Split pane view in Preview

I would like to be able to split the window into two panes in Preview while looking at PDF's. This would be really handy for checking endnotes that are referenced in a document without scrolling back and forth between the body and the end. With SL, Apple added this feature to Terminal, which not that many people use, I think. Why not add it to Preview? Or is there a way to do it already that I don't know about?
Thanks in advance for your input.

there is no such feature in preview. if you want it send apple feedback requesting it

  • I can't type in the design portion of split pane view.

When I try to type in the design portion of split pane, the design pane becomes white and won't except any input.  Basically it is forcing me to do everything in the code portion of the pane.

It is dreamweaver CC for Mac OS X.  Yes, I have done that.  Here's a picture to illustrate what is happening:
    BEFORE:
I place my cursor after the last bullet point, "Status" in the design pane.  When I hit Enter on my keyboard to create another bullet point (at least this is how it worked in previous dreamweaver versions) this is what I see:

  • Split-Screen (Preview Pane) View in Mail

Within Mr. Jobs keynote video back in January, he demoed a split screen view in Mail while viewing your inbox. This view shows a preview pane beneath the message. Yet I found no where in the settings to achieve this.
    Am I missing something?

Nope, you are not missing anything. Its not there (yet).

  • Changing Views in Leopard Mail...2 Pane view as opposed to default?

Does anyone know how to get Apple Mail in Leopard to have the 2 pane view as opposed to the default 3? In Tiger I had it, but I can't remember. Before Leopard all my information was in vertical columns I much prefer that view...thanks!

Do you mean you want the preview pane gone? You can double click the little divider between the upper list and the lower preview to toggle between showing or hiding the preview area. Or you can drag it to resize it however you like.

  • Why do certain clips (photos), viewed in preview, on Adobe Premiere 11 look different on YouTube?

    Hi folks,
I've posted, via Adobe Premiere 11, two different music videos on YouTube and on my Facebook page. The first one, "Back In The Day", looks the same on YouTube (and Facebook) as it did when I viewed it (previewed it) on Premiere 11. But the second video, "Wicked World", that I posted on those internet sites, has certain clips (photos) that look different than what's seen on Premiere 11.
With "Wicked World", it almost looks like certain Panned & Zoomed photos are bigger in size than what the YouTube screen can show?
I used Pan & Zoom on some photos in both videos. But maybe with "Wicked World", I always set the "Hold" times to zero (0) when using Pan & Zoom on some photos. Or could it have something to do with the Track Size on the "Wicked World" Premiere 11 video? BTW, I see that by right clicking in an empty part of the track, the Track Size choices come up as small, medium or large.
Or is it something about upload choices on YouTube? Two different friends helped me with uploads to YouTube for each video, so maybe the first one, "Back In The Day", looks OK because that friend chose proper upload choices?
If you have time, or the inclination to see the difference for yourself, you can go on YouTube and type in on the search bar, "Wicked World Bob Fuchs". You'll see both a head shot of me playing harmonica for one YouTube choice, and a painting of Van Gogh as another way to get to the "Wicked World" problem video, and the "Back In The Day" good video.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Once I find out why "Wicked World" photos slide partly off the YouTube screen, I will delete it from YouTube and replace it with an issue free one.
I just want to learn what caused that, hopefully, so I can avoid that problem going forward.
    Thanks!

