Spotify Free for Partner Audio Platforms

Hi, as Spotify does not limit (in time) free use, will Spotify now allow - third party embedded Spotify - software to connect even though the user has no premium account? There (no longer) appears to be a real reason to treat this type of connection different from a (single) device app/webplayer connection. Downloading in a streaming embedded app proves a challenge for most people. Maintaining a 128 kbps stream and interrupting the stream with commercials is acceptable for this type of connection.

As a dedicated  Sonus user, I feel that Spotify needs to to review its premium only access. I often use Sonus to listen to Pandora, Google Music, I tunes etc  because of their free- to- use characteristic. If Spotify had the same availability I would be more likely to take advantage of all that Spotify has to offer.
Good work,Spotify for allowing free access ( of sorts)  on mobiles.
Now's the time, however, to step up and ensure that it is more available to all aspects of the digital regime such as streaming at home, easy access to in - car  listening and on Smart  TV through a dedicated app or forming alliances with others is the digital entertainment arena as Pandora has done with Ford and Sony .

  • Same apps free for other platforms but paid for Wi...

Recently purchased a Lumia 920, and quite satisfied so far. But I have observed that several apps/games which are free on other platforms like Android and iOS are actually not free for Windows Phone. For example, the entire Angry birds series is free for other platforms, but they're paid for Windows Phone. What is the reason behind this? And when Microsoft are trying hard to promote their Windows Phone OS, why are they so greedy that they charge for apps/games which are totally free on other platforms?

Contact the developer or MS on that one. Some games and apps would of been free for a time or there is opportunity's when these go free for a certain period.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Free Harry Potter Audio Book???

I'm thinking of downloading iTunes because I recieved an iTunes add from Apple featuring Harry Potter 6. When I clicked the download button, it said that I would have to download iTunes first, before I could have access Harry Potter. I'm assuming that the audio book is free because there is no price shown on the add. My question is: Is Harry Potter audio truly free from iTunes? I have the Harry Potter CD's already from my local library. I love getting free audio books at the library. I couldn't imagine actually paying for an audio book. But it would be nice to have a personal copy if it was free. So are you guys all getting free audio books from iTunes? Is it worth the download?

I listen to audio books all the time, so at 50$ a pop I'd probablly have to win the lottery before I could afford everything on iTunes audio. I’m just going to continue to get my audio books for free from the library like I’ve been doing for years. Just a hint for everybody who likes audio books - if public library dosen’t have the audio book you want, you can request it and they will get it from another library in about a week, because all national public libraries are now interconnected with an exchange program. This even works with current best sellers like Harry Potter 6 which I’m enjoying right now. I know iTunes is the “in” trendy thing, and some people think the library is for nerds, but I really can’t justify having to pay so much money just to be cool. After all, its not like people are watching me listen to my audio books and saying, “Oh my, that’s not an iTunes copy, it must be a nerdy public library copy.”

  • Cost of Spotify Premium for different countries in relation to USD.

Cost of Spotify Premium for different countries converted to USD.
    Australian dollar $11.99  = $12.5
    Euro 9.99€  = $12.5
    Swiss franc 12.95 = $13.5
    Swedish kronor 99 =  $15
    British pound 9.99 = $15.8
    Danish krone 99 = $16.64
    Norwegian krone 99 = $17
Price for Spotify premium in the US: $9.99
I could come up with several different reasons why this is how it is, however I would like someone who actually works at spotify to state the reasons why the price for spotify premium differs so much between countries. And why it would be cheapest in the USA.
    Thank you.

Yes, but when you're buying a jacket.. or a DVD (a lot of jurisdictions, it's not illegal to have a region free player, only to circumvent copy protection - copy protection and region locking being distinct concepts that often vendors will attempt to intertwine but are distinct as aims).. or a CD, you can import it from that cheaper market - in some cases still cheaper with shipping than if you bought it locally even factoring in local consumption taxes. Sure, it might have some different promotional tracks, or different "extra features", or different language options in the subtitles... but the core content's generally going to be the same.
Case in point. I have an Android phone. I needed an MHL adaptor. I checked local retailer ... $40AUD
    I checked a retailer online.. $30AUD - shipped..
It took a week to arrive, but arrive it did.
With digitally distributed, geo-IP locked content - you lose that ability to shop across markets. To me, it sends the wrong signals to charge one group of people one price, and another group of people another price for the mostly the same content when it's available on the same global network. In essence, you're punishing people who you're trying to ween off the "internet is free" mentality into the world of subscriptions and micropayments.
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate spotify in and of itself - I've been using it a lot at work of late and a lot of friends, both in Australia and internationally have given it a go. It's totally awesome to be able to hear something on the radio or in a movie or on TV.. tag it with Shazam or Google Music Search.. and then to key it into Spotify and hear it play on demand. It's also totally awesome that there's a linux client available - which although in alpha - works.. stably.. (one reason you'll never find me buying an Apple product is the whole 'thalt shall use iTunes' mantra)... and ok, maybe I'm not your average consumer (running Linux on the desktop, stock Android on my phone with root access, bearded and a system administrator - living stereotype much?).. but I'm interested in doing the right thing, and I know content has to move to pay with advertising revenues falling and content, well, more generally intellectual property, increasingly becoming a new and renewable commodity in a world where consumption of physical resources needs to be curtailed.
I know the local record companies probably play into the mix.. and that by taking a segmented market approach as opposed to a global market approach, there's probably a certain "flagfall" cost in smaller markets that means a higher cost as the smaller markets won't be able to match the economies of scale that would enable larger markets to charge a lower price per user but still make more by having more room to play with the margins. I guess it just grinds my gears that the price for the same 1s and 0s is higher.
I guess we'll see what happens if/when spotify considers mobile provider partnerships (especially in countries like Australia where unlimited data often has many asterisks/T&Cs, doesn't exist or costs a lot), and if the AUD should fall against the USD (we're holding above parity for awhile now)... if the price will rise then or hold?
I'll probably succumb when my advertising supported listening is cut back to 2.5 hours a week if I'm still working in a business that allows employees to stream :) .. I guess it's just being so familiar with what the currency's doing and initially being very interested in mobile streaming - and having heard things on US sites talking about the price - to find out, "no, you actually pay more".. well.. it kinda dulled the shine a bit.
I hope you find my post (although perhaps a bit long winded) polite. I believe such conversations are always best dealt with in an even tone.. and again FWIW, I do thoroughly enjoy and congratulate you on providing a working linux client... and in an apt repository at that!

