Spotlight lost File Location bar at bottom

So I used to have this nice little bar at the bottom of my spotlight that would tell me where the file spotlight found were located... and now it's gone and I can't find any options to reinstate it. Any one seen this?

As far as I know, there was never a location bar at the bottom of the Spotlight list, i.e., accessing Spotlight from the top right corner. Placing the cursor over, but not selecting an item from the list generates a location stream in a yellowish box.
Using Command-f requires one to select a finding from the search list, then the location bar will appear at the bottom.

  • Deleting Old iTunes files w/ lost file locations

Does anyone know of a quick efficient way to take you entire iTunes library, identify which song files "original file location cannot be found", and then remove them.
I attempted to restore my library from a iPod I backed up, but no dice. Now I'm left with a ton of songs I can't play because the directory location is lost or they have that obnoxious by them. I really don't want to sort through the whole god forsaken library manually to figure out which ones are playable and which ones are not.
    Grazi,

Go to the Apple Developer's site and download the iTunes COM for Windows SDK zip file. When you unzip it there is a java script program called RemoveDeadTracks.js running this will do what you want

  • Ive lost file locations in iphoto

I accidentally moved files from "all documents" to trash, and i lost all the file locations in my library, how do i restore them??Files are still in trash.

yes I'm using iphoto. I thought i was dragging jpegs from my flashdrive to trash, but it was on the left column under "search for" all photos, all movies, all documents. i moved them without thinking to the trash, didnt backem up. cause I thought I was making space on flashdrive. When I realized what I did, my events, photos and albums seem to have lost thier locations, when I had the dropped back into iphoto, now i'm just baffeld?!

  • I have lost my location bar how do I get it back?

There is no longer a location bar on my computer, after I downloaded the latest version of firefox and I don't know how to get it back,

Press "Alt" to show the toolbars, then click on View > Toolbars > Navigation bar (turn on the checkmark there).
If the navigation bar was already checkmarked then you were probably in full screen (F11), or you removed the location bar from the Navigation tool bar.
Press F11 to see if you drop out of full screen mode. Full screen is where you window takes up the entire screen without toolbars showing. (at least not with Firefox as delivered without extensions).
If you have the navigation bar, but are missing the location bar then use
"Alt" > View > Toolsbar > Customize and drag the "Location bar" back to the Navigation bar.
If you are not familiar with changes made to Firefox 4 and 5, you would not be first to think the Navigation is missing when it is actually showing. Tabs bars was put above the Navigation bar and the home page button, back/forward arrows were
moved to the right of navigation bar.

The Retrospect you used way back when is no longer around. The company was sold and that company produced a new version of Retrospect - Retrospect 8.x
So, as you've been told, you would have to be running a Tiger system with an old version of Retrospect software (5.x or 6.x - you would need to know) assuming you can find the software.
As best I can remember you cannot extract files from a Retrospect backup except using the software since Retrospect did not normally make a file by file backup rather it created an archive of the files in the backup. I'm assuming that the EMC/Retrospect people have told you that old Retrospect backups are not accessible by Retrospect 8.x?

  • Finding file locations in Spotlight

I just upgraded to Yosemite and love Spotlight's new design, but I can no longer find a file's location on my computer by pressing Option+Command. So what's the new trick for finding file locations?

Press just the Command key -- the path displays at the bottom of the preview window at the right (not very noticeable especially when there is text going to the bottom of that preview).
You can also press Command Enter and that will open Finder to the containing folder with the file selected.
Command i opens the Get Info window with details, but unfortunately it opens behind any open window.

The problem started when I turned on the computer this morning. I tried to install Mozilla 4 from your website and that installed but I still have nothing on the top.

It may be due to Firebug. Seeing as how you're a web developer, it's very possible you have this installed. The latest version, 1.7X a10, appears to cause everything you described. I downgraded to "a8" and that seems to have fixed everything.
I also recreated a profile from scratch before trying this out, so I can't guarantee it's definitely Firebug.

edit: If you go to the Firebug forums, you'll see this is now a known problem. http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/detail?id=4012 for the issue tracker.

  • In Spotlight, Why can't I see the file location?

There has been a loss of a feature from 10.6 SL or 10.7 Lion....
When I search for a file in Spotlight, I want to see the file location. Instead, I get the file preview. Is there a way to set a perference so I can actually "find" my file in the folder instead of just viewing it.

    You're welcome!

  • I Lost Power to my PC while in Acrobat Reader and lost data, where is temp file located?

I lost power to my pc while typing a new acrobat reader file but never saved it, where is the default temp file located, if this exists? Thanks.

The answer to your question depends upon your version of Reader and your OS. Especially since the last version of Acrobat Reader was version 5 which is four majors versions ago. The last four versions have been called Adobe Reader, not Acrobat Reader. This the forum for the Acrobat commericial product, not the free reader product.
PDF files cannot be edited in Reader and fields filled in with Reader cannot be saved (unless especially enabled) canot be re-opened from the temp files. To make a long story short. You will need to re-type the information.
Sorry to be the bearer of the sad news.

  • Itunes has lost all music file locations

Itunes has lost the location of ALL the music files in the library. I have not moved my files so I believe it may have happened when Itunes updated a few days ago. If this is the case, it is not very smart of the programmers! When I locate individual songs, Itunes only finds the other songs that are in the same subfolder, that leaves about 5000 files missing! I realise I can import my whole music folder but this will revert a lot of incorrect track information that I have manually edited over the months.
I would love some help as all the other posts seem to refer to slightly different problems and can never get around the problem of files being in various subfolders.
    Thanks.

    Hey Lhatcher1987,
That can definitely be stressful, but there's an article that can help you find the media you expected to appear in iTunes. I'd read through it and see if that helps you find the missing music:

  • I lost my locator URL bar and my google window at top right of screen

Can not type a new address as there is no longer a Locator (URL) Window at top center of my browser. I can't type the address of a web site, and that's serious. Not so serious my Google search window at right top corner is gone, but if I had that I might find a way to recover the locator bar. HELP!

If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
    * If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
    * If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

  • Printing - Adding the File Location as a Document Footnote

    Re: Acrobat 7.0 Standard
Have about 1000 PDF files --- each with a filename that's a specific number, from 1 through 1000 (the number --- aka, the filename --- is the section the document represents... there's 1000 sections in the project)
Simply put, the main directory of files looks like:
    c:/Articles/1.pdf
    c:/Articles/2.pdf
    c:/Articles/3.pdf
    ...through c:/Articles/1000.pdf
    ===
Am looking to process the above PDF files using Acrobat --- to print the file's location on my hard-drive as a footnote to the document.
In other words, looking to take the PDF documents that are in "c:/Articles" ...and then, to process them all by adding the file location as a footnote -- and producing footnoted versions at "c:/Articles/Processed"
    Thanks a lot.

Do you want the footer to change as you move the files to different directories? If so you can add some JavaScript to each file to the "Will Print" action to add a water mark from text to the bottom of each page with the files location, path or URL. But this solution will only work in Acrobat Standard or better. If you had the Professional version, one could use the "Batch Processing" feature to add the code to each file.
You could also use JavaScript to add a custom menu bar or tool bar item to add the water mark or inset the code on a file by file basis.
