Spotify Android App Always Offline

Spotify only ever reports me as Offline using the Android app. I know I have an active internet connection on the device (The Transformer TF101 if you're interested), so that's not the problem. I can (sort of) solve the issue by reinstalling Spotify. But that solution only works for about 5 minutes, and then the Spotify app reports me as offline again.
This is the primary reason that I upgraded to Spotify Premium, so unless the app is fixed in the very near future, or I receive some sort of compensation, I'm going to have to drop Spotify Premium from my account.
P.S.: I have Spotify Desktop connected to teh same wi-fi that the Android device is connected to, and I have no problems with it.

I don't even know what a transformer prime is, and my spotify is stuck in offline mode more often than not.... like right now for example. it appears that spotify on android is completely broken, really not worth paying for and there arent even any vague reassuring noises from developers about it getting fixed soon, let alone actual evidence. Had there been even a message unspecifically promising some fixes next month or whatever, I probably would have sucked it up and kept paying -- but since even that seems too much to ask  I have just cancelled my premium subscription and will definitely advise everyone else considering it I know that this 'service' is not worth paying for at present.  Perhaps when I see an updated client and this forum is full of something other than unanimous complaints that it doesn't work and unanimous silence from the company, i will start paying that extra fiver/month again.

  • What is the best android app for OFFLINE voice commands (offline - not "Ok Google")?

Hi, I'm looking for a good app that allows you to assign a voice command, for example, "Call Mom" to the actions you would perform on the phone to dial Mom's phone number. I'm calling this "off-line voice commands." I do not want to have all my contacts stored on some cloud server and then let Google or something else to find it there and call the number for me. I want it all to take place internally, that is on my phone. This is sort of like recording a macro. There must be a good app that does that. Please don't give my instructions on how to use the microphone for Google to do this. You have to understand that I want to do this OFFLINE. A lot of people don't seem to understand that when you use Google for this, it's an online process. Samsung users say they have an already installed app called "S-Voice" that does this offline. It would be similar to that. Also found an app called "Utter" on the google play store, but it looks like it's in Beta. I've yet to download an app and was hoping other Xperia users found something already on the phone that does this. Oh and my Language and input setting is already set to "Default English" with speech output set to on. Thanks again. Chrissy

  • Smp 3.0 sp03 Offline Caching Issue in Android App

After I apply GET request for a URL in Android app, I use mergeEntries to update cache for entries but I realized that cache.mergeEntries method just updates server cache, not a local cache.
Also, cache.readEntriesLocal method just gives me entries that are added by cache.addEntry(entry)
Is there any way to fill up local cache with all server entries after GET request ?

    Hi Jitendra,
Thanks for your answer. However we are not using Kapsel in our Android app. We just try to develop native OData application that supports both online and offline mode. Thats why we follow these steps http://help.sap.com/saphelp_smp303sdk/helpdata/en/7c/0b0f9070061014a7b1c78f0f331130/content.htm?frameset=/en/7c/0af4ce70061014beb082150f67fcba/frameset.htm&current_toc=/en/7c/01cda6700610149b10c2f2a86d335b/plain.htm&node_id=29
How can local cache be filled up with all server entries because cache.readEntriesLocal method just returns entries which are added to local cache. I mean local cache needs a method like mergeEntries to update local cache entries as well after GET operation.
Here you can see part of our code. While entries_server param has 11 entries, entries local has just 1 entry. We want to put all 11 entries in local cache too.
    IODataFeed feed = parser.parseODataFeed(responseString, "ZmbSGroupSet('GRUP_1')/Members", schema);
    cache.mergeEntries(feed, Global.getAppEndPoint() + "ZmbSGroupSet('GRUP_1')/Members");
    Entries_server = cache.readEntriesServer(Global.getAppEndPoint() + "ZmbSGroupSet('GRUP_1')/Members");
    Entries_local = cache.readEntriesLocal("ZmbSGroupSet('GRUP_1')/Members", null);

  • PhoneGap Dreamweaver CS5.5 Android App Fail

I am attempting the to create an Android app using Dreamweaver CS 5.5 and PhoneGap. The build always fails with the following message at the end of the error log:

I was told by Adobe that this feature was not supported and that I needed to seek help here. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I have the 64 bit version of 6.27 JDK installed and the latest Android SDK. I have successfullt created an app using PhoneGap directly through the command line. the Android SDK also doesn't like some of the config and build files created by Dw when I try to install the application files. It will still work, it just complains. I have also made sure that the emulator is up and running before running the build command in Dw.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Today I follwed David Powers tutorial about creating an app by Phonegap from DW CS5_5.
It is in the book: Studio Techniques. De iPhone app created worked as it should in the simulator. The Android version didn't show the map it should show in the emulator.
Because creating the Android SDK by DW failed I installed it myself. Dw tried to install an linux version of Phonegap on my Mac. (Something the DW team should look after!). After installing and following David Powers instructions it worked as descripted above.
It takes a little time to get used to the Android SDK and besides that it behaves terribly slow.
I cannot help you any further but I want to let you what I experienced myself up to now.

