Spotlight black/grey background on iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 8.0.2

on my iPhone 6 plus running iOS 8.0.2, when pulling down from any screen to reveal Spotlight search bar, the entire screen goes into black/grey color. No matter what I try it stays this way. Any ideas how to fix this? I don't have any accessibilities turned on except reduce noise when calling.

Hi wenyang steven,
If you are having issues with your iPhone showing a grey screen when you try to do a spotlight search, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
iOS: Force an app to close
Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -

  • IPhone 6 Plus 64GB (iOS 8.1 or 8.1.1) springboard crashes repeatedly when making phone calls via Continuity on Macbook Pro Retina Mid 2014 using Yosemite 10.10.1

I USED TO be able to make phone calls using continuity on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) with Yosemite (10.10) via my iPhone 6 Plus on iOS 8.1 without any problems.  Once I updated Yosemite to 10.10.1, my iPhone's springboard would continually crash where it brings up the Apple logo and quickly restarts repeatedly until I end the call.  Just so that you know, I am able to stay on the call while this is occurring the whole time.
I need to reiterate, this all started happening as soon as I updated Yosemite to 10.10.1 while still on iOS 8.1.  I know this because I made a few phone calls (loving the feature), updated Yosemite to 10.10.1, then made a few phone calls afterwards, and this started happening.
When iOS 8.1.1 came out, I eagerly updated hoping this issue would go away, and it did not.  I'm hoping Apple notices this post.  If anyone else has this problem, please contact Apple and chime in this post as well.  Thank you Apple for incorporating continuity calling. I love this feature, but need to use it without my phone's springboard constantly crashing.

I have this issue as well. I am using an iPhone 6 plus, iPad Air 2, 5K iMac, and MacBook Pro. When I make a continuity calls from any device, the springboard crashes. This only happens with outgoing calls, incoming calls are functioning normal. I am currently working with multiple Apple Senior Advisors, and they are working directly with iOS a engineers. I have an active open case and will update this thread when a resolution is found.
Just a tip for everyone with this issue, restoring your devices and setting them up as new WILL NOT correct this issue. Save yourself the hassle. I did this with my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook and the issue still persists.

my iPhone 4 is running ios 7.0.4. I have a slightly eccentric back story to all of this; but basically i set a secondary entry passcode on my phone and i have forgotten the secondary passcode; it appears as though i no longer have the opportunity to enter the code after too many failed attempts -- "iphone is disabled, connect to itunes." i have connected to itunes on itunes on both 11.1 and 11.3 versions (my computer says 11.1 is the minimum requirement for my phone to sync) and attempted to restore my phone; THE RESULTING MESSAGE: "The iPhone 'iPhone' could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build." HOW THE HECK DO I GAIN ENTRY TO MY PHONE AGAIN AND GET SOME USE OUT OF IT. IT DID COST $$$ TO BUY. PLZ HELP!

    Hey there Jachin W.,
It sounds like you are unable to connect to your home Wi-Fi suddenly on 2 different iOS devices. I would be interested to know if the affected phones are able to connect to a different Wi-Fi connection, but barring that I would use the following article to help troubleshoot the devices and the Wi-Fi connection:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
And this section from toward the bottom if needed:
Unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network
Verify that you're attempting to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Make sure you're entering your Wi-Fi password correctly. Passwords may be case sensitive and may contain numbers or special characters.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings

  • Spotlight Search Not working on iPhone 6 plus (VZW)

I have VZW iPhone 6 Plus and when I try to use Spotlight Search feature (by swiping down on the screen) no results show. It will only pull up items after I've tapped the icon to open the app, Then the next time I search it shows. However, if I search for an app I haven't used in a while no results show. It won't even provide any suggestions any more. I like this feature so I won't have to swipe several screens to find an app. It also allows me to put apps in folders and only have 2-3 screens. What's the fix?

This is a widespread issue and resetting the phone, as many people experiencing this issue have tried, does not resolve it. Restarting does, but only temporarily. Please leave feedback with Apple so that they can work on a fix for this very irritating bug.

  • Trouble with making playlists on iPhone 6 plus running iOS8,please help!

    Iphone6 plus 128G
    IOS8.02
IInitially I restored my phone from my previously used iPhone 5 that was updated to IOS 8.01 backed up the same day I got my iphone 6 plus.  It stalled when installing the 2nd out of 400 apps.  I had already hit the "X" button on iTunes to stop the sync so I couldn't do the "wifi-sync" trick to keep it going.  Anyways I eventually turned it into airplane mode after unplugging it and starting the sync over.  Was able to restore everything on my old iPhone, updated my software to 8.02 then updated all my apps, and sync'd my phone again and created a backup on my computer and iCloud.  Saw people were having problems with syncing playlists, but all mine showed up except recently added and recently played.
My question is how to create a playlist on my phone.  I was trying to create a new playlist on my phone, was able to create a new playlist, hit the edit button to add songs, added all the songs I wanted, but then I'm stuck here.  There's no button to "finalize/create" the playlist after all the songs are added.  It will let me go to other playlists, my songs/albums/artists/etc tabs, but at the top It just says add songs to playlist.  When I go to the playlists tab and go to the newly created playlist it just has the playlist name and says there's no songs in the playlist.
    any help would be appreciated!

