Spotify Connect windows client disappearing

Dear all, Is there any issues with spotify connect dissapearing after a while of inactivity ? I am trying to stream spotify to hifi system via a HTPC ( running windows server 2012 ) .Everything is working fine when the app on the server is freshly run , it is visible via various clients ( android phones and windows laptops and PC ) .Unfortunately after some period of inactivity the server't spotify connect disappears from the rest of the network and I have to log-in to the server remotely and restart spotify. During this time, the app is useable on the server and can play files locally but it is not accessible from other clients. This happens quite often, for instance if I try to connect the next day .. This is very annoying as it destroys the whole idea of headless client for streaming the music. Has anyone experienced this and is there any solution / fix for this ? Thank you very much in advance.

Alright, I'm back, sorry it took a while. I seem to have solve the problem on my HTPC. And it seems to be related to my Onkyo TX-NR509 receiver that I have an old Thinkpad (HTPC) connected to with a displayport to HDMI cable. This combo will make the computer act up in different ways since the receiver has a built in HDMI switch (one HDMI out, four HDMI in). If I for example have any audio playing on the computer with the TV turned on (driven by the receiver's HDMI out port) and then turn off the TV, the audio will disappear for a few seconds. If I have been playing music with the TV turned off and then go to turn on the TV, Spotify will show an error bar saying something went wrong. I then have to restart Spotify to make it work again. The problem triggering the Spotify Connect issue for me seems to be that if my receiver has been turned off for a while (the HTPC is always turned on with Spotify running), Spotify stops broadcast as a Connect client.I often turn off the receiver when I leave for work and during the night, and it's always after that I want to play music most of the times. I come home or get up out of bed on the weekend, turn on the receiver and find that Spotify Connect isn't working. I can turn on the TV and start the music no problem and if I restart the Spotify client, Connect starts working again. I've now left the receiver turned on during the night and when I'm at work, and since then I've been able to whip out my phone and start music on the HTPC when I get home/out of bed. I have set up the Windows power saving settings to turn off the display after a certain period of time so I have to touch the HTPC mouse before I can start Spotify Connect, but that is a personal choice. As I said before I have also made Windows Firewall exceptions for the Spotify client and I have also changed the the properties of the Ethernet network card so it won't be turned off to save power.Device Manager -> *right click on Ethernet card* -> Properties -> Power Management tab -> *uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power* Note that this option will not be available on all networks adapters.I also don't know if the firewall and power saving option has anything to do with me solving my problem. I think it's the receiver/computer combo that's causing it, but it could be two valid troubleshooting steps for anyone having the same problem. I would start to focus on the receiver though. Hope this can help someone else in this situation.

I don't know what I can do to trouble shout, I hope next release 10.6.3 come soon and correct about all SMB problem ! Probably a dream only ! Since I ask my self if Apple want to correct something andwhy is this problem let without solutionso long ! For a company it is a big problem.I suppose that Apple never read this forum and never answer our problem ! May be I should contact the support phone to be helped !

  • Windows client intermittent connection to PEAP WIFI backed off to ISE 1.2 wildcard cert

I am setting up a topology whwere for the first time I am deplying ISE with a wildcard certificate.  This is on ISE 1.2 patch 6, WLC's running 7.6 and Windows 7 clients in AD.  The ISE policy is just to match on machine auth.
The setting up of the wildcard cert went ok as guided by the CCO ISE 1.2 deployment/cfg guide.
When it came to testing the client auth as always I start off with the PEAP settings of Validate server certificate off, just to confirm the WLC and ISE are playing ball.  They were, the auth passed.
I then tick the Validate server certificate, make sure the CA (Windows AD) is in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities.  Retest and the client passes.
If I then disconnect the wifi and reconnect, either manually or by doing a reboot, the next authenticaiton fails, but nothing has changed.  ISE reports that my Windows client rejected the server certificate.  Which is odd as it just accepted it.
If I untick the validate the client passes, if i tick it again it will authenticate fine, once.  The next connection it will fail again with the client rejecting ISE.
    Anyone got any ideas?

I have had a similar issue consistently with 1.2 on both pathc 5 and 6 (not sure about earlier one). Basically what I am seeing is the client rejecting the Server cert when validate is unticked. Most of the time the client connects just fine a few seconds later but some clients need a reboot to fix it. As a rule I put this down to client issue but not 100% sure some times.

