Splitting audio

First, I had someone record the audio in Captivate, using the
record with slide preview feature. When she sent me the resulting
file, though, the timing of the audio was all off, with words
clipped from one slide, going into the next. So, I had her
re-record as just an audio file for me to import.
I imported the WAV file, selected the "distribute audio over
slides" option, and spent a great deal of time making sure I had
the correct snippets on the correct slides, using the the "Start
Next Slide" button and very meticulously adjusting the slide
separator bars exactly where I wanted them. But when I closed the
audio timing editor and went to my slides, I had three odd issues:
1. On the first slide, the entire audio file is still there.
Not such a big problem, I can just cut what I don't need.
However...
2. On several slides, the audio is clipped and the last
couple of words went to the next slide.
3. On other slides, there was no audio where there should
have been some, and the audio that should have been there is
missing entirely -- I couldn't locate it on any of the slides!
I can't figure out how to re-open the audio timing dialog to
adjust the slide associations. Is that possible? When I open any of
the audio now, I just get the audio associated with that slide, I
don't see the slide separators.
Or, alternatively, can I cut just a part of the audio from
one slide and paste it to another? When I tried this, I opened the
audio editor on one slide, cut a part of the audio, went to another
slide, opened the audio editor and tried to paste, but no go.
Any suggestions? Ideas on what I did to cause this?
Workarounds??
Thanks much!

this sucks big time and has cost me hours. For me, I am
trying to time my slides to the audio I record and without fail
something will have to be edited or rerecorded. When that happens
the audio is forever off. So, we tried a couple of things. Our Flow
was to record the audio in Soundbooth (great version 1 app btw) and
save out as AIFF. Then, take into flash and make it a .swf.. and
import that into captivate. Now we can drop an audio file into the
slide and it will just play till its done. This would be great for
timing adjustments and tweaks... but there is one big problem. The
book marking, pausing an playing will not work. It will just pause
the movie but play out the audio. If you try to go back.. the audio
will not play unless its the slide the audio started on. The audio
handling is the weakest link in this app hands down. I am hopeful
though. Adobe has done great things for all the aquired apps and
who knows.. maybe they will read the boards for updates. My wish
list would include a way to edit my timeline and audio as if it
were a Final Cut time line and each slide is a movie clip... each
audio file has an in and out point... and so on.

  • Split audio from hdmi

    Hi there,
    I'd like to replace my first gen Apple TV with a new one.
    The problem is the lack of analog audio outputs.
    Currently I connect to my tv with hdmi and to my hifi with phono plugs.
    The new Apple TV only has hdmi and digital audio out which my hifi doesn't ....
    Is there a way I can split the audio out of the hdmi so I can play iTunes through the hifi with the TV switched off?
    Cheers Lizardpoint

    I'm not aware of any cables that split audio from HDMI and in any case it would still be digital audio. You might want to think about one of the items below and use the optical cable.

  • When I perform a split audio edit, the timeline doesn't show it when the clips are collapsed!

    Especially the clip whose audio is 'covering' another... the timeline doesn't show it's audio as extending, and it would appear only that the clip for which audio has been shortened, is still there, or at "0"... what gives? If you uncollapse the audio, or detach it, you do, once again, see the split audio.
    Thanks

    Like Zambonisurfer suggested, this is so by design.

  • Premiere CS 5 - discrete split audio quick time outputs

    I am a relatively new user to CS5. I have a background with Avid Media Composer and Final Cut Pro.
    I need to send an edit of my movie to a music composer. The standard for this is to have the audio split in the Quicktime file - dialog and effects panned left; music panned right.
    I can mix the tracks in Premiere this way but all the output settings - mono vs. stereo, etc - have all the audio tracks mixed into the L channel and the R channel.
    After searching the forums and multiple outputs I don't think there is a way to do this in CS5.
    A few questions:
    1) is it possible to make split audio outputs in CS5?
    2) CS5.5 has more features, especially to send to Audition - does CS5.5 do split audio w or w/out the use of Audition?
    3) is this on Adobe development list?
    4) is there a work around?
    So far I really liked CS5 but not being able to make split audio outputs severely limits the ability of the product to be used in high end productions when you are dealing with sound houses and music composers who expect this to be standard.
    Both Avid and FCP (the pre-X versions I've used) can do this.
    Any advice?
    thank in advance

    Maybe I'm missing something here but, isn't that what you wanted?  Two separate channels?

  • Split Audio Broadcast Levels

    Hey, guys. I'm cutting my first project for broadcast, and I have a question about split audio levels. My sequence is set to the usual -6dB ceiling, but when I convert from stereo to dual mono and split the music and dialogue tracks, the levels suddenly jump up 6 dB. Why is that? I've had to lower everything to -12dB in order to compensate, and I want to make sure that I'm doing it right.
    Also, do I need to pan the bars and tone, or should I leave them in stereo?
    Thanks, and happy holidays.

    Well, it is true that every broadcaster has different specs for audio. Once had to do a show for Starz that also aired on MSNBC and local NBC... the specs for all were different. Video and audio...all different. Made it kinda expensive to deal with...almost restrictively so. We had to tell them that for this to be economical we needed a consensus... and they gave us some leeway.
    Thank goodness.

