Split view inside code?

I need help with the Dreamweaver code view... I'm sure it's
possible ( if not with an addon), to split the code view window
into two windows one on top of each other as most code environments
allow. Why? I'm a developer and need to reference multiple
locations on a single file... say I have code near the top of the
file that I need to reference for later use... this is what I
need... Any help would be great.

  • Split View - Highlight code Problem

    Hi All,
    just installed new DW-CS3 and i am a bit puzzled.
    In previous version (DW8) when you work in two window mode
    and you click on the design part object or even a tag, it auto
    selects that part in code view.
    CS3 does not seem to be doing that and its really annoying!
    Does anyone have the same problem?

    What is your OS? I used CS3 on Mac/WinXP/Vista, and didn't
    have that
    problem.

  • Cs4 dreamweaver suddenly crashes when selecting code/split view

    i have looked around and found this issue in older posts from 2008 but have not found a resolution. i've had dw cs4 for mac for a several months and all of a sudden it started crashing when i select code/split view.

    started up in safe mode and new user mode
    no other issues with any other adobe apps or crashing in general
    have plenty of memory
    got rid of extensions
    i feel like it is a corrupted file that is doing it unfortunately i dont have my original disk on hand to reinstall right now (purchased cd instead of download). UGH!

    Have you done a complete uninstall, clean up, and then reinstall? - Sounds like that's the only thing you haven't tried, so I'd try that next.  Yeah, I know... a real pain. The sort of thing we on the PC side have to deal with far more often unfortunetly  ;-/

    Anyone knows how to customize this setting wit DW CS5??

    DW Code View uses the Selection colors defined for your Operating System.
    If you don't know how to change that, which OS and version are you using?

  • Split view pausing when updating code

    HI, I love split view, can live without it, but in the latest version 5 and up, it seems when i change the code in code view side, the wysiwyg side pauses for a few seconds to update what i've changed, almost flashes asif reloading, maybe it is, but it seemed to do this more seemlessly, I could go back and forth and updates were instant. I am not in live view, that takes even longer when changes to the code view are done.
    Just curious is there are ways to speed this up, or anything anyone has run into that causes the split view window to pause when changes are made.
    It only happens, in split view, and i update something in code view, even just text <p> and when i click back to the wyysiwyg side, it pauses for a few seconds before reflecting the change.

    Yes, same scenario, when I click back to design view, it usually updates quickly, but now it takes 3-5 seconds before it refreshes. It's noticeable, and hard to work with when I am updating alot of content peices,
    I've tried other sites thinking maybe it has something to do with related files or something, but same thing, Its noticeable, but I can't seem to figure out when it started or why. Been using split view since it was available, always quite fast... I don;t have any data connections, or testing servers setup that could cause lag. I hope its a simple toggle of something I inadvertently toggled?

  • Dreamweaver 8.0.2 -- code view is totally screwed, so is design view. Split view works fine.

    I just started having an extremely annoying issue in DW8-XP.
    The code view is completely messed up. I can switch to code view,
    but nothing is there. Just a ghost of the split view I was just in.
    If I open a new file (like css file) in code view, I see a ghost of
    the last view. Since css files don't have a split or design view,
    I'm screwed. Cannot firgure out how to delete the config file. Do
    you think this would help? Would it erase any settings I have
    currently set?
    I tried switching to a default layout, restarting and all. No
    luck. Little help? :D

  • Can you set DW to always show split view?

    This is not a major problem but an annoying thing and I can't seem to find.  I almost always work in split view - never design view.  Yet DW seems to default to design view. Even if I have previously edited a page in split or even code view, the next time I open that file (if I have closed and opened DW in the meantime) it opens in design view.
    I tried making a custom workspace that included viewing files in split view but sure enough whenever I re-open DW any files I open are once again displayed in Design View.
    Anyone know how to change this?
    Thanks!
    Ellie

    >>I tried making a custom workspace that included viewing files in split view but sure enough whenever I re-open DW any files I open are once again displayed in Design View.
    Yes, the same problem started in CS4-Mac for me.
    Just for kicks, I opened my custom workspace a moment ago. I then opened a document to split view, then resaved that setup as a new custom workspace.
    Upon reopening Dreamweaver the next time, it remembered my split view setting. However, the time after that, I was back in Design view.
    This seems to be pretty buggy.
    Hopefully someone will post a solution.