    Problem:
I have a BOE XI Release 2 installed on a server and if I try to connect via WEB everything is perfect but when I try to connect using windows clients (Designer, DESKiu2026)
I am getting the following error:
" No se puede acceder al repositorio. (USR0013)"
u201C[repo_proxy 13] SessionFacade::openSessionLogon with user info has failed(Error en el transporte: Fallo en la comunicación.(hr=#0x80042a01)u201D
I'm using the standard port which is the 6400.
    I hope your comments.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Are you using any authentication ?
If you are using LDAP, then try this...
    Symptom
Error logging onto Desktop Intelligence or Designer using LDAP authentication:
"(USR0013) [repo_proxy 13] SessionFacade::openSessionLogon with user info has failed (The LDAP authentication could not log you on.) Verify your logon information. If your account is under a different domain as o=u2026, please enter your dn (hr=#0x80042a01)."
    Reproducing the Issue
    Configure LDAP authentication
Error appears from a client computer running Desktop Intelligence or Designer
Logon to Desktop Intelligence or Designer on the server works
    Cause
LDAP authentication from the client connects directly to the LDAP directory without passing the CMS
The server has been configured on the firewall, but not the client computer
    Resolution
Configure the firewall for the client machines to pass, so that they can reach the LDAP directory

  • RV110W drops PPTP connections from a Windows client (MS CHAP v2 and MPPE)

This might be a tough problem to diagnose. I am trying to setup an RV100W for an office gateway with VPN access using PPTP. The office is located in another state, so I'm trying to do a "dry run" from home by setting up the RV110W on the local network. That is, my home network is 192.168.0.0 and I have assigned the RV110W a static IP address of 192.168.0.120 on its WAN side and a DHCP NAT internal network of 192.168.1.0. Its LAN IP is 192.168.1.2 (because of legacy limitations, the 192.168.1.1 address will be reserved for another host on the actual office network) and I set up the PPTP server on 192.168.1.3 and clients in the 192.168.1.20 to 24 range. I have enabled MPPE encryption and NetBIOS over VPN (rather important to have).
At first, I couldn't login at all. I had an underscore (_) in the user names (of which I have setup all five) and after I changed that, I was able to connect from a Windows 7 x64 host on the home LAN (192.168.0.132). I don't know if that was the problem as I got disconnected and reconnecting was a hit-or-miss - sometimes it would work, sometimes - it wouldn't. Below is the log from the session, showing the reasons for the disconnection. When I try to connect and it gets rejected, otherwise, the reason is the same: protocol not available.
But, first - here's the kicker. I had the exact same experience earlier with a DD-WRT router. I thought the problem lied with the amateurish firmware and that's why I decided to get the Cisco, but it seems like this might not be the problem, after all. Here is that discussion for full details: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=149951&highlight= (to see all of the attached images and logs, you'll need an account). Briefly, with the same setup, I can establish a stable VPN connection from four Windows XP clients and one Windows 7 client, but I get the problems with two other Windows 7 clients. The Win7 clients that give me trouble can connect just fine to other PPTP VPN servers (with the built-in Microsoft PPTP client) and all three Win7 machines are clones of each other (only the hardware is different). No software firewalls, anti-virus/malware, user-permission limitations (e.g., UAC), or anything that could hamper the connections, are present on either machine.
I don't see how the fact that the RV110W is on a LAN and not exposed to the Internet on its WAN side could cause any trouble, but even then - why some clients work fine and others - not? I would appreciate any help with this issue.
    Kamen
This is the log from the session, showing the connection of the VPN client and then, not two minutes later, the disconnection.

Update: things are getting even weirder. In short - it seems to be working now (on the next day) without anything changing. First thing I did was just try another desperate tweak - I disabled the LCP extensions on the Windows client, which I've done before. It connected and stayed that way. Then, I reverted that setting back to exactly how it was before and connected again - no problems: it stayed connected for an hour (before I disconnected so I can connect to the real VPN), I could access a test-PC on the private network (a single machine just for the test) and do different tasks (resolve host names, browse UNC paths, copy files, Remote Desktop to it, etc.)
I hate it when things happen, for which there is no explanation. I couldn't be confident sending this to the main office to replace the existing router (hardware) and VPN server (implemented in software on a Windows 2003 server). Any thoughts?
    Kamen
P.S. I'm attaching the logs from the successful session in case someone wants to compare them, but they seems quite identical (some different ConfAck / ConfNak  sequences, but that doesn't seem to make much difference).

