Split one long sequence to many small sequences

a long sequence can be divided into many small ?
Se picture:

It looks like you want to end up with four, smaller sequences.
Make four copies of your pictured 'master sequence',
then delete the unwanted sections in each of the four copies.

  • CS 4 Cut one long clip in to smaller clips

How would I cut one long clip in to many smaller clips and then put those clips back in to the bin for later
I have a few long clips but only want peices of them

Bill gave me advice on this about 6 months ago, as I had the same question with CS3...I imagine in this instance CS4 is the same.
    Here's what he said:
    1) leave extra room on the in out points when the big clip is in the source monitor and you are deciding on the subciip length...so if you have to adjust later you have "handles" to expand a little bit ...
    2) if you dont have to make subclips "dont" ...just drag from source monitor to timeline...using the in out points...as it makes no real difference to the original video file...its just code in the program...  however, in my case I wanted to the subclips due to learning about "scripted" stuff and 3 cameras...
Then I discovered (tutorial)  that by choosing in out points in the source monitor and dragging that straight to the project panel it automatically creates the subclip and all you have to do is "name" it...or leave default timecode name...saved a lot of time cause I was using the mouse to choose "create subclip" etc  before I learned about that shortcut

  • Turning one long clip into many

I'm new to I-Movie. I'm trying to edit several 20-minute mpeg4 files into one 10-minute movie. I need bits and pieces of each file. Must I import the same long files again and again into the clip pane, finding and marking the little bit that I want and deleting the rest over and over? Or is there a way to import the file once and to break it into many parcels (clips) from there?
    Thanks much.

    Hi, Karsten,
Thanks for your reply! As you suggested, I'm draggin & droppin with the control key pressed but there's no changing mouse cursor and while the whole clip is falling into the timeline it's disappearing from the clippane.
Plan B sounds intriguing, but I'm apparently not executing it correctly. Apple T is the shortcut for splitting the clip, right? Does this mean I can split one clip again and again into different sections? Can I then assemble these sections on the clip pane in the correct order with other split clips from my other files?
    Thanks for your patience...

  • SELECT query performance : One big table Vs many small tables

    Hello,
We are using BDB 11g with SQLITE support. I have a query about 'select' query performance when we have one huge table vs. multiple small tables.
Basically in our application, we need to run select query multiple times and today we have one huge table. Do you guys think breaking them into
multiple small tables will help ?
For test purposes we tried creating multiple tables but performance of 'select' query was more or less same. Would that be because all tables will map to only one database in backed with key/value pair and when we run lookup (select query) on small table or big table it wont make difference ?
    Thanks.

  • Dividing One large Image to many smaller images

    Dear Java developers,
I have 1 Large Image, and I want to divide it
into many smaller images, But I don't see
any Java API to make it...
    Anybody can help me ?
    Thanks in Advance,

I'd guess using BufferedImage and subimages thereof is faster than filtering it. Although it depends much on the implementation of the original image source, and its caching strategies. But it's pretty certain that when you are creating a BufferedImage which is appropriate for you current color model, you avoid most conversions which may be needed when rendering directly from an image source.
Having said that, the image source and filtering way may even use more memory and cpu than the buffered image way. At least temporary. But the image source is allowed to release almost all memory associated with the image, down to retaining only the original URL.
    In simpler words:
    - With BufferedImage you can be quite sure how much memory it will need. Add up the space needed for the Raster and auxiliary data and there you are. It won't change much over time. But it's not present in JDK 1.1.
    -- Simple, predictable and modern.
    - ImageSource is pretty much opaque in how much memory it will use. However, it's interface allows dropping most resources and re-creating them on demand. Of course, you'll know what it does when you're implementing it yourself. Which I tend to do from time to time.
-- Complex (flow control), opaque but present in JDK 1.1.
Your mileage may vary. There would be no challenge in programming if there were no tough decisions to be made ;-)