  • Dreamweaver CS5.5 Android App development question

I am wondering id it is possible to debug an android app over usb debuging. I have the emulator but it's slow and i'd rather debug on my phone but i didn't know if it's possible to push the build on the the phone vs the emulator

First, let me just say from a word of caution that you should ALWAYS debug in a controlled environment before pushing to an actual device. And with Android devices, they can vary from build-to-build and from manufacturer to manufacturer.  It is not always as simple as an iOS or desktop OS development for that reason since the hardware and network dictate more than the OS manufacturer.
Now that the obvious is out of the way you can package up the android app and then transfer the package to your phone for further testing.  Dreamweaver only signs the apps with the debug certificate.  So with that package you should be able to install it on your device.  In order to sign it for distribution and get it into the Google Market you must follow the steps laid out from the Google Developer site: http://developer.android.com/guide/publishing/app-signing.html .

  • Spotify Desktop app 1.0.7

    Spotify Desktop app 1.0.7
Last week we started rolling out the 1.0.7 update of the Spotify Desktop app. We wanted to highlight the ideas we've implemented from the Community, as well as new features you'll find in this release.
    Implemented Ideas:
This feature was implemented after reading your feedback here in the Community.  Thank you for continuing to provide comments and continue the discussion around what you want to see in Spotify:
    1. On Windows, the corner X button can close or minimise Spotify. Choose which setting you prefer in your Preferences.
Just go to your Preferences and click Advanced Settings.
You'll then see the option to turn on the option Close button should minimize the Spotify window to the Tray.
    New Desktop features:
    2. Making a collaborative playlist in 1280x800 resolution? Excellent. Now you can see who's added songs in the User column.
    3. The option "Create Playlist" is in playlist context menus to allow you quickly create a playlist from a right-click.
    4. Click the Lyrics, Messages and Play Queue buttons once to view then once again to back.
    5. We've improved the algorithm for playlist sorting.
Keep bringing us your feedback. We're listening.
We are always bringing your feedback posted here in the Spotify Community back to headquarters. Please keep bringing your ideas to the Community's Idea Exchange so we can be sure your voice is heard.
    spotify:track:4R8FC9x6bhsB8yDi2TfWnW

Thanks for reimplementing the feature to minimise to system tray upon close.
The problem now is that it doesn't show the current track on hover of the system tray icon. This is how Spotify used to work so please reimplement this feature too.
EDIT: Also reimplement the other feature in the tray icon when right-clicking (pause, next, previous).

  • Can I connect to an OracleDB via an Android app?

    Hi,
I originally resurrected an old long-finished forum thread and attempted to hijack it away for my own issue but a kind forum moderator has split my question away so that it might stand on its own merits (or not). I'll try to remember for the future that if I have a question, I should always make my own new forum post.
    That thread was ...
Exception when connecting to an OracleDB via an Android app
Is that possible to connect to other DB from android. I m a trainee and I m trying to connect android with other DB's except SQLite.. if so can anyone explain 1. how to do that, and
2.what are the DB's can be connected with android...
3.What is the concept behind to work it out...
pls explain it a bit detail, as i m learning it would be easier for me to understand the concepts in better way.

Same as what I said in the other thread.
Either there is an IP stack or there isn't.
If there is then you have the same problems with IP stacks as with a desktop in that it must have connectivity from the client to the database. Other than that you just use a JDBC (java only) driver.
If there is no IP stack then you MUST look for another solution or look into creating your own solution (if possible.)

ever since the ios8 updates i cant do calls when i need to or when someone tries to call me or facetime me i would try to accept and it would say connecting or end it. like *** it screwed up my phone. and my apps always crash

The process may vary among phones, but on the Bionic:
    Power down phone
Hold volume up/down & power simultaneously
Use volume down to navigate to 'Recovery', use volume up to select
Should see screen with triangle and exclamation point next to an Android
    Press volume up/down simultaneously
Use volume rocker to navigate to 'wipe cache' and use power button to select
Once finished, use volume rocker to navigate to 'reboot system now' and use power button to select

  • Android app release lag

I get that there is certain pressure due to Apple music to get iOS functions out as soon as possible, but why am I starting to feel that all andoid users are being left waiting due to this? Spotify has released a number functions, including Running, on iOS a good two months ago already and their dates are still TBA on the Android app.
Now I am aware of the beta version for android that does have the functions (I wasn't fast enough to join the beta, of course), but that isn't much comfort for a paying customer having the negative side effect of preferrential prioritisation(?).Can spotify at least give a small peace of mind and announce the release date of the functions so I can consider if it's worth paying full price for only a portion of the full service?

