Sporadic errors in XML DB (ORA-00600: internal error code)
We observe a sporadic error in an XML DB based application. The error message is as follows:
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [qmxMakeFake1], [], [], [], [], [], [], []
Our application uses Java / JDBC to connect to the Oracle XML DB server (Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production). The error occurs for several SQL queries that involve changes to XML files in the database. Here are two representative examples:
update EPIGRAPH_095 e set value(e) = insertchildxml(value(e),'/EpiGRAPH/analysis[global_settings/job_information/id/text()="070427_164952_518077172"]/class_analysis/attribute_calc_analysis','results',XMLType(:1)) WHERE e.existsNode('/EpiGRAPH/analysis[global_settings/job_information/id/text()="070427_164952_518077172"]/class_analysis/attribute_calc_analysis') = 1
update EPIGRAPH_095 e set value(e) = updatexml(value(e),'/EpiGRAPH/analysis[global_settings/job_information/id/text()="070427_145224_574975277"]/global_settings/job_tracking/status',XMLType(:1)) WHERE e.existsNode('/EpiGRAPH/analysis[global_settings/job_information/id/text()="070427_145224_574975277"]/global_settings/job_tracking/status') = 1
In these queries, ":1" is a CLOB that is created and filled from Java using the CLOB object. We use XML decomposition into object-relational tables via a registered schema.
The error occurs sporadically in roughly 5% percent of the calls and we could not construct a testcase which reproduces it in a deterministic way.
Thank you in advance,
Christoph Bock
Did you get any additional hints from your development colleagues? We still don't have any clear idea about how to solve the problem. Our current workaround is to repeat any failed query until it succeeds. Typically, one or two repetitions will do the job, but this workaround is obviously very ugly and may well give rise to infinite loops (as we don't understand the cause of the sporadic errors).
Thank you and best regards,
Christoph Bock

Hi all,
I need one help. In our one schema we have design like one temp and one parmanent table. The parmanent table is partition and we are used to exchange this partition with temporary table.
It was working fine but since last many days we are facing a issue that while exchanging the table partition or coz some activity the table get courrepted and get the following error
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [ktsircinfo_num1], [24], [2],
[49317], [], [], [], []
Can anyone help us out. Any suggetion is greatful.
ThanksIt was working fine but since last many days we are facing a issueReview the changes that might have happened to the server in those past few days. OS upgrade, OS move, Oracle upgrade, post installation steps unsuccessful/not completed could be some of the many reasons, among others that Oracle support will identify when you open a SR, as suggested above.

hello,
I have a table with 7 columns, 6 columns are of datatype of VARCHAR2/DATE/NUMBER, one column is of datatype SYS.XMLTYPE.
I am trying to insert one record into the table. The insert script is as below:
INSERT INTO t1
VALUES (234556789,1045,0,SYSDATE,SYSDATE,'SYSTEM',XMLTYPE('<GSL>300</GSL>'));
There are no garbage characters in the above insert statement.
When I run this script on UNIX I get the error below:
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [17177], [0x000000000], [], [], [],
ORA-31011: XML parsing failed
ORA-06512: at "SYS.XMLTYPE", line 0
ORA-06512: at line 1
I verified the ora 31011 which says
31011, 00000, "XML parsing failed"
// *Cause: XML parser returned an error while trying to parse the document.
// *Action: Check if the document to be parsed is valid.
But the xml document is a valid document. The same insert script works on an NT machine without any errors.
The version of oracle on unix is 9.2.0.3.0.
The characterset is UTF8
I fired the query below to verify:
SQL> select substr(dbms_java.longname(object_name),1,35) as class, status
from all_o 2 bjects
where obj 3 ect_type = 'JAVA CLASS'
and obje 4 ct_name = dbms_java.shortname('oracle/xml/parser/v2/DOMParser');
CLASS
STATUS
oracle/xml/parser/v2/DOMParser
VALID
Is there any setting (enviroment or any other setting ) needed on UNIX to be able to successfully insert this record in the table. What are the steps I need to do to insert this record
The problems seems to be in XML insert. Can anyone help pls ASAP.
thanks
aananthHi,
the bitmap parameter disables the use of bitmap plans for tables w. only B-tree indexes. This will cause a performance problem in a DWH. So I would prefer to change the optimzer mode. The optimizer than uses a mix of costs and heuristics to find a best plan for fast delivery of the first few rows. This will not produce so much problems.

