Splitting large files for upload

I need to upload a very large file to an FTP site, 9.8G. This takes a hugely long time with my bandwidth and invariablly fails somewhere before it finishes. Does anyone know if there is software that will take a large file like this, split it up, perhaps into disk images, so that they can be uploaded separately and then reassembled?

If you perform a web search there are some file splitters available for the Mac, I don't use them.
Hopefully you will find a suitable one.

Splitting a document may corrupt it and make it no longer workable. Get a larger storage space for your document. If you must do it, do it on a copy, not the original:

What is the difference between: "Place..." or "Add files for Upload..."?

Where can I get information about the detailed differences between the commands "Place..." and "Add Files for Upload..." of the Files menu?
Understand that in both cases the files are linked and not embedded. But what further differences are there?
I came across this issue because widget 039 (Animated Image Rollovers) from MuseThemes works only if you use the "Add Files for Upload..." option.

There are a few differences in both the options-
Place is used to add content to page (rendered) while Add Files for Upload... is used to upload files to your site but not on page (not rendered).
Placed images are published to /images folder on the server while images added using Add Files for Upload... option are published to the /assets folder on the server.
Placed images have a chance of getting renamed (if resized/interpolated in Muse) upon publish while images added using Add Files for Upload... retain their names.
Place can be used to add limited file formats like jpg/png/psd/swf/oam etc while you can upload almost any type of file using Add Files for Upload...
You don't see Placed content in the Hyperlinks dropdown for linking while files added using Add Files for Upload... show up in the Hyperlinks dropdown so that you may link to them and allow download.
Both serve different purposes and Add Files for Upload... is preferred by Widget Developers because it gives more control over uploaded content and assurance that file location and name will be as expected.
Hope the above give you clarity on the basic difference.

ADD FILES FOR UPLOAD - IMAGE PATHS DO NOT WORK IN WIDGETS

I'm trying to add my own images to a widget I bought from Qooqee - the Wrapper_v2 image slider. But when I try to add my own images with the image path it doesn't work. I've tried adding the image with 'Add Files for Upload' - and then using the full path which I get from right clicking on it in the assets panel - but it still doesn't work.
Most of the widgets require you to either specify the image path, or an external URL. I do not want to use a third party image hosting site to get URL's for every image I want to use on the site - so I just need to know what I'm doing wrong with the Add files for Upload - why do my file paths not work in the widgets?

There is no "flash player similar to Adobe Flash Player". Flash is a proprietary Adobe product. There is currently no version of Flash for iOS.

How to Remove Files for Upload?

So, now that I've added files for upload, now I wish to change direction, how do I remove files that have been Added to Files for Upload to reduce clutter?

Can't select files for uploading through Flash Player

I can only say that this seems to be related to Flash Player, but I'm not 100% sure exactly what the cause of the problem is.
On most sites that uses a Flash uploader it won't allow me to select files for uploading. When I get to the Select A File dialogue box
all files are greyed out. This happens in Chrome, Firefox and Safari. I'm using the latest version of Mac OSX. I can't seem to find
any information about this anywhere on the web.

Make sure Java and Javascript are both turned on in Safari Preferences/Security.

BT Cloud - large file ( ~95MB) uploads failing

I am consistently getting upload failures for any files over approximately 95MB in size. This happens with both the Web interface, and the PC client.
With the Web interface the file upload gets to a percentage that would be around the 95MB amount, then fails showing a red icon with a exclamation mark.
With the PC client the file gets to the same percentage equating to approximately 95MB, then resets to 0%, and repeats this continuously. I left my PC running 24/7 for 5 days, and this resulted in around 60GB of upload bandwidth being used just trying to upload a single 100MB file.
I've verified this on two PCs (Win XP, SP3), one laptop (Win 7, 64 bit), and also my work PC (Win 7, 64 bit). I've also verified it with multiple different types and sizes of files. Everything from 1KB to ~95MB upload perfectly, but anything above this size ( I've tried 100MB, 120MB, 180MB, 250MB, 400MB) fails every time.
I've completely uninstalled the PC Client, done a Windows "roll-back", reinstalled, but this has had no effect. I also tried completely wiping the cloud account (deleting all files and disconnecting all devices), and starting from scratch a couple of times, but no improvement.
I phoned technical support yesterday and had a BT support rep remote control my PC, but he was completely unfamiliar with the application and after fumbling around for over two hours, he had no suggestion other than trying to wait for longer to see if the failure would clear itself !!!!!
Basically I suspect my Cloud account is just corrupted in some way and needs to be deleted and recreated from scratch by BT. However I'm not sure how to get them to do this as calling technical support was futile.
Any suggestions?

