Spotify & viaplay

hi!
Can I have/download spotify and viaplay to the apple TV? Like a app some Netflix example. Please help me

No. The only apps available for AppleTV are those that are pre-loaded on it. You cannot download additional apps. You can, however, use Airplay with Spotify from an iPad or iPhone.

Please help I am so terrible with anything other then the basics.
I found my firewall settings but I could only figure out how to turn them on and off. This did not help.
I need it explained to me in the most simpilist of ways.
    Thank you

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    { sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix\.cron)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; echo; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; echo; sudo crontab -l; } 2> /dev/null | open -ef
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    { launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'; echo; crontab -l 2> /dev/null; } | open -ef
    Step 4
    ls -A /e*/{cr,la,mach}* {,/}Lib*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts .la* 2> /dev/null | open -ef
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of login items' | open -ef
Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • I am trying to delete Spotify completely on Yosemite. I think I was doing well so far but there's this file left in the trash that I can't get rid of because 'it's in use'(???)

Hello! Here's some information that might be familiar, I don't know:
I got my Mac late 2014
    Yosemite, 13-inch, Retina
    120 GB, 8 GB RAM
This would be the second time that I'm 'uninstalling' Spotify. The first time was a few months back, when it wouldn't play music and it said something like it's not available in my country (?! which is another issue altogether 'cause my sister can totally use it here). So I uninstalled it and I thought it was gone. Just last week, however, I installed it again because I realised it was working perfectly fine for some people so I wanted to try, and it still says not available on the website so I uninstalled it again. (Which may or may not just be a fault in my part because I didn't really look too closely.)Anyway, while trying to fix something on my Mac this morning, I found out that I somehow had Spotify running in my login items. And this was weirding me out because I knew it was already deleted! Completely! Here is a screenshot just to show you where it used to be and what I mean. I only thought of taking a screenshot after deleting all the Spotify items hehe (ALL, or so I thought! --wait for it--). Sorry, but you get the idea.
This time, I remembered that you don't completely erase a program by the usual way of dragging the icon to the Trash etc etc (that's what I've been doing until just last week) and that you should go to the Library and erase even the preferences files or something. So I did this to Spotify and suddenly there's this tiny file that won't go away that says that it's in use even though I know perfectly as far as my knowledge goes that it is not being freakin' used as of the moment.
And it just bugs me that I can't completely empty my trash because of this one sneaky little file that wasn't even aware had been running on my computer I know this isn't the saddest, most tragic Mac dilemma out there and, clearly, many people have had it worse, but please help me

That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash. Safebooting disables Launch Agents/Daemon and Third Party Kernal extensions. Here's the article to Safeboot OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? - Apple Support

  • How do I use my own playlist with "Spotify Running"?

I was excited to see the Spotify Running shows up on my phone app now. But I can't find a way to tell it to use which of my own playlists to you. I can only see the pre-made playlist from Spotify.     It must just be me. I'm sure Spotify wouldn't have created a feature that forces you to always listen someone else's runnning music.

At the time, you wrote that the Running feature was still being rolled out. Not everyone got it at once. I assume you have it now. If not, make sure you have the latest update. There was no decent communication or explanation of when it would be availble. Lots of confusion about this feature overall.

  • How do I use my airport express speakers with Spotify?

Does anyone know how to use Spotify with speakers connected to an airport express.  I do not want to but the AirFoil app.  Surely, the is another way.

Welcome to the discussion area, mareithree!
You'll need the 802.11"n" version of the AirPort Express to be able to "Enable ethernet clients" and connect the DVD player. Unfortunately, your older version of the Express does not allow this type of feature.

  • Cannot login on Spotify for Android

I recently uninstalled Spotify off my Galaxy S5 as a fix for my new playlists not appearing on my phone. I tried to login to Spoitfy after I reinstalled Spotify and whether I pick login in via Facebook or with other login details I keep getting put into an infinite login loop, where it never actually logs in.

i got the same problem too.

