Splitting Mini VGA signal between monitor and video projector??

Hello there,
I'm trying to develop an inexpensive tech setup for a classroom/lecture environment involving a mac mini. However, since the mini has only 1 DVI/VGA port, I am wondering how possible it is to split the VGA output and send it to both a VGA monitor (so the teacher can see what they're doing) and a video projector (so the students can see it) simultaneously.
In other words, the same screen content is sent to both display sources.
Can anyone recommend a reliable solution? I've researched 3rd-party VGA splitters to some extent, but am looking for some actual 'on the ground' experience doing this successfully.

I should haven mentioned that the video projector is ceiling-mounted at the back of the room while the Mini and monitor are positioned at the front of the classroom, so I am also concerned about lengthy cable-runs.

I have an iphone 4G-S, I get "NO SIGNAL" when trying to view Netflix while the digital AV cable is connect to my tv an my TV is on. If TV is off, signal is fine and video plays from netflix fine. Any ideas?

Steps I follow:
1. turn phone on
2. ensure signal is strong (att)
3. launch netflix
4. select and play video
5. watch video play for several minutes
6. plug in digital av adaptor with HDMI cable (not yet connected to television)
7. ensure video continues to play
8. connect HDMI cable to television (television not yet powered on)
9. ensure video continues to play
10. turn on Television
Result: video stops, results in "NO SIGNAL" as in no bars
11. Turn off television signal comes back and video resumes play
Is Apple or netflix purposefuly blocking the signal?

I should add that I see the video playing for about 30 seconds, everything looks and plays fine, then I get the "NO SIGNAL" and all att bars go away.
also, I'm using my phone istead of my laptop becuase I don't have internet service at home, wanted to just use my phone and it's unlimitted data plan to be able to watch netflix.

How to fix problems between audio and video sync?

Hello, I have this old camera DSR 200P and I'm trying to import to my final cut pro x. The importation success well but at the end the syncro between audio and video doesn't work. How can I fix it?
It's possible my mac doesn't accept this kind of camera or should I change any options of final cut?

I use to edit footage for a client that was recorded on a DSR-250 (successor of the DSR-200) and every time, every single time, the audio sampling rate would not match my Sequence settings of 48khz, 16bit. The sampling rate of the captured video was always off by a slight amount. It might be 47999.9 one time and 48000.1 the next time ... but it was never at 48000 as it should have been. I chalked it up to Sony using cheap synthesized crystals (frequency generator) to control the rate.
Anyway, the fix was to export the captured clip using QuickTime Pro with the export's audio settings to 48khz, 16 bit.

Differences between Monitor and Decrypt actions in Decryption Policies

Hi Everybody,
Currently I'm working in my first WSA (S170) implementation and some questions has popped up while I was configuring the Decryption policies. The main question here is:
What are the differences between "monitor" and "decrypt" in the URL Filtering options. As I understand the "decrypt" action allows the WSA to decrypt the packet and treats it like a plain HTTP packet applying the Access Policies, malware inspection and so on. Then I do not really know what the Monitor option does, I'm assuming that it does not decrypt the packet and only checks the destination URL and to allow or not the connection.

If you set it for Decrypt, it always decrypts stuff in that category.
If you set it to monitor, then other criteria in the policy are used for whether to decrypt or not, such as Web Reputation...

Mismatch between sound and video

When I watch a movie in iTunes of Apple TV (2gen) and I want to move it few seconds/ minutes and more backwards then it like "losing its mind",
the video jumps forward (a lot forward) and the sound stays the same, so ther is mismatchment between sound and video.
What can i do to solve this problem?

Do you mean fading in visible versus or completely visible at the end of the transition? Whatever the case, I have not
found a scenario to fit what you are describing.
However, here are my suggestions for you to consider...
1. What is the alignment of the Cross Dissolve transition - Left Clip, Between Clips, or Right Clip. If Between Clips, please try Left Clip alignment.
2. What is the duration of the Cross Dissolve transition - you could try varying the transition duration. If less than 1 second, then please read the
details for minimum transition duration in the following

Is there an easy way to switch mini dvi between monitor and tv?

