Splitter to allow power and audio out simultaneously?
Hi,
I have a 2nd Gen iPod Shuffle which I'd like to use for "music on hold" on a phone system. The phone system takes audio-in. We've run it off a CD player for years (which had repeat play) but the CD player finally kicked the bucket. I don't use the shuffle, so I thought it would be a good solution.
When going to plug it in today, I realized the problem - we need the headphone jack for two things simultaneously. Audio out is easy, but we also need to power the shuffle continuously.
Is there a splitter that allows for such use, or any other way to get both power in and audio out simultaneously?
Thanks!
You might try to find one of these:

Does an audio splitter allow for power and audio out on the shuffle? (yet?)
(I saw there was a post about this from 2009, but checking again since it's 6 years later)
I want to use a shuffle to play music through an art piece in an exhibit for several months but realized I would need power AND audio. Would an audio splitter do the trick? I see the shuffle USB cable has three white bands and a splitter like the Belkin only has two:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/HA828ZM/A/belkin-audio-splitter-35mm-m2x35mm-f ?fnode=63582f9cd24290de2d1749b7e75ef4d31…
And if a splitter doesn't work, is there any other way to allow for audio and power now?
thx,
SarahHi JamilMereck,
first of: you can edit previous posts in a time-frame of some minutes (haven't measured it ...).
After that they become non-editable.
I admit I have used microphones some years back with and without PCs (have switched to Macs 2.5 years ago).
But I always had the mics connected to a mixing desk, which provided Phantom Power.
Since I gave up my 'Singing Career' (wasn't good enough) I also abandoned the use of microphones.
To your questions:
It might be that PCs with specified Microphone-In ports are also providing power to them or the microphones themselves do not need any power.
And the 'compatible with...' refers to the usage on computers in general.
The iMic from Griffin works with OSX 10.5 (scroll down on the webpage to 'Product Compatibility' the left icon symbolizes OSX 10.5).
As said above, I am no longer up-to-date in usage of microphones, but when you want to use a microphone with the standard connector you have to get either a microphone preamp or a mixer.
If you use the mic only (really only) with your Mac Pro, you might wanna look for USB-connected mics from Samson or Audio Technica for example.
And don't get upset, I understand you fully and any kind of 'insult' is for the manufacturers and not for me

I have read a number of forum treads and I'm at my wits end. I want to capture in HD edit it in real time and export to DVD, BlueRay and Flash. I have spent hours on support and updated every driver and configuration setting that I know. PLEASE will someone tell me what do I need to do to get this to work?
Is it the DELL? Do I go to a Mac? (Ironic that most adobe tutorials are on Macs) Do I need a different solution? I'm going crazy! Maybe it's me and I'm capturing and creating sequences all wrong. Please provide a workflow that is working for you. Let me know if you need more specifics. Thank you in advance!2. I did a search for HDVSplit and came up with this site. http://strony.aster.pl/paviko/hdvsplit.htm Is this correct? Is there a released version?

Audio in and Audio out - MacBook Pro
Hello!
I'm interested in purchasing a MacBook Pro mainly for music production (I'm kinda new to the whole DJing scene) and I noticed a small difference between the 13' and 15' models. The 15' model includes a separate Audio in and Audio out while the 13' has only one Audio in/out exit. Does anyone knows what's the difference between the two? What can I do with a separate Audio in and Audio out exits like in the 15' model? Is it worth paying the extra $700?
Thanks in advance!slampog wrote:

Yes it is, the 13" is rather lacking on a lot of things, including the video card.
Mac's have optical audio in/out ports in the stereo mini ports, which produce clearly audiophile level music.
If you want to impress people, marry a 2.2 Ghz 15" or better MBP to a quality receiver and speakers with a optical Toslink adapter and cable and you'll "WOW!" them for sure. Hear the full quality of iTunes music you have been paying for and listening on crappy iPods and their cheap headphones.
http://www.amazon.com/Toslink-To-Optical-Mini-Adapter/dp/B0002MQGRM
And you can do a lot more with that 2.2 Ghz 15" (psst: get the anti-glare high res screen) -
Anyone know of dock for itouch 4 with charging and audio out
Anyone know of a decent simple dock for itouch4 with charging and audio out? Searched a bit but can't see one. My old Belkin dock connects audio with adaptors out but no charge.
I know what you mean. I would love to see Google offer the (email pic from mobile) to post like other sites (FLICKER, FACEBOOK, etc) offer. I did sign up for Facebook just to try it out. Worked great, but I really don't care for Facebook itself (or any social sites like it). Would rather just stick with Google's photo albums (also like their iPhone interface into it). All they need is the ability to upload via mobile and I would for sure use them only.

Searching Dock with for Power supply and Audio Out for iPhone 3GS
Hello,
I am rather new to Apple stuff but I now have an iPhone 3GS which I would like to use with my Yamaha Pianocraft.
The Yamaha has an optional iPod Dock. As far as I know, this would allow me to do things like pause, next track etc. via the Yamaha remote. However, I don't really need this and I would also like to be able to play audio from apps such as internet radio apps (e.g. 977)
So the Yamaha also has an AUX/Audio In connector on the back where I can simply connect my iPhone 3GS. Then I will just hear everything not through the iPhone speakers but through the Yamaha A/V Receiver.
However, this option would require me to have a cable connect at the top (headphone jacket) and at the bottom (connector for power supply), which does not look that good.
So I would like to have an iPhone 3GS dock that provides audio out as well as power supply. I have found three products for this (German Sites because I live in Germany):
Apple iPhone 4 Dock:
http://store.apple.com/de/product/MC596ZM/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOQ&mco=MTgxNTkwOTg
Apple Universal Dock:
http://store.apple.com/de/product/MB125G/C?fnode=MTY1NDAzOQ&mco=MTA4NDc4NDA
Amazon:
http://www.amazon.de/Dockingstation-Apple-iPhone-Audio-Out-wei%C3%9F/dp/B003UP77 HQ/ref=wlit_dpo?ie=UTF8&coliid=I18C98SXGWLNIF&colid=29EKL14S3VRAN
As far as I am aware, the iPhone 4 Dock from Apple cannot be used with the iPhone 3GS. Is that correct? Is there any solution or an "iPhone 3GS Dock" available?
Can these docks also provide the audio from apps via audio out?
I hope you can help me.Well on the backsite this product has audio out but not power, only the iphone connector.
If I want to use this station in one place only and not for syncing, I will have to buy another iPhone USB cable and another wall to USB adapter (altough I have come at home from other products).
Is there no dock that will not require some special iPhone cable? -
Version 1.1 and audio out via USB problem
When I attempt to use headphones to assist editing, I prefer to use the m-audio USB transit and set my sound preferences for the iMac accordingly, but STP in my case does not work at all. Instead, I hear clicking ( about 1 sec intervals), followed by STP freeze and unless I force quit, my system freezes.
If, on the other hand, I use digital out, or a FW interface or the iMac's speakers, all is well.
I am more than mystified since FC readily works with the USB pathway with video/audio , thus allowing me to use the FW ports on this limited platform.
I have trashed STPs preferences without any result. I also cannot find (or do not know where to look for) STPs specific preferences for audio out. I apologize in advance for failing to find the reference in the manual, if that is where it is and those settings are the issue.
Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated. At the risk of seeming to be talking to myself, I can report that I have found a solution to the problem I posted. To be more precise, Apple did, some time ago.