  • Cropping a split audio file

    Once an audio file is split how can I crop it?
    If I do a usual crop it crops the movie but not the audio! Obviously, I need to crop both audio and video, but how?
    Thanx,
    tc

    *If I drag along the blank area where there is no content, but still timeline, the song gets selected.*
    This is normal. iMovie has non-destructive editing. When you split your audio clip and then deleted the last part, you weren't really deleting it. If you deselect Show Clip Volume Levels in the View menu, you can place your cursor arrow on the edge of the remaining part of the split audio clip and drag it out to full length again. So, when you place your arrow and drag in the seemingly empty time line in the area once occupied by the "deleted" portion of the clip, the remaining clip will select. But if you move your arrow farther down the empty time line, beyond the area once occupied by the deleted portion of the split clip, then the remaining portion of the split clip will not select.
    *But, I still have a video that is as long as the audio was.*
    Forgive me, but I still don't understand what you are describing here or what the problem is. Can you describe in more detail what you are seeing and how it is adversly affecting your movie. As I understand it, your audio extended beyond the last video clip, so you split the audio clip at the point where the video ended, and deleted the last part of the audio. That should leave you with the video and audio clips ending at the same spot in the time line. Are you seeing something different? Or did you do something different?

  • Splitting Audio From Video

    Hello
    I'm having trouble splitting audio from video. I currently have Final Cut Pro 6 from the final cut studio package, and my issue is that my audio is not synchronized with my video. The audio is coming in too early for the video and the voices of the people in the video do not match up. How can I fix this problem? How can I move the audio without moving the video as well?

    Select the clip and hit command L to separate the tracks.
    The real issue is why the footage is out of sync.

  • Split Audio / Stereo Pairs

    I need to export a Quicktime with 4 channel Split audio, Channels 1&2 as a stereo pair, channels 3&4 as a stereo pair. Will CS6 do this? It looks like I can export mono channels, but not what I need. Currently using Final Cut 7 to do this, would like to eliminate the extra step and do it out of Premiere.

    You can get stereo track for rear channels via Adobe Audition.
    Have no idea if it's easier for you or not.

  • Cutting / Splitting Audio Clips, plus taking Fade OFF of audio clips

    Hi again all,
    I wanted to know if it's possible to split audio clips in two in iMovie '08? I can't seem to find a way to do it, and I've been trying to edit audio in Amadeus and trying to import again, but it's getting too complicated.
    Also--when two clips overlap, is it possible to take the Fade Off completely away, so that there is no fade at ALL? I tried playing with the ducking and fade sliders, but with no luck.
    Thanks in advance!
    --Melissa

    Melissa,
    to remove audio fade-in/fade-off from audio or video clip, select the clip, press A, toggle fade-in and fade-out to manual and drag both sliders to 0:00
    Here I'm just guessing what the actual name of the controls are in the english version of iMovie '08, mine is localized in italian.
    As per splitting an audio clip, I don't know how to do either.

  • HDMI output (Envy 17) - split audio?

    Hi,
       I'm thinking of using an HD TV as a second monitor for my Envy via HDMI cable.
    HDMI can transmit audio data...so how does this work?
    Will the audio come out of both devices?
    Or will I be able to choose?
    Is it possible to split it per application?
    Eg, media player audio comes out of the TV, and PC system sounds come out of the laptop itself?
    I imagine this is configured on the software level, if the hardware supports it.
    thanks

    Take your notebook to the store that has the TV you want to buy and try it there!
    This is how I tested the 3D function vid HDMI befor I bought my 60".

  • Split audio from video doesn't split video at the same point ?

    When I split the audio from a video in GarageBand I would like the video to be split at the same point (so that I can insert audio in between without everything getting out of sync).
    Is this possible?
    (I don't want to use iMovie since that turns my 150 MB mov file into a 8 GB file..take ages to import)
    The reason I want to insert audio in between video fragments is that I am creating an audio description of a tv series for a blind friend. I watch the video, pause that, and describe. Then continue.
    If I can split both the video and "audio from video" at the same point and drag those to the right, so there's room to record something in between (then in the end I'll just drag it all so that the parts join up, delete the video and merge the audio. I hope.)
    Thanks in advance!!

    I figured out how to reset the Youtube video upon hiding thanks to Heathrowe's answer and FigFrance's contribution to the thread found here:
    https://forums.adobe.com/message/4979969#4979969
    The secret was adding .empty() to my video container.  Here is my functioning button code:
    Show Video:
    //code to embed youtube into symbol
    var youtube = $("<iframe/>");
    sym.$("video").empty().append(youtube);
    youtube.attr('type', 'text/html');
    youtube.attr('width', '640');
    youtube.attr('height', '360');
    youtube.attr('src', 'https://www.youtube.com/embed/MyFv6UKsW70?rel=0');
    youtube.attr('frameborder', '1');
    youtube.attr('allowfullscreen', '0');
    // Show an element
    sym.$("video").show();
    Hide Video:
    sym.$("video").empty();
    // Hide an element
    sym.$("video").hide();

  • Possible to split Audio/ Visual for apple tv

    Hey,
    I have a projector in my room and was wondering if i could airplay movies through itunes to the apple tv (connected to my projector) and then keep the sound coming out through the headphone port (the speakers on the projector are average). As i have my laptop and stereo on the other side of the room and dont really want to have cables running along the floor. If this isnt possible are there any cheap alternatives.