  • Connecting windows xp pro clients to OS X Server 10.5

Hello, I hope I'm posting to the right place. I'm a newbie to Apple and I have a new Xserve that I need XP pro client machines to connect to. Nothing fancy, just need to be able to store files on the Xserve and print to printer(s) from my windows xp pro clients. I'm looking for a step-by-step procedure for this. The server is simple, there is currently no raid setup - just one hard drive that I would like to store files on from the windows clients. Not looking for this to be an application server or an internet server, just a central location to store files and possibly share printers. I don't really even need the Xserve to authenticate xp client logins or users. I just want to be able to connect to it and read/write files to it.
Thank you so much for any help you can give me!!

I was able to follow the instructions till I got to step 3. Under the Settings tab there is no Services tab at all so I can't find the SMB checkbox.
However, on the left list there is a Windows listing and when I look at it and look under one of the tabs (forgot which one) there is an SMB checkbox for Windows sharing and it is checked along with a few other check boxes and the Guest setting is also checked.
Is that enough or is there something else I'm missing?
BTW, I was wrong on the OS X Server version on the Xserve. It's version 10.4.1.1.
    Thanks a bunch

I can connect via either of the VIP's fqdn from the client, but cannot connect via the SCAN fqdn
    Thanks

    Hi,
I dont know if this solve your problem.
The SCAN IP and VIP IP work together.
The connection of clients to the database is not established by SCAN IP but by VIP IP.
When a SCAN Listener (SCAN VIP) receives a connection request, the SCAN Listener will check for the least loaded instance providing the requested service.
It will then re-direct the connection request to the local listener on the node where the least loaded instance is running. Subsequently, the client will be given the address of the local listener.
The local listener In this context, the LOCAL_LISTENER parameter must be considered. The LOCAL_LISTENER parameter should be set to the node-VIP. If you need fully qualified domain names, ensure that LOCAL_LISTENER is set to the fully qualified domain name (e.g. node-VIP.example.com).will finally create the connection to the database instance.

  • IFolder windows client works first but fails on 2nd connect

    Hello,
this is a strange phenomenon. I installed iFolder server 3.8 on Ubuntu 10.04 as described in
    http://www.x2b4.com/howto/how-to-install-ifolder-on-ubuntu-server (install from RPM).
Web access works fine from Linux and Windows. The windows client works totally fine initially, it connects, creates folders, synchronizes. But if I hit disconnect in the iFolder window and then try to connect again, the application crashes. On starting it again connection takes forever, asks for a password, and then crashes before the iFolder window appears. Next time I start, the iFolder window appears but at the next (automatic) synchronization connecting fails again.
What went wrong in between the initial configuration of the client and the next connection to the server????
    Thanks for any ideas
    Jan

    hello
    ia have the same problem.
    have you solved it ?

But if I hit disconnect in the iFolder window and then try to connect again, the application crashes. On starting it again connection takes forever, asks for a password, and then crashes before the iFolder window appears. Next time I start, the iFolder window appears but at the next (automatic) synchronization connecting fails again.
What went wrong in between the initial configuration of the client and the next connection to the server????

  • Control volume from Android to Android with Spotify Connect

Spotify Connect is great! Since some days ago we can control the Desktop App from our mobile phone or tablet, including volume control. What's still missing is volume control from Android to Android.
In this thread it is stated that this function already works, but I have several Android devices at home, and on none of these devices does volume control with Spotify Connect work. More people have this problem, see this thread. It does work from Android to PC, which is already great.
I've contacted Spotify Support, and they confirmed that volume control from mobile to mobile doesn't work at the moment.
    So, the idea is:
Please implement volume control with Spotify Connect from Android to Android!

I've been waiting for the volume control feature for a long time now. It is already supported by the Windows Desktop App. Why not on Android devices? I am using an Android TV box with the Spotify App as Spotify connect client. A great tool, but would be perfect with remote volume control. michel123 wrote:

  • DTR client disappeared. Need help!

    Hello!
We had a problem described in Can't connect to DTR. NWDS tries to connect to wrong server We resolved it by running NWDS under another Windows user. But when we tried to work with new track (ESS) we've got another issue: our DTR client for new track has been created successfully but disappeared later! Since DTR client dsappeared we cannot check-in our modifications.
I found these records in logs:

Why DTR client disappeared? How to resolve it?
    Please help.
    Our NWDS is 7.0.14
    regards, Lev

    Hello,
Since you read my thread, you already know sometimes the DTR Client configuration is not working really well.
I don't know if re-starting the NWDS could work.
Otherwise, your colleague has create an activity and check-in it, so if you want to activate pending activities and have administrator permissions, try:
    1. Log on http://<server-di>:<port-di>/devinf/main as user administrator.
    2. Go to "Component Build Service"
    3. On the top select 'Activities'
    4. Search on the right Buildspace.
    5. There are different Tabs, select "Pending Activities" and filter if needed.
    6. If there, you see the activities, you can select and 'activate' or 'activate even if build fails' it.
    7. You will upload + activate the source code of your colleague and will be able to get it when you sinchronize the DC again from another NWDS.
The last solution, would be to sinchronize the DC into another user laptop. Then override the local code of your colleague in this new DC. New activity will be ask for changes. Apply changes, check-in and activate.
    Hope it helps.
    Regards,
    David.

