Spotify plays wrong song (usually equivalent track number from subsequent album)

Description
Whenever I try to play a song, spotify will play the equivilant track number from the next album down, and to play the song I want to I have to play the equivilant track number from the preceeding album.
A more detailed description, using numbered steps
1. Tried to play the song I wanted to listen to (e.g. Bohemian Rhapsody on CD1 of the Queen Platinum collection) by double clicking or pressing enter button
2. Song on the next album plays instead (One Vison on CD1 of Live at Wembly Stadium)
3. To get original song to play I have to play the equivilant track number from the preceeding album (track 1 - Intro from Queen Rock Montreal)
What I expected to happen
I expected the song I wanted to play... to play
What actually happened
The song on the next album played (same track number, same CD number, next album down)

Do you have any screenshots you can attach to more clearly explain your issue?
Not really

I have the same issue. Also, when playing songs from "Popular" it plays the equivalent track number on the first album.
This seems to occur on the first album I play when starting Spotify. Going to another album resolves the issue and going back it's working as intended again.
Are you storing info from last played artist/album on shutdown and restoring it upon startup? Somehow the index on track-collections of last played artist seems to be +1 on startup.

  • Spotify plays wrong song

I have a strange issue with my spotify on my PC. I have like 5 tracks on my spotify account that when I play them they play a totally different song that I never heard of. They were correct for a while then all of a sudden they started to play a totally different song.  I have tried many things to resolve the issue like logging off, reinstalling spotify, deleting all the cache, ect. When I play the songs on my Ipad or android device they are correct.  They are tracks that I listened more frequently than others but I really have no clue to why it won't play the correct song. I've searched the forum some to see if someone has the same issue but I couldn't find anyone who had the exact same issue. Help would be appreciated.

Hello:  I am referring to the Spotify Desktop app. In the settings there are options to add in local music files sources. I am just trying isolate where the issue might be at with the wrong songs being played. Sometimes it is a local music file that has not linked up correctly to a track in the spotify service, when local music files are added into the Spotify App. Unselect these local music file sources and doing a logout and log back in and then checking those same Spotify music tracks that at first played the wrong song, sometimes this action fixes this issue, and allows the user to then add back local music file sources and not have the issue reappear again.

  • Spotify plays wrong songs

My desktop spotify has this really weird bug.Like 6 tracks play a  totally different song,or in some cases plays an acoustic version of the same song.So far i tried to uninstall and clean cache, but it keeps playing the wrong songs.I have no idea why and coudnt find any useful information in the forum. My phone plays the tracks right.I need help.

What songs are incorrect for you? I came to here to report the same issue. If I try to play (by using the web player) artist "The Greatest Bits", most popular song "Donkey Kong Country Theme", it starts playing Machinae Supremacy - Laser Speed Force. This has continued for a while now.

  • [Bug] Spotify plays wrong track at startup.

Hey guys, I'm not quite sure if this is a bug, but this is what I found out:I usually just hit shutdown and do not close spotify via the red x button, I assume most of us do. But when I start my computer again, and spotify opens with Windows, the current track is not the last track I heard, its the last track I heard and then officially closed. So when I hear now song X from artist Y, and close my Spotify accuratly, then I am able to hear it once i restart my computer, but without closing Spotify accuratly, so just shutdown, I hear song A from artist B, which was the last track I heard and then closed accuratly. I hope this is explaining enough, im not mother speaker in english. Ask if you have questions!

It always does the same thing.  Can someone test and doublecheck ?  Thanks for helping me out. Kind Regards, Christoph

  • IPhone plays wrong song, but shows correct name and artwork

Sometimes when I try to play a song on my iPhone using iTunes match, the song gets stuck at 0:00 and won't play, or the correct artwork shows with the correct meta info, but the wrong song is playing. Any ideas? I'm not trying to stream any of these song so it shouldn't be a bandwidth issue or anything like that.

I checked out page 61 about shuffling songs. I do shuffle the songs, however, my iPhone mixes up the audio and the track info.
Let's say I click on Between The Buried and Me's song Ants of the Sky, the iPhone will then show the proper information, say it's playing it, but then I hear something like Three Dog Night's One. These are files bought on iTunes and I am positive the track information and whatnot is correct in iTunes.
If the audio the iPhone is playing is longer than the song it says it's playing, the song will cut off early. The songs it chooses to play seem completely random, although a few songs are more frequently mis-played than others. This happens whether I am shuffling the songs or not. I first assumed that I had downloaded a corrupted file from iTunes, but then after multiple full restores, nothing seems to be fixing the problem.
Also, the more i play it, the more songs seem to get messed up. It's rather frustrating, I must say.

  • Mac iTunes plays wrong songs

I know this question is posted alot, but I can't seem to find an answer. If anyone can link me to the solution I'd be very appreciative.
On my macbook pro when I open itunes and choose a song to play, the wrong song plays (select something by Yes, I get a song by Led Zepplin etc). Select the same song on my Iphone and its plays correctly. I do have Itunes match turned on.
If I go to the exact file through Finder and select it, the correct song plays.
Seems like some corruption with my Itunes library?
    Any help appreciated.

