over them over ride them on play back??
I know Im not great at communicating this but its a tedious un need job if I have to do it arse ways. Surely if highlight and drag a section, to and over and un wanted section it should fitin tightly and sound ok????
    Thanks guys

    Hi, Houston still hasn't arrived!
Ok so first of all I get everything about splitting at region 40 and 50, deleting that data then dragging the tracks back to fill the now empty space. But
I just cannot find "Split Region by play-head" Anyway where! According to the manual it should be under Region/Demix and its a drop of menu in there. Here's an online link showing that.
    http://books.google.ie/books?id=TwUITg7oDdsC&pg=PA127&lpg=PA127&dq=howto+split+regions+in+logicexpress&source=bl&ots=cZlG-0AOjl&sig=0ob8zaamB2skLQOCVrUoAux0YNA&hl=en&ei=veVBTb fYNoWFhQfUlpy7AQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=10&ved=0CGgQ6AEwCQ#v=onepa ge&q&f=false
Woah that link is big! But it shows where it should be and for me its not there???!!
There is no SPLIT option when I go into Region at all. Ive even tried searching in preferences, key command and I get nothing. Split Chanel is the only thing I see really.
I have tracks highlighted, I just dont understand why I cant find the split region option. Also Ive tried searching all over the key board for the ß key.
I dont know where Im going wrong.
PS: If I do figure this out, will Audio inst that I have on loop within that section also cut??
    thanks again dude

  • Sample editor audition button goes silent when any track is solo'd

I've discovered that if a track in the arrange window (and others, I think) is in solo mode, it seems to override the audio audition function when I open the sample editor. This seems to be some poor heirarchical design to me because it forces me to go back to the arrange window (bye-bye sample editor!), find the solo'd track, unsolo it, move the window to hunt for the sample editor, or open another sample editor window from the track I was originally working on. A complete nuisance. Shouldn't the sample editor have priority?
Also, the solo tool is basically worthless right now because it never starts playing at the point I click on in a region. Completely inaccurate. You certainly can't zero in on any critical audio editing with this clumsy feature. Maybe it has to do with sluggish performance due to buffer setting issues??? It's a far cry from Digital Performer, where you simply highlighted a section of a region ("soundbite" in DP) and it instantly played back as soon as you let go of the mouse regardless of any solo assignments per tracks. Plus it was dead accurate. I spent the extra 700 mammies upgrading to Logic Pro mainly for the precious "marquee tool" which does s##t in terms of selecting and copying (it splits the region after you copy a selection, then you have to undo the split). Whoops, I'm ranting. Just can't believe the agony of audio editing in this beast of a program...

Excellent! I can't imagine how you discovered that...
The little "1" in the parameters indicates which audio channel the sample editor plays through - you can change it to anything, but this is not saved in a song (annoyingly enough), so whilst for most people it would be more convenient to set it to track 128 or something, we have to leave it at 1 and reserve that channel for the sample editor, or keep changing it all the time.
So it's mostly understanding of how Logic works that gets you these steps, and that comes form trial and error, experience, exploration, manual reading, and asking other people...
Could you describe the key command set-up you mention here?
Everyone of us here will have different requirements and workflows - I strongly recommend digging through the key commands window to see what useful things lay in store. Some things I use frequently others may have a different way of achieving, and some commands I never use are absolutely essential for others.
The beauty and the achilles heel of Logic is that it is so configurable - great for power users, but often it leaves new users confused as they simply don't know enough to set themselves up efficiently.
But key to efficient working with Logic are selection, navigation, zooming, screensets, linked windows (especially editor windows) and personalised key commands and autoload songs. So do explore those tools and see what they have to offer.
The tip I mentioned here doesn't help you particularly, but there are loads of key commands that will - I'd suggest starting a separate thread with just this issue and ask how others here would handle it - you might be suprised how many different answers you get - many ways to skin the same cat in Logic
But the audio editing in Logic still seems much more tedious than DP
It's also tricky to make these kind of judgements when you aren't too familiar with things - you may be right on the money, but you also may just not know key concepts and workflow tips that make things much easier.
There are plenty of new users who post along the lines of "Logic is cr.ap because..." and within a few posts it's abundantly clear that they just simply don't have a clue - I'm not implying that about you at all - I'm just simply saying that it takes time to build up workflows and explore the small little things that make or break an efficient workflow.
So I'm not saying you're wrong, but from your posts I would also guess that there's still a lot about Logic you're not on top of that could probably make you life a lot easier - so hang around here, and hopefully you should improve some workflow habits fairly quickly...
I hope that's been of some help. It's so much better when people control the rants, calm down, and start learning...!