Use SQL*Plus to execute SQL, PL/SQL and SQL*Plus statements.
Usage 1: sqlplus -H | -V
-H Displays the SQL*Plus version and the
usage help.
-V Displays the SQL*Plus version.
Usage 2: sqlplus [ [<option>] [<logon>] [<start>] ]
<option> is: [-C <version>] [-L] [-M "<options>"] [-R <level>] [-S]
-C <version> Sets the compatibility of affected commands to the
version specified by <version>. The version has
the form "x.y[.z]". For example, -C 10.2.0
-F Enables the failover mode for a RAC environment.
-L Attempts to log on just once, instead of
reprompting on error.
-M "<options>" Sets automatic HTML markup of output. The options
have the form:
HTML [ON|OFF] [HEAD text] [BODY text] [TABLE text]
[ENTMAP {ON|OFF}] [SPOOL {ON|OFF}] [PRE[FORMAT] {ON|OFF}]
-R <level> Sets restricted mode to disable SQL*Plus commands
that interact with the file system. The level can
be 1, 2 or 3. The most restrictive is -R 3 which
disables all user commands interacting with the
file system.
-S Sets silent mode which suppresses the display of
the SQL*Plus banner, prompts, and echoing of
commands.
<logon> is: (<username>[/<password>][@<connect_identifier>] | /)
[AS SYSDBA | AS SYSOPER | AS SYSASM] | /NOLOG | [EDITION=value]
Specifies the database account username, password and connect
identifier for the database connection. Without a connect
identifier, SQL*Plus connects to the default database.
The AS SYSDBA, AS SYSOPER and AS SYSASM options are database
administration privileges.
<connect_identifier> can be in the form of Net Service Name
or Easy Connect.
@[<net_service_name> | [//]Host[:Port]/<service_name>]
<net_service_name> is a simple name for a service that resolves
to a connect descriptor.
Example: Connect to database using Net Service Name and the
database net service name is ORCL.
sqlplus myusername/mypassword@ORCL
Host specifies the host name or IP address of the database
server computer.
Port specifies the listening port on the database server.
<service_name> specifies the service name of the database you
want to access.
Example: Connect to database using Easy Connect and the
Service name is ORCL.
sqlplus myusername/mypassword@Host/ORCL
The /NOLOG option starts SQL*Plus without connecting to a
database.
The EDITION specifies the value for Application
Edition
<start> is: @<URL>|<filename>[.<ext>] [<parameter> ...]
Runs the specified SQL*Plus script from a web server (URL) or the
local file system (filename.ext) with specified parameters that
will be assigned to substitution variables in the script.
When SQL*Plus starts, and after CONNECT commands, the site profile
(e.g. $ORACLE_HOME/sqlplus/admin/glogin.sql) and the user profile
(e.g. login.sql in the working directory) are run. The files may
contain SQL*Plus commands.
Refer to the SQL*Plus User's Guide and Reference for more information.

Hi All,
I am getting the error "Err#-600 msg ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [4000], [7089]" while running a package. Could not able to get detailed info on this. Please someone help in resolving the above error.

ORA-00600: internal error code while drop package !
Friends ,
I am using oracle 10g in Oracle Ent Linux 5.0 . Now I want to drop a user , when I give the 'drop user' command I got the below error :
SQL> drop user user cascade;
drop user user cascade
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [psdtyfnd_with_suffix], [], [], [],
Then I try to manually drop all the object of the specified schema . All objects are dropped except a 'PACKAGE' . When I manually drop that PACKAGE
again then I found the above error again . Now I am sure that this 'package' is the main culprit .
Now would anyone please help me how I drop this package manually ?Hi,
Glad to know that its solved.
The cause of this issue is not known. It is believed that importing into a database where these pipelined functions already exist may be the cause, but testing has failed to reproduce the problem.
In one of the bugs logged for a similar issue, problem will normally happen only on upgrade and not under regular running of the DB. Therefore, it should be of relatively low impact to the real users. Also, Upgrading to 11g you shouldn't encounter this problem.

I saw the following at http://oracledocs.shu.ac.uk/local/personalOracleInstallation/w2k-10g/readme.101/README_rdbms.htm
"Bug 3392439
Row Access Method problem: DML statements may fail with ORA-00600 [kcbget_24], ORA-00600 [kcbgtcr_5], or ORA-00600 [kcbgcur_3] error messages. The DML on an Index-Organized Table (IOT) that has one or more secondary index may fail with ORA-00600, fail with an access violation, or it may cause modification of rows in objects that are not associated with the target IOT.
Workaround:
Set hidden parameter _db_cache_pre_warm to false in init.ora to avoid pre-warming behavior in buffer cache. Alternatively, use ALTER SYSTEM FLUSH BUFFER_CACHE."
Even though my tables are not index organized, the bug seems related to my problem since the "ALTER SYSTEM FLUSH BUFFER_CACHE' provides a temporary fix. It's not a permanent fix because the ORA-600 error reappears in later operations.
For a permanent fix I tried setting the hidden parameter mentioned, but it wouldn't take.