    Hi there pj300
You may want to try re-creating your iTuens library as an inital troubleshooting step. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • Ipod plays wrong song

Ok, so I've posted a few topics about this a while ago, but none got answered, so...
Sometimes when I select a song for my Ipod to play, it attemps to play the song for a few seconds, it cant, then it playes a different song. I dont know whats up, its the newest firmwear, 1.1.1. I've reset it, and I deffinantly dont want to restore it. I did this on all the other different firmwears that I have had, 1.0, 1.1, and now 1.1.1. So, does anyone know a way to fix it? Or contact apple about it?

Don't be so sure of that. Also, you can get files from your iPod and put them back on your computer. (Might I suggest an external hard drive for the future?)
    PodUtil
    YamiPod
Both will rip files from your iPod, and place them in a specified folder on your computer.

  • ITunes is randomly deleting ID3 tags track number data and album artwork

A few weeks ago iTunes 10.5.3.3 starting deleting the amount of tracks available for an album and its artwork when I would play a song. Thus "4 of 12" would go to just "4". And in some cases the artwork I've had for years and years (since iTunes 6) is disappearing for an entire album when only one song is played as well. There is no pattern or any discernable reasoning of what tracks its choosing to do this with. It's really disheartening when you factor in all the time and effort involved  for nearly 10 years with making all of that data correct and adding customized artwork for 10,000+ songs for it to now just start disappearing randomly.
I suspect my iTunes database file is corrupt, however, how do you fix that without losing all of your Playlists, Artwork, etc.?
I've loved and had zero problems with this software until a few weeks ago. I'm a happy owner of multiple iPods for all this time and now this is disconcerting.

The missing total track count numbers strongly points to Windows Media Player. It has a nasty habit of "refreshing" the metadata when you didn't ask it to. This can happen even if you don't use the program as a rule as it may be launched in the background when viewing certain media content on the web. Next time iTunes has a reason to inspect the tag, e.g. during playback, it will reveal the new data from the tag. In essense the damages is already done but iTunes has yet to notice all of it.

  • Spotify playing different song than the one clicked(gif provided)

This only happens on literally one playlist, all my other playlists are fine(and some do have unavailable tracks such as this one so i assume that this is not a problem) http://gyazo.com/591163554a5d42a7287a979e975cabc0 As you can see,for some reason,a track 2 places after the clicked song is actually played... This started happening after updating a few days ago,but not immediately after

Hi, I am also having this issue - as far as I can tell it only happens to one playlist, which was created by dragging a public playlist onto the "New Playlist" box (this is the only time I have made a playlist this way - I usually create the playlist and add songs or create a playlist by dragging individual songs onto it). I'll try recreating this one by dragging individual songs onto the box - see if that fixes it. This has happened several times in the past 24 hours. A minute ago I went to another playlist and back to this one and it was fixed, but I've done nothing that would've fixed it permanently. Note that there have been several updates since March, so this wasn't fixed (at least not in all cases) in the update back in March. Any feedback on this matter, and when it will be fixed, would be much appreciated. Many thanks,Clarkey

  • ATV3 plays wrong song and has gap at the beginning

    Hi there,
just got my ATV3 exchanged, because the old new one has got this media-library-connection-error, however with the new one I am experiencing a strange behaviour via WLAN and via Ethernet.
Whenever I stream music and skip songs manually playback will start immediately from the beginning of each song.
Playing playlists or entire albums causes a freeze at the beginning of a new song and playback starts between 3 or 6 seconds later, from this length of gap on in the song, so not starting at the beginning. Often it plays a different track than the one displayed (most of the time the next in sequence).
    Anybody else experiencing this?
    Thanks for your help,
    Andreas

Solved it by turning homesharing off an on again!

  • Spotify showing wrong song in BMW 2014 3-series. (Bluetooth)

Hello. I recently got an iPhone, and when I connect it to my BMW over Bluetooth it only shows the first song playing as correct. All other songs are named after the first song playing.. I did not have this issue on my android device.. This is really frustrating. I decided to test with Apple Music and it worked like a charm! I could even navigate my playlist from the BMW Connected Drive screen. Why isn't this possible with Spotify?! It just looked really promising... However all my playlist are in Spotify and I don't want to lose them... If this isn't fixed soon I'm tempted to make the switch to Apple Music. Playing music in my car is the reason I pay for Spotify.

    Hello,
BB has released 3 updates in the last couple of weeks, so I recommend you update to the very most recent, and do so via AutoLoader. Otherwise, fall back (also via AutoLoader) to the version that was functional for you (and be sure to turn OFF automatic updates).
    Good luck!

  • Music plays wrong song

On the new iPad, my music play list, I'll tap a song but a different random one will play. Already restarted. One time I deleted all songs and reloaded them, that worked for a while. Suggestions?

So I turned off shuffle and that did it! But you would think, even with shuffle on it would play the first song as you select it and then shuffle after, like iPhone does. Oh well.