  • Practical suggestions for splitting up long sequences

    Hi
I have recently done a video shoot for a wedding and I have lots of material. A lot of it is just continuous recordings where I do multiple retakes on videoing the flowers or dress or location. I want to be able to split up an hour long video into usable chunks that I can give a sensible name. Is there an easy way in CS3 to mark multiple in/out points on a video that would be listed as separate videos in my content bin or something to that effect? The videos where captured as avi so the alternative would be to use a different program to cut up the videos and then re-import. Any suggestions as to how I can achieve this would be very much appreciated.
    Best Regards

Double-click on the clip in the Project Panel to open it in the Source View monitor. Set In and Out points and drag the image from the Source View monitor to the Project Panel. A dialog box will pop up and ask you for a clip name. Set new In and Out points. Drag to the Project Panel. Repeat as desired.
This workflow has the advantage of using a single source file, but with multiple clips in the bin.

  • How do I split a long video into many short ones automatically

I want to split a 3.5 minute video into 210 small clips automatically. I certainly don't want to do that manually. is there a way to do this?

    yunabesaid
The Scene Detect in the media area is gone by Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1. But, you can right click the video's thumbnail in Organize/Media, select Run AutoAnalyzer which claims to be "detecting scenes". The latter is worth a try to see what it will do with your 3.5 min clip and its scenes.
Regarding the quality of your videos in Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 editing and export, we would need lots more information on that
    a. properties of the source media (video and audio compression, frame size, frame rate, interlaced or progressive, file extension, pixel aspect ratio).
    b. what project preset you are setting for the project so that the project preset matches the properties of the source media
    c. types of edits
    d. choice of export and export settings, customized or default settings used
    e. computer or TV DVD or Blu-ray player.
Please review, supply the requested information, and then we will plan troubleshooting strategy. Also, we would need some idea of your computer environment - Windows or Mac 32 or 64 bit version...
    Lots ot put together.
Looking forward to your follow up.
    Thank you.

  • How to split a large PDF into many smaller PDFs

In my wanderings, I couldn't find an answer to this question. Thus my post.
I have a large, 20 page, pdf. I'd like to split that pdf into 10 two page pdfs. How can I do it?
The 20 pager is a pdf of a number of account statements. The account statements varying in length from 1 to 3 pages. I'd like to split the pdf so I end up with one pdf per account.
In advance, thank you for your help

    Hi.
It's simple: open the PDF, go to File, Print, and in the print dialog select Copies & Pages, enter the range you want, click PDF/Save as PDF.
    Good Luck.

  • Creating and organizing one large document from many small "forms"

I'm organizing a symposium and attendees submit abstracts.
I have set up a "form" using Word to distribute to people to fill out and named all the fields, example: "Title," "Firstauthor," "Body." Etc.
They are going to email me completed forms.
I was hoping that it'd be easy to make a drag/drop Script so that I can just drag and drop these files to create big document that would organize the abstracts & attendees into a program.
Word has the "catalog" creation option in the merge-manager. But it uses some sort of tab delimiting scheme for acquiring its data when it's going to be in the form of various fields and the field-names.
At my disposal, I also have File Maker Pro, but doesn't really seem to be able to do what I want to. I don't want to manually enter information (hundreds of attendees).
Could I make a script that would:
tell FileMaker to open a database and create a new entry
tell word to get from a field "FirstName" and copy to clipboard
tell filemaker to paste from clipboard to cell "firstname" of the new entry
....etc. with the other the fields .... and so on? to create the database in file maker. and then in Word, the merge-manager has a user-friendly interface to merge data from a FileMaker database and use the create a catolog feature. Is this too convoluted?
Any suggestions on the best route? any ideas? I don't think what I'm trying to do is all that unusual.
I've never written an applescript, but I have used them and I read about the language. I am generally a quick learner .... I just need to be pointed into the best plan of attack or know what the capabilities are.