  • My small split-view file manager

    Hello.
    I've created a small file manager with split-view. While some functionality is still missing, the manager is usable and I'm using it as my primery tool for file browsing.
    You can get the browser from here http://github.com/napsy/gsfm
    space - select/unselect
    F5 - copy selection
    F4 - rename selection
    F3 - new directory
    delete - delete selection
    tab - change view
    There is support for custom view with a config file. You put the config file inside your ~/.config directory. A sample config is provided with the source.
    Sere is a screenshot: http://napotnik.info/images/gsfm.png

    It's good that it's C and BSD-licensed, but I don't really see a point in GTK. I mean, there are a lot of GTK file browsers out there already, but there is no (to my mind) proper ncurses file browser written in pure C. It's just MC and vifm, all the others aren't C. So if it would be ncurses I would definetly be interested. That's just my opinion. Anyways, thanks!

  • Remote images not showing up in design/split view

    Just recently, whenever i updated the image location from the
    local site to the remote site path, the images don't get loaded
    into dreamweaver how it used to.
    i'm not sure if i unchecked something. the paths are correct
    and they show up when i preview in browser so i know it's not that.
    if anyone can help with this it will be great. thanks.

    Do you have spaces in your image file/pathnames?

  • Custom Split views don't work like the use to pre- Project 2010

    Hi
    Either we've lost some functionality along the way, or there must be another way of doing the following...
    Up until and including version 2007, I was able to create multiple custom split views in a file (or global.mpt) where the I could specify a different Task Form (e.g., "Predecessors & Successors" or the "Work") depending on which custom
    split view I selected.
    In 2010 and 2013, you have to manually select the Task From you want; the custom split view won't can help you get the specific Task Form you want ((e.g., "Predecessors & Successors", "Work").  At least that has been my experience...
    does anyone have a solution apart from needing to write a VBA event handler?
    Thanks in advance,
    \Spiro Theopoulos PMP, MCITP. Montreal, QC (Canada)

    I agree with Dale. Project remembers the last set of details applied in form views such as Task Form. Using VBA event handlers you can change this behavior.
    1. Open the project file on which this change should be applied.
    2. In the View ribbon, click Macro command and select Visual Basic
    3. If you want the details displayed in the Task Form to be applied to the current file, double click "ThisProject" node under the VBAProject(your file name) or else double click "ThisProject" node under ProjectGlobal (Global.MPT)
    4. Paste below lines in the Project_Open event handler. Save the code.
    Private Sub Project_Open(ByVal pj As Project)
        ViewApplyEx ApplyTo:=1, BuiltInView:=pjViewTaskForm
        WindowActivate TopPane:=False
        ViewShowPredecessorsSuccessors
    End Sub
    5. You can replace the last statement ViewShowPredecessorsSuccessors with another statement that is compatible with Task Form view

  • In Dreamweaver 2014.1 how do I get the vertical settings for split view?

    In split view, I want the code window to appear left of the design window as I had it set up in the previous version. I cannot find a place in preferences to do that. Help. I like the code window to the left and properties below the design window.

    No I cannot. I've tried to drag the coding window and it seems to be immoveable. I read the reference. It does not answer my question nor do any of the linked articles connected to it. I can float the property window and the other windows just fine and move them where I need them, however the code window in split view goes nowhere. When I have multiple file windows open in tabs and drag one of them the code view stuck at the bottom moves with it.

  • ? | View inside view with the IB.

