Does anyone know where i can purchase the ipod nike sport kit, i am away from home and there is no apple store close by, can i get if from foot locker, athlete's feet, dick pond athletics, radio shack, etc.

I know in my area we can get them at any running store, but Dick's Sporting Goods has them. Sports Authority has them. Those are pretty big chain stores, they should have one local to you.

Ipod Sport Kit Only W Nano?

Does/can the Sport Kit work with other iPod models other than the Nano (I just purchased a 60 GB iPod Video)?

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
It looks as though Apple has decided that this device is not suitable for use in conjunction with it's larger hard disk based players. I suspect they don't want to deal with the fall out of failed hard disks.
I also suspect (haven't seen any stats - but the Mini was the best seller before) that the Nano is a very high seller compared to the 5G so they're targeting a market.
Apple has only built the Nike+ technology in to the firmware updates for the Nano so on this occasion you lucked out. I suggest you load up a few videos to watch and make us all jealous!

Ipod classic and nike sports kit

hi,
can anyone tell me if the ipod classic is compatible with the nike sports kit, importantly if its not why not?
i spent a considerable amount of money purchasing what i thought was a premium product and it would now appear that it will not even support something that a cheaper ipod (nano) will, how can this be so?

The iPod classic is not compatible with the iPod sport kit, likely because its hard drive is much more vulnerable to being dropped than an iPod nano's flash media.

Does 6th Gen iPod Nano need the Nike + Sports Kit?

I have the Nike+ sensor with my Sports Band. To use it with the new 6th Gen Nano, do I have to get the sports kit? Or is this feature built in like the iPhone 3GS and 4? The attachment to the new nano will make the form factor ugly.

As cocon said, you will need the receiver. Here are some of the references...
Based on the iPod nano Specifications page it looks like you will need the Nike + iPod Sport Kit (with the receiver) for the new nano.
From the bottom of that page, under "Which iPod are you?" it says, "Nike + iPod support".
Compare that to the iPod touch which says, " Nike + iPod support built in".
Also, from Rock and Run
"Then connect the receiver to your iPod nano. iPod touch, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 4 include built-in support for Nike + iPod, so no receiver is necessary."
Note it does have a built in pedometer, and based on the Features page you can upload that to the Nike+ website. Not sure if that's enough for you.

How can you tell new sport kit from old?

What is the model # of the new ipod sport kit? I have seen MA365LL online, but I see NA0001 at stores. Which is the new one vs old?. Packaging seems the same.

I am thinking of using the Nike+ sports kit to track the stats on Golf...any other users out there thought about or are using it for this...??

If calibrated for walking it could show interesting results. Someone has already tried playing football with it (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=574291) and found that they ran miles in a match!

How do I get podcasts to show up as a selection on Sports kit?

I have a new Sports kit I'm using with my g3 nano. I can select/run with my current playlists BUT NOT my podcasts for some very strange reason. Any ideas how to get this to show up on my playlists? Note: This does not happen when I am using the Nano without the Sports Kit.

Are you saying you have made a new playlist and added the podcasts to the playlists? if not then try that, if yes then maybe try changing the podcast info so its just music or something. Change the genre or something like that maybe...

Internet and Itunes with Nike + Sports kit.

Hi,
I am thinking about buying a nike+ sports kit but have just a few questions!
I have my ipod synced/itunes on a Windows Vista laptop, that has no internet.
To use nike+ sports kit do you have to have the internet on the computer which has your ipod synced to itunes?
The other computer in my houshold is a windows XP computer *with internet.*
do i need to sync my ipod/itunes onto this computer in-order to use the sports kit? Or can I use the sports kit on the computer with the internet but which is not the computer i would normally use for general ipod use (Syncing of songs etc)...? DO I need to have all of songs, itunes, internet & sports kit all *on the ONE computer?*

The Nike+ plus sports kit does support playback of Audiobooks. You need to start the audiobook before you start Nike+.

Completely Frustrated With Nike Plus Sports Kits

I've bought several Nike Plus Sports Kits recently and every single one of them has had a dead sensor in them. Either I'm buying them from retailers that have had these units on their shelves for years (ever since Nike Plus first rolled out), or there is some sort of defect with the majority of the sensors I've purchased. It's a real pain in the neck to keep having to take these kits back to where I bought them and try a different location to get a new one.
I didn't have this problem when the program first rolled out years ago (when the batteries in these units were fresh), but lately I've lost all desire to even use Nike Plus and have resorted back to a good old fashioned pedometer.
Any suggestions?

I also have just bought 1 sensor (Fnac in Italy) and it seems with a dead battery. I have tried all possible options and followed instructions to connect to the new sensor, but never made it to connect with my iPod touch (2nd gen) or iPod Nano.
I will return it tomorrow to the shop.

Can I modify the frequency of the Nike+Sport Kit Notifications?

When I set my Nike+Sport kit on the Time setting, it give me an update every 5 minutes. When running for 180 minutes, every 5 minutes tends to be very annoying. Is there a way to modify the notification setting? Say every 30 minutes instead of every 5 minutes?

After a couple of tries I think I got it now. The information that gets sent to iTunes and nikeplus.com is right, yet -- on the iPod nano itself window --, although the time and pace are correct (in History), the distance is not.
I'll check this out at the nike site but their discussion groups are not so good.

No.

Only those iPods contain the firmware needed to use it, likely because iPods with a hard drive such as the iPod classic are much more vulnerable to drops and other hard impacts than iPods which use flash media.

My husband and i both have our own ipods. He has a Sport kit, but i don't. Before I buy one, we want to know if we can use the same sensor and receiver with 2 different ipods? or will my run be calibrated under his settings?

I dont doubt your claim of 55-75 hours of usage
solely on running since january. Even though you say
that it has died prematurely with the range of hours
you give since the time you purchased the sensor.
I must ask if you were concious of turning off
the sensor when it was not in usage. You know
hitting that little button on the sensor itself to
deactivate the battery. If your answer is no that you
never remembered to turn off this sensor then. Your
idea that it has died prematurely is bad. Because
without physically turning off the sensor itself
(thats the portion in the sole of the shoe) then it
has been on 24/7 since you purchased it in january.
Now if you have remembered to turn off the sensor
after each run then it might have died prematurely.
IF thats the case I would contact apple or the place
from which you purchased it and ask for some help
regarding the sensor.

Umm, no: From the FAQ
"The sensor’s battery has a life of more than 1000 active hours. The sensor has a sophisticated built-in power management system which means that the sensor really only consumes power when active (that is, when it senses motion)."
Mine is now showing the low battery indicator at 277 hours. I'm not the only one with premature battery failure.