    I was considering buying an Apple TV to do something similar, but after looking everywhere, it seems that iTunes on a Mac doesn't allow to Airplay Videos to multiple Airplay devices or split the Audio and Video signals (where one device would be AppleTV for the video portion, and other devices would be an Airport Express connected to my sound system for the Audio portion, or to play the Audio part on my own Mac - like you want to do).
    I don't know if it can help you, but I can describe the system that I am currently using, which works, but is not as elegant:
    About 4 years ago, I have purchased and installed on my Mac a software called Airfoil (http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/).  This capture software allows you to connect any numbers of Airplay enabled devices to your Mac via Wifi, and stream the captured content (Audio and/or Video). They have been doing this, way before iTunes could give you that capability for the Audio stream.  This allows me to stream music from my Mac, with the Pandora app, for example  (not just iTunes) to the multiple Airport Express I have distributed thoughout the house, where each AE has a differnet sound system connected to it.  The beauty about it, is that Airfoil ensures that they are ALL in synch - which is not always the case with the multiple speakers function which is built-in iTunes.
    Airfoil also comes with a built-in Video Player that can capture a DVD on your Mac, or any Web application like NetFlix, Hulu, etc, and output the video throught the Mac display port (where your projector could be connected), and at the same time stream the Audio portion through all your Airport Express (or any Airplay-enabled devices, like an Apple TV).  Airfoil also have an App on the iPhone (Airfoil Speaker), where you can stream the Audio from your Mac to your iPhone or iPad.  They also have Airfoil for iPhone, where any Audio playing on your iPhone or iPad can be steamed throughout the house via Airplay.
    In summary, for the Video feed, I have my projector connected to my Mac on one side of the room (using a mini-display to HDMI adaptor).  For the Audio feed, I have an Airport Express connected the sound systems accross the room (could be an Apple TV), or iPhone or iPod Touch....  Airfoil on the Mac ensures that the video stream to the projector is in synch with the Audio stream to the sound system(s) - so that the viewing doesn't look like a badly translated Japenese movie...  :-)
    The only draw back to that system, is that it requires a lot a CPU from my Mac for Airfoil to capture, slip everything, synch and stream to the Airplay device(s) - and have noticed that the Mac CPU fans run to high speed after half an hour or so into the movies.  It works great, but I have the (bad) feeling that it stresses the CPU/GPU of my Mac, and will shorten its life over time.  That is why I would have preferred a $99 Apple TV to be able to do the same thing - but apparently not (as of yet).

  • Split Audio out of Thunderbolt Port.

    I have a mid 2011 MacBook Pro and have been sending graphics via thunderbolt cable to HDMI TV input.  My question is:  Is there any audio signal that can be split out on the Thunderbolt port?  Thanks in advance for any thoughts.....Pat O'Brien

    No. This would be airplaying to multiple devices at once using an iOS device.  You can do this though in iTunes on a Mac if you have to.

  • Splitting Audio and Video Signal

    HI,
    I would like to be able to split the video and audio signal from my ipad via apple tv to enable the video to be viewed on the ipad and audio out of the amp speakers.  I can do this via bluetooth (for instance in my car) but not via airplay in the home.  Any ideas or app suggestions that might make this work?  Ultimately i want to cinnect the ipad into a projector and sending audio back the amp in another room.
    thanks

    U can use a digital to analogue convertor to separate the sound http://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Optical-Coaxial-Toslink-Converter/dp/B0074JZ8ZW

  • Is it possible to set up a split audio track....

    ...while recording and create 2 channels with their own effects settings. I have a Tascam US-122MKII audio interface. If one guitar is plugged into LEFT channel and one into RIGHT channel, can they be split up while recording?  I don't quite know if the TASCAM allows for this I'm not seeing anything in the manual and don't see wether LOGIC is capable of doing that? The idea is to record 2 guitars at once but split up the stereo into seperat tracks and then add effects so that each player has a different sound. The TASCAM allows 2 intruments ie: voice/guitar,or right and left XLR input but so far everything is imported to 1 stereo track...Any ideas on wether it's possible? Thanks everyone.

    Hi
    What I'm saying is:
    Make a new MONO audio track (use the + button). Assign it to input 1
    Make a second new MONO track, assign it to input 2
    Name both tracks, record-enable both tracks, and record.
    You could, of course, make both tracks in one go via the new track dialog box, and hav ethem automatically assigned to ascending inputs.

  • Split audio output

    Hi,I would like to play music for my friends from my Macbook and I need soft which can split sound output. So from iTunes sound will go to general out to speakers, and "que" sound from Quicktimeplayer or VLC to headphones connected to USB. Well anybody knows this kind of programs which can do that ?

    well it sounds like something WireTap Anywhere or Audio Hijack Pro might do, you're going in a different direction, I believe, than they're used to. You might check with them.
