How to distribute my windows phone 8 app and windows store app without publishing in the store
any business license or enterprise license needed..
I am a windows developer talking behalf of my company i.e  wipro
I have a question about the enterprise license   and  we are building an app for the limited users i.e our company employees and users and we do not want to publish in the store
    How to release the app?
    what are licenses etc needed?

    Hi,
for developers distributing apps without Publishing in the Store, the sideloding Enterprise key license through volume licensing is required.
Starting May 1, 2014, customers who want to enable sideloading will be able to purchase an Enterprise Sideloading key for $100 through the Open License program.
An unlimited number of devices can be enabled for sideloading using this key.

  • Visual studio 2013 update 2 windows 8 windows phone 8 app

    i am using
Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64 bit os
    Visual studio 2013 Update 2
I want know how to create Windows 8 app and Windows phone 8 app how to create , its showing only 8.1 templates
    please Help Me someone

    Hello,
    Welcome to MSDN forum.
I am afraid that the issue is out of support range of VS General Question forum which mainly discusses
the usage of Visual Studio IDE such as WPF & SL designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System
    and Visual Studio Editor.
As far as I know, in order to develop windows phone 8 app, you need to install Windows Phone 8.0 SDK. If no help, I suggest you conuslt your issue on windows phone development forum for better support like this thread:

    Thanks for pvdg42's help.
    Hi Dhiraj Sakariya,
Like the link provided by pvdg42, if you create a Windows Phone Silverlight project, you would get the option to select the Windows Phone OS version like this screen shot.

  • I am converting existing wpf application to Windows phone 8 app using visual studio 2013

i want to replace the  xmltextreader for windows phone 8 project ????
as we dont have  xmltextreader.whitespacehandling...... how to replace this for windows phone project.....
and i am getting some more error like 'system.net.sockets.socket' doesnot contain a defination for 'beginconnect' and no extension method 'beginconnect' accepting a first argument........

    Hi sagaradi,
    >> So now i want to target that application  to windows 8.1 store and Windows phone 8.1
For the exception about "System.net.sockets.socket doesnot contain a defination for 'BeginAccept' and no extension mehod 'BeginAccept' accepting a first argument of type 'system.sockets'cuold not be found",
it is because that System.Net.Sockets is not available in Windows Phone Runtime app, we have to use the
Windows.Networking.Sockets for instead, for more information, please try to refer to:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/23477961/cannot-find-system-net-sockets-assembly-for-wp-8-1 .
For others exceptions, since I do not have your code, it will be hard to tell. But although WPF/Windows Phone/Windows Store are all XAML-based platforms, they still have a lot of difference among them. Some API which are available in the WPF
may be not available in the Windows Store and Windows Phone. So please pay attention on it, for more information, please try to refer to the following article:

  • How to write and check log for windows phone enterprise app

We have developed a windows phone enterprise app for our customer, this app will be deployed thorough MDM solution, that is , being installed automatically after the device sucessfully enrolled into the MDM server.
Our customer required that if this app failed, there should be some log file they could send to us for identify the cause.
So we catch exception in the app and write the exception message into IsolatedStorage as log file , as following:
    var appStorage = IsolatedStorageFile.GetUserStoreForApplication();
                        using (writer = new StreamWriter(appStorage.CreateFile("errlog.log")))
                            writer.WriteLine(format, arg);
                            writer.Close();
There seemed no problem to write the log with above code. but the problem is , how can the user get the errlog.log to send to us? I tried both Windows phone power tool and IsoStoreSpy tool,  they both seemed
not able to read the isolatedstorage for the application to get errlog.log due to this application not installed by themselves.
              Any suggestions?
    Many Thanks
    Jennifer

The easiest way I see to achieve this goal is to provide a feedback page, search on app local storage to find the log file, ask the end user to click button to submit any feedback and post the log file. You can set up a server to receive that file.

  • Spotify for Windows Phone 8 Not Working

Hello, I have installed the Spotify app for Windows Phone 8 but it does not work. When I try and log in, it says that I need a premium account error code 409. I tried uninstalling it and reinsallting it and it still does not work. I can log in and use spotify radio on my ipod touch with no problem. I tried logging in with my spotify user name and my facebook user name and both give the same error. I have an AT&T Nokia Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8 smartphone. Thanks.

Ummm, maybe if windows phone requires a premium membership (which i understand was probably because of microsoft trying to push xbox music) maybe you should go ahead and stop advertising that its free for 'mobile' on the spotify app. you know since at this moment i have the mobile app and would require premium. specify apple and android. or continue to get a load of complaints and some bad reviews (incase you haven't noticed your windows marketplace rating recently dropped to 2.5 stars.

