Spotlight keeps showing iCal entries!

OK, must be doing something wrong... I went to Preferences, Spotlight, and unchecked iCal. Even after a reboot, Spotlight still ends up listing iCal entries.
Whoops! OK, different issue. I'm using Find in the Finder window; thought it was using the Spotlight index and settings.
How do I get it to stop showing iCal entries?

Not certain any of this will help, but move this file to the trash and reboot, or log in and out. Then restore your Spotlight settings (Find is Spotlight.) In your Home Folder Library.
/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences/com.apple.spotlight.plist
Or, force Spotlight to re-index the drive: drag the HD icon into the Privacy tab of Spotlight. Leave it for a minute, then remove it by clicking the minus.
Or, just live with it. Spotlight is known to be highly erratic at searching.

You need to go to an Apple store, G Bar, ASAP. Your Mac SSD/Flash storage has died and needs to be replaced or the complete system replaced.

Well seeing as I'm running Lion on 2 GB of RAM, I can't see how upgrading the RAM will make that much of a difference. If you are seeing launch times in minutes, it probably indicates your cache got corrupted by some third party cache cleaning software. To see if some corruption can be fixed, first backup your data:

Then boot in safe mode, holding the shift key. If issues persist in safe mode, run the hardware test that came with your Mac.

And if that is unrevealing, and booting into safe mode doesn't solve anything, and you are backed up, try repairing the directory by:
1. Booting into the restore partition with command-R.
2. Selecting the installer's Utilities menu.
3. Selecting Disk Utility
4. Selecting First Aid
5. Selecting the boot partition.
6. Click on repair disk (not repair permissions)
Do NOT proceed with any install itself. Just quit the install program
If the disk is not able to be repaired, purchase Alsoft Disk Warrior, and boot of that to repair the directory.
If it is able to be repaired, and the machine is still slow, I think you may have run into some RAM that is bad, and need to replace it, not add to it.
If Disk Warrior can't repair the hard disk, replace the hard disk itself.

It did serve to definitively answer my most pressing
question, however, with this statement:

sending code must keep track (for example, in a database) of the
messages it sends and their destinations. When a response event
arrives, it can look up the origniatorID to determine whether it

I will play around with the Application scope to see if there
might be a workable solution there.

Is there a way of doing this with Automator?
This reason I am asking is that I am trying to put a link on my online store where people can click for a gift reminder email that will be sent to them on a date they specify in the body of their email.
The link could pop-up a new email window pre-filled with Subject: 'Gift Reminder' and addressed to '[email protected]' They would be instructed to enter a single date in the text area and press Send...
Then, when Mail.app receives the email, it would move it to a Folder called 'Gift Reminders' and automatically set up a new iCal entry that has an alarm to email the sender on that date with an email containing the Subject 'The Gift Reminder you Requested' etc and some different text in the body... It would be great if this could be set up to repeat annually also as the gift reminder is primarily for birthday gifts...
Id there an Automator script / plug-in or way of making this happen??

Why have iCal entries suddenly appeared in duplicate for every month?

My iPhones and iPad are synced with my iMac via iCloud. All devices work perfectly except iCal on my iMac shows all entries in duplicate.
Adding a new entry shows up as a duplicate in the iMac but as a single entry on all other devices (which is correct)

If re-indexing the spotlight doesn't fix it,we can try a few other tricks.

RH 9.0.2 update keeps showing up in Adobe Application Manager (AAM)

AAM keeps showing up in my Windows XP system tray, and listing the 9.0.2 update. I install it and *zingo-bingo* it's back when AAM checks for updates again.
When the update is installing it gets to 13%, then the progress bar suddenly surges to 100% and reports that installation is complete. This is tiresome, annoying, and frustrating.
I searched the fora about this problem but was unable to find any articles on it, so...
...if anyone has any ideas handy, I'm definitely in the market.

I think this is similar to something I have seen before. I don't have the standalone version of RoboHelp 9, mine is part of TCS3 so I don't get a separate entry.
What happens is Add/Remove and Help > About get out of sync and then you have issues. The only solution is to uninstall and then press F5 in Add/Remove. If there is still an entry, don't panic. Repeat the process until it does go. Then reinstall and add the patches one by one.
The steps I have described were necessary for RoboHelp 8 and I believe RoboHelp 9 should uninstall in one pass.
Whatever the rights and wrongs there, I believe you are going to have to uninstall and reinstall.

Creating iCal entries based on date/time appearing in text on any app

One thing I like about iCal's integration with Apple Mail is that the mail client is able to sense dates and times in email messages and then allow you to create iCal entries. But it seems that this date and time sensing is only limited to Apple Mail when technically users could potentially want to create iCal entries when a date and time appears on any app, such as on a web page in a web browser, in a PDF, or a word processing document. It seems logical then for iCal to be integrated with OS X's text services, so that at least if I highlighted a date and time, I could right click on it and bring up an option to create an iCal entry on based on that date and time.
Does anyone know if this feature is natively supported (for which I have yet to enable), or is there a third party app out there that will allow me to do this?

Just a quick update. I tried the first two -- text2cal and Calendar Creator -- and they don't seem to work on OS X 10.6.6.
However, on another note, I found some discussion regarding Snow Leopard's enhanced data detectors being natively able to do what I've been looking for. But I just can't seem to get it to work on my computer:

Why isn't iCloud pushing iCal entries to iPhone?

I have enabled iCloud on my iPad and new iPhone. When I enter a calendar entry on my iPhone, it syncs with the iPad, but when I enter iCal entries on the iPad, they don't show up on my iPhone calendar. Anyone else experience this? Have I missed something in setup?

ICal entries jump to the day before or after

iCal entries jump to the day before or after the date I entered them on. It might have to do with me changing time zones. How do I lock the entries to the date I entered them on?

It does sound like the time zone may be affecting these events. With time zone support you can set a different time zone for any iCal event. If you would like to keep all events within your current time zone moving forward, you may want to disable the time zone support.

Ical entries disappear from iPhone

I have just synced my iPhone through wireless (mobile me) with my powerbook (I have it set to automatic). However, entries made in iCal on the iPhone will simply disappear, often within a matter of hours. They don't show up on my laptop. This happens for 'calendar', 'work' and 'home' iCal entries.
Has anyone else had this experience?

This happened to me once, I was out and about and noticed that my Contacts and all Calendar events had vanished from my iPhone......I looged onto a computer in an internet cafe and mobileme still had all the info thank god !
I basically deleted the .mac account from my iPhone and did a hard reset then set up my .mac account again and within 5 minutes all my info was back.
This was a one off event mind and yours seems to happen more than once, try deleting your account on your iPhone and setting it up again then see what happens !

My email app keeps showing connecting. It's jammed

My email app on my iPad2 keeps showing connecting at the bottom left of the screen. It is jammed.
This started to happen after my workplace disabled access to the corporate WIFI for all personal iPads. Is there a link to this?

Try searching for the name of one of your videos on the iPad's spotlight search screen - swipe your first homescreen to the right, type in it's name, and if it finds it tap on it to see if it plays.
If that doesn't work then try closing the Videos app completely : from the home screen (i.e.not with the Videos app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option if the two above don't work is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