Dont want to pay each month for my spotify free? Its not easy to make this!!! Only upgrade to spotify premium all the time.Anyone who can help me??????

No setting in iTunes.  Don't buy HD versions if you don't want them, you're just wasting time and money.  There is always an option to get an SD version of videos in the iTunes Store.  In this example, "Buy HD Movie" is followed by "Buy Movie".  That's your option for SD movies.
Sometimes you have to look around to find the non-HD option, but it's always there:

  • Mac Pro setup and expansions for Pro Audio applications? Help please...!

    Hello everyone.
I want to buy an 8 core mac pro mainly for professional audio applications (Logic, plugins etc) and I have a few questions about upgrading and expansion.
    1. Since Logic is a 32 bit application and can only address up to 4GB of RAM, does it worth upgrading to 16GB or should I spend the money upgrading the processors?
    2. I've noticed that the Mac Pro has three (excluding the graphics card slot) full length PCI Express slots. Can I install a PCIe card with the shorter connectors? (like this UAD-2 DSP card: http://www.uaudio.com/products/uad/uad2quadomni/index.html)
    3. Can the Mac Pro handle hard disk drives with capacity grater than 1TB and HDDs with speeds grater than 7200 rpm internally? If yes, why Apple doesn't have these options within the Apple Store?
I know that my questions may be a bit silly but since this is a big investment I would like to get everything right.
Any help and advice would be very much appreciated...

Windows 32-bit I have some bookmarked articles, but each app/process has its own 2GB address space and uses page and swap a lot more than Mac.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/64-bit
Free memory doesn't sit idle or go to waste, even Vista/7 will cache 3-4GB to improve system performance. And it isn't released until or unless freed, not fixed or locked and someone else requests more. Mac OS and Mac Pro especially need more memory, and it does show benefits.
A lot depends on how well written software is to take full and proper advantage. And that is ongoing.
Snow Leopard takes a step further into 64-bit, the first time that 64-bit drivers have been attempted. Big review of Snow Leo:

  • Sun Certified Web Component Developer for the Java Platform, Enterprise Edi

I would like to take up the exam "Sun Certified Web Component Developer for the Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 5". Could you please suggest me the right book for it?
Does this one helps? ----Head first servlets and jsp
Whihc version I have to choose?

That book is a very decent start, but it does not cover everything you need to know. I would also get "core servlets 2nd edition", which you can download for free here:
    http://pdf.coreservlets.com
I would skim these two books to see which topics they cover, then check it against the list of requirements you will find on this page:

to see what you are missing.

I am looking for an audio or video Java player which can be used on Foundation of J2ME platform. It is better an open source Java player (but not a must requirement). I am wondering where can I find related sources?

I think there's at least a couple of small application examples in the java tutorials; why don't you start looking at:

  • Is sql as a language free for production use ?

is sql and pl/sql as a languages free for production use ?
and if you wanna help me , tell me about programming languages in general ?
    thanks in advance

    semsem wrote:
is sql and pl/sql as a languages free for production use ?The questions don't make sense. What is important is whether the database allows production use, not the language.
First, SQL is a standard. Every database vendor implements their own, slightly different, SQL dialect. Whether SQL is free depends on what database you're referring to and how that database is licensed. There are tons of open source databases (i.e. MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc) that support a dialect of SQL and can be used in production at no cost. If you are talking about Oracle, it depends on the edition of the database and the terms of the license. If you have the express edition (Oracle XE), you can use that database's SQL engine in production at no cost.
PL/SQL is Oracle's procedural extensions to SQL. As with SQL, though, what is important is how the database that implements the PL/SQL VM is licensed. That, in turn, depends on the edition of the database just like it does for SQL. If you have the express edition (Oracle XE), you can use that database's PL/SQL engine in production at no cost.
and if you wanna help me , tell me about programming languages in general ?Here, it's even less clear what you're asking.
Most languages are free to use. Many languages or deployment scenarios, however, require you to license something else in order to actually run code written in that language. You can, for example, write and use a .Net application free of charge. But since your application relies on the .Net libraries that come with Windows, you would need to license Windows on the machine you are running the application (or run a Linux box with Mono and hope that everything you need from the CLR has been ported). You can find free JVMs to run Java applications on most platforms. But if you want to run a Java stored procedure inside Oracle, you'd need to license Oracle. If you want to run a Java object on a JEE app server, you'll need a JEE app server (many of which require you to obtain a license for commercial deployments).
