Splitting POTS between FXO and modem

We are having intermittent problems connecting a modem/ cash advance machine to an ATA. As a workaround, we are thinking of splitting one of the POTS lines, connecting it to the modem and a port in the FXO card. Will this work or will it cause a problem?

Hi Thomas,
I do think this will cause problems unless you install a "cut-off switch" along with the splitter (to turn the POTS On/Off to either device). If this was used in only one application at a time and controller by the switch you would probably be OK. If it were me I would just designate the line for the Cash Advance modem and remove it from the FXO alltogether :)
Hope this helps!

  • OBIEE 11G Splitting Catalog between Analytics and BI Publisher

    Hi,
How to split and have seperate catalogs between Analytics and BI Publisher?
Thanks for your time and help.

The only way would be to scale out on the same server and add another instance. As the prior post mentioned, your security structure would end up being maintained in 2 locations. There is no way in 11g to do a standalone install of BI Publisher. You just check that and you get BI Server by requirement.

  • Cable between hub and modem

Hi I had infinity installed yesterday. The engineer installed the hub & modem in my hallway. I explained that my existing setup comprised of 3 desktop computers in the loft and two laptops. From the main bt socket in the hall a cable runs up to the first floor. The engineer said he could fit the hub and modem on the first floor which I did not want as it was in a bedroom by the door. He installed the equipment and connected a laptop using the wireless connection @ 20mb explaining that I could hardwire my desktops if I wanted a faster speed. My question is: Would it be possible to replace (extend) the red etherent cable from the hub to the modem so that I could have the hub in the loft or will I have to run 3 seperate ethernet cables from the hub in the hallway up to the loft. Any help is appraciated Thank you in advance. (sorry I posted this in the wrong form yesterday)

i also had to use a longer ethernet cable from my PC to my hub, about 10ft which i bought on the net,i can give you the web address if needed for ethernet cables.

  • Split signals between front and rear ports?

just wondering if it is possible to split two different feeds between the front and rear ports on an Xfi.
for example game sound through the speakers and then Ventrilo/Teamspeak via the front audio jacks on my case(as the Xfi has the header for front audio).

Sorry to bump an old post, but this is exactly what I have been looking for.
Does anyone know if this is attainable on the Pci-e X-fi Titanium card with an Intel HD audio front panel connected to the card?
    Thanks!

  • Splitting music between iPod, iPad and iPhone

    Hello all!
As the owner of all three of the above devices, I wonder sometimes what is the best way to split music between them. I have my entire library on my iPod classic but wonder how I should split things between my iPad and iPhone...Any advice?

You can sync whatever you like to each device.
You can sync by playlist, genre, album, artist, etc.

  • Splitting Mini VGA signal between monitor and video projector??

    Hello there,
I'm trying to develop an inexpensive tech setup for a classroom/lecture environment involving a mac mini. However, since the mini has only 1 DVI/VGA port, I am wondering how possible it is to split the VGA output and send it to both a VGA monitor (so the teacher can see what they're doing) and a video projector (so the students can see it) simultaneously.
In other words, the same screen content is sent to both display sources.
Can anyone recommend a reliable solution? I've researched 3rd-party VGA splitters to some extent, but am looking for some actual 'on the ground' experience doing this successfully.
    Many thanks,
    Richard

Thank you for your suggestion. I will look in to this.
I should haven mentioned that the video projector is ceiling-mounted at the back of the room while the Mini and monitor are positioned at the front of the classroom, so I am also concerned about lengthy cable-runs.
    Thanks

  • Comparison between split Adapter in Seeburger and EDI Separator

    Hello All,
Currently we are designing EDI interfaces using B2B Add-On.
I am trying to compare the split Adapter of Seeburger and EDI Separator of B2B Add-on.
    In Seeburger Splitter configuration:
The additional split configuration helps to map the Sender ID, (EDIType,Transaction,Version) combination to split channel and sender agreement.
I believe a List of Sender Id, Mappings (Standard, Transaction, Version) combinations can be added to the same Split channel and Sender Agreements.
    In B2B Add-On:
The sender ids , EDI details are directly mentioned in the channel and it is bound to sender agreement.
Does it reduce the flexibility in EDI Scenarios. Is that a correct point of view?
    Your inputs highly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Sudharshan N A

    Dear Sudharshan,
yes, I would say that this is a correct point/observation. When the Seeburger Adapters were introduced many years ago, one focus was put on the flexibility by keeping all functionality related to the "format conversion" (Classifier/Bic/Splitter) completely separated from the "data transmission" functionality directly in the channel.
This way, the format conversion modules could be included in any adapter that was running on the AdapterEngine and not just to the See-Adapters.
In a typical setup on client side, almost all inbound channels were using the "AUTO" functionality to detect all required parameters to select the right Split-Channel...so all channels had the same module-chains included (no matter if it was an AS2-Channel or a simple FILE/FTP-channel.
This also allowed for easy reprocessing of any received file (via AS2, X400 , OFTP or else....) by just putting the file again to a file-channel with the same module-chain parameters.
    Kind Regards
    Stefan
Btw... I am not very familiar with the B2B AddOn, but if you have additional questions regarding the Seeburger-EDI-Adapters, feel free to ask...

  • Can Oracle be forced to use the spatial index for sdo_filter in combination with an or clause? Difference between Enterprise and SE?