Anbody know if the new release of AIR 3.2 will fix this problem. Or if there is an alternative solution?

  • Can android apps see Blackberry Remember notes/task??

    Hi,
Can android apps see Blackberry Remember notes/tasks?
The app in question is a grasshopper phone app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grasshopper.dialer&hl=en)
and it requests access to the phone (obviously), contacts, shared files and device / identifying information.
My device is encrypted if it makes a difference
    Thanks
    B

Android apps were made easy by RIM to convert and 'sign' by the developers so the apps can run on the PlayBook. I assume RIM checks them for compatibility and quality.  So some of the apps you may see on the App Store are actually converted apps. There is no designation as such.
Android apps use a different file format from the PlayBook, so you can't just load an Android app into the PB and expect it to run. RIM's operating system runs apps in bar file format.
Yes, you can reinstall apps you reinstall. Go to App World / My World and you will see all your apps installed and uninstalled. You can always reinstall uninstalled apps.
I love my Playbook. Spend a little time with it and you will love it to. Also this is a good board to find help of needed.

  • Blackberry 10: Android App should be 100% compatible

    Hi Spotify,
With the recent announcement that newer Blackberry 10 OS versions will come with the Amazon App Store pre-installed. Can Spotify dedicate a couple of resources to test the Amazon version of the Spotify app to work on BB10 devices?
I understand that you don't want to dedicate resources to develop a native Blackberry app - but with this announcement, YOU DON'T HAVE TO! :) Just insure your ANDROID app is tested and works on BB10 devices... that's all.
With the roll out of Spotify in Canada, you'll find that Blackberry is still alive and kicking up here in the great white north. I for one love my BB10 device; switched from an iPhone after 5 years and will never go back.
    Thanks!
    Martin

Here's my two cents on Spotify for BlackBerry.
I have been a paying user for quite some time and I absolutely love listening to Spotify on my Blackberry z30. Running OS 10.2.1.
Everything pretty much works perfectly, except the fact that sometimes when I skip a song it double skips.
Now an android version of spotify capable of running from the Amazon store will basically require removal of Google play services dependencies. This will not only give Spotify access to the second biggest android market (Amazon) but to the whole Blackberry market as well. This I believe has been mentioned by Teslatradeup but I'll do so again either way. Blackberry OS10 has the capability of running android apps excellently and just recently it came together with Amazon to exploit such capabilities. Now an official android port from Spotify would be amazing don't get me wrong but based on public feedback, the majority of Blackberry users would prefer is a native Cascade based Spotify app.
You see developers for Blackberry also have the option to develop native applications rather than Android ports. These are overwhelmingly preferred throughout the multiple BlackBerry communities I have been involved with. They not only run smoother but are safer and usually the number one choice when looking for an app.
Now Blackberry in other parts of the world like the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia still hold a very good chunk of the market over Apple, Android and Windows Phone.
Point being if a native Spotify app has been developed for Windows phone doesn't it make sense to go forward and build a native one for BlackBerry as well?
Think of the unlimited potential and all the increased revenue from an increased audience. Think BlackBerry and I assure you won't regret developing for it.
Thank you for your time and have a great day.
PD; please fix the Facebook login option for the windows phone app. Please do not bring that problem for the Blackberry app. :)

  • App always hangs on Windows phone

Hi, the app ALWAYS hangs on windows phone, especially when switching between apps, other times it just crashes. I have a 50/50 chance that something goes wrong when trying to change song or jump back into Spotify when playing.

Which version of the LiveSDK are you currently using?

But Nokia X not a Android phone but android apps very good working
    Solved!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I recommend you reload your OS via AutoLoader, to the most recent version just released Friday (10.3.1.2558):
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-OS-Device-Software/Upgrading-OS10-devices-using...
Be sure you take a full backup prior, and perhaps even use Ultimate Backup...sometimes LINK won't restore everything properly, so it depends on how critical your data is that is strictly on the device (e.g., SMS).
Also, please remember that OS versions are always 4 octets, not 3...and there can be tremendous differences.
Good luck and let us know!
