  • Can  SPML-DSML client (10g) talk to SPML-XSD in OIM 11g?

    Hello.
    I have a SPML client that works with OIM 10g. If I upgrade to OIM 11g, will my client continue to work, or will I need to re-code it?
    I understand OIM 11g supports the newer XSD profile of SPML, but I would hope it is backward compatible with clients written to work with the DSML profile (10g)...But when I got an error when I tried to hit the WS in SPML-XSD with my client, I decided to install the SPML-DSML app (using the SPML-DSML.ear found in my OIM 11g installation, same dir as DSML-XSD.ear).
    The web app shows as Active, however I cannot see any Web Services (tried URL http://<oim-server>:14000/spmlws) ... To confirm, when I open Enterprise Manage 11g, and I do see the app (spml-dsml) under Application Deployments --> Internal Deployments, but when I right click on it to get to Web Services, I get the message "No Web Services are found in the application"...
    I then tried un-installing SPML-XSD, but that did not help...
    Thoughts anybody?

    I tried again hitting the Web Service in SPML-XSD and saw this error in OIM server log (which I missed the first time, too busy looking at my client app log):

    I'm assuming this has something to do with the WS-Security setting. I used Microsoft WCF (WSHttpBinding) to consume the service,
    see the code below
    WSHttpBinding oimBinding = new WSHttpBinding();+
    oimBinding.Security.Mode = SecurityMode.Message;
    oimBinding.ReliableSession.Enabled = true;
    oimBinding.TransactionFlow = false;
    oimBinding.Security.Message.ClientCredentialType = MessageCredentialType.UserName;
    EndpointAddress oimEndpoint = new EndpointAddress("http://169.254.248.95:14000/spml-xsd/SPMLService?WSDL");*
    oimBinding.MaxReceivedMessageSize = Int32.MaxValue;
    _oimServiceChannel = new ChannelFactory<SPMLRequestPortTypeChannel>(oimBinding, oimEndpoint);+
    oimServiceChannel.Credentials.UserName.UserName = loginUser;+
    oimServiceChannel.Credentials.UserName.Password = loginPassword;+
    +SPMLRequestPortTypeChannel target = _oimServiceChannel.CreateChannel();+
    target.SPMLListTargetsRequest(new SPMLListTargetsRequestInput());+
    I'm not sure if WCF would make any difference in consuming a webservice... any way if you have any idea, code snipets much appreicated.

    Hello there,
    There is a .NET web service client which is successfully able to access the weblogic application server wsdl from oim 9101 and it can see the complete user profile as a response from the same.
    1.) Now, there is a situation where oim needs to send some attribute values to that .NET web service client, after the data from their side comes to OIM and updates a single attribute values for e.g. PIN. How can we do that ?
    2.) and I want to add some UDFs into the existing SPML provisioning user profile. How can I do that ?
    3.) Also, how will OIM know that it was able to successfully send the attribute values to the web service client.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10391_01/doc.910/e10360/creategtc.htm#Toc153968032
    I have gone through this. I didnt found this in OIM 9101.
    Any ideas/references/clues/hints appreciated in this concern.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Help needed for OIM 11g

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement to develop SPML webservices for Create User, Modify user, Password Set, Forgotten Password on OIM11g.

    Can anyone guide me how to start with it?
    I am new to WebServices on OIM so I need some guide or documentation available on net.

    *10G*
    SPML in OIM by default would give you everything that you require. I don't know you have seen this document or not:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14049_01/doc.9101/e14067/spml.htm#sthref97
    Refer section *12 SPML Web Service* and also *12.7 Developing the Client for the SPML Web Service*
    The former section talks about the sample wsdl and sample http requests format which are supposed to be generated from your client and the latter talks about the actual client. Find related java code and sample files in Xellerate\SPMLWS folder. Everything would be there.
    To start with, try your hands on this sample data and see if you can get SPML working. Once through bundle this sample client code to your actual
    *11G*
    The older version of OIM 10G was a little more detailed in this regard and the integration with SPML appeared a little easy. Although the features in 11G looks mroe exhaustive but unluckily the documentation also looks like limited.
    By the the operations which might cover your requirements could be:
    - addRequest for Create User
    - modifyRequest for Modify user, Password Set, Forgotten Password
    I would do 'Password Set & Forgotten Password' to behave in the same way.
    To start with I would use a tool like soapUI to point to the existing 11G wsdl and see what I can do with it:
    http://HOST_NAME:PORT/spml-xsd/SPMLService?WSDL
    Once clear, create another hosted SPML webservice and assign an end-point URL.