ERROR at line 1:
ORA-02095: specified initialization parameter cannot be modifiedAny ideas on how I can fix the problem?Looks like I spoke too soon. The error is back.
The problem might be related to a foreign key to an index organized table (IOT) that SSCM_CONTENT has. I converted the IOT to a regular table and was then able to perform the INSERT without receiving the ORA-00600. Let's hope it's gone for good.
I sure would like to be able to use IOT's on Oracle XE though. I'd appreciate hearing if there are any workarounds or fixes other than the two already mentioned. -

I solved my problem.
See the following Scenario ( Sorry , it long code but may help you ),,
*1- Build the repair table by using the ADMIN_TABLES procedure*
BEGIN
DBMS_REPAIR.ADMIN_TABLES
( table_name => 'REPAIR_problem' ,
table_type => DBMS_REPAIR.REPAIR_TABLE ,
action => DBMS_REPAIR.CREATE_ACTION ,
tablespace => 'SYSTEM' );
END;
NOTE:- table_name MUST START WITH ( REPAIR_ ) *** REPAIR MUST BE CAPITAL
2 - SET SERVEROUTPUT ON

BEGIN
num_corrupt := 0;
DBMS_REPAIR.CHECK_OBJECT
( schema_name => 'SYS' ,
object_name => 'LOGMNRT_TS$' ,
repair_table_name => 'REPAIR_problem' ,

END;
I faced here ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [ktsircinfo_num1], [2147483647],
Solution: I found that tablespace_name for LOGMNRT_TS table is null.
So, i entered another table_name but the tablespace_name for it is not null
It created successfully.

There is an ora-0600 lookup tool on MOS where you can feed it some arguements from your specific error and see if anything comes up. But you'll still need an MOS account, either way.

INTERESTING: ORA-00600: internal error code,
Here is the scenario:
DB1 = 11.2.0.1.0 Linux 5
DB2 = 11.2.0.1.0 Linux 5
Init.ora on DB1 and DB2 are exactly the same.
On DB1, I run this and get ORA-600:
select distinct i.short_desc,c.short_desc, c.long_desc
from pace_masterdbo.codes c, pace_masterdbo.code_values cv, pace_masterdbo.interfaces i
where C.INSTANCE=CV.CODE_INST
and CV.INTFC_INST=I.INSTANCE 2 3 4
5 /
from pace_masterdbo.codes c, pace_masterdbo.code_values cv, pace_masterdbo.interfaces i
ERROR at line 2:
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [qkaffsindex5], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], []
On DB2, with the same configuration and exact init.ora parameters it works without issue.
Now on DB1 if I change the following, it works fine, wondering what's going on.
alter session set "_optimizer_cost_based_transformation" =off;
Session altered.
select distinct i.short_desc,c.short_desc, c.long_desc
from pace_masterdbo.codes c, pace_masterdbo.code_values cv, pace_masterdbo.interfaces i
where C.INSTANCE=CV.CODE_INST
and CV.INTFC_INST=I.INSTANCE 2 3 4
5 /
NOW WORKS FINE.. ANY IDEA???
Thanks in Advance..

Hi
I am getting following error while issuing below query on production DB server.
Please help me out.
select * from ss_ntl_other_inc_det where ntl_seq_no=4071205129
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [4000], [13824], [], [], [], [], [],
Thanks and Regards....theres an ora600 lookup tool which helios posted. Always hit this first. maybe someone made a change that needs to be reversed? could find it in seconds with the 600 lookup tool. Always, always, always lookup that tool first. If it doesnt help only THEN log an SR.
If the error is found in 600 lookup tool, the support engineer would only point you at that anyway which means you wasted minutes or even hours logging the call and waiting for the engineer to come back.
I was on support anyway so had a look and that error is in the 600 lookup tool. OP, look it up. -
Error ORA-00600 internal error code during compilation of forms 6i
Hi Dears:
I have recently migrated my Oracle 9i database to Oracle 10g(10.2.0.2). Now when I recompile any of my 6i forms, the error occurs as below:
ORA-00600 internal error code, arguments: [17069], [60658452], [ ], [ ], [ ], [ ], [ ],
NOTE:
1. queries run fine in SQL Plus.
2. Already compiled forms (fmx) run fine.
Please help me to resolve the problem.
InayatqaziHi
u should specify what u were trying to do while getting this object.
u need to install the latest Forms 6i path 17 to fit for the new db 10g.
if u have access to MetaLink there u can down load it easily...
if u have a db link then i suggest creating a view or public synonym and give the user all the privilages require on the new db connected to form 6i while connecting or accessing to previous user with old db.
Hope this help
Regards,
Amatu Allah.