    Hi,
    How can i build views inside view, using the IB ?
    Or with code if it's not possible ?
    Thanks.

    yes.
    Look at the top of the window for "view mode"; there are 3 buttons: the first is icon view (the default), the second is hierarchical/list view (the one you want), the third is the multi-column view. Just press the second button and you'll be able to place new objects "inside" other objects.

  • No Design/Split View?

    Ok... sorry to sound like a rookie here, but one of the few
    times I really want to use Design View I cant seem to get it to
    work. Let me explain...
    I am a long-time hand coder, and still hand-code most of my
    pages. I have a page that I have hand-coded that contains an image
    that I would like to create an image map (link) for. However, I
    cant seem to get the Design and/or Split views to work. The buttons
    on the nav bar are greyed out and the selections are unavailable
    from the drop-down app menus. Here is some further info:
    1. Here is the URL to the page I am working on:
    http://stage.novussententia.com/walkofhope.
    2. I am developing this on a remote server... but the server
    is local to my network.
    3. I am using server side includes
    4. Here is the actual code from the page since I am using

  • DW9 (CS3) split view not work with ASP files?

    I just installed and ran DW CS3 (ver 9.0 bulid 3481) -- I use
    "coder" view for the screen layout. I like the split-view style
    since I code inline HTML with my ASP and ASPX code. However, the
    new version has the split-screen view button grayed out. How do I
    enable split view when I edit files that are not just ending in
    "htm" or "html" extensions? If the Adobe programmers made an
    ASSumption then they need to issue a patch and remove it pronto. I
    do not want someone else making decisions on how I do my work...I
    get enough of that from Microsoft already, I do not need it from my
    tools also. Please forward this to the developers if there is no
    way to change my preferences, otherwise please tell me how to edit
    a config file or hex-edit the executable to get this funtionality
    back. TIA!

    I still can't figure out why the split view or design view is
    grayed out and not accessible when editing files with an .asp or
    .aspx extension and it is driving me crazy! I called the support
    line and got someone in India who didn't understand my problem. 30
    minutes later I finally got her to agree to transfer me to
    secondary support but they were busy and she promised me they would
    call the next day. That was over a week ago. I didn't even get a
    voicemail, even though I stayed by my phone the whole day. I see
    that support for DW under Adobe is no better than it was under
    Macromedia...how sad. Microsoft Expression Web is looking better
    and better every day....... :(

  • Constrain Split View

    Hi,
    I have created a simple application that uses a "NSSplitView". Everything works perfectly, but I would like to be able to make sure that none of the two sides of the split view can have a width of less than 50 px.
    I tried this code:
    THE "MAVController.h" FILE:
    ========================
    #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h>
    @interface MAVController : NSObject {
    IBOutlet NSSplitView *splitView;
    - (void)awakeFromNib;
    @end
    THE "MAVController.m" FILE:
    ========================
    #import "MAVController.h"
    @implementation MAVController
    - (void)awakeFromNib
    CGFloat minCoord = 50.0;
    [splitView constrainMinCoordinate:minCoord ofSubviewAt:0];
    @end
    I get the following error:
    warning: 'NSSplitView' may not respond to '-constrainMinCoordinate:ofSubviewAt:'
    (Messages without a matching method signature will be assumed to return 'id' and accept '...' as arguments.)
    How can I constrain the size of the two part of my split view?
    Thank you very much,
    franky26

    The splitView:constrainMinCoordinate:ofSubviewAt: method is called by a NSSplitView on its delegate.
    The simplest way is to declare MAVController as the delegate of the SplitView. For example in the awakeFromNib method splitView.delegate = self;Or in Interface Builder.
    Now MAVController is the NSSplitView delegate, you have to define the proper method in it. For example, if you want that each of the 2 parts of the NSSplitView have a min size of 50.0- (CGFloat)splitView:(NSSplitView *)sender constrainMinCoordinate:(CGFloat)proposedMin ofSubviewAt:(NSInteger)offset{
    CGFloat minCoord = 50.0;
    return (minCoord<proposedMin)?proposedMin:minCoord;