We’re seeing the following issue: sql - Can Oracle be forced to use the spatial index for sdo_filter in combination with an or clause? - Stack Overflow (posted by a colleague of mine) and are curious to know if this behaviour is due to a difference between standard and enterprise, or could we doing something else wrong in our DB config.?
We have also reproduced the issue on the following stacks:
Oracle SE One 11.2.0.3 (with Spatial enabled)
    Redhat Linux 2.6.32-358.6.2.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu May 16 20:59:36 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
11.2.0.3.0 Standard Edition and 11.2.0.4.0 Standard Edition (both with Spatial enabled)
Microsoft Windows Server 2003R2 Standard x64 Edition
However, the SQL works fine if we try it on Oracle 11.2.0.3.0 *Enterprise* Edition.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Kindest Regards,
    Kevin

In my experience sdo_filter ALWAYS uses the spatial index, so that's not the problem. Since you did not provide the explain plans, we can't say for sure but I think yhu is right: Standard Edition can't use the bitmap operations, and thus it'll take longer to combine the results of the two queries (because the optimizer will surely split this OR up in two parts, then combine them).
BTW: when asking questions about queries here, it would be nice if you posted the queries here as well, so that we do not have to check another website in order to see what you are doing. Plus it will probably get you more answers, because not everyone can be bothered to click on that link. It would also have been nice if you had posted your own answer on the other post here as well, because my recommendation would have been to use union all - but since you already found that out for yourself my recommendation would have been a little late.

  • Question about bluetooth communication between PC and mobile device

I am a newbie of bluetooth communication. This time I need to have connumication between PC and mobile device (mainly mobile phone) by sending strings. PC is acted as server and mobile device act as client.
For using bluetooth in PC, I use bluecove 2.0.1
I have already connected them successfully.
When I want to send strings between them, it is found that it can only do one cycle of communication (client -> server -> client).
For my design, they can communicate multiple times.
I simulate the core class of the system, the performance is fine.
Cound anyone help me to watch the code and give me some advices?

    i haven't worked with devices but only with the toolkit emulators;
    it definitely is possible...
u have to send the image as a bytestream and receive the image at the jsp end...
    and then reconstruct the image.
the Stream classes in J2ME AND J2SE are all u will require.
    also the Image class.
i have not done this but i have successfully sent an image frm a jsp and displayed it on the emulator.

  • Need help with ASA 5512 and SQL port between DMZ and inside

    Hello everyone,
Inside is on gigabitEthernet0/1 ip 192.9.200.254
    I have a dmz on gigabitEthernet2 ip 192.168.100.254
I need to pass port 443 from outside to dmz ip 192.168.100.80 and open port 1433 from 192.168.100.80 to the inside network.
I believe this will work for port 443:
    object network dmz
    subnet 192.168.100.0 255.255.255.0
    object network webserver
    host 192.168.100.80
    object network webserver
nat (dmz, outside) static interface service tcp 443 443
access-list Outside_access_in extended permit tcp any object webserver eq 443
    access-group Outside_access_in in interface Outside
However...How would I open only port 1433 from dmz to inside?
At the bottom of this message is my config if it helps.

Hi Vibor. Apologies if my comment was misunderstood.  What I meant to say was that the security level of the dmz interface should probably be less than 100.
And therefore traffic could be controlled between DMZ and inside networks.
As per thr security level on the DMZ interface. ....... that command is correct. :-)

  • X3500 No Connection between LAN and WLAN

    Hello,
I've purchased and installed an x3500 modem, and can connect to internet using both wired and wireless but my problem is, i can not ping or see/detect devices between LAN and WLAN.How can i fix this problem?
Mac filtering is disabled on wireless
    both gets ip from dhcp

Hi hakanbayar. Can you ping your Linksys device? If yes and you're using a computer, you may need to disable the computer firewall or security so it will allow you to ping other computers.

  • HT5887 Why doesn't AirDrop work between iOS and OSX?

Apple has almost always never fail to seamlessly integrate its devices, until now? I understand that there is iCloud for content sharing between devices. However, AirDrop was introduced as a simpler way for users to not only share contents between their own devices but as well as other users. I understand that the logic behind AirDrop was practiced by windows users since the creation of modem, though it requires many complex steps and compatibility checks to achieve a simple logic. (and Windows never really bothered with perfecting it over all these years, its improved, still buggy)
My question is, why can't we share contents between iOS and OSX? Everytime I need to transfer some files/content, the quickest way I could think of is to send an email to myself. Just the other day I tried to have my colleague AirDrop a file from his 5S to my MBP. I told him with great confidence that this tech existed long ago, and finally Apple decide to kick some DOS *** and launch a super simple version. And that it should by right work with any device with BT and/or WiFi, but knowing Apple, it would only be for their own products. Not in my wildest dreams it didn't work cross OS.
Forget the embarassment, I want to be pampered by this seamless technology. I want the type of exclusiveness with my fellow family and friends of which majority are Apple lovers. I want to regain the confidence that whenever I step out of my room, whichever device I carry/left out, I can do/resume/engage everything as long as I carry an Apple device.
Music, Videos, E-mails, Docs, Images, iMessages, are all checked. So why not Content Sharing?

We would like to know the answer as much as you would. All you can to direct your questions to the only people who can really answer: http://www.apple.com/feedback/

  • Interval between sound and image!

    Hello all!
I didn't see that question on the FAQs or in the most recent topics...
On burnt DVDs via iDVD 5.0.1, I surprisingly notice a half-a-second interval between sound and image (the latter earlier), approaching the end of a long movie (45 minutes), should the movie be captured from the camera as a single clip, or should it be split into several clips in iMovie.
As if the sound encoding would result in a longer sound tape as the video tape, the movie perfectly begins and the interval progressively installs...
Any explanation or idea or tip to fix that?

they may have been in a 12-bit format!
12-bit seems to be the industry "standard" for camcorders. Both of mine came set to 12-bit. I learned about switching to 16-bit with my first one, because I read the manual. I wanted the best audio.
