Spontaneously Combusted Internet

This morning my internet was working fine at normal speed. Then this afternoon everything died. I didn't change any settings. I use my mac under a 802.11g Wi-fi connection, and it is dead. My Dell, (Win. XP Pro SP3) is hooked up under an ethernet cable and is also dead. They are on the same modem; that is, the wireless router is connected to the modem, not another line. Both Safari & Firefox don't respond; Firefox says that it just can't find the server, as if I'm simply offline. On the Dell I get a message saying that there's an IP address conflict, a message taht I have not seen before since setting up my Mac. Is there a reason why this connection just died? Now I can't access the internet at all. I have not yet tried it under my Boot Camp partition of Win XP Pro SP3 (neither virtualization or reboot). Any help, suggestions, or ideas will be appreciated. Firstly, I don't get spam. I have a standard spam filter, and if any spam comes my way I can test my own smart filter. I'm not worried about spam.
I have rebooted the router, to no avail. I tried several times, under different settings (secure, open, etc.) and nothing happens. I initially found the problem on just mine, with the Dell off. So it's not a problem with the other on. And my computer is too far away from the modem for a direct ethernet connection, so I can't try that. I doubt that'll do anything good anyway. Any other suggestions?

How do I obtain a replacement for a spontaneously combusting MageSafe Adapter?

A few weeks ago, my MagSafe adapter decided to set itself on fire. I bought my MacBook in 2008, but still, despite that I'm sure there are many who would try to convince me that this is a "feature", I don't think properly built components are supposed to spontaneously combust. Is there a way to get a replacement or at least speak to someone at Apple? My nearest Apple Store is 2 hours away, so it's not really an option, and I could find no customer service or phone contact that didn't require payment.

I had the same thing happen a few years back. No refund or replacement, I'm afraid. Wear and tear over the years. Have since learnt to be more careful with adapters, not kink when rolling up etc. It may have been faulty but it took six years to show the fault. I have had toasters blow up within six months, but after warranty, so still no repair or replacement. My advice? Bite the bullet and purchase a replacement.

Spontaneous Combustion

A little while ago, i had my iPod plugged into my computer, wasn't listening to music or anything, but it was charging. I was gonna go grab some food, then I noticed, in the corner of my eye, a little orange glow. Looking down, there was a small flame randomly on my USB cable. It was small enough for me to blow it out and the cable smoked for a moment before my iPod disconnected and the cable stopped working. If I wasn't I the room it could have set more stuff on fire.
Now, my warranty may be up, but an Apple product spontaneously combusted and could have caused some major damages and I thought maybe that was worth something.

7.1 & my iPod *spontaneously combusts*

I've had a good couple of days of complete and utter BS with the new iTunes update and am still left with a major problem!
Initially, instead of syncing my iPod with three new albums and podcasts it decided to deleted everything on the iPod, as if my library was blank.
3 restores and resyncs solved that... then I got the lovely (-48) error, so I set my time and date location to Cupertino, restored (again) then it everything synced properly... once.
Now this morning, regardless of wether I select 'manually manage songs' or 'only sync checked items' - iTunes always sets about deleting everything off my iPod as if my library was blank.

Can anybody offer any advice or input. If I have to restore and resync every time I want to add new matieral or podcasts - I may head may explode!

I've the 5.5G iPod, iBook G4, OS X 10.4.8 and the sodding new version of iTunes. No 3rd party apps.
I thought I solved the problem the other day by letting the iPod deleting everything in the hope that it resynced everything... which it did.
But having just reconnected my iPod, and even enabling the option of 'only sync checked items' - it's still deleting everything from my iPod.
How do you reset the 5th gen iPod? You know, by the sliding of the hold switch etc etc.
Oh I see they've released 7.1.1. - will download and report back.

Keychain spontaneously combusted

Installed Leopard on day one and have had issues of various sorts but Keychain hadn't played up until just recently.
So I had this one reboot about a week ago where I tried to reboot and an hour later it was still at the blue screen. I powered off and back on, and when I got back in, my login keychain didn't work.
Calmly I moved it aside, created a new one and things worked again.
OK, I thought, let's restore from backup to get back my passwords. I take my backups manually at points when I know I've done something worth saving -- my most recent one was no exception, and at the time I backed up I know my keychain was fine. So I copied my old login.keychain into a login-old.keychain file and opened it up, and it's still "corrupt."
Keychain First Aid is useless, all it does is deletes the keychain from the list. I don't know how that could even be described as "first aid." It's like calling an ambulance because your foot is bleeding, and then when the paramedics come they just cut off your leg and drive off.
So anyway, to summarise, I have a login keychain backup taken at a time when the system was healthy. How can I get the password information out of this keychain and back into a working one?