    A.T.please note:
After sending you a previous email reply to your latest response, I am forwarding a new thought.
I just tried out something you had suggested. I think it may solve the issue I have with the panned & zoomed photos on my "Wicked World" video - the ones that look weird when I view the video on YouTube (and Facebook).
So, in case you also think the following may be the answer, I will now copy and paste relevant parts of my previous email, PLUS include my new thoughts - in order not to waste your valuable time looking into an answer I may already have.
    Here goes:
The Premiere 11 Edit area monitor Magnification had already been set to "Fit".
In Edit Menu Preferences General, I already had a check mark on "Default Scale to Frame Size".
The properties of the first file (a Title screen) that I dragged into the Timeline are 1920 Horizontal, 1080 Vertical. But properties of subsequent photos, some of which I panned and zoomed, are mostly only around 648x599.
Upon viewing my "Wicked World" video carefully on YouTube, I see that what actually happens is that the box-like area where my video is shown (probably the same size of my Premiere 11 screen edit area?) is smaller than the YouTube's screen viewing area. That does not bother me. However, when the panned and zoomed photos occur, my smaller box area, within the YouTube screen, itself moves along with the panned & zoomed movement of the photos! That inner box moves slightly vertically, either up or down, and to lower right or left, depending on which direction the pan and zoom of each photo is going. And an empty border around the video area hangs there, within the YouTube viewing area.
So ... as you talked about, I tried something: I replaced an existing panned & zoomed photo (clip) in the Timeline with the same photo, and then I clicked on "Scale to Frame Size". The photo got bigger. I then did a new pan and zoom on it, and reduced the duration of how long that photo clip plays. Therefore, although the pan and zoom happens faster, it cues to the proper places in the music (audio) track. And I'm guessing that the larger "Scale to Frame Size" on that photo will now show properly in the YouTube viewing area, without the smaller inner box area moving too, along with the panned and zoomed photo?
I have only done this on one of my previously panned and zoomed photos in the video. But if you think this may solve the viewing issue on YouTube, that I described above, then I'll do the same with all the previously panned and zoomed photos in my video, and save it as a new version on Premiere 11.
I guess I'd then try and delete the existing "Wicked World" video from YouTube, and replace it with the new, hopefully issue-free version.
What do you think? Should I try this, and then replace the old one on YouTube?
    Best Regards,Bob [email protected]

  • Why was the split pane removed from Acrobat?

I recently upgraded from Acrobat 9 to Acrobat 11, and find that I'm not able to be as productive in 11. It's much harder to perform reviews because the Comment pane is difficult to work with. By default, the Comment pane is too narrow to be useful. If I undock it to try to put it underneath the document, I have to spend time fiddling with my windows to try to get the document the right size so that the undocked Comment pane can appear below it. The split pane was so much easier to work with; I hope that it will be added back in a future release. One other problem is that the scroll bar in the Comment pane is so narrow, it's difficult to click it.
Can anyone suggest any workarounds to help deal with these new features?

I tried the Touch Mode, which could probably help if I was viewing PDFs on a tablet, but unfortunately, it didn't do anything to increase the width of the Comment pane scroll bar, which is the UI element that I'm finding too narrow.
I would have thought that Adobe's main customers would be using review and comment features heavily, so it's disappointing to see these types of UI changes made.
As a workaround, I'm finding that I can at least split the page text, undock the Comment pane, and have it cover the bottom pane. That's a bit easier than trying to get it to fit under a resized main window. With most software that allows undocking, it usually lets you dock to a different spot, which would have worked fine here for those of us who would like to keep the comments at the bottom of the screen for better readability.

  • DW-CS3 / Split/Design View grayed out

In Dreamweaver CS3 (9.0.3453), when starting a new site, only
the CODE preview button is available - Split/Design views are
    grayed out.
Also, everything in the submenu under View > Visual Aids
    is also gray
Also, Refresh Design View is gray.
I'm a visual kinda guy, and haven't been able to find a fix
    via Google.
NOTE: Everything was ok when first loading, then blew out.
Haven't been able to fix, and reinstalling doesn't work (I use Revo
Uninstaller to totally remove, so as to get a clean install -
    nothing)
    Many thanx for any help.

I think it is probably the type of document you are creating,
    for example if
you go to open a javascript or xml or css document, it goes
    to code and
grays out the disign and split views. So you might be opening
    the wrong type
    of document.

  • Split Pane? Freeze Pane?

Is there a Numbers equivalent to Excel's Split Pane and Freeze Pane commands? ... so, for example, the header row is always visible and scrolling happens to the rows below the header.