    hi
i was just creating a playlist when the Done button disappeared. i then tried to make it happen again and i did:
    -play a song
    -then make a new playlist
-select some songs for the playlist
-wait for the song to change and when it does select some songs to add from the artist/album section
-the song change turns the "Done" button to "now playing"
-now you've gotta quit the app because there is not way to finish adding to playlist or change the song you're listening to D:
here are photos before and after the song changes, note the text at the top right of the screen:
After the button changes there is no way of getting the 'done' button back so you have to quit the app
i am also on an iPhone 6

  • Black/Grey Background in Acrobat 9.0

Does anyone know how to change this to a less intrusive colour?
Or is this another arbitrary change from Adobe that can't be changed?
    Thanks.

Finally! Someone else with this concern.
The dark gray background is awful.
It's possible to change the FULL SCREEN background in preferences but I cannot find a way to get rid of this gray. I hope someone can help.

  • After updating iphone 6 plus to ios 8.0.2 I can no longer attach pictures/video/etc to iMessage texts?

    AAnyone else have this issue?

I'm not sure, but I know it's not recommended to upgrade to iOS 8 on anything older than an iPhone 5. I only lost my music playlists and music that was on my phone, but that music is also on my iTunes, not the playlists though, and I don't want to go through ALL my iTunes library to fix it either... But it seems I don't have a choice right now.
Whatever you do, do NOT upgrade to iCloud Drive, keep iCloud till OS X Yosemite comes out, if your computer is a Mac. I also just noticed that all my documents on my phone are gone from Pages, BUT if I go on the iCloud website they are still there. Hopefully it will all work itself out when I can update my macbook pro to OS X Yosemite.
If you backed up your phone and all your purchases off your iPhone prior to trying to upgrade you should be fine... But I'm not even remotely sure.

  • When I connect my iPhone 4(currently running iOS 6.0) I am unable to update it to iOS 7 because when I click update it wants to open/choose a file.. Any suggestions what is happening?

I'm just trying to update my iPhone to iOS 7 through iTunes and I can't work out how to do so.
I've seen everywhere else on the internet when you connect your iPhone to iTunes and click "Summary" it has "Check for Updates" and "Restore iPhone..." just below what iOS you are running. However, mine says "Update" and "Restore iPhone..." also it says this above these buttons "A newer version of the iPhone software is available(7.1). To update your iPhone to the latest software, click Update.".
Upon clicking on the "Update" button it opens a window with a title of "Open" and shows all of my Desktop folders and Application folders and such. What am I supposed to be opening(if anything)? Same thing happens if I click the "Restore iPhone..." button. Help ASAP would be much appeciated.
I am also running iTunes 11.1.5. I have never updated my iPhone with this computer if that helps.

  • My iPhone 4's running iOS 7.1.2 will not connect to wifi?

Both my iPhone 4 and 4s will not connect to my homes Wifi.  I'm aware that there are MANY different forums with the same question but I have tried everything from what i've seen and nothing has worked.  I also have an iPad and MBP that are connected to the wifi just fine.  I'm only curious because, well, if i'm not using Wi-fi, i'm using up Data.  I don't think this is a "take your phone to an Apple Genius Bar" type of problem because it has happened before on multiple occasions. I did nothing out of the ordinary to fix it before; it just simply worked again after an hour or two but it has been far longer than that this time.
Is there anyone else who has tried most, if not all solutions and found any ways to figure out what the exact problem could be?  I think it would be cool if apple could give us an error such as "Unable to join the network 'xxxxx' (Error:#000090)"  <--So that at least we'd have some type of idea of what's wrong.  No solutions have worked so far and it's becoming a hassle .  Thanks to any help.
Also, usually when it happens before it acts as if it's attempting to connect (spinning thing goes for about 5-6 seconds), but now it's like the exact moment I go to put my password in, it rejects me.  It all happened out of the ordinary, I left home for about an hour, came back, and this is what came to be.

  • THIS DOESN'T WORK FOR ME: Sending Maps to iOS Devices If you're also using an iPhone or iPad running iOS 7, you can send Maps from your Mac to your iOS device with ease.

Open the directions or Map to a location that you wish to share, then select File > Share > “Send to Device.”  I don''t have this specific option showing under File in Maps. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Hi,
just disconnect your iCloud account in your Mac (system preferences) and then log in.
It'll work and the button Send to iPhone/iPad will appear in Maps. It worked for me just five minutes ago ;-)
