Spotlight has a dim bulb - help!
I have two problems with spotlight.
When I click on the blue icon in the menu bar, I get a spinning rainbow wheel for a minute or so, and nothing else happens.
When I press Cmd-F to bring up the Spotlight window and do a search, Spotlight can only find a fraction of the relevant documents.
Example: in a folder called PPP, I have more than 100 files with the word "Jade" as part of the name of the file. I told Spotlight to look in PPP for files whose name contains "Jade". Spotlight found exactly three documents - even after I clicked the button to have it search again.
Am I doing something wrong? Did I miss a Spotlight software update? Or, when I bought Tiger (ten days ago) did I pay retail price for beta software? (I intentionally waited several months before buying Tiger so that I would not be paying retail price for beta software.) This is frustrating. Spotlight is the only new feature in Tiger that has any value to me, and it isn't working. Apple just took $130 from me and I got zero added-value. Hey, Tom! Glad to see you're still active! You and I must be a lot alike. I, too, needed fast, reliable searching, have switched back to Panther, and also come here occasionally jus to see what's new with Spotlight. Wonderful concept, poor implementation. Maybe Apple will get it working one of these days. Until then, Panther does everything I need, and more, and with grace and speed.
I can't understand why Apple doesn't take a more active role in fixing Spotlight! I'd go back to Tiger-even with its other problems-in a moment if Spotlight worked. Always been an early adopter but Tiger has soured me; I'm not going to be anxious to move from Panther.

Spotlight has stopped working on my brand new iMac
I've had my new 17" Intel iMac for one day...and Spotlight has all of a sudden stopped working.
It happened when I connected the G4 iMac to the new one but before I even accessed the G4. I tried to search for "Migration" using Spotlight and it didn't work. The 2 Macs were not even communicating yet so the old one could not have corrupted the new one.
Any ideas on how I can get SL to work again? I've done some searches but don't really understand what the solutions are. There are no files at all on my iMac as it is brand new. All I have done is use Safari and iTunes.
Help!The thing to remember about Spotlight on a new Mac is that it needs some time to itself to contemplate working for you, its new master, and to index your entire new HDD.
The Mac OS from the factory is a quick burn and Spotlight hasn't indexed anything. Plus it needs time to index new files that you begin installing. Until it indexes everything it won't work too well. -
i have a bad problem people, my spotlight has like totally gone from my finder bar, i have tryed repairing permissions,repairing disk tryed the updater again still no luck, i have no clue how to deal with this stuff, hope someone can help me thanks

iMac Intel Core Duo Mac OS X (10.4.7)Hi - spotlight is still around. What seems to have happened is the preference file that specifies what icons should be drawn in the exact order you prefer is messed up.
You should test this by creating a new account and logging in to see that spotlight works fine and shows up where you expect.
If so - we can dig into the preference files for your old user and delete that file letting you start new with deciding what shows up in the menu bar. -
my iphone 4s wont turn on with out being pluged in and when i unplug it it dies instantly i pluged it in put it in dfu mode and tried to restore it hoping it might help but its stuck in dfu and has restore error 21 help!!!

My ipod touch has been disabled for 212,456,875 minutes! I have followed all instructions on the apple support site to restore it but this has not worked. Help!
Without know exactly what you did or what happened:
Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode. -

Ideally, it should create one form for each PO with the detail lines for each PO on the individual forms. Can we do this?

If the smartform purchase order is not available in your system
means you can download the form IDES and you can upload the form in ur ecc 6.0 system.we faced a similar kind of problem in our system and we did as i said.
Once you uploaded the things you can easily view the form interface and rest of the things related to smartforms.

I am trying to install iTunes 12.0 on my Windows 7 PC to sync my iPhone6. I am getting error message, "Item already exists" on installation of iTunes 12.0. Apple has no fix. Help???
Item or object?
For "Object already exists" or "Access denied" errors when installing try opening Control Panel > Programs and Features > View installed updates then checking for Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB2918614). Uninstall if you have it, then reboot and try installing again.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Once I downloaded the new IOS 5.0 I've lost all of my photos that were stored on my PC, and I no longer have access to them on the IPOD. Cannot figure out what has happened. Please help.
Thanks lllaass, but I am not computer literate and do not understand exactly what it is I am supposed to do. All of my photos were stored on Microsoft Windows Live Photo Gallery. When I now access the gallery the only thing that is there are the folders with the title of the folders. The pictures that were in those folders are now gone. I can no longer access them on my IPOD either. My photo library on my IPOD is now empty.

My ipod was acting up, it wouldnt sync any new songs purchased after i updated my itunes. So i thought okay i will restore it, and sync everything back, so i restored it and now it tries until a message saying 'The ipod 'IPOD' could not be restored. An unknown error occurred. (14)'
I have tried to sync the same library onto an older ipod and the same thing has occurred.
Please help i dont like not have my music!!!!!!!

If it's a debit card then I don't think that they are still accepted as a valid payment method - they are not listed on this page and there have been a number of posts recently about them being declined
If it's a credit card then is it registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, it was issued by a bank in your country and you are currently in that country ? Can you startup to your install cd/dvd and Repair Disk using Disk Utility?
Insert your insall cd/dvd #1 and then restart while holding down the "c" key. Hold down till you see the bootup grey screen and the spinning cursor and then release.
When booted to the installer splash screen, go directly to the top Menu Bar and select Disk Utility from the Installer Menu. When Disk Utility opens select your HD in the left pane and then the First Aid tab and then click on Repair Disk.
When Disk Utility finishes, note any errors it reports, and if any are not repaired rerun. Quit Disk Utility and then quit the Installer and the computer will restart.
If the computer boots back up to your normal desktop you can then run Repair Permissions from your HD/Applications folder/Utilities/DiskUtility/Repair Permissions.

If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.