  • Enhance timing....how to use it?

I have a kick drum track that could use a bit of enhancement as far as timing is concerned. i played around with the enhance timing feature, but it only seems to make it worse. any suggestions as to the proper way to use this feature? thanks in advance.
    jon

Is you kick drum a real recording? A real instrument, the pitch enhancement will move a note to the closest grid position to it, depending on how you had the grid set. I have a bass track, that was done with a triplets grid, and I can't seem to change it from triplets. So, moving the slider will align the notes according to the grid setting below the slider. If you click on it, you'll see some other grid choices. If it seems to be moving the notes a lot further than you want, you may need to set it for more grid positions, so it snaps to a position closer to where the note actually is. I have not been entirely happy with the results I have got, and on some instruments, like bass, I have actually gone into the editor, and split the regions, and physically moved the notes myself. Of course with some instruments, with sustained notes, that isn't always the best way, either. But it worked for the song I did it on.

  • How to do something in 10g that I did in 3.0.9?

I am proficient in 309, but skipped over Rel 2 and am now trying to work with 10g.
I had an easy set of steps for making pages for different departments on our 309-based intranet:
    - made new content area for department
    - made folders under new content area
    - made new content area page for new content area
    - altered the default nav bar of the CA to include folder links to provide navigation within the department.
... Result was a great, simple department page with same nav bar across folders. When clicking on folder links w/in this navbar, the only change was the new folder was displayed. Navbar, header, portlets all stayed the same otherwise.
How do I do this in 10g? TEmplates?

    hi,
this same task is still as simple in OracleAS Portal 10g as it was in 3.0.9. The architecture of Portal and Application Server changed completely so that also the terminology changed for objects in portal.
Content Area now maps to Page Groups and Folders now map to sub-pages in this page group.
You will find loads of information on how to work with Portal 10g on OTN: http://portalcenter.oracle.com.
Specially the Documentation page offers a lot of help when starting with 10g: e.g. the Getting Started Tour and the Users Guide.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/documentation.html
To give you an idea of your specific requirements:
Create a new page group (CA) as the container of your department pages. Now create sub-pages (Folders). Those sub-pages are split into regions. A region can contain items or portlets. A region can also display the sub-pages (folder structure) - edit the region to configure this. You can base your pages on templates to give a page a certain structure and style (corporate standards).
If you have a specific question let us know.
    regards,
    Christian

  • Connecting my home dvd player to my iMac

Is this at all possible? I don't use my television for anything but watching dvds. I would love to be able to get rid of it and just use my iMac for watching dvds. I have a code-free dvd player and a collection that is split between region 1 and region 2 with a few region 3 thrown in. I am almost out of flips between region on the computer.
What do I need to use my gorgeous 20" display to play my dvds from my regular household dvd player?
    Thanks so much!

We've all been burned by the region code flaw in the Apple bundled DVD drive.
A much more satisfying solution is to get an external DVD drive for the Mac (one of the models that comes region-free or can be updated to full functionality). This will smaller, provide a much better picture, and, quite possibly permit you to bunr CDs and DVDs at much faster speeds than the antiquated built-in drive.
You can find external drives and enclosures at any decent computer store. Before you buy, check online to make sure that the unit is region-free or has a region-free fix available.

  • Audio Interfaces? External Hardrive?

I'm about to purchase a Macbook Pro the day after tommorow and I've been wondering if I'll be able to use a firewire Audio Interface to record with.. I'm thinking about getting the MOTU Ultralite..
And do you think it would be best to record audio tracks to an external harddrive? If so, what brands/models do you guys recommend?

looping what you play is as simple as: play a measure in time. grab the top right edge of the recorded region and drag to the right. it loops.
the only work you might have to do is trimming the beginning and ending of the region so that it starts and ends on a measure. this can be done by either cutting off the excess areas ("splitting" the region), or dragging to shrink it.
when you get it, read the help files, there is a wealth of information contained therein.