I would like to be able to connect my mini's dvi output to a either a monitor or my tv. I am not trying to get a display on both simultaneously. With a DVI to DVI cable between mini and monitor and a dvi to hdmi cable between mini and tv I think that I can swap dvi connections at the mini, but that looks like a pain. Is there an easier way to do this?
I am about to order the dvi to hdmi cable. Is the mac mini's dvi port hot plugable or do I need to put the mini to sleep or shut down? Thanks,

The mini, like all Macs, looks for data from the display to determine what settings it makes available to the user, so with two displays connected and feeding their available configurations, the mini will get very confused! Even if the two displays have one or more common settings that will actually work, each time the mini boots or wakes and detects the display, one or other (or both) are likely to go blank.
There are adaptors you might consider, such as those from Gefen, but they are not inexpensive. Have a look at http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproductlisting.jsp?listingCategory=Switchers&productTy pe=dvi for a list of available switching options, though beware that for the most part, the need being met is for TWO sources and ONE display, not your ONE source and TWO displays.

Split signals between front and rear ports?

just wondering if it is possible to split two different feeds between the front and rear ports on an Xfi.
for example game sound through the speakers and then Ventrilo/Teamspeak via the front audio jacks on my case(as the Xfi has the header for front audio).

Sorry to bump an old post, but this is exactly what I have been looking for.
Does anyone know if this is attainable on the Pci-e X-fi Titanium card with an Intel HD audio front panel connected to the card?

Mac mini: VGA (HD-15) monitor & pin-switch adapter

My daughter is thinking of buying a Mac mini for her young daughter. I have a Samsung 172V 17" monitor, which has a VGA (HD-15) connector, which I have given them. The Mac mini specs. say that with its own adapter, one can use a VGA monitor, but do not specifically say that the HD-15 pin configuration is correct. Will it work?
I used to use the Samsung monitor myself with an old beige tower G3 Mac, and I had to interpose a Lindy adapter with 5 pin-switches. No-one could tell me the right switch positions; the ones specified by Lindy, and even the one recommended by Lindy's technical advisor, did not work. I finally found the right switch-combination by extensive trial and error (1 and 5 on, in case anyone wants to know), but I wonder whether anyone out there knows (a) whether the Lindy adapter will be needed if the Samsung monitor can be used with the Mac mini, and (b) what the right switch combination would be, if so.
I should be very grateful for any advice.

It will work with your HD15 cable directly in the Apple adapter shipped with the mini.
Old Macs had different video ports requesting adapters with lots of switches (mine had 8 !)

Toggle between monitor and TV

I want to watch DVD's played on my Mac Mini on my TV as well. Can someone recommend some kind of decent less expensive KVM that works if that's even possible? I'm not that techno.

I rented 2 movies on my mini3. I connected my mini3 to my MacBook 7.1 but can't find the movies. The only thing I can access from my mini three are the photos and videos. What steps do I need to know?

I have just purchased an eizo monitor and it won't let me open the 'colouredge program that comes with it until I disable video mirror function How do i do that on a Macbook pro?

I created a DVD and need to be sure that audio and video are in perfect sync (smaller than 1 millisecond).

My sequence settings in Premiere are:
DV PAL, 25 fps, 720x576 (16:9), D1/DV PAL Widescreen, lower field first, Audio: 48000 Hz
My DVD settings in Encore are:

Frame accurate is the best you can achieve and that means 33 milliseconds at best.

White gaps between regular and video slides

I have just created an adobe captivate video. There is a white gap between regular slides and animation slides. It usually lasts for about 2 seconds. Because of this my audio and video are no longer synced. This gradually gets worse as the presentation continues. Does anybody know how to get rid of these white gaps? I'm using version 3.
