Spotlight menu hidden behind menu bar in Leopard when "Show Desktop" Expose

The Spotlight menu is partially hidden behind the menu bar in Leopard when using "Show Desktop" (part of Expose). I tried using "Show Desktop" with keyboard shortcut keys and screen corners, and this behavior still exists. I tried toggling Spaces on and off, and the behavior still exists.
This has been an issue since day one of using Leopard, and on every bootup. It's absolutely reproducible, and this is a bug, unless someone can prove me wrong? (Hopefully, I'm wrong.)

Fixed in 10.5.2.

I updated to Leopard three days ago with no problems. Today, however I suddenly find my spotlight drop down box is three quarters hidden behind the menu bar and I cannot get it to appear in front of it. Weird. Does anyone have an idea what's going on? Thanks......!

I had the same issue and tried all the suggestions (desktop from expose, enable/disable spaces, etc), but I had some important things going on and didn't want to logout. I pressed the display key on my Macbook. That's the one that switches from mirrored displays to extended desktop. That did it.
It's the F7 key on my 8 month old macbook. Not sure if the new ones have it, but try "detecting displays" (I use dual displays so it sort of makes sense to me... you may not have this enabled if you only use the one display).

Window hidden behind menu bar

Some of the windows have become semi hidden behind my menu bar, im really not shure how i managed to do this; But it is really annoying.
Now i cant move the windows, and thats a drag. You can see what i meen on this screenshot:

Is there any solution to this? I tried GeekBind to move the window, but that didnt work either.

Non-hidden login items cannot be deselected when clicking desktop

I have 2 login items (terminal and Firefox) if either or both is not hidden then after logging in I cannot get the Finder menu bar to appear when clicking the desktop background. If both are hidden then I can get the Finder menu to so appear.
This just seems like a silly bug to me. I looked in vain for how to report this to Apple but was unable to find out how to (I am registered on ADC but haven't looked there yet)

To report bugs to apple, go to http://www.apple.com/feedback/ and select your product (in this case OS X). Select Bug Report under feedback type and include all of the details. As for the actual problem...I have no idea why it is happening!

I have a js slider that is sitting in front of my drop down menu.
I tried the x-index in my css file using position as absolute and nothing...

64 errors is not acceptable. You still have non-working menus owing to the malformed lists and your slider doesn't work.
I'm trying to be constructive when I say this site is seriously overdue for a re-build. The table layout with a gazillion spacer.gifs is a relic from 1990's web design. Practically speaking, this site belongs in a museum. In the long run, it would be better to re-build it with CSS layouts and modern web practices See Responsive Web Design.

Try to edit the size of the page using the sides of the page, or if you are desperate, force quit using command-Q. In full screen put your cursor on the top of the page, and the menu bar will appear. If it doesn't keep "pushing" it up until it does. Hope this helps!

Title Bar hidden behind Apple Mac menu bar

I am using Elements Organizer 12.1 and, for some reason, the title bar is hidden behind my Apple Mac menu bar. Does anyone know how to click behind the menu bar so I can access the Elements title bar?

The first thing to try is to go to system preferences>displays and set your screen resolution down as far as it will go. You may need to try a few different settings, but eventually it may snap back into place and then you can go back to the correct setting for your display.

Menu is getting hidden behind pdf object in Internet Explorer.

This should be a bug in IE, you can try submit it to the IE connect and wait for MS's reply.

Pop-Up Menu getting hidden behind Layers - HELP!

I'm designing with layers instead of tables for the first
time. I've just begun inserting vertical Pop-Up Menus as usual as
part of my navigation buttons and when I checked it in the browser,
I saw that the menu is getting hidden behind the separate layer
below the layer that I have my navigation buttons in.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Is there a way to set the
properties to make one layer more prominent than other layers or
something along those lines? Why would it be doing this in the
first place?

Top menu bar icons disappearing when clicking on Spotlight (wi-fi, date, user, spotlight) on Mountain Lion?

Hi!
Something very strange started happening. When I click the spotlight icon on the top bar, all system apps icons disappear and then reapear.
I've also seen this happen without me clicking the spotlight icon.
I'm using a iMac 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 with 8 GB of RAM using Mountain Lion (10.8).
Any idea of what this is?

Well, I self-answer.
Following advices found on very old threads here (like this), I understood one possible cause could be some incompatibility of the extras in menu bar. I tried removing Bluetooth extra and also the volume controller (that I never use), and it seems, after a few days, the problem is no more present.

My bookmarks used to appear in dropdown menu from the address bar on my iMac G5. I switched to Mac Notebook & from Leopard to Lion. Now my bookmarks are not accessible from the address bar anymore (the line where you type in the website address)

There appears to be a problem with Firefox 20 with UNC paths when using roaming profiles on a server.

Menu Bar in Leopard - freezes for a time - inactive

Menu Bar in Leopard: I just went from Tiger to Leopard (after 13 months preparing!) and all went smoothly. I can print, scan, use internet, bank and lots more. Great!
But I notice that in the past 24 hours, now and then the menu bar in the FINDER or in ANY PROGRAM does not react. Within 30-60 seconds, it is active again -- and during that time I can use the DOCK, DragThing and change programs -- but none of the menu bar items are active when I mouse to them and click. I change programs a few times; then suddenly it's back--
REALLY STRANGE -- thought it was a memory thing at first as I was doing faces (18,000 photos) with iPhoto '09 - but no, not that as now it does it when not much running...
NEVER saw this with TIGER-- saw strange things with TIGER, but not this!
Any comments appreciated-- MacBook May 2006 (original white) - Core Duo, 2 ghz, 320 mb HD (new- works fine)--

Fireworks Menu Appearing Behind Content

Hi All
I have an existing website built in Macromedia Studio 8. I would like to upgrade to Web Premium CS5.5. As a result, I am currently using a trial version which has helped me to redesign the whole website. I am not proficient in code writing and have a basis understanding of the software. (That is why I am testing the trial version first). However, I an faced with TWO problems.
The first is, although my templates were built using one of Adobe's page layout formats (then customised), some of the pages are no longer centred.
The second is, I have created menu's in both Fireworks (Studio 8 then edited in Fireworks CS5.1 creative suite master collection and saved) and Spry (in Dreamweaver CS5.5) - which have now caused the menus to appear behind content on some of the pages.
I have tried to use the pages which look fine in the browser as templates but, sadly, when the content is changed/added to, the menu appears behind again.
I would appreciate any help.

Drop Down Menu Linked to Nav Bar

It looks like the default menu bar that opens up when you click a "my page" or drop down button is layered into the nav bar. That is, if the drop down menu is bigger than the navigation area, it is "hidden" behind that layer.
I would like to bring this menu forward one step, so that it is over the navigation. I can't find where to do this at.
Also, what was the thought behind hiding it, am I missing something about a possible conflict with a browser?

Hi Kirk,
Do you mean how the drop downs do not go below the banner area? If so, it is done that way because of the burn-through problem. In IE a select box (and in Netscape all form inputs) are displayed above all other layers. That means if a there is a select box in one of the portlets on a page, and the drop down drops down over it, the select box will appear on top of the drop down. This will obscure the links in the drop down.
If you don't mind the burn through problem, then there is a variable in navhztlddmenufuncs.js that you can change the value of. Look for the following code in that file.