    Hi Ettor,
Firstly, if the document is password protected, then I don't know if it could be done. Tatro's documents probably aren't. The first step is to unprotect the fill-in form document with ui scripting:
tell application "Microsoft Word" to activate
    tell application "System Events"
    tell process "Microsoft Word"
    tell menu bar 1
    tell menu "Tools"
    delay 1
    click menu item "Unprotect Document"
    end tell
    end tell
    end tell
    end tell
The document needs to be unprotected for macros to work. from there you can run a saved macro that sets the Save Preference, Save data only for forms. I named my recorded macro "ChangeFormPref". The macro could probably save the file also, but I wanted a simple macro. To run the macro, I found this on the Internet somewhere:
    do Visual Basic "Application.Run \"ChangeFormPref\""
At this point, when you save the document, it's saved as text with AppleScript. Here's the entire script with no error checking:
set dp to (path to desktop as string)
set fs to (dp & "new.txt")
tell application "Microsoft Word" to activate
    tell application "System Events"
    tell process "Microsoft Word"
    tell menu bar 1
    tell menu "Tools"
    delay 1
    click menu item "Unprotect Document"
    end tell
    end tell
    end tell
    end tell
    tell application "Microsoft Word"
    activate
    do Visual Basic "Application.Run \"ChangeFormPref\""
    delay 1
    save front document in fs
    end tell
The delays may not be necessary, except for the one that waits for Word to activate. Here, I just placed the new.txt file on the desktop for testing.
Next, AppleScript could easily concatenate the files creating data for a database. I would probably use the new.txt file as a temporary file, read that file, concatenate to a main file, clear the temp file, rewrite to it with Word, etc.. It might be faster though to create all the files first with some naming convention.
I wasn't sure if Tatro was coming back, but am glad someone may use it.
Note that Tatro is using Word X.
Edited: I should give a warning that if you unprotect document and protect it again you lose the data. reprotecting seems to clear the form.

  • How to split one long file into multiple tracks?

I have a single-file recording of a vinyl record (containing multiple sequential tracks) that I want to export to multiple separate tracks. Is it possible to take thisfile of audio, add markers to it and export that file from multitrack view into separate tracks? I know its possible to do it using markers and to export a CD list and the burning to CD, but can you export to multiple gapless WAV files instead, with the markers as track/split points?
I am not burning to CD, just wanting to keep the tracks as files.

Once you have added your markers and merged as for making a CD you can then use the Batch Process Marker Regions (next icon along from the Merge icon in Marker list) to save out the marked regions as individual files.

  • Why is premiere creating one really big clip instead of many smaller ones when I am trying to create multicam source sequences

Ok I am trying to create multicam clips from a shoot.   I have 198 clips from two to three cameras and an audio source.   I have created multicam clips in the past by simply putting them all into one bin, selecting all, right click, Create multicam source sequence, and then it processes them and creates multicam clips for me to use to edit.
I am doing that process now to only have PP make one really big clip instead of a bunch of little ones.   Help!

And the other thing I think of is that you opened up the multicamera sequence as a New Sequence From Clip, instead of Open in Timeline.
That would give you one long flat sequence, but 198 panels if you opened it in your multicamera monitor

  • Slow response Premiere when building (longer) sequence.

    Hello,
We're a company working on corporatie videos and television documentaries. Six months ago, we started working with Adobe Premiere, saying goodbye to FCP7, after experiencing many crashes, connection errors, etc.
Premiere seemed a stable program to us, being capable of working with mixed formats/codecs, from GoPro h264 to Prores4444, avc100, etc. But this was only done at that moment for short corporate videos.
Last week we've decided to have a day of testing for a new docu series we will start working on next month, shot mostly on AVC INTRA 100 and very quickly we've noticed that Premiere started getting sluggish when working on a longer sequence (1 - 1.5 hour).
When we started duplicating this sequence, Premiere would start to react worse and worse, playback taking 5-10 sec, same with skipping through the sequence. Beachballs, superslow response, etc. All this was happening with one sequence opened and the others closed.
We've tested this on two of our sets:
    1 Mac Pro Nehalem:
    Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.26 GHz
    Proccessors: 2
    Cores: 8
    Memory: 12 GB
Blackmagic Decklink HD Pro (Dual Link)
    ATI RADEON HD4870 512MB
    OS: 10.9
    2 Hackintosh:
    8-Core Intel Xeon
3.2 GHz