  • Issues with WIFI-connection in the Spotify app

I have a very annoying problem with my Nokia 5800 XM and the Spotify-app. I updated the app to v. 0.4.3.9 yesterday and it required that I uninstalled the old version first, i.e deleting all my cached tracks. Now today when I'm going to resync (on WLAN, since it's about 500 tracks) it just won't connect. I choose the correct WLAN from the list, but the app continues being blue (not green) and then the list pops up again. I read another discussion about almost the same thing a moment ago, so I tried to go to the menu and check the WLAN connection from its menu. So I did that, and it says my WLAN has full signal strength (I'm right next to the router) but then it loses the connection and asks me again which network I want to use. I have not had any issues with WLAN in any other app, and I have synced tracks with Spotify on my WLAN before, so I have no idea where the problem lies. Maybe something with the update and my WLAN? I don't know...
About the attachments: The list that shows several times and then the WLAN list where I'm connected to my network and it has full strength. "Marsvinsfarmen" is my network.
I'm thankful for answer, I use Spotify every day!
    Solved!

Okay everyone! I struggled with this problem for a long time, and I was just about to send a complaint to Spotify when it worked for me! See, I did a little different than before; this is the list I was going to file:
"1. I open Spotify from the application menu.
    2. I choose "Online" mode.
    3. My phone asks me how I want to connect to the Internet.
    4. I pick "Easy WiFi".
    5. I choose my WiFi network from the list.
    6. Application seems to be signing me in.
    7. My phone asks me again how I want to connect to the Internet.
    8. I repeat the procedure. Spotify can't connect with WiFi.
-I have tried to connect using other WiFi networks, didn't work.
-Before I updated last time I could connect without problem.
     -I can connect using 3G.
-I can connect using WiFi in other applications than Spotify, for example Opera Mobile and the native browser.
-I have reinstalled the application without difference."
However, I did it a little different, which made it work: instead of choosing "Easy WiFi", I choose my network directly from the list: see attachment. I never thought of that I could do so and I can't remember I did that before the update either. I have now synced my tracks and the app seems to be a little buggy, I still hope for an update, though it now works at least. Sometimes it crashes.
Please, tell me about if this worked for you and if you have other, better solutions. This isn't good enough, I still seek a better way.

  • How do i setup my MacBook Pro to play music from Spotify or Deezer via a separate Airplay enabled speaker? I know my MacBook is Airplay enabled because i can see the icon in iTunes, which works fine, but not when general web browsing.

Airplay music from Spotify on a MacBook Pro

I would sign out again, then update your Mac (latest version, not 10.7.3 as shown in your signature), open "Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars" and then choose iCloud and sign in again. I would also do the same on your iOS device (sign out and in). Make sure to confirm the message when you will be asked to merge the contacts with iCloud.

  • Am I missing something? Spotify could be so much better!

Hi folks, New Spotify user here. Initially when my friend first took out his tablet with Spotify and we were all passing it around I was really impressed, however now I've got an account myself I've started to notice a lot of really surprising shortcomings and after perusing these forums it looks like that has been the case for years... in fact in a few cases it sounds like Spotify has actually taken away functionality from us! Anyway, below are a list of my gripes with the software, if there are ways to get around them that I should don't know please let me know, as I said I'm still fairly new to this. Dragging Albums & Artists in to Playlists - Click 'Albums' under 'Your Music' and drag one of them over a playlist, you'll notice initially the icon is a cross to suggest you can't do that... a few seconds later that will change to a + to say OK that's fine. Let go to drop the album in there are there and the whole application freezes while it adds a couple of songs to a playlist... Then you find that it hasn't added the songs from that album that you have added to your collection but the ENTIRE album... this is wrong in my opnion, only the ticked songs should be added. Worse still if you try and do the same with an 'Artist' in your library it will just freeze up and do nothing at all.Filtering Playlists - I've seen elsewhere on the forums that used to be possible... and that Spotify removed it about 2 years ago and have just never put it back... how is that acceptable? You can do it on the Android app but not the Desktop one?!Can't Hide 'Friends' Panel - Hurray for social crap As far as I can tell you can no longer close the 'Friends' panel on the right-hand side of the desktop application which is pretty annoying as it is completely broken (rarely, if ever tells me what my friends are actually listening to).Adds Duplicates to Playlists - For a while I thought this user error but dragging songs (or even right-click and Add to Playlist) occasionally, for no reason at all, just adds the song to the playlist twice... annoying. No Tags or User Genres - How, in one of the most popular music players in the world, is there not the functionality to add tags to your music or at least put them in to user-defined genres. Instead all I can do are playlists? Really? I've seen this mentioned on the forum previously, I don't know if it's something they are working on but it's long overdue.Combining Local Music in Song List - So the only way to listen to all my music, as I understand it, is to drag all my spotify songs in to a Playlist and put all my Local songs in that playlist as well... OK... the problem with this is then I have to add every song I ever add to my collection to that playlist as well and as I've already said it decides to add duplicates when it feels like it so it will be a pain in the arse to manage effectively. No Smart Playlists - If you've ever used iTunes you'll know one of the few good things it does is allow you to create smart playlists by just creating a few rules to determine what types of songs to add to the list... this is sorely lacking in Spotify. There's so much I love about Spotify but why are they developing this video crap when they could be making their apps in to the best music player out there? Right now even iTunes has more music playing functionality and options for the user than Spotify does... This time next week Apple's streaming service will be released and if it streams as well as Spotify (which it undoubtably will) and works through iTunes (a vastly superios music player than Spotify for the most part) I would seriously consider leaving Spotify for Apple.