  • Song-Radio doesn't work over different (Spotify Connect) devices at same time (anymore)

In current Versions of the Clients (Android, Windows, Spotify Connect Device (Yamaha CD-N301)) the Song-Radio function doesn't sync the Song-Radio List* (not the playlist!) correct over different devices. For example, if I start a Song-Radio on Android, the correct screen is shown on my Android Device, but in the Windows Client, I see only "a normal playlist" without the thump up/down buttons, but with the (in Radio-Modus not allowed) back button. In the other direction (starting Song-Radio in Windows and look it on Android) it also do not work. It's possible a bug - not only that it worked in older Versions - starting a Song-Radio on Windows with a Spotify Connect Device currently being the speaker (Android or Yamaha CD-N301) results in a "working" Radio Screen in Windows, but the current playing Song isn't that shown on the Radio Screen, but the Speaker Symbol on the Song in front is shown! (see attached screenshot)Starting the Song-Radio in Windows with Windows is the Speaker works. It looks like that it works also when it's switched to another device as speaker after the Song-Radio was started with Windows as the Speaker. Starting the Song-Radio in Android Device shows the correct Song on all devices - even with other devices as the speaker - but it's not shown as Radio on Windows. Possible it's just a problem with the Windows Client - but without more devices to test, I couldn't say, and when starting the post, I noticed it while listening to my Yamaha CD-N301. *: The Radio Screen where I'm able to see the current and last played songs and where I'm allowed to like/unlike (thumb up/down) the current song, and where I'm also only allowed to forward to the next song - not go back to the last ones, so the backward arrow is missing. Well, you possible know what screen I mean - it's that one called Radio :D

  • Spotify Connect not working anymore / "Unknown" method of payment

Hey everybody, I have a problem with Spotify Connect and also my account billing. I hope this is the right section to ask since my problem is cross-platform. First of all these are the devices I use to access the Spotify services:Desktop PC running Windows 8.1 ProNexus 6 running Android 5.1Galaxy S3 running Android 4.4.4(all on the latest official version of Spotify)I have a Spotify Premium Abonnement. So far so good. My major problem is that Spotify Connect isn’t working anymore for me. This problem persists since approximately mid-October 2014 (yeah I was too lazy to post before) after I came back from a trip to Ireland. It used to work all fine before and I could control my desktop client from my phone, but now nothing. The PC doesn’t show up on the phone and the phone doesn’t show up in the desktop client. To clear things up, since the problem exists I have tried a few things to get it working:Uninstalled/reinstalled the app on the phone(s)Uninstalled/reinstalled the windows application (also tried the beta back then which is now the stable release)Further I checked the following:I am definitely on the same WI-FI network (I could also still see my phone on the Devices tab before that feature was removed)I was Premium all the way, not a short period as free user that could have potentially broken the Connect featureAnd yes I’m logged in with the same account on all devicesA (good) side-effect that I think is related to the issue:I can stream (literally stream, not using the offline feature) different tracks on multiple devices at the same time without getting the “Your account is used on another device message” like it used to be before Connect stopped working for me. I shouldn't be able to do this right? Although useful I rather have Spotify Connect backMy (maybe stupid) speculations as to why the problem exists:When I created the account back in 2013 I couldn’t log in for a long time because of system internal conflicts because of the hash at the beginning of my Spotify user name “#moritz”. I contacted the support by e-mail and like after a quarter of the year I could finally log in with my new account. Maybe the hash still causes some problems?Another theory I have or better a curiosity I noticed was, while I was in Ireland my streaming stopped because of somebody else using my account, which is absolutely impossible because the only other device I used back then was my PC which was at home – alone. And of course I never gave anyone else my log-in data. Actually quite a few odd things happened using Spotify on my Ireland trip…My second problem is rather minor and doesn’t affect me negatively. Since I subscribed to Premium back in April 2014 only my first two receipts showed my Credit Card as “Visa”. Since then it says “Unknown” as method of payment. It continued to work and charges my credit card monthly but I still find it a bit strange. I have never changed anything related to my subscription or method of payment. Any ideas why this is? I really hope my first problem can be solved somehow as I’m planning to buy Hi-Fi gear that has Spotify Connect built-in and I really want to be able to control it with my phone. With kind regards,Moritz

thanks for writing back and trying to help :) By now i already got in contact with the Spotify support team and they said they'd be looking into this. hopefully it will be sorted out soon.