I too have been having problems uploading a large file (362Mb) for many weeks now and as this topic is marked as SOLVED I wanted to let BT know that it isn't solved for me.
All I want to do is share a video with a friend and thought that BT cloud would be perfect! Oh, if only that were the case :-(
I first tried web upload (as I didn't want to use the PC client's Backup facility) - it failed.
I then tried the PC client Backup.... after about 4 hrs of "progress" it reached 100% and an icon appeared. I selected it and tried to Share it by email, only to have the share fail and no link. Cloud backup thinks it's there but there are no files in my Cloud storage!
I too spent a long time on the phone to Cloud support during which the tech took over my PC. When he began trying to do completely inappropriate and irrelevant things such as cleaning up my temporary internet files and cookies I stopped him.
We did together successfully upload a small file and sharing that was successful - trouble is, it's not that file I want to share!
Finally he said he would escalate the problem to next level of support.
After a couple of weeks of hearing nothing, I called again and went through the same farce again with a different tech. After which he assured me it was already escalated. I demanded that someone give me some kind of update on the problem and he assured me I would hear from BT within a week. I did - they rang to ask if the problem was fixed! Needless to say it isn't.
A couple of weeks later now and I've still heard nothing and it still doesn't work.
Why can't Cloud support at least send me an email to let me know they exist and are working on this problem.
I despair of ever being able to share this file with BT Cloud.
C'mon BT Cloud surely you can do it - many other organisations can!

Splitting large file in XI

can we split the incoming file in XI, we are getting a large file of size 80MB , wanted to cut down to 40MB each
Sender system is sending 80MB file at single shot, they cannot change it.

Handling large files say anything above 100MB is always a problem with File adapter as the data has to be moved from Adapter Engine integration Engine and vice versa.
Third party tools are generally used for that. Conversion Agent by Itemfield is one of the best approaches.
Also, on the Advanced tab of the file sender adapter, select the check box next to Advanced Mode. There you can specify Maximum File Size (Bytes) option.

Handling large files for displaying within a JTextPane

I have some (very) large trace files sometimes up to more than 100MB and I want to group the traces which are originally stored unordered into this trace file.
When I tried to read in a just 16MB large trace file and used this command line option: -Xm60m I get an OutOfMemoryError.
Is there a way to handle (very) large (text) files most effectively? For instance, how can I achieve to group (some kind of sortation) a trace file of let's say 100MB most effectively? Maybe by splitting the file?
I want to display the text of this/these text files in a JTextPane coloring some particular parts of the traces.

I don't know of any way to display 100MB of text effectively. I'm sure the user isn't going to sit there and scroll through 100MB of data to find what they are looking for. I would probably load the data into a database and create some queries the user can invoke to filter the data.

FTP and HTTP large file ( 300MB) uploads failing

We have two IronPort Web S370 proxy servers in a WCCP Transparent proxy cluster. We are experiencing problems with users who upload large video files where the upload will not complete. Some of the files are 2GB in size, but most are in the hundreds of megabytes size. Files of sizes less than a hundred meg seem to work just fine. Some users are using FTP proxy and some are using HTTP methods, such as YouSendIt.com. We have tried explict proxy settings with some improvment, but it varies by situation.
Is anyone else having problems with users uploading large files and having them fail? If so, any advice?

How to send (larger files) for 'Shared Review'?

We are unable to get PDF files above 5.5MB to successfully 'Send for Shared Review' to a WebDav server (using Acrobat Pro 9.3.0 on OSX 10.5.8).
The 'save' process fails at the final stage & the PDF is not uploaded to the server. Files below that size can be sent for Shared Review without any problems. Have tested this on different WebDav servers & domains - and with various PDF files.
Has anyone been able to get PDF files above 5/6MB to successfully 'Send for Shared Review' to a WebDave server???
Is there a file size limit for individual PDF files for 'Shared Review' using a WebDav server???

Try creating a review without sending the file and then send the link in a seperate email.
I used the "Do not send email invitation, just save localy" option and didn't add any reviewers in the wizard. Afterwards I sent a email with a link to the file to all reviewers and it worked.

How to Split Large Files?

I've got a large 4GB+ file that I want to transfer onto my USB stick, but because it's a FAT32 format, it won't allow transferring over 4GBs.
How can I split the file into two 2GB files then reattach them after unzipping?

Good observations but maybe I miss the part where the OP says imovie is involved.
I used Split&Concat when I was transferring files from a PC to a Mac when I had .mov files that were larger than the flash drive capacity. The flash drive was FAT format so this post specifically rang a bell. I am trying to remember what I used on the PC side but Split&Concat used the same file splitting format which was cross-platform.

Splitting PDF files for iPhone

Is there any way to split large, protected pdf files to work with Quickoffice on the iPhone? Quickoffice has no "go to" page function making it very difficult to read a large document. I don't want to change anything in the file, just put the file into bite size pieces.