Hello: I have went through all your points using the 1.0.8 app version and a Win 8.1 64 bit machine. All points other than 5 and 7 which are Idea requests, everything runs like it should. I can drag and drop content without any doubles being added. I have search filtering in playlists. I can play music from all sections of my account, even content not added into a playlist. I can hide friends feed just fine. I will contend there is a slight delay with dragging and dropping content into playlists and when a user system registers the movement within the Spotify app, but it is maybe a 1 or 2 seconds longer than before on the Spotify 0.9 desktop app. I probable will avoid Apple music on personal reasons, I have already checked out the free limited skipping of the radio stations, not that much different from Pandora to be honest. I am not actually a fan of how they have behaved the last few years, and their recent dealings with the music labels to try and undermine free Ad trier music streaming access. In fact I have found Apple lately to having behaved arrogantly and with disdain for the free market system, because they where unable or unwilling to actually create a free ad trier streaming music access to compete. I am not all that big on Internet radio to be frank, I haven't touch my Pandora account in about 2 years now, so Apple is not offering me anything I do not already have access to between Spotify, Youtube, and the occasionally album I can only find at Rdio only. I am set and happy.

  • Spotify won't open and I can't uninstall or reinstall

When I try to open Spotify nothing happens. Not even an error message or something.
The same when I try to uninstall it. Just nothing happens..
When I try to reinstall it, it says 'installing spotify'. And again boom, nothing happens afterwards.
    Can someone help me?!

Hey! Welcome to the community :)
Do you have Internet Connection Sharing enabled on any of your network cards?
Spotify doesn't seem to like that setting for some reason!
If you are having issues, can you try an uninstall and reinstall whilst in Windows safe mode with networking and see if it then works?
Instructions to boot into safe mode with networking are here:

  • [Tutorial] How to Disconnect Spotify from Facebook

How to Disconnect Spotify from Facebook
This is not an officially supported Spotify workaround.
It seems to be a common request on the community to want to disconnect accounts from Facebook.
If you wish to do this, then follow the instructions below closely.
Please note: It is highly recommended that you log in and cancel your subscription IF and ONLY IF you are planning to deactivate your Facebook and you have Spotify account created with Facebook , as once you have done that, you may not be able to log in to cancel. You may also want to log into your online profile and set all the email notifications to "Never" to stop Spotify sending you emails on that account.
This serves as a "Do It Yourself" guide since it is the fastest way to disconnect from Facebook. If you have a premium/unlimited subscription or would rather have someone at Spotify assist you in doing this, don't hesitate to get in touch with customer services instead using the online contact form.
    1.  Check your account type.
The method of how to disconnect from Facebook depends on how you originally created your account.
If you have a dedicated Spotify username and password, then go to step 2a.
If you created your Spotify account using Facebook, and therefore log in using your Facebook email address and password, go to step 2b.
If you log in using Facebook normally, but are unsure if you created your Spotify account using Facebook or a Spotify username, log into your online profile using your Facebook details. If you see a username consisting of ten digits you're likely using a Spotify account created through Facebook. and need to go to step 2b.
    2a. Disconnect from Facebook.
Since you have a dedicated Spotify account, disconnecting from Facebook is easy.
    In the desktop client:
Windows - Go to Edit > Preferences > Social Network > Disconnect from Facebook.
Mac - Go to Spotify > Preferences > Social Network > Disconnect from Facebook.
Once you have done that, your Spotify account is no longer linked to Facebook, you need not continue any of the steps below.
You may find due to data caching in the client, that you still see Facebook information (such as the People list) hanging around, a quick clean reinstallation of the application should fix that for you.
If you can't see the option to connect/disconnect, then you are logged into a Spotify account created with Facebook not a dedicated Spotify one.
    2b. Create a new account.
Disconnecting from Facebook is not possible if you have a Spotify account created with Facebook.
You can obviously select not to share your activity on Facebook from the Preferences menu, however, if you wish to completely disconnect then read on.
If you wish to stop using your Spotify account created through Facebook, then you will need to create a new dedicated Spotify account from the signup page which should now be available in all launch countries. Once you have done that, make sure to note down your new Spotify username and password and keep them in a safe place. Continue to step 3.
The easiest and quickest way to move your playlists from one account to another is explained in steps 3 and 4. Since there is no way to directly transfer playlists from one account to another, this process subscribes your new dedicated Spotify account to the playlists on your old Spotify account created via Facebook.
    3. Backup Playlists
The easiest and quickest way to backup your playlists is to sign into your Spotify account created with Facebook and simply drag and drop them from the left sidebar of the desktop client onto your desktop, or into a folder. This will store links to those playlists locally.
    4. Restore Playlists
Log into your new dedicated Spotify account, created in step 2b.
Now, drag and drop your playlists from your desktop (or folder) into the Spotify client, and they should reappear. These playlists won't be editable, since they are still "owned" by your old account. However, once you have got them into the client, if you want to make them editable you just need to make a new Playlist (File > New Playlist) and then copy and paste all the tracks from the uneditable one into the new one. You can also drag a subscribed playlist to the "New Playlist" button which will instantly copy the playlist and make it owned by you (Thanks Stupify for this awesome tip!)
The fastest way to highlight all the tracks is to click on the playlist, press Ctrl/Cmd+a and then press Ctrl/Cmd+c to copy them. Then navigate to your new playlist and press Ctrl/Cmd+v to paste. Continue to step 5 (if applicable).
    5. If you have an unlimited/premium subscription…
There is no easy way for you to transfer an unlimited/premium subscription from one account to another.
The simplest and fastest way to get back up and running is to simply unsubscribe from the subscription page on your old Spotify account created using Facebook and then resubscribe on your new account. I would recommend you cancel and then use up all your remaining premium days on your old account before you subscribe again, you have already paid for them!
6 (Optional). Request the removal of your Spotify account created using Facebook.
If you wish to request your Spotify account created through Facebook be disabled then please read and follow the instructions in this topic.
I would strongly suggest that if you do not do this step, that you at least log into your online profile on your old Spotify account created with Facebook and set all email notifications to "Never" to stop Spotify sending you any emails.
Once you have completed the required steps above, you should have a complete Spotify account which is not in any way connected to Facebook.
    Happy Listening!
    Peter
If you have any issues with your account, or in following these steps, then the Spotify team will be happy to help, just drop them an email using the online contact form.
I do not work for or in anyway professionally connected to Spotify.

I'm also on a premium account. How the hell do i do it? I just want to get rid of facebook. Let me goooooooo.....
    Hey :)
    Did you read step 1?
If you created your account using Facebook, you won't have the disconnect from Facebook option, since your account is tied to Facebook. In that case you will need a new account as described in the tutorial.

  • Can i use spotify app on my old iPhone without phone service?

    Hello,
Ive just upgraded my iphone as i need my current iphone to use spotify for my wedding playlist. All the songs are available offline on my spotify app. So when i get my new phone will i be able to use the old one to just use the app for songs?