  • Spotify on Windows Phone 8.1 has become practically unusable

Hey Folks, I've had this problem for a long time (many many months) and have been too lazy to post assuming that this is a issue affecting loads of others and that it would just get sorted but I've come to the point where I really need to find out what is happening. I absolutely love Spotify and use it reuglarly on my ipad and windows phone however my love affair with Spotify on my phone ispractically over.  The app has become really unreliable and more often than not...unusable.  Often it takes forever to load and I just see the scrolling (loading) green dots for ages before I give up.  Ages being 5-10 minutes before I lose interest.  Assuming I do get in, I then go to my playlists and the whole thing happens again, more and more scrolling which sometimes results in the playlists being revealed or again i just simply give up. If I do get to a playlist, I will select it....cue more scrolling whilst it tries to load the track lists which invariably never happens.  Art work, none existent and if I do manage to play one track, the rest of the tracks on the album fail to get listed.  If I even dare to go back to look at the playlists again, the whole thing starts over.  It can literally take me twenty minutes to get round to playing one track! You'd think that this might be the sort of behaviour you'd get in a area of bad signal but this happens when i'm at home using my 50mb wifi and despite being connected to my wifi, which is reliable on all my other systems, I often get the message saying that Spotify is offline or can't connect to the network. I assume that this isn't a problem with my phone and is affecting others out there but it's become intolerable and since i pay my monthly premium Spotify subscription I expect a product that works.  I understand that things get glitchy but this has been happening for the best part of the year and I really should now cancel my payments.  If the problem gets fixed then I'd gladly sign up again and pay the fee but at the mo I'm not sure what I'm paying for. I never have this problem with the app on my ipad so clearly this is a windows phone problem.  I have tried deleting the app and resintalling but nothing seems to work. Could you guys advise anything else I can try or at least let me know that you're aware of the problem and are trying to fix it and let us know when an update will be sent out. I know this didn't happen when I first used Spotify over a year or two ago. Thanks :-)

Hi, So glad it's not just me that is having this issue. The app is virtually unusable at the moment. The thought of having to uninstall and then spend hours, maybe days, re-syncing is not something I'll consider. Just sent the following e-mail - I'll let you know their response. If they offer me 2 months free, I'll ask them to take the offer and place it where the sun don't shine. Premium is pointless if the app doesn't work!!!!! Hi, I hope you can help. I have been a Spotify premium customer for a fair while now, and up until recently, would have recommended you to anyone - in fact, I have done just that, many times. However, seeing as you seem unable to sort out the issues with the app on Windows phone, I feel our relationship is at breaking point, and that makes me sad. A summary of the issues I have.1) Speed - It would be quicker for me to go visit the band, ask then to set up their instruments and play a song for me than it is to start the app, and get to a playlist - even when connected to wifi. I have a commute of around 90 minutes, and about a 3rd of that is spent trying to get to a playlist and start it actually playing2) Reliability - quite frankly, this is a joke. When I eventually get to a playlist, try and open it, it crashes. Admittedly, these playlists are quite large (700+ songs) but it's now started doing it on smaller playlists (one in particular is 270 songs). Considering the amount if time it takes to get to a playlist, and the time I spend curating these playlists, the thought of having to break these down into smaller chunks is not something I am willing to consider at this point.3) Syncing - 48 attempts (yes, I'm that sad that I counted) to sync a playlist of 700 songs. Sometimes it just stops (seemingly randomly) and says 'pending'. I later found out that this is because songs on the playlist had been removed by the artist (yes, I'm looking at you Prince!!!). Once I'd fired up the desktop app, removed these from the playlist) and then re-opened the app on my phone (after it had crashed) it would start syncing again. And then stop. And then crash. Surely it could simply skip unavailable files rather than just stop. I'm really rather fed up. I love Windows Phone. It's UI is far better than anything Android or that other lot have come up with, it syncs with my other Windows devices, and the majority of the apps I use (with the exception of iPlayer) are pretty darn perfect. They work. They don't crash, nor take an age to load. So please, please, please tell me that a) you are working on a fix, and b) that you will treat us Windows Phone users as equals. Some of us are normal. You'll probably ask for these so here are my detailsPhone - Lumia 640 (was the same on my old phone - a Lumia 920)OS - Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 (8.10.15148.160)Spotify Username - rm4rml I don't want to move to one of the rivals, as I've been a Spotify user for as long as I can remember. I love it like a child. We've been through a lot together. Some good times (Prince adding all his music) and some bad times (him taking it all off again), and the offline access is essential to my experience. Thanking you in advance.

    Hi Facko,
Thanks for posting at the forum, however it could be really difficult for us to copy/paste your code and try to repro the issue, I would suggest you to provide a repro sample for us so that we can debug for you.
And base on your description, looks like your app only crashes on the real device, but not on the emulator. I have question here, how the app works on the emulator?
As I know if we open the camera on emulator, the only thing we can see is kind of small color blocks instead of the real images.
You could also try to close the camera and then dispose the object to see if it works.

  • Windows Phone newsfeed app won't connect to on-prem server

I'm trying to use the SharePoint Newsfeed app on my shiny new Lumia 920, and no matter what URL I try, I get this:
    Something went wrong
Please check the URL and your internet connection or try again later.
    I have tried https://server.domain.com,
    https://server.domain.com/my,
    https://server.domain.com/my/personal, and
https://server.domain.com/my/personal/username and none of those will connect. The frustrating thing is that the iPhone and iPad apps connect just fine using https://server.domain.com.
Kind of frustrated and search engines produced no help whatsoever, so if anyone has any ideas, I'd be grateful, thanks.