  • OIM 11g to provision a web services based application , how ?

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to provision using GTC connector in OIM but the problem is i know how to write a webservice but i'm newbie to OIM 11g so i am not able to integrate my webservice to the OIM GTC connector.
    Highly appreciate if any one give me the background or steps to follow how to execute the provisioning using custom web service in OIM 11g.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    -Just trying to help-
    Based on OIM 11G requirements:
    If your target system is a Web service that can accept and parse SPML-based provisioning requests packaged in SOAP messages, you can use the SPML provisioning format provider and Web Services provisioning transport provider.
    You need not create custom provisioning providers.
    1-SPML provisioning format provider
    TargetOperation value object that is created by the SPML provisioning format provider and used as an input for the Web Services provisioning transport provider:
    com.thortech.xl.gc.impl.prov.WSTransportTargetOperation
    2-15.4 Web Services Provisioning Transport Provider
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e14309/prdfnd_prov.htm#CHDJBFAI

    I increased the memory to 8GB, more than sufficient I guess. The problem is still there.
    I think the problem may be around some of the options I picked when installing.
    I picked the Sun JDK instead of the JRockit one.
    I picked development mode instead of production.
    Do you have this version of OIM running under vmware? If so what is the config?

    I saved it to xml-file and opened in Internet Explorer and there was error.
    Then I decided to watch the view of this request in OIM 9.1.0.2 to compare with request in OIM 11G.
    I found out next one:
    the main difference was in last tag "*</#document>*".
    I take this tag off from xml-file, taken from request of OIM 11G and saved the file.
    Edited xml-file was correct.
    Is it error in connector or in OIM 11G?How to solve it?Can anyone help me?

    Hi!
    I get the same error during Add Credential task with the ESSO PG connector in OIM 11g.....
    The add_credential execution failed. Error: Error in Sending instruction from the provisioning manager in API Command  (400)Bad Request.
    com.passlogix.integration.provision.client.CommandInvocationException: Error in Sending instruction from the provisioning manager in API Command  (400)Bad Request
    Where I can check the xml file?
    You could solve the problem?
    Thanks in advance!!!

  • XML Parsing in a Schedule Job (OIM 11g R1)

    Hi,
    I am writing a lookup recon - schedule task in OIM 11g R1 to connect to a webservice and get the lookup attribute values. Now, I am able to fetch the values in a xml format. I am facing an issue while trying to parse the xml values (tried both as a string and from a file).
    I have tried using both the SAX and the DOM parser. PFA the snippet for the DOM Parser:
                        DocumentBuilderFactory builderFactory =
                            DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
                        DocumentBuilder builder = null;
                        try {
                            builder = builderFactory.newDocumentBuilder();
                        } catch (ParserConfigurationException e) {
                            e.printStackTrace();
                        org.w3c.dom.Document doc =
                            (org.w3c.dom.Document)builder.parse(file);
                        System.out.println("Parsed the xml");
                        org.w3c.dom.NodeList nodes =
                            doc.getElementsByTagName("entry");
                        System.out.println("Total Profiles fetched:: " +
                                           nodes.getLength());
    This is giving the nodes.getLength() as 0. Though the code runs fine in the Java Client (directly from eclipse)
    The snippet for the SAX method is :
                SAXParserFactory factory = SAXParserFactory.newInstance();
                SAXParser saxParser = factory.newSAXParser();
                DefaultHandler handler = new DefaultHandler() {
                    boolean bfname = false;
                    boolean blname = false;
                    boolean bnname = false;
                    boolean bsalary = false;
                    public void startElement(String uri, String localName,
                                             String qName,
                                             Attributes attributes) throws SAXException {
                        //   System.out.println("Start Element :" + qName);
                        if (qName.equalsIgnoreCase("d:Name")) {
                            blname = true;
                    public void endElement(String uri, String localName,
                                           String qName) throws SAXException {
                        //     System.out.println("End Element :" + qName);
                    public void characters(char[] ch, int start,
                                           int length) throws SAXException {
                        if (blname) {
                            System.out.println("d:Name : " +
                                               new String(ch, start, length));
                            blname = false;
                           saxParser.parse("home/oracle/UserProfiles.xml", handler);
    This is throwing a java.net.malformedurlexception: no protocol: /home/oracle/userprofiles.xml exception. I tried to pass it as "file://home/oracle/UserProfiles.xml" but then is gives a
    java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused Even this code is running fine in the Java Client when ran directly. It seems there is some weblogic configurations I am missing for the XML parsing?
    Please do help, if anyone has faced any issues parsing an xml in a Schedule job. Will highly appreciate your inputs.