I used the wifi on my Blackberry while it was unactivated, just to get used to using the BB and get comfortable with the OS before traveling with it as my primary device.
It should work as a "spare googler" - but as you expect, no texting or phone calls as there is no phone number associated with the device.

  • Need help- trying to figure out if Spotify would work for my senior living community

We are a senior community that has activity programs running in like 7-10 areas in the building.  Music is a big part of our day.  CD's for all these areas is getting crazy.  There has got to be a better way.  We want to be able to pick music genre, a song even to hear and have playlists.  What we have currently:  We have some laptops and desktop computer using windows.  We also have a few MP3 players, boomboxes and IPODS.  We also have Wifi.  But sometimes of course we have Wifi issues.  We have access to usually a laptop or boombox.  We could use the MP3 players/ipods.    I like the idea of playlists that we share, pulling music that is alike.  These are my quesitons or issues below: Things are my questions:1.   Can we have 1 account be made for different appliances and be on spotify at the same time?  Premium said 3 but you can't be both logged in under each account.  Is this still true?  Postings were old. 2.  With even the Spotify family can you be on to the account at the same time?  3.  What would be our best solution for this for accounts- would we have to set up different account for each device if we want to play at the same time?  Any ideas - I just really need suggestions4.  If we did our laptops, we would need speakers?  Also for boomboxes- is this possible?  I am assuming using like an MP3 player or IPOD.  Spotify work through them?  Is it certain type of MP3 players and IPODS.  I believe a few of ours are older ones. 5.  If we have tons of accounts, can I start all accounts on same computer?    Would I set them up by each device we have?6.  Can you run ipod/mp3 through large TV speakers?  or laptop music through big screen tv speakers?7. For the music itself, can you pick what exact songs in playlist?  Can you make lots of playlist per account?  I saw 3,300 songs but can you name the playlist and stay forever?  Sorry for all the questions.  I am trying to figure out if this is even possible or worth doing.  If we have seperate accounts - how much monthly is that?  Is there a deal for that many devices?  Thanks

Spotify has 2 different account types. You can see the difference between the two at the bottom of the homepage: http://spotify.com
1: Each Spotify account can only play on one device at a time. You can have the account logged into as many devices as you want, but you can only play on one device at a time.
2: With Spotify family, there are several Spotify accounts under one plan. Each account is able to play on one device at a time.
Check out the family help guide here:
    https://support.spotify.com/learn-more/guides/#!/article/spotify-family
Also check out this thread for information:
    https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Accounts-and-Subscriptions/Spotify-Family-Q-amp-A/td-p/988520
    3: Yes, as stated above
4: You wouldn't necessarily have to have speakers hooked up to the laptop. If the laptop has speakers or you input headphones, that should work. Spotify doesn't work with MP3 players/iPods. To use Spotify you have to have the Spotify app.
You can find a list of compatible devices here:
    https://support.spotify.com/learn-more/guides/#!/article/spotify-system-requirements
7: Yes you can search Spotify and add any song you want to a playlist. And you can also make lots of playlists. Each playlist has a limit of 10,000 songs. The 3,333 limit you saw is for the offline limit on premium accounts. Up to 3,333 songs can be downloaded for offline listening.
Hopefully this information helps. The family plan can have up to 5 accounts. It might end up being too expensive for what you need. The free plan has ads, but it still might be worth looking into.

  • How do I get music from spotify transferred to my itunes library?

I need to get my music playlist on spotify downloaded to my ipod nano. It says I have to import it to itunes, when I try nothing happens. How do I do this?

When you connect the iPod to the iMac, doesn't iTunes (and iPhoto if you have pics on it) launch and ask if you want to synch? Does the iPod even show up in iTunes? If so can you click on the iPod and then synch?

  • Sharing playlists with specific spotify users (neither public nor collaboration)

Hello. Hope someone can help me with this. I do not want my friends to sign up to Facebook. They have spotify.
I do not want my playlists to be public. I want specific friends (who have spotify user accounts) to access my playlist because I allow them. I do not want them to "collaborate" and add to it.
What are the steps to do this? Why is the UX so arcane inside spotify? Much appreciate any pointer. Thank you.

Currently, the only thing you can do is share your private playlist.
You have the ability to send it to individual people to view or you can post to your followers.