TS2755 iphone 5 deleted all texts spontaneously

Whilst sending a text message, text seemed 'jammed', then all my texts on phone both SMS & imessage completely spontaneously combusted! All completely wiped. I rebooted my phone, synced it with computer, updated to IOS 7.0.4, no luck. I have 2.7GB capacity available (10.8GB used) Any help on retrieval appreciated thanks!

In addition to the above, I have found that many of my notification settings have changed a lot. I had almost zero notifications showing on a lock screen. Now emails pop up in preview mode, calendar invitation responses pop up, etc.

MBP's Network Card is JUNK!!!

My friend and I bought Apples together. I bought a Macbook Pro and he bought a regular Macbook. We travel across the country for work and while sitting in the hotel rooms, he can get a strong signal and I always get nothing. Also, the same networks he can join, mine just says "Error joining the network." I went to talk to a Mac Genius today and he had no idea. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

You mean the built-in Apple AirPort card? The one that I am using right now cruising the Internet flawlessly while sitting in my back yard, about 200 feet from the base AirPort Extreme?
There has to be some intimate setting that needs to be flipped on your MBP. I am sure others here will assist you. I don't know the settings well enough - they just have worked for me without problems from Day One.
Just for the record, I have the ONLY MacBook Pro that came from Apple with no problems - that is, if I were to believe everything written in these messagegroups. My batteries don't explode. My AC adapter hasn't spontaneously combusted and burned my cat to death. My 17" matte display doesn't have a single pixel out of whack. No matter where I place my AC adapter, the internal speakers work as expected. Airport performance is to my liking. I am the luckiest guy on the planet...and this was my first Mac purchase after spending over 20 years with that other OS.

4500x 10Gb/s network card

Hi all
I'm configuring a new 10Gb/s switch solution (WS-C4500X-F-16SFP+) with DAC cables (SFP-H10GB-CU5M) for our customer. He asked us a 10Gb/s compatible network card for his ESXi servers. I've looked several brand (qlogic, intel, broadcom) but I'm not able to find a compatibility between switch->dac cable->netwok card.
Could you suggest me a correct network card for this configuration?

No longer works with wall charger

I have a Logic3 wall charger and it used to work fine with my 3rd gen iPod nano. However, right after installing an update around Oct/Sep I believe, it stopped working. Everytime I plug it in, the screen freezes and it doesn't charge; I know because I assumed it was charging and it had no more battery.
It isn't the charger because it works fine with friend's iPod (though they bought theirs just recently). I'm not sure if the update caused this, but I'm not sure. Please help if you have any info. Thank you.

I realize that my warranty wouldn't have covered it, just sometimes I wonder if it's really a coincidence that everything I own spontaneously combusts days after the warranty runs out.
But thanks for your response. At first I left it for a couple of hours, and then tried another four days. It was okay for about two days, but came back.
Then it went away by itself again for a while, but now it's back and worse than ever. A lot of times I can't even get the error off the screen. And if I try to play any songs, the song starts skipping.
There isn't anything else I can try, is there?
At this point I'm starting to think I'd be better off with a new one. In my experience, sending things in only ends up costing more than the thing itself and half the time it returns still broken.
It's too bad, I much prefer the lst generation Nanos to the 2nd.

Photo Albums not working with iPhone/iWeb/MobileMe combination

OK, I find this surprising given this is an all Apple deal here...
When I create Photo Albums and photo pages the pages don't display any of the images on my iPhone... Works OK on my Mac's Safari, works OK on Firefox... iPhone, nothing, it's like the Javascript they use to create the photo albums doesn't do it's thing on the iPhone version of Safari.
And apparently if I leave my iPhone on my desk while I type this message with the browser window open to the page with no images it spontaneously combusts... er... I mean it reboots the iPhone (not just a Safari crash).
Apple... How do I see my Mobile Me Web Site on my iPhone?

The photo pages and MMe albums require java script support to view and iPhoto doesn't have that as yet as far as I know.

