Split url window in two, add separate search

On the old safari and current firefox there are two "windows" (fields?) at the top of the page, one showing the url and the other is a separate search window. Safari 6 only has one area for the url. How can i split it into two fields url and search?

I just did some more searching in this forum and found that there isnt any way to do this in safari. I will need to use firefox or chrome. I found the answer here

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.

I need to unhide the window or field that allows me to DIRECTLY enter a different URL. I do not want to use the search engine. I want to manually enter the URL of my choice and go DIRECTLY there.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
* If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
* If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
* If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

Search help window opening two times

Hi folks,
i found one of wda application is integrated into portal.on portal side if i press on search help symbol then it opened external window two times.How can i make that to one window

External windows are never used by search help becuase they open in a separate user session - making data communication back and forth very difficult. When modal windows are triggered, the parent window is frozen and no longer accepts input.
When you say external window, what are you seeing. Is it actually a separate browser window that can be dragged outside the confines of the parent window. If this is really an external window, then it doesn' seem like this is a search help.
Have you studied the WD Component. Can you see what kind of search help this is. What triggers it? A normal button or the search help button attached to an input field.

I downloaded Safari 5.1 onto Mac OS 10.6.8 some time ago. Yesterday the back/forward arrows next to the url window changed to a , which adds the current url as a bookmark. I want the arrows back. What happened, and how can I fix this? Thanks. kammro

Right or control click the + then click Remove Item.

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
If you're referring to having an extended display , you will need to have an external monitor and enable extended mode by pressing the Winkey+P and select Extend.
If you want to split the screen to work with 2 documents or 2 windows at a time, you can snap the windows by pressing Winkey+ Left or Right arrow - check this article in reference.

I have two add ons without uninstall button

Two add-ons can't be uninstalled. One extension got in when installed a Metaboli Player for games online, but it do not appear in any of the extensions folders in the "profile" folder (there are 12 add-on and only 10 folders all accounted for) name: Yummy CONDUIT Player; can be disabled but not uninstalled.
The other one is Browser Highlighter and can't find any reference anywhere; also this one can be disabled but not uninstalled. How to get rid of them?
PS in Vista search box if I put yummy appear only the "user.js" file in the "Profiles" folder that can't be opened

Some programs will install add-ons to the system rather than in your Firefox profile.
Since they aren't part of your profile, they need to be uninstalled using Control Panel -> Programs and Features.
Disabling them removes all their functionality.
As an aside, please consider upgrading Firefox to the latest version. Firefox 3.0.x is no longer supported. The old version you are using (3.0.15) is vulnerable to many security problems.

Keep options: Select the paragraph, then CtrlAltK (Mac: CmdOptK, I
think).
If you want the paragraphs in pairs, create two paragraph styles. Style
A has keep options set to start on a new page, and also, its Next Style
is style B.
Style B has no keep options, but it's Next Style is Style A.
Select all the text.
From the flyout menu of the paragraph styles palette, apply Style A
"then next style."
Now all paragraphs will be alternating -- style A, style B, style A, etc.
Now do what I wrote initially, and you'll have pairs of paragraph in
separate text frames.

How to add Custom Search Engines to Search Bar

In the past I managed to add a 'Custom Search Engine' to Firefox's 'Search Bar' (Windows Version) by just right-clicking that site's own 'search bar' and choosing 'Add to search bar'. I had no third party plugin installed to do this. It was provided by Firefox itself.
Or am I mixing up this feature with Google's 'Add Custom Search Button' ?
Anyhow, is there a way to add a 'Custom Search Engine' to Firefox's 'Search Bar' from any website, WITHOUT having to:
* install an add-on (like: Add to Search Bar 2.0)
* acquire search engines on 'mycroft.mozdev.org'
* acquire search engines from 'Manage/Add Search Engines' from the drop-down menu in the search bar ?

[Solved] Split Tmux window prevents middle-click from functioning

I have an annoying problem with Tmux. If I open a TTY and run Tmux in just the one window my middle-click/paste action works properly. However, if I split a window my middle-click merely changes which window should be the active one. I realise I could disable mouse support and get the correct middle-click behaviour I desire. However, I'd like to keep my middle-click/paste function with my mouse. Does anyone have a solution or pointer to a possible way to keep both functions intact?

Hi karol, yes I meant to say a terminal window in X, i.e., xfce4-terminal and roxterm. Pasting text only fails if I have tmuxvsplit its active (currently focused) window either horizontally or vertically. The pasting function fails even if I create a new window and then split that one within the tmux environment too.

How to split a text in two parts?

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to make a text appearance, with a smilar effect as the one in this video (1 mn 43) :

My problem is, I'd like to split my text in two parts, at the middle of a letter, so I can separate the text in two parts then gather it up at the end of the animation.
I've tried to take a look at the text's animation tool, where you can make it spin, or rotate and this kind of stuff, but I can't find out how to make a letter really split at its middle.

How do I add a search web part to search ONLY a subsite?

I'm trying to add a search web part into a subsite that will search ONLY that specific subsite for documents. Not the entire site collection or anything else. Everything I've looked at doesn't address this specifically. I want a user
to be able to type in a word like "SharePoint" and all it displays is the results for any document in that subsite that has "SharePoint" in the title of the document. I'm assuming that it's not very convoluted to do.

You can use site "search settings" and "search scope" to achieve this , you can use any of these method -
Configure Site settings -> Search settings to default to the contexual scope. This will pass current site url to search results page to filter current site result only.
Use refinement web part on the search results page to filter results from a specific sub-site.

Is there a way to stop Firefox from suggesting to add new search engines to my search bar whenever I visit websites that suggest to us to add their search engines?
I searched a lot and couldn't find any help. How to stop websites from suggesting to my Firefox search bar to add their search engines? I don't want to add other search engines other than the ones I organized. I don't want my list to look more distracting and longer.

Firefox doesn't do that. That's either a feature of the website you are visiting or possible Malware on that PC.

There is a scenario that thousands of values in the drop-down of a parameter. Scrolling through the large drop down list is slow and cumbersome. Is there a way that we add a search feature in the report, so that it can filter down the values in the drop
down list to a smaller list of values?
Solution
To achieve this requirement, we can add a parameter with multiple keywords ahead, then all of available values which are begin with the keyword will display in the parameter list. In this scenario, we can create cascading parameters. One is a keyword parameter,
and the other parameter is based on the keyword to display the available values.
In order to enable the user to type multiple keywords, we can use the query below to create a split function which takes the list and the de-limiter as input parameters and splits all the values in the database:

Hmmm. This didn't work. I even re-booted, and Firefox still doesn't show the search engine.
It was actually an update to an earlier engine, and I foolishly removed the old version rather than just updating it.
Is there anything elsewhere (eg. the registry) that might be preventing this?