  • Cisco Jabber for Windows Client SDK

Is there an SDK for Cisco Jabber for Windows client? I could only find the Web SDK. Are there no other SDKs that would let me control features of the Jabber Windows Client?

And in order to avoid TAPI limitation, they say they have started using Jabber which controls all phone functionalities through an Application User connected to the Call Manager.
Assuming they are referring to the normal Jabber for Windows/Mac/iOS/Android applications then this is wrong. Jabber - the client, not the IM&P servers which are part of the CUCM cluster (if you're familiar with Lync consider CUCM+IM&P servers a Front End Pool) - do not use an Application User at all. When a user starts Jabber, assuming SAML SSO is off, they supply an email address. This is used to find the servers via DNS SRV records, or the Mobile and Remote Access Expressway (roughly analogous to a Lync Edge pool) to tunnel through the firewall. After the email address they are prompted for their End User username and password. This is then used to access several APIs on the server, namely the User Data Service to discover what the user has. This would include what the user has configured/available to them. After this is done the Jabber client does one of three things with respect to phone functionality:
If the user has no phone devices provisioned for them - physical or software - it becomes an IM&P client only.
If the user has a software phone phone provisioned, it registers as that using SIP. In this way Jabber is the actual phone. This is called a CSF device for Jabber Windows/OS X.
If the user has a desk phone assigned to their End User account AND administrative policy is to default to desk phone control, it registers to CTI Manager on the CUCM server to control the user's physical phone.
A user can toggle between option two and three, if appropriately provisioned, but cannot have both simultaneously. In other words, Jabber is either controlling a physical phone over CTI or is a phone itself using SIP. The difference is where the audio/video media is sent from/to.
All of this happens using that human's End User credentials.
Now, if you wanted to have a server control the user's phone - either a physical one or Jabber - you would use the TSP as an interface to CTI Manager on the CUCM server and receive real-time events (e.g. the user went off-hook, the phone is ringing with this caller ID, etc.) and issue commands to that phone (e.g. make a call to X). This is done using an Application User account because the server would need to do this for multiple users simultaneously. If you also use the Super Provider concept, the CUCM administrator doesn't have to take the extra step of associating every phone to your Application User manually. Instead, you can simply issue CTI subscriptions to see any/all device activity you want.
This is all assuming you wanted to do the integration server-side to avoid having to update the Cisco TSP application on every user PC (which also limits your WPF application to machines capable of running the TSP) every time the CUCM administrator patches the servers. If you don't care about that, then you can do this all client-side on the user's PC, and have them supply their End User credentials.
Of course, you could also reconsider the Jabber SDK and just embed the make/receive call functionality directly into your application instead.

  • How can I connect multiple clients to a single client ?

I am currently developing an instant messaging program.I created a server and connected multiple clients to it by using thread logic. However I do not know how to connect multiple client to a single client.
What shall I do for that?Does anybody know a good tutorial or sample program?Or shall anybody explain me what I shall do for building the Instant Messaging part of my chat program?
    Thank u in advance.

You may use UDP multicast socket. But since you are using the UDP protocol you might risk losing the data that you send since UDP does not guarantee the safe transfer of data.
Alternately, you might create a server that allows multiple client to connect to it whose connection Socket objects are then stored in a Vector <Socket> object. The server then sends back data to the connected client about the other clients connected to it. Now when the client wants to send data (like an IM) to another connected client, it has to send a request to the server specifying the client login name and the server in turn streams that particular client's Address and Port to the requesting client. The requesting client then initiates the connection with the other client and then starts a conversation. One more thing, when the client communicates it needs to send information to the server like the name by which it likes to be referenced. In this scenario the server acts like a central repository for clients to query the existence of other clients in the chat room. Each client here runs a thread that listens to incoming connections and when a connection is established, may be opens a IM window or something.
The third option is to make the server to relay the information from one client to another. Like say, I'm connected to whoopy server and i want to send "Hello" to jackson, then i send the message (ie, Hello) along with the name of the client to which i wish to send it to (ie, jackson). The server then performs a lookup in its Vector <Socket> object and then initiates a connection with jackson and sends the information. However, this method is pretty costly in that you will be wasting a lot of processing behind the server.
