Spotify Won't Sync my Playlists

So I joined Spotify way back a million years ago and it uploaded my music and my playlists. That's all well and good. But it won't add the playlists I've created in Windows Media Player since then or sync any of the playlist changes I've made. How can I get it to sync this? These playlists are also in Google Play as well, so if I can't sync my Windows Media Player anymore, maybe I could sync to Google Play? Thanks so much!

  • Spotify won't sync local files

When I download my playlist to my android (Sony Experia ST27i) all my local files are unplayable. They do appear on the phone, but when I try to play them it says ''the song is not available''.
One more thing: when I am on the computer, my phone won't show under ''devices''.
I have followed every instruction but nothing works...
    Please help!

    Galaxy S5. Android version 4.4.2.
None of these methods work. I, too, have tried disabling all firewalls and the antivirus software. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the phone and desktop applications repeatedly. I have updated my router firmware and turned off all router firewalls and enabled UPNP. Offline mode is disabled on the phone.
If I uninstall and reinstall the phone app, then close then reopen the desktop application, the phone DOES show up under devices. The large button on the desktop that says Sync with this device is visible when I click on the device. However, the button doesn't work and nothing changes. If I do any navigating within the phone app, the phone disappears from the devices on the desktop and never comes back until I reinstall the android app on my phone.
The playlists that I made on the computer that are only containing local files (created specifically to try to fix/assess this issue) do show up on the phone. I have selected "download" on the phone, but the local files never download.
People have been complaining about this for so many months without resolution, it's very frustrating.
EDIT: I am also running the desktop as an administrator on Windows 7.
The spotify version running on my desktop is 0.9.14.13.gba5645ad
    The mobile version is 1.7.0.830

  • Spotify won't sync local files to iphone

I've had local files synced for a long time, but today all tracks appeared as greyed out. I reinstalled the app and now when I press the offline switch nothing happens and the tracks remain greyed out. I've tried everything I have found on this forum: I am connected to the same wi-fi network (which has worked before so there is no problem there), I have about 7gb storage free on my iphone, I have tried reinstalling (several times) both spotify on my iphone and on my mac, I haven't updated the spotify client since this last worked (I went back to version 0.9.15.27 a while ago which did work for local sync). This is probably the most important feature for me so if this isn't getting fixed I will have to end my subscription.

Just follow this instructions (exactly) for you to be able to sync local files from your desktop to your iPhone. Note: This feature is for Premium users only.Using the desktop app, add local music files you want to sync to a playlist.Log into Spotify on your iPhone using the same WiFi network as your desktop.Tap the menu button ().Tap Your Music.
    Tap Playlists.
Tap Local Files, or the playlist containing local files from your computer.Select the playlist containing the local music files and press the Available Offline switch at the top.
A green arrow will appear next to the tracks when syncing is complete.

  • Won't Sync: no playlists exist catch 22

I've seen a lot of posts about this around the web and all of the solutions seem to be "change the iPod preferences when it's plugged in" - here's my new angle:
(Just upgraded to latest version of iTunes this morning by the way)
I plug in the nano, it says "can't sync, etc etc, all of the playlists selected no longer exist". It then pauses and the iPod screen returns to the main menu and iTunes has disconnected it. I'm free to change the settings, but when I click apply it can't find the nano because it's already ejected it, and throws an error, consequently I'm unable to actually change the settings about WHICH playlist(s) should be synced - does anyone know how I can get around this? I'm happy to start hacking config files if it'll help!

Did you have it set to sync to specific playlists which you subsequently deleted? If so, maybe you could try recreating the playlists (assuming you know the names). I don't know if it would work if it was just a playlist with the same name or if it would have to contain the same tracks.

  • ITunes won't sync smart playlists

So I have 8 smart playlists plus 6 normal playlists in my iTunes, it's all been working well and it's been syncing all of them until about a week ago. After I synced it, I noticed that only the normal playlists were on the ipod, not the smart ones while they are still showing in itunes, I tried re-syncing but it didn't work, I still only have normal playlists.... PLEASE HELP!

After some experimentation I have a solution that I find satisfactory for a smart playlist containing only podcasts, and not referencing any other playlist, AND still leaves the "Live Updating" checkbox selected.
    What I did was...
    - removed any references to other playlists in the Smart Playlist options.
    - changed it to "Genre" "IS" "Podcast"
    - added "Plays "Is Less Than" "1"
    - Selected "Limit to" (in my case 25) "items" checkbox. (I coincidentally, also chose "by Artist" but it didn't matter.)
    - Unselected the playlist, under the Podcasts tab, while the iPhone was connected...
-- Sync'ed the iPhone once without it selected.
-- reselected the Playlist under the Podcast tab of the iPhone options, and
--- re-synced with the playlist now selected again.
I have to say I am more than pleased that it not only is keeping the same order in iTunes as well as on the iPhone, but it also removes ON-THE-FLY! the podcasts as I completed listening to them - in the iPhone, without any sort of syncing enabled.  I had always hoped that would work someday.
    Thank you Apple.