    Hi!
Do you have a UAG (Unified Access Gateway) in you'r network? I haven't tried the Newsfeed app yet, but someone said on a User Group Meeting that you need a UAG to connect from the Windows Phone. From iOS and Android you could connect
    without it.
I also found this article where it sayes:
"If your organization is using SharePoint Server 2013 the server must be configured with basic authentication in order to sign in to the app. Your system administrator can help you with this."

  • Windows Phone 8 App Maturity

Previously I'd been a long time Symbian user with my last one being a Nokia N97.
When it was no longer tolerable I switched to an Android phone and felt like I'd taken a step backwards in functionality from the sophisticated and well-integrated built-in apps and the world of 3rd party apps (if you knew where to look on the web).
Now that I've bought a Nokia Lumia 1020, I feel like I've taken a gigantic flying leap backwards!
So much that you'd expect to be standard on smartphones just isn't in there (for example "Audio Profiles").
The apps that came with the phone are so fragments and poorly designed and the ones in the Microsoft Store aren't much better.
Even the Nokia app from copying data from my old phone brought just about everything from my Android phone EXCEPT THE PHONE NUMBERS.
It's almost if they are deliberately trying to discourage using the phone for MAKING PHONE CALLS.
The camera is great and is most of the reason why I bought the 1020, but I thought that the software would at least be respectable.
From reading the forum here and elsewhere I see that most people blame Microsoft for the lack of openness (can't get to the file system or get hooks into the hardware--why else are there no weather apps that give you the weather where you are currently?).
I sure hope that better software is in the development "tunnel" on its way to the users.

There are boatloads of weather apps with accurate weather information. In fact juste recently a very good roundup has been posted HERE.
When you have driven a certain car for a long time geting into another make/model will always fell different and you may not be able to find the controls you look for right away. Generally you would find what you seek quicker by asking instead of going off on how lousy your new car is since it does not have this and that..
Sure, there's stuff you would have had on Symbian which is not available in Windows Phone, but the reverse is also true and Symbian is dead and gone while we're seeing Windows Phone improve and seeing updates about once every six months at least.
So instead of posting a pointless rant, maybe post your questions. A rant won't get you any help or solutions, asking question just might.
The íssue with Android/Google account phone numbers has been posted about several times here and getting that resolved takes a little effort but is easy enough.
    1. export contacts from gmail to a .csv file
    2. Download Windows Mail using the Microsoft essentials
    3. When installed log in to it using your Microsoft account
    4. Import your .csv file into windows mail
    5. You contacts with phone numbers will show up on your Lumia 1020 as they sync to your Microsoft account
There are several other options, most of which have been discussed here too.
Which apps do you feel are 'fragments' and 'poorly designed'? How do you define these?
What apps in the store are not much better and why?
Profiles I could see be useful for some but they're not here (yet).

  • Block the Windows Phone Mail App on 8.1

    Hi Guys
I have asked this question in the Windows Phone thread, but need to find the answer as quick as possible.
Is there a way to block Users using the Mail app for personal mail on their corporate phones managed by Microsoft Intune?
I need to allow users access to the store using their LiveID so that they can download Lync etc. But it seems it creates a Mail App with their mail although app deny rules are in place for anything not whitelisted.
    thanks in advance
    NN

    Thanks Jon.
I am in a catch 22 at the minute if I have this correct. Please do let me know if I am on the wrong track.
Blocking LiveIDs means blocking Store access; meaning deeplinks dont work, nor does sideloading apps like Lync. Allowing LiveIDs gives access to download apps but seems to allow personal mail, although I can deny apps it does not seem to deny personal mail. Now
LiveIDs on a whole need to disabled, but it has got me wondering about the feature with personal mail.
If I can deny personal mail, I can have Store access restricted by applisting using deeplinks for ease and no personal information/mail will be available, a happy medium.
I have heard that new identity features are coming later this year (which you also posted on), but for now I need to find closest to this standard as possible.
The one thing I am not overly familiar with yet is the OMA features and whether that has the ability to block this feature via a string?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    NN

  • Capture Digital signature in Windows Phone Blank app

    Hi,
I have created a Silverlight application POC for Digital signature capturing. In which, I have used InkPresenter which capture the Stroke of user gesture on screen and convert that into an image.
But when I tired same code in a WP blank app than it is giving me error. Saying - InkPresenter in not present. I researched on this then found a blog "Windows Phone 8.1 (SilverLight) VS Windows Phone 8.1 Blank". In this InlPresenter Control is not
    anymore in WP 8.1.
Could you please help me understand how could I capture a digital signature in WP blank app.
    Thanks,
    A. ONKARRAJ

NOTE: If I ask for code, please provide something that I can drop directly into a project and run (including XAML), or an actual application project. I'm trying to help a lot of people, so I don't have time to figure out weird snippets with undefined