Odd timeout problem (I think)

So, off the bat, I'm running Apex 3.0.1.00.07. We're due for an upgrade, I know ;-)
Anyway, in our production environment we are running into this weird issue where our users will be running a report, then go do something else in another browser window for anywhere from 15 to 25 minutes. They come back, and the report won't load any data anymore. All the LOV's are still populating, application items and computations seem to be set correctly - APP_USER, language settings, it's all there, and they haven't been bounced by our SSO login process. But it's as though something timed out, they only get No data found type messages on this one report. The other reports seem to work just fine.
In addition, there's no time-based criteria on this errant report. It's like it just goes bad after a certain amount of inactivity and the user has to completely log out of our portal and get a new SSO session to get back to normal and get the report to work.
It's really fishy, only seems to happen in our prod env. I'm wondering if something cached by apex (like session stuff) is going stale?

Does Apple WANT people to move their storage elsewhere and stop paying Apple for it?
Yes. Apple doesn't provide such a service anymore, nor are you paying them for it.
Apple has made no effort to suggest remedies for the problem it has given iDisk users
They've provided instructions on how to download your files from your iDisk. What you do with them after that is your choice.

I am having the same problem I think. With mobileme you simply copy documents to the idisk folder and then synch. I cannot seem to sink that folder anymore. Any idea as to how I can simply copy folders to icloud and then access the MS Word and PDF file

It works grand on preview mode and it works great on preview site in browser however when i published the site through my server today and put it online this link wont work. Absolutely driving me wild, ive been through everything over n over and its getting late in the day and I should be out enjoying a few pints in Dublins fair city. Im getting cabin fever in the office and its probably the hottest day we've ever seen here so any help asap is much appreciated.
when i was doing the nav/menu I did delete the [home] button from the list that muse automatically builds for you. So I am hazarding a guess that this may have something to do with it. ??? or am I looking for the prob in the wrong field. Jaysus though if anyone knows will you let us know before I spontaneously combust under by own frustration. My lips are hanging off me here for a sip of the pure drop so give us an auld dig out, "The Man" says I cant leave until I have it fixed and I might aswell be asking the office furniture than any of the clowns left in this place. Should I be worried about a scam UK Gov website taking over an open tab on Chrome?

Hey all, just experienced this scam take over a browser window on my Google Chrome.
I can't remember if I closed the window manually or using command + w and I was wondering if it makes a difference.
A little pop-up came up after, and I clicked the "Leave this page" button. Cleared all history on both Chrome and Safari and disabled Java on Safari.
My browser wasn't actually blocked and nothing was in my Downloads folder.
Just making sure that it won't come back to bite me in the butt.
Don't usually follow through so thoroughly, but I have my final graduate school paper due in 48 hours so I'm just making sure my macbook isn't going to spontaneously combust on me!

UPDATE:
(I dont have the snow leopard disks, a certified tech and good friend set me up with some legit bootable USB drives and DVDs of mountain lion)
The CD/DVD install was a no go. After 3 hours I gave up watching the white screen and turned the computer off to continue investigating.
I figured the CD was too old or something, who knows.
I attempted to create my own USB bootable drive by pulling the contents off the CD because I cannot download large files. (It would take a whole day)
It was a sketchy process and I know I couldnt set up the USB into a pristine bootable drive so I kept having to test things, constantly forcing the computer to shut down and turn on to no avail.
At one point I got a fire wire cable and got it to show up on my wifes computer in target disk mode, but when I went to erase the partitioned drive, a error appeared saying it couldn't unmount, and since then, target disk mode will not show up on my wife's computer. I figured that constantly shutting it down caused more problems...
Finally, I found a new 8GB USB stick that a technician from apple helped to create a bootable Mavericks drive on, and for the first time the computer booted to the installation screen and began installing, However, after 10mins, it stoped and said the hard drive is damaged and needed to be restored.
I am doing one last Option Zero erase on the main drive, then I will partition a proper MacintoshHD in the correct format in hopes that this will clear all the crap that could have accumulated during testing. I will attempt to do a clean install of mavericks.
If I succeed I will run a Disc Verify and Repair, and a Disk Worrier report to make sure.
If this fails, I have a 1.5T External Hard Drive, (Seagate Free Agent GoFlex)
I can unload its data onto my other 2T external hard drive,
Format the Goflex to a suitable mac hard drive then take it apart and put it in my computer.
Since I cannot order a hard drive, does that seem like a good idea? or a really bad idea? lol
