Splitting domains for mail delivery
is there an easy way to have two domains deliver to two mailservers on the same xserve with virtual IP's (with functioning forward and reverse DNS) without multihoming?
Single NIC connection / Multiple domains Xserve G5
Thanks for the info, however that setup works for one machine that I have that had three domains pointed at it.
One is the main host (localhost)
Another is a virtual host (works great)
The third has a functioning site, can send mail but if you try to receive: "The server for account "[email protected]" returned the error "[SYS/PERM] Unable to locate maildrop: Mailbox does not exist."
If I turn off the virtual host and have it multihome to my first domain it works fine..
Settings, DNS, authentication etc have been triple checked....

Witch plug-in for mail delivery recipient
Hello,
does enyone know witch plug-in, delivery recipient, i have to download for "mail"? I'm looking for it on www.pure-mac.com and www.hawkwings.net/plugins, but i don't know what to look for to get a delivery recipient when i send an email...
thxWelcome to the discussions, goliat.
It is, I think, a plug-in to add a delivery receipt request to your emails that you are looking for. (A recipient is a person who receives Try Hawk Wings » Blog Archive » AppleScript for Return Receipts

DNS for Mail service Virtual Domains
On a server primarily running as a Mail server with 10.6.3 (DNS and OD also running)
If host name is mail.domain.com and
if mail service has a virtual domain virtualdomain.com,
in the DNS setup, virtualdomain.com should have an MX record like mail.virtualdomain.com and either an A record pointing to the IP of mail.domain.com OR a CNAME pointing to mail.domain.com?
When setting to the CNAME, DNS logs says:
"25-May-2010 11:47:52.610 zone virtualdomain.com/IN/com.apple.ServerAdmin.DNS.public: virtualdomain.com/MX 'mail.virtualdomain.com' is a CNAME (illegal)"
but if I set to an A record pointing to the IP, isn't there a PTR conflict with the mail.domain.com pointing to the same IP?SMTP requires an A or AAA as the required response for the box named in an MX.
Your MX for the domain or subdomain would/should/must aim at an A or AAA.
Not a CNAME. That's considered illegal.
Yes, random domains can all have their respective MX records pointing to the same mail server. So long as the mail server has an A or AAA record. And that mail server itself is expected to be configured to accept mail for those domains for local delivery, or as part of a relay. -
[Solved] postfix local mail delivery fails
Hi Guys,
on my home pc i use postfix (gmail as a smtp relay) and fetchmail for sending/receiving mails, this works very well, however sending a mail to a local user fails, I'm lost here and need your help guys.
if i send a mail like :
$>echo "Test" | mail -s "Test : local mail delivery" "andy"
The mail stays in the queue for ever...
$>mailq
-Queue ID- --Size-- ----Arrival Time---- -Sender/Recipient-------
CC82513BCA* 455 Sun Aug 3 09:53:09 [email protected]
[email protected]
Sending to external addresses works without any problems.
Here some important info/config files :

Last edited by Rumcajs (2014-08-05 06:16:11)I have solved it, and this was the problem (main.cf) message_size_limit = 0 i have set this to unlimited "0" so bigger mails not get rejected by postfix, the defualt value was 10240000 (~10 Mb) after finally checking the postfix log with journalctl -u postfix (because /var/log/mail.log) is not used anymore i found this line : "fatal: main.cf configuration error: mailbox_size_limit is smaller than message_size_limit" after setting mailbox_size_limit to unlimited "0" postfix starts to delivery local mail.