    I don't think OIM 11g supports DSML profile and may be that's the reason you are getting NPE.
    See: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e14309/spmlapi.htm#CHDCBJAI
    It states:
    "SPML has two profiles: the XSD profile and the DSML profile. This release of Oracle Identity Manager makes use of the XSD profile."

  • Missing SPML Search Services in 11g

    OIM 10g had some some SPML services to perform searches. This is documented at:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14899_01/doc.9102/e14763/spml.htm#sthref92
    These services seem to be missing (or have moved) in OIM 11g, 11.1.1.3.0.
    Any idea what happened? Is there still a way to do a search against OIM 11g via SPML services?
    Thanks
    Aspi Engineer
    Putnam Investments

    They are not available in SPML. They moved to IGF/CARML, this is available starting with 11.1.1.4 . Kind of a big change but then who uses SPML anyway

  • OIM 11g Plugin - Third Party Jars : Classloader issue

    Hi All,
    I am having a Plugins.zip under middleware/Oracle_IDM1/server/plugins folder.  [OIM 11g R2]
    This gets invoked from a schedule job.
    I have third party Jars (axis.jar) within Plugins.zip/lib. My code within Plugins.zip calls Thrid Party APIs.
    Now the issue is:
    The APIs (within axis.jar) do not seem to find property files from within their own JARS.
    These property files are within their own Third Party Jars and the Third Party APIs should be able to access them by default. I have tested these APIs from stand alone clients and web clients, they work perfectly.
    But within the Plugins.zip, these third party APIs do not seem to find property files from within their own JARs.
    Looks like some class loader issue. Something must be getting messed up in the way the Third Party JARs from within the Plugins.zip/lib are loaded.
    Has anyone faced similar issue.
    Any suggestions please?
    Thanks,
    Sandeep

    I placed the required JARs under middleware/Oracle_IDM1/server/ThirdParty.
    I also executed UploadJars utility for required JARs.
    I have also added to server startup path : .../middleware/Oracle_IDM1/server/ThirdParty/axis.jar.
    But I still get the following Error:
    java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError
    Caused By: java.util.MissingResourceException: Cannot find resource 'org.apache.axis.i18n.resource'
    I'm calling axis APIs from my code. The resource "org/apache/axis/i18n/resource.properties" is clearly present inside axis.jar.
    My client works when executed outside of Plugins.zip.

  • SPML Web Service in 11g (XSD): fail to get the psoID

    Hello.
    Has anybody successfully used the default XSD version of the SPML web service in 11g? I was able to successfully invoke the Add User operation but I'm not seeing the psoID (this is the unique ID generated by OIM for the user) for the newly added user... The Oracle docs for 11g do not show how that is returned... I would think that in would be in the response but I do not see it there... Someone suggested using Search User to get the psoID but I do not see a Search operation in the WSDL for 11g...
    I'm starting to think that the XSD version of the SPML in 11g is maybe incomplete? When I get chance, I may deploy the DSML version of the web service, and then run the Sample HTTP Client to see if that works better. I understand that this DSML version is what was used in 10g, and may be more robust.
    Thoughts anybody?

    Sunny,
    As you have pointed out, API will work.
    But regarding your statement:
    "Use SPML10g along with SPML11g (this is the cleanest OOTB solution wherein you can use the older set of SPML methods to fetch the userKey and then use newer SPML methods to perform asynchronous operations). I did the same"
    SPML samples that came with 10g did not work with OIM 11g for me. Because from what I know, SPML in 10g made use of DSML profile and that is not supported in 11g.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e14309/spmlapi.htm#CHDCBJAI
    "SPML has two profiles: the XSD profile and the DSML profile. This release of Oracle Identity Manager makes use of the XSD profile."
    Did you tweak something to get it working?
    Thanks.

  • Custom Webservice Using OIM APIs

    Hi..
    How can we create and publish a custom webservice from OIM APIs??
    OOTB SPML Webservice does not support all my requirements.
    Thanks...

    The OOTB Web services are mostly asynchronous, so its not mostly suitable for our synchronous activity in OIM. like create,update,enable,disable etc
    So in order to develop the webservices...
    first of all list down all the methods which u need to publish.
    Write Java code for each methods..
    after that publish all methods as Webservices (JAX-WS) on Weblogic server where OIM is running.
    After that you can access your custom webservices of OIM.

    J