  • HT1386 my iPhone won't sync my playlist with my newest downloaded songs. it says the synced but when I look on my phone, they aren't there. it's been like this for a week. I've tried everything, restarting my phone and computer, reverting the phone. nothi

    .

Amazing steps you've done so far! The great news is this is very unlikely an issue with your iPhone.
I've run into a similar issue lately as well. I narrowed it down to one song that was causing 30 songs not to sync. I removed the song from the sync list (unchecked it) and all 29 songs were able to sync.
You may be running into a similar issue. This may be a problem with this version of iTunes, an issue with one song or a group of songs; hard to know for sure. It's important to narrow down and isolate the cause. Most imporantly get that music back on there!
The way to narrow down the casue add just a few songs at a time (even 1, just to get that first sync finished). Manually syncing is what you'll need here.
Plug in your iPhone, on the Summary screen (shows a picture of your iPhone, the iOS version, Restore iPhone....; etc). Under the Options area at the bottom choose to Manually Manage Videos and Music then choose Apply in the lower right. The music that's on your iPhone now should be removed from your iPhone now. You're now able to sync music manually.
The link below explains how to drag the songs from the iTunes library on the computer on to your iPhone which will start the sync. Add just one song just to see if you can get 1 of those hundreds of songs on there. If you can, awesome! Keep adding until you find the song or group of songs that are causing this issue.

  • Updated to 7.0.6 on my iPhone 5s and now my phone is all out of whack. It won't sync the new playlists I added after the update though when it's plugged into iTunes it says it's synced. Help please!

So I updated my iPhone 5s to version 7.0.6 yesterday, and now my iPhone music isn't working properly. It won't sync the playlists that I added after the update though when it's plugged in on iTunes it says that the music is synced. When I select a song in a playlist on the phone it shuffles through the playlists for like 3 seconds and picks a totally different song to play. I tried reinstalling iTunes, I tried restoring the iPhone, is it just a bug with the update? Nothing works. Any solutions are welcome.

DFU mode? How do I do that? So far the only thing I can do is hold down both buttons to power it on and nothing is on the screen and it wont reconize on my computer....

  • I copied my entire iTunes folder to my new Mac and now new playlists won't sync to my iPhone.

Hi. I recently installed a new hard drive to my Macbook Pro and as I wanted a clean start decided not to restore from Time Machine. I just copied the entire old iTunes folder into my new music library. iTunes itself functions normally but it won't sync new playlists to my iPhone 5.
I had similar problems with syncing my iPhoto library to my iPhone through iTunes but I rebuilt the iPhoto library and that seemed to fix it. Is there a way to rebuild the iTunes library? I used this document:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
and was given error code -50 saying it was unable to import the playlists.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

  • ITunes music playlists won't sync with iphone 5 and iPad 3 on iOS 7

my iphone 5 and "new" iPad 3 won't sync music playlists with itunes 11.1.4.62 and new iOS 7 platform.
I have spent countless hours trying to correct!!!  What is taking Apple so long to address???  I get the greyed out songs with a circle on the left side (below).  Never had this issue until iOS7.  I'm running Windows 8.1.  HELP!

Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the syncing troubles?

  • Yet another 'iPhone won't sync' thread

As the title says, my iPhone won't sync selected playlists from the iTunes library. It used to work just fine and then it stopped working. It goes through the syncing routine, but never shows the "Copying 1 of 1145: Song Name" that you expect to see when syncing. It finishes without error, but when I check the phone, there is still no new music on it. Syncing 'All Songs and Playlists' does seem to work. But I need Selected Playlists. Phone is 3.0.1, itunes is 8.2.1.
    What I have tried:
    Restoring phone
    Updated iTunes today
    Force quit iTunes trick
    All combinations of rebooting
    any ideas?

Reset sync history. On a mac open isync then choose preferences and reset sync history. Be sure to back up your iPhone also before this happens. Are you sure that you don't have manually manage music and video checked underneath the options page when you first open iTunes? This could also possibly hinder your ability to sync over music.

