Spotify Updates Stop Spotify From Loading

I'm having issues with Spotify's updates. This will be the third time I have had to fix this problem. Here's what happened: Spotify working fine...Spotify says "restart for the new version"...Restart...Spotify says "installing", type in admin password, error 16, can't install, can't start the program. So I post on here. Solution is to uninstall, delete all spotify files, run CCleaner, reinstall. I do that, it works. Then that all happens again the same week. I do it again. Now it won't start again because it thinks it needs to update. If I open it as the Admin it will open, but not if I open it as a user. Is there a way to stop Spotify from updating or otherwise fix this? I didn't see anything in Preferences to say not to update. I would appreciate any help with this.

I've had the same install location issue (Windows 7) for a few months. Instead of installing to AppData/Roaming, it installs the updates to C:/Users (this includes Spotify.exe, some .dll's, Apps, locales, etc.). Clean installs from SpotifySetup.exe at https://www.spotify.com/us/download/windows/ did not help, but installing from some of the offline installers linked on the forums have helped - until the next update, when the issue returns.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Stop Video from loading automatically...

Hi Everyone,
I have a VideoDisplay control that I want to play some video,
however I want to control when the video to be played should load.
At the moment, video is automatically loaded even though autoplay
has been set to false. Stopping the video from playing doesn't seem
to stop it from loading. Can I stop the video from loading at all?

How can I stop Firefox from loading automatically when I startup my computer?

A while ago I setup Windows so Outlook and Firefox opened automatically when I log on. Now I want to stop FF from opening automatically. I have gone into the Startup folder and removed the shortcut to FF several times but it keeps coming back. I changed the name of Mozilla Firefox in the Windows Programs Directory to xxMozilla Firefox and that didn't keep it from loading. If necessary, I will remove FF from my computer altogether but I would rather not do that.

Aaarg! I tried Matt's suggestion of using msconfig, restarted my computer, and it seemed to solve the problem. Today when I turned on the computer it hung up before loading Windows. I had to use the F12 button to get it to load. I did and it did and Firefox did not load.
Now, this evening, I turned on the computer, the startup procedure was normal, and there's Firefox fired up and ready to go!

Stop application from loading when unloaded.

When I unload an application say live for example. And a user loads fmle and goes to load the live
application it starts it automatically. How can I prevent this. I want to be able to prevent it from loading
automatically. When a user reaches their bandwidth limit I want to make sure they can't just use the

This has to be coded by hand. As for the live app that is installed by default, you have to remove the main.far file and change up the main.asc file to check if it can start up or not. This part has to be coded by hand, maybe creating a text file or shared object within the app, have it check that on start up for a particular value and reject connections or not based on that. This will only work with the Interactive version.

I'm running Windows 7 OS and had the same issue. I solved my problem by going to the Spotify icon (Shortcut) and right click and go to the bottom were is says properties.Click on properties then click on "open file location". Find a folder that says Users.Click and open Users folder. You sould see a folder that is your username. (xxxx-user). Click and open that folder. Find the file that says "pref". Click to open and you should get a pop-up that says, "choose the program you want to use to open this file". Make sure the check box on the lower left says, "always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is unchecked (It already may be greyed out).Click on WordPad and you should see: ps.publish-playlist=0 and ps.publish-activity=0. Make both a number 3 and click save. Hopefully this will help.

You don't leave the app Open when you Shut down and have this box ticked ?
AND you have other accounts Enabled so that you see the lower half of this pane ?
If you only have the iMessages Account Enabled and not the Bonjour one you will not see this and not be able to set the "When I Quit...." setting.
Whilst for AIM and Jabber and Yahoo Accounts this stop notifications as well it does not for iMessages.
However I do find even though I get Dock Badge notifications It does not Start the app up.

Stop flash from loading

I've got a flash video(

the page has several different videos and I don't want any to load
unless the user chooses to start it.
I've tried using flowplayer but it doesn't accept that file.
Also the .swf linked above has the controls embedded in the swf
file. Would it be possible to extract and FLV file from that swf or
some other way to get rid of the embedded controls?

Open new FLASH file and on first frame place button which

Make sure that the empty file with button is in the exact
same size as the video swf file.
Now, this will come on top of the button and the button will
remain active what might confuse

the loadMovienum action so the button moves timeline to next

Why is Quick time loading pdf file and how do I stop it .

I have the same issue with Safari opening Web PDF links in Quicktime. When I click on a PDF URL the Quicktime logo will display in Safari, then the first page of the PDF will come up, and only the first page will be available, there is no way to scroll to subsequent pages. I have not found any settings in Safari, Quicktime, or Adobe Reader to turn that off. How can I get Quicktime to not be the default imbedded reader for PDF in Safari.

Installing iTunes updates stops iTunes from working in Windows 8.1

Last year after installing Windows 8.1 I had problems with iTunes ( couldn't burn to disc and could not uninstall after being advised by Apple Support that uninstalling was the solution), after assistance from the Windows community my problem was solved. I installed iTunes 12.1, I believe it was.
Then in early January 2015 I received an update notification and installed it but again started getting error messages and could not run iTunes, error was -
"ITunes.exe - entry Point not found"
The procedure entry point "ADadPolicyEngine_DidEnterStation" Could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\iTunes\iTunes.dll.
Then the message
ITunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes
Error 7 (Windows error 127)
Part of last years solution was the correct procedure to uninstall iTunes (remove all Apple programs) this I followed again and reinstalled iTunes. It again worked correctly until 30.1.15. I opened iTunes and was told there was a newer version available which I installed which it completed ok but then it checked for any other updates and foolishly I installed it and got the error message -
GNSDK_MANAGER_DLL. is missing from your computer reinstall
After clicking ok I get the further message
ITunes was not installed correctly, reinstall
Error 7 (Windows error 126)
Whilst I know how to uninstall and reinstall it is a bit of a pain to have to go through quite a long procedure to correct this problem. As this seems to be an ongoing problem does anyone know a solution ?
I believe the suggested update is the same (12.1) that I install from the iTunes site, so why does it tell me to update I ask .
It would appear that this problem relates to the update from iTunes and not Windows
Obviously not installing updates is an option but not the answer.
Any advice will be appreciated.