    Processors: 1
    Cores: 8
    Memory: 64 GB
    Blackmagic Decklink HD Extreme 3D+
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680
    OS: 10.9
Both have SSD drives with OS/Applications, Media is stored on a QNAP NAS (60TB) with 10GB ethernet connection.
I've noticed when I remove audio clips from a sequence, things speed up amazingly.
Anyone any idea what can be the reason of this weak performance?
I understand that our hardware config is not the newest one, but it seems such a big difference in performance between the projects we've been working on so far on Premiere and this new test project.
If we need to give more info about config, setup, please let me know.
    Thanks!

I stopped using Suitcase because of that delay. X1, I think, but maybe the one before it. Waiting 2-5 minutes for each file to open seemed a bit extreme so I switched to FontExplorer (which has the added benefit of being free) and I have never looked back. Auto Activate works about 80% of the time, and the other 20, I just do it manually.
I think Suitcase's pause has something to do with Suitcase making sure it's opening the right version of the font, which if I had to guess based on the pause, has something to do with inspecting each individual point in each individual glyph in every font that is installed on every machine within 5 miles of your location.

  • Many small purchases, or one big one?

Hello, I'm actually really new to the credit world and just got two cards, a Chase Freedom and a Discover IT for Students. I want to get started building my credit and increasing my credit limit. I realize it's a slow process, (and maybe getting two cards at once wasn't the best idea) but I want to make sure I don't needlessly slow down this process.
My main question is, are many small purchases in a month better than just one big one, or does it even matter? For Example…
    Chase Freedom CL: $1200
Discover IT CL: $1000I was hoping to use these cards to make payments on my tuition. If every month I only spend a $200 payment from my Discover card, is that better or worse than just buying 20 items at $10 apiece?Again though, the ultimate goal is to increase my CL and CS.

Great cards to start on. I wish I had gotten two in college. I just graduated and got my second. Like others have said, the amount of charges doesn't matter as long as you keep your overall and individual util at or under 30% which you would be doing at the charges you're describing. if need be, don't shy away from making multiple payments in a month to keep your util low while using the cards as much as you like (responsibly, and within your need/ability of course) while earning the rewards. Enjoy building. You're definitely off to a good start!

    Hi folks,

I have Tuxedo8 installed in Linux 7.1. It connects to an Oracle 8.1.7 database,

fact WebLogic Server 6.1 running in the same machine)
If I run this configuration, the servers in LDOM2 (for example, server1) are not
able to connect to the database (this group don't include a TMS because is
associated with the domain, and I cannot put an OPENINFO information in that
    group, for the same reason)
BUT!!!! the most amazing thing is that, if I make no changes in the bdmconfig
file, and in the UBBCONFIG I change the group WTC2 for a group that contains a
    TMS, in this way:
I think that you are confusing the purpose of the 2 config files, ubbconfig and
    dmconfig.
You should configure you application servers in the ubbconfig file. They
should be in server groups configured with the correct TMS servers, OPENINFO, etc.
One you have done this, you have a single domain.
To extend this to talk to external domains, now you need to configure the gateways.
Add a new server group to your ubbconfig and configure the domain gateway
processes (GWADM, DMADM, GWTDOMAIN) in it. This group does not need a TMS (TMS
services are provided by the domain gateway) or any OPENINFO.
Now, write a dmconfig file. This does not reference any servers it does
reference services that you want to import from other domains, or export to them.
I hope this explains how you can successfully get your configuration working...