  • IPod touch won't sync all songs in playlist

My son bought a brand-new iPod touch yesterday. He has been trying to compile his playlist and sync it to the new iPod. He has 41 songs on his playlist and only 22 of them will sync. They are all in the iTunes library and the iPod library, but not on the playlist. We tried changing Settings>Music>Group by Album Artist>Off, and that doesn't work. We've also created new playlists and tried syncing those, and that doesn't work either. Today, I noticed that my iPod Touch is doing the very same thing. We have the most recent software and many of the songs were purchased directly through iTunes.
Any thoughts? We've had my son's iPod for 2 days and there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY I am paying Apple support for help on something that seems to be an inbred error on their part.
    Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem as well and tried so many of these solutions, but no luck. I just got a new laptop with windows 8 and when I hooked my iTouch4 to my computer it only show 36 songs out of 509 of the ones I have on my iTouch. (I was freaking out because I thought windows 8 had something to do with it, but as usual I was being paranoid )
I found a way to put the rest of my music on my USB and hooked it to my laptop and put that music in a separate folder. I had all of them play onto iTunes. Now they all worked on iTunes, but I realized they didn't really sync onto my iTouch. To test it out a bought a new song on iTunes and clicked "sync" onto my iTouch, but nothing happened.
So I started searching for answers, but none of the methods solved my problem. So I started messing around with it and realized that the problem was ACTUALLY A SIMPLE SOLUTION.
So this is what I did...
    1) Start playing one of the songs that won't sync to your iTouch4
(don't know how to sync all songs at once yet)
    2) Now right click at the top bar of iTunes where it shows the song playing
    right click on album picture
    3) Then scroll to "Add to Playlist"
the arrow of "Add to Playlist" will show a list of your own playlists and the name of your iPod
    4) Click on the name of your iPod      Ex) Robert's iPod
    5) Then (you can stop playing song at this point) click on iPod device
This should right away take you to "Summary"
    6) Instead of being on "Summary" look for "On This iPod" - Click it
    7) Now "On This iPod" show a list of all the music that is currently on your iTouch
(including the song you just added from iTunes by following these steps)
    8) Make sure all the songs you want in the list have been marked with a "check mark"
    9) Then click "sync"
Check iTouch to see if song downloaded...
*If not then - still on "On This iPod" - click on "Autofill"
    (Wait for it to load)
    Now click "sync"
You should now have the songs on your iTouch as well!
It's a simple solution, but I haven't seen anyone advicing it and I wish they had so I didn't have to go through all this trouble
    Hopefully this helps!!!

I have an album that's in a playlist under a certain artist in itunes but it won't sync to that particular playlist or artist on my iPod touch. Yet on my ipod I can search for it under albums and its there, but still not there under that artist. what's the deal?

  • ITunes deleted songs/videos/playlists from iPod touch and won't sync them onto iPod, but songs can still be played on iTunes however I just can't transfer them back onto my iPod. HELP!

Hey, so I'm wondering if any of you can help me with this issue, I'd be unbelievably grateful for any help, I can't resolve it and I dislike my long commute without my iPod to listen to! Thanks in advance
HOW IT HAPPENED: I had my iPod touch (32GB, 3rd generation) plugged into a speaker charging whilst playing music, and simultaneously I had iTunes (latest version for windows) open on my laptop (Dell - Windows). My iPod started to sync wirelessly with iTunes on my laptop and my music suddenly cut off.
WHAT HAPPENED: Once the sync had finished, all (almost 4000) songs (and videos) had been wiped off my iPod (including any playlists) with the exception of less than thirty songs, all of which I'd noticed were songs I'd purchased on the iTunes store, a seemingly random selection though - some from a couple of months ago, some from a couple of years ago.
I closed down everything on my laptop and restarted both laptop, iTunes and iPod then plugged my iPod in to sync. My iTunes library on my laptop is fully intact, complete with playlists, and I'm able to play songs normally from there, however despite numerous attempts, they just won't sync onto my iPod. Interestingly, no apps were deleted from my iPod. There's plenty of room on my iPod now, and even when everything on my iTunes library is synced onto it, there's still around 3GB space, so it can't be an issue to do with lack of space. I have no idea why it's happened, and the settings are for everything on iTunes to be synced to my iPod (I checked again) so it's not an issue with selective items to sync only either.
A huge thank-you to anyone who can help me!

I have the same problem!! only thing is that i have the ipod touch 5th generation and a mac. I've been trying to find a way to get all my music to play cuz it will only play on itunes but when i try to play it on my ipod it'll just show a circle with a red square in the middle next to the songs i cant play.

  • Weird playlist/ERROR message/won't sync songs/won't restore!

I just ran out of room on my ipod, and something came up saying do you want to create some playlist? I'm not sure exactly what it said, but it was so I can make more room on it. I went through my library and deleted songs I didn't want anymore and I deleted this playlist that my Itunes made by itself. I added my new songs, tried updating my ipod and it won't sync the songs. It says "Songs on the Ipod cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist." I tried restoring it, but another error came up. Nothing works.
Any ideas? Or do I have to take it in to the Apple Store?

I assume you have seen this article regarding this error message.
    iPod: Cannot restore or update in iTunes with error 1415, 1417, 1418, 1428, 1429, 1430, 1436, or 1439
It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive.  I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread.  He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.