MPEG4 video from imovie is sluggish and audio out of sync
Hi y'all,
I am new to this. So I need some hand holding here. I am working with video that was exported in MPEG4 video from imovie on a mac.
The Camera I used is a Sony FX7 HD camera with SD tape.
So Now I am trying to edit the video using Premiere Pro CS3 creative suite.
Import into CS3 is fine. Playing the imported video in the source monitor is fine as well. All looks well.
However, here are the challenges I am having:
1. When I try to play it in the Program monitor its very sluggish. Audio plays fine but picture lags behind.
2. And once I edit the the video and try to export it as flash video or as a windows media, the video and audio are out of sync.
The video is choppy as well.
Details: source video is 720x480 and trying to export to 320x240
My project details are:
DV-NTSC standard 48khz
Video is 10 min longOK, not my choice of workflows, but... I assume that the MP4's are H.264 encoded. There are many of these. Three common ones are Lead, MainConcept and Apple. Some find that one works better than the others. These are not the ONLY versions, but are common. You might want to explore others, depending on which one you have installed. G-Spot can tell you which you have.
Next, you can Render your Timeline, to get things as smooth as possible.
Note that the MP4 files are heavily compressed already. Quality has been lost, and there is nothing that can be done about that. When you Export to, say DVD, you will recompress that material, and loose even more.
In the future, have your Mac-person do the Capture to .MOV [Animation CODEC]. Or, do it yourself to DV-AVI Type II w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio.
Not sure of any other ways to get the MP4's playing more smoothly. Much will depend on both your CPU and on your system's I/O sub-system, i.e. your HDD's, their size, speed, controller type and how they are utilized.
Good luck,

Video and audio out of synch after export
Hello guys,
I have 5 minutes long video on timeline.
1 audio and 3 video layers.
All looks good, but once I export it as QuickTime self contained movie (current settings) to my desktop, video and audio is out of synch.
Any ideas what it might be wrong?
Thank you for any advise.Hi
Did You Render All - first - before Export
Did You Mixdown Audio - Render Only - last line
What material was used
• Video Codec and fps
• Audio file formats and bit-depth and frequency e.g. .aiff 48kHz 16-bit
• What kind of Project Set-Up did You use e.g. Easy Set-Up - PAL-48kHz
Yours Bengt W -
Video and audio are out of synch on some chapters of a burned double layer DVD. The iDVD (7.1.2) project seems to be fine. I'm burning the DVD using a 1X speed. What else can I do to solve this problem. Based on the project information, I have plenty of space relative to the DVD capacity.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

HDMI audio and Audio Out mutally exclusive now?
Hello,
I have a 2010 MBP and use an external display via HDMI as well as external speakers via the headphone jack. This worked just fine until a recent update. After a recent update, when I have my display connected via HDMI the audio out no longer works. While I am able to route sound to the display's speakers via the Sound Settings, I would much prefer to listen to sound via my Klipsch speaker system that is connected to the headphone jack.
When I remove the HDMI connection, the speaker system works fine. The moment it is plugged in, the sounds cuts out. This used to work fine?
Any body have any information on this? When I google search on this issue, all I see are people having trouble routing sound via HDMI - which is basically the opposite of my current problem. It appears as though audio is know mutally exclusive -> it can only be routed to HDMI if its connected. If it is not connected, then headphone jack works fine.
Thanks for your time.when you did your update, it probably routed your audio through you HDMI cable which is it's main purpose since most people who coneects via HDMI doesn't hook anything to the source.
try hooking up your speakers to your display's headphone jack if you have one.
other than that, i don't know what else to tell you.
good luck... -
Importing Video from Video from GV-DV1000 NTSC Sony VTR - Image and Audio out of sinchronization
Hi, I´m using Final Cut Express 10.1.1. and to import video, the Sony GV-DV1000 NTSC. My Operating System is Maverick 10.9.2
When I import a Video, the audio and video is sinchronized but when I start to edit, video and audio are not sinchronized.
The connection from the VTR to the iMac is thru a firewire cable to a thunderbilt cable. There is a way to avoid this problem?
Thanks for your prompt response,
Sincerely,
Alberto Quiros BonettWe have heard of some capture issues with DV and HDV.
Most users get some success by capturing with QuickTime X.
Try a test.