Fix for mail non-delivery in 10.5.2
After the 10.5.2 update I found that mail was stalling in the inbound queue - users could still send but not receive.
The solution seems to be to add your domain name to the Local Host Aliases list (Mail - Advanced - Hosting tab in Server Admin), turn on Enable Virtual Hosting, and add your domain name to the Locally Hosted Virtual Domains list. Voila - mail is back to normal after a Postfix restart.
Of course Mailing Lists are still completely broken with no idea how to fix them, but hopefully this will help if you've got mail delivery problems.sydchesson wrote:
So Alex. What is the fix??
SydChesson
I followed what was suggested on:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1328036&tstart=0
i.e.
**+Along with a standard Repair from Server Admin, this command did it:+**
**+/etc/postfix/post-install upgrade-configuration+**
**+It looks like the OS X upgrade missed a config in postfix that broke imap. I'm not sure how closely this relates to your issue, but hopefully it helps someone. It worked for me.+**
That almost fixed it. Thanks to EEFranklin.
I found that I also had to do a:
sudo postfix reload
Then it all came back happy again.

Hello,
I am having problems with my Apple Mail and Google Apps and I don't know what to do. I have been using apple mail with google apps for a few months now with no complications. In the last week I have recieved a handful of messages from the Mail Delivery Subsystem citing error "554 554 Denied". I know that the emails I have tried to send to are real emails and are entered correctly. I tried to send directly from google apps to one of these people today and it worked so I assume the problem is with Apple Mail, or is intermittent. Adding to my frustration is that it works with some people and not with others so it's hard for me to see exactly what is causing the problem.
Any ideas?
I'll include a copy of one of the Mail Delivery Subsystem emails I recieved - excluding the email address and message body.
Thanks for your help!

Delivery Split during creation of delivery for STO
While creating a delivery for STO, delivery is being created for individual line items. On analysis of VL 033 message, I found that the delivery split is happening because of Function SH: Unloading Point.
The message is
<i>"delivery split due to conflicting header data (Function SH: Unloading Point: <-> UP0065)"
Item 000020 cannot be shipped in the same delivery with the other items in the document because the header data (Function SH: Unloading Point) is different. The Function SH: Unloading Point item field has the value UP0065, but in the delivery checked for concatenation it has the value .</i>
This unloading point has been maintained in the customer master data (and needs to be maintained).
I have also been told by my Basis consultant that note 842704 is not valid.
Why is this happening and how to prevent it.
LakshmanSorry... but I could not see either the delivering point or the unloading point in the material sales: general / plant view. Those fields are not visible on the screen. I could also not find them in the config (I was checking if they are suppressed).

Exchange 2013 delivery reports for mail enabled public folder
How can I get delivery reports for mail enabled public folders? Would I search the related public folder mailbox?
Hi,
When you track messages using Delivery Reports, you can only choose user mailbox when you select mailbox to search. Under the option "Mailbox to search", there is no mail-enabled public folder listed there for you to select from
the address book.
But you can search messages sent to or received from mail-enabled public folder.

Delivery failure report for mail
Hi,
I have two queries on mails
While sending mail to single/multiple users,
1. Is it possible to get the delivery failure report for the unsent mails and the user to whom it was not posted?
2.Can the sent mail be posted to the sender's sent mailbox.
Thanks
NehaHi Neha,
1) If you set up an account for xMII on your mail server, then you should be able to use the "Read Mail" action to monitor that account's inbox for any delivery failure reports. You should then be able to parse the format of the message (which depends on your mail server) and retrieve the email address.
2) I don't think this can be done because it's something that your email client (e.g. Outlook) normally takes care of and is not supported in the SMTP protocol to my knowledge.
Hope this helps

Mail delivery failure messages for email I have not sent to contacts I do not know.
I am receiving Mail delivery failure messages for emails I have not sent; they are addressed to contacts I've never heard of, many different. Apparently, this is some kind of spam but I don't know what to do about it.
There is nothing you can do about it. It will stop at some point.

Outlook 2003 mail delivery failed for Active Directory user
Server 2003/Exchange2003
We are using an outside company (Integra) to handle our email and only use Exchange for shared archived email.
When configuring active directory users the wizard automatically sets up email entries in the format: [email protected]
When responding to a meeting invite from outlook to a local AD user, all users receive undeliverable messages for the accounts in the format [email protected] as below...
The example below was a bounce back when I accepted the invite. The invite shows up on my calendar just fine.