    rowster,
Would you like to try the following? It's quicker to do than to write it all out, so don't be put off by my lengthy step-by-step instructions.
In Numbers, deselect Show or Hide Print View at the extreme bottom of the window, to hide the Print View page boundaries. Create your blank spreadsheet Table either from scratch or using a Template, and after clicking on the Table to expose the Row and Column Reference Numbers and Letters, drag to the right the 'Handle' at the right hand end of the row of Column Reference Letters which lie along the top of the Table; drag to the right as far as you need to go to add sufficient columns for your needs; the table will scroll to the left if you go off the right hand edge of the window. Do the same to increase the number of Rows by dragging downwards the Handle below the bottom of the column of Row Reference Numbers which are shown down the left hand edge of the Table.
Enter your data into the Table with any Formatting you require, and make sure you specify a Header and Footer Row and Column in the Table Inspector pane. To do this, select the Table by clicking on it, then click on the Inspector Icon on the Toolbar to open the Inspector pane, and select the Table Icon at the top of the pane. If you want to minimise the size of the Table, auto-adjust the width of the columns and the height of the rows to 'fit' these to the space required by each data. You can also consider reducing the View magnification if this doesn't reduce readability too much.
With the Table selected, select your paper sheet size and orienatation (Portrait or Landscape) in the Document Inspector and Sheet Inspector panes respectively and also set whether you want successive pages to lie horizontally or vertically adjacent to each other, then click on the Table Icon in the Inspector pane. At the very bottom of the Table Inspector pane, make sure that 'Repeat header cells on each page' is checked.
Now re-select Show or Hide Print View at the extreme bottom of the window; this will break up the window contents into individual pages corresponding to what you would get if you were to print them. Using the scroll bars at the side and bottom of the window, you can now scroll around the spreadsheet and as you move from one page to another, the Header and Footer Row and Column will always be visible on each page, allowing you to relate data in any cell to these.
To me, this is the next best thing to Excel's Freeze Panes feature, and in some situations, I think it's preferable.
The only feature omission is that whilst the row of Column Reference Letters is always visible on every page if the Table is 'selected' by clicking on it, the column of Row Reference Numbers is only visible on the left-most pages; I've used the 'Provide Numbers feedback' feature to request Apple to repeat the column of Row Reference numbers on every page alongside the left-hand Header column.
    Hope this helps,
    Ian Mathieson.
    U.K.

  • Split list view in finder

Anyone know if there is any plugin (or app) for Finder that split list view in 2 independent columns, so I could drag and drop files (and folders) between folders more easily?
Path Finder have this feature, but I wish to keep in finder (its free and follows the "less is more" idea).

It's what I've been doing... I just thought that an plugin like these wouldn't be so hard to find! But that's alright!
    Thank's everybody!

  • Design problem(split pane scrollpane Insets)

    hi,
    doing a exam simulator prgm
    design is like,
    Question (text area with scrollpane)
Answers (checkbox inside panel with scrollpane)
used split pane between qst and ans but big thick bar comes how to reduce size and it is not
    moving.
used GridLayout for container and panel.
PROBLEM is how to leave space qst textarea appears from very left edge of screen how to leave some space
same prblm for checkbox they to appear extreme left on screen.

Put those components in a JPanel overwriting the getInsets() method like this:
    JPanel cPane=new JPanel(){
        private final Insets _insets=new Insets(10,10,10,10);
        public Insets getInsets(){
            return _insets;
};...should do the trick, take a look at the Insets class if you need information on how defining it...

  • Printing a zoomed view in Preview.app

How do you print a zoomed in view from Preview. In Adobe there is a choice to print current view. I cant figure out how in Preview.app.

You can select an area, crop to it and print that. If you do not want save the crop, do not save the file after you print.

How can I return to the Classic address book 3 pane view  & get rid of the stupid fake leather and same for iCal?

I asked the same question at the Apple Genius Bar a week or so ago and they said there was no way to change it.  I am with you - do not like this new format at all and would love it if Apple would offer both -maybe when they do an "fix" next?  This was one change in Lion that should not have been made from Snow Leopard.  I am really sorry I upgraded at this point.

  • "view content preview in thumbnails" option is not available in view settings for "finder" for one user

"view content preview in thumbnails" option is not available in view settings for "finder" for one user

I hope this discussion can be revived. I have the same problem. There seem to be quite a few Japanese sites that don't bother specifying their encoding. Perhaps they are older and from a time when it was not necessary to adhere to standards. Examples: http://www1.plala.or.jp/CUE/cave_yozawa.html, http://chigaku.web.fc2.com/saitama/sanchi/youzawa/youzawa.html. Happy to upload screenshots, but how?
Is there a way to tell Safari what encoding to use if the web page fails to do that?