Midi and Audio tracks simultaneously armed for recording
All, whilst engaged in laying down the bass track for the guitar solo section of my latest monster his, I encountered one of those sorts of frustrations that makes one long for some means of swift egress from this mortal coil, this vale of tears: that is, while laying down my totally awesome bass track that when they hear it will send JP Jones and Boosty Collins to employee as actuaries, I kept getting the hateful "unable to synchronize the audio and midi error." I'll spare you the catalog of the various lame attempts I understood to remedy this problem, as well as the curses directed toward my fate, and Daw ineptitude in general. Then I nnoticed that both the software instrument tracks (Addictive drums) and the audio track (aforementioned bass) were both armed for recording, signified by the red R in the track header! Well, upon de-arming the software instrument track I was able to record by bass line in a mimimum of takes, and as visions of illegal intozicants and comen of questionable morals dance through my noggin as recompsense for my trouble, with to make the point to all relative newbies such as myself that the answer to problems that seem on surface intractable as usually staring you right in the glazed eyeball.
What?...
I'm sorry maybe I don't understand everything you are sayng... but I can replay to the titles of the Topic!
Actually recording a MIDI instrument and an Audio Track symultaneously comes with serious bug!!!
you cannot use Punch-in on Fly when an Audio and instrument track is armed at the same time...
or better you can but the MIDI and audio output will be dropped for a moment
Provide a Logic feedback
http://www.apple.com/feedback/logicpro.html!
THIS IS A LOGIC 8 BUG!!! BIGGEST SERIOUS BUG!
I suggest you to use Logic 7 when you need that!
Thank you so much for remember me this..
I'm sorry no alternative solution... or.. if you have 2 Macs you can use one for Logic MIDI and another one for Logic Audio!

Pulling video and audio out of ts folder
Hi,
My client wants me to correct a mistake on their DVD. Unfortunately they do not have the original master tapes, leaving me only with a DVD. Does anyone know how I can extract those m2v files with audio so I can work with them in After Effects?
Is their a program out there? Thanks in advance.
-FrankChris, are you sure there's no 'copy protection', CSS or other stuff on the DVD ... i.e.what's its heritage/how was it created etc... ?
when you say 'can't get any other program to recognize these files'.. do you mean mplayerX, mpegstreamclip, VLC, QT, FFMPEGx, Gumby, mediapipe, simplemovie, DVDBackup & similar tools (for the DVD)...as well as QT pro & QT-based tools ? (there are a lot of players, decoders & converters about....
I generally use one tool to go from DVD structures to disk then use different tools on the files according to my goals...
BUT: i think everyone who works with this stuff'd agree that
b we need a hardy, general-purpose 'fix mpegs to compliant' tool for MPEGs on Macs (for use pre-quicktime)
i.e. a decoder/player with a 'pass-through' exporter which allows 'clean data' through
b without
recompressing audio and video because in almost every case where I've had the time to really look at the data, 99% is OK but the data has 'glitches' in it: bunches of binary zeroes from sloppy programming, junk After valid header/data chunks but before the next header from improper 'split & Join routines, lost timecode/data ... and so on... (You'll see 50MB mpeg files that QT info says are 10 secs long at "10MBps"...when they are 30 mins long - at the much lower correct data rate - which seems to suggest that the 'info' is obtained by a bum calculation in QT rather than by ref to info in the file & other headers. When played in VLC, mPlayerX etc. they generally play OK -i.e. for the 30 mins).
The trick is to get the output of one of these into a useable file on disk... without transcoding which is why de-MUXing and remuxing can be a good way to go..many of the tools discard bad data and/or reconstitute correct formats etc. mpegstreamclip is very promising, but it isn't clear just when it's transcoding.. and 'save' and 'save as' seem to often fail due to an apparent programming bug. [e.g. if you input m2v/m2a it'll often fix data & TC Breaks (great work!).. but you have to use 'export to/convert to/demux to for output := even if the target is 'm2v/m2a' same as input, you 'convert to' m2v/m2a.. which is not outstandingly intuitive ... grin
best wishes,
