Spotlight "Name Only" removed?

I just noticed when doing a Spotlight search that the buttons for toggling the search by content or name only have been removed. This is a deal breaker for me at work when I am searching for specific file names and don't want a million other results. Any way to get this back?
I know you can type Name: in the search field too but the other way is way more convenient if you need to flip back and forth.

I've been fiddling with this a little bit, and have concluded that it is all simply messed up. You are supposed to be able to start typing in the Search box, and you can then get a drop-down menu of "tokens"--at the moment there are two, Filename or Everything. From the microscopic triangle in the darker blue part you can switch back and forth between the two:
There are several things about this that just don't work right. You must type something before you can select one or the other, and you cannot add to what you started typing when you made your selection, but you can evidently then start typing over again--thus the "g" in the light blue part, followed by "gera" in the still active part of the Search box. So in the above I typed "g" then selected Filename, then started adding more with "gera" to begin narrowing the results--but I still got some items that just don't belong, they are evidently left-over from the plain "g" entry, although MOST plain "g" things don't show up. Just some. If I subsequently add another letter, so that I have "geran" then everything that shows up has all those letters in the file name, and "gallery.jp" and "Genesis.txt" disappear from the results. It just all seems a bit bizarre to me.

Is is possible to search in the Spotlight menu bar by name only?
I tried kind:name but this didn't work. Is there anything like this I could add to the beginning of a search?

When I do that, one of the items is "Specifying criteria in the Spotligh…", and selecting will tell more about what you want to know.
I believe what you are looking for (instead of kind:) is name:
Note that there can not be any spaces around the colon (:), so a search for items with iPhone in the name would be name:iPhone without spaces, and a search for "something else" with spaces would be name:"something else".
Kind is the type of object, such as image, movie, etc. It doesn't have anything to do with the type of search. If you start a search in the Finder (File -> Find…, or Cmd-F), a Finder window will open with an single search criteria set to the default of "Kind" is "Any". If you select the "Any" button then it will reveal the different options for Kind. Perhaps that will help.
You can also get a similar window by choosing "Show All" from the Spotlight menu after you've typed something, except it doesn't start with any criteria. Either way, you can add as many conditions as you want with the plus button on the right side of the search criteria.
The "Kind" button will reveal other types of criteria, such as Name and Contents. Note the window has "Filename" and "Contents" at the top since they are common criteria. Looking that over should give you some hints in the future.

I thought that at first, but I have text this person before and had received responses in a timely manner. Its just weird that it all of a sudden removed their name.

Change search options to FILE NAME only

Is there a way to change the search options to always search for FILE NAME only?
I don't know who'd saech for contents every time, that would seem like a last resort if you couldn't find what you are originally looking for and forgot the file name. We have 10's of thousands of files and having the stupid contents pop up EACH time I want to do a search wastes so much time.

The only way to bypass the crippled Spotlight search is to use a tailored savedSearch. This is what I use. The system files allows finding things in the stupidly hidden user's Library:

Mac Mail to Gmail truncates attachments names and removes exstenstions

I have a user that has mac Mail 2.1.1 and is on OS X 10.4.9. Sometimes when he sends mails to his colleagues, the attachments are truncated and the extensions are removed. For Example:
In Mail, he attaches a file called "Heid Survey.doc". Mail sends the file and the Sent mail looks ok. On a windows machine, using firefox and gmail.com, another person checks the email and gets an attachment named "heid". It does not recognize it as a word file. If the attachment is downloaded and the .doc added to it, it will open. If the same recipient checks the mail message in Mac Mail, the email and attachment come through fine.
I have tried this using both "Send Windows Friendly attachments" and with out it.
This does not always happen he reports, but I was able to recreate it with my gmail account and his laptop consistently. My Mac Mail shows the attachments fine as well.
I also tried to zip the file before sending it to gmail, and gmail recognized that it was a zip file, but when I tried to save it to the desktop on windows, it only saved the truncated version after gmail un-zipped it.
I do not know if this is a Mac Mail or a Gmail issue. I am not sure what is happening to these messages. Can any shed some light or give me some troubleshooting tips? Anything that I can try would be great. Thanks!

It has nothing to do with the contains. I believe it's a bug, and if you search translators lists like Systran's, you will discover this issue is spreading virically. Do not know what happens. What is known about this by embattled Mac users who now have to stop using Mail app: the phenomena begins out of the blue, one day works, one do not, it affects every file type (seems to be a problem with the name only, nothing to do with ASCII issues) and also, activating the "windows friendly" part does nothing. My case is really funny because I have one mac account with several mail accounts included, and it began with the main one (the others sent files ok) and now every account is affected. My boss is crazy with this. After a certain amount of time in the gmail account, the names appear fully sometimes, but obviously you can't tell a client, "sorry, you have to wait one day to check your mail, because I'm using Mac and it looks great, but it can't send attchments". Google says it's Apple's error, and Apple do not answer.

An event in one of my libraries no longer has the event icon next to it's name just the name only. I can't view the clips in the event or import new clips. I've tried deleting the event and nothing.

But it does not allow anything to be done to the event including deleting. This showed up at the beginning of a normal import session. This is fortunately the back-up evant.

Did you perhaps mess with the contents of the library in the Finder?

EXS24 read root key from file name only

Has anyone encountered this with EXS24 in Logic 7? If you set preferences to "read root key from file name only" then EXS reads the root key from the file itself when loading samples. On the other hand if you set them to "read root key from file only" then it reads the root key from the file name. Or am I just imagining this?
P.S. if anyone from Apple is reading, could you please update EXS24? It's a bit primitive by today's standards.

Host name benig remove from relative link on some users computers IE 7 or IE8

There are PDF docs stored on a server with and IP as the top level of the URL. i.e https://123.123.12/....
The problem is on certain computer the IP is not displaying when you point on the link and there for the PDF will not display.
Some computer teh path will be correct https://123.123.12/fld1/help/pdf_file.pdf. Computers/users that can't open the link are seeing the link as https:///fld1/help/pdf_file.pdf

After updating to IOs 5.0, my contacts updated in name only, not the information. Has anyone else seen this?

Contacts showing Name and Company Name, even when 'file as' is the name only

We are running into a strange issue someone may provide some light on, I've researched quite a bit online with no success, and may soon be calling Microsoft on this one. Sometime earlier this year we installed Exchange 2010 Update rollup 4, then UR5, after
that when you create new contacts in outlook 2010, no matter how you choose to 'file as', when you pull up the contact in the address book it always contains the company name after the persons name. It doesn't seem to matter how you file the contact, it always
appears with the company name in the name field in the address book (and therefore pulls that into any mail merge).
anyone else run into this issue or know how to fix it? I included screenshots below....

I can reproduce the same issue here. Here is what I did to fix this:
1. Open a problematic contact.
2. In the Full Name field, type a space and then click Save & Close button.
3. Now, go to Address Book, you will find that the company name is removed.
Based on my deep research, I find a macro can be used to update the Full Name info, when I run the macro, the company name is removed from all problematic contacts in Address Book. See the code sample:

This is a problem of overall design. It is not a scripting issue.
NET USE wil only delete the drive you tell it to delete. You will need to know in advance which drive that is. There is no magic in WIndows. YOu must tel it everything.
Bill suggests GPP which is very easy to use and very flexible. It avoids learning how to write scripts and understand much of Windows. Just set the values and they do allof this for you. There are checkboxes for most issues.
Most of us have not mapped drives since shortly after the release of Vista many years ago. Save your self a lot of headaches and use the tools that were built to do this/

Is it possible to use a domain name only to whitelist, or "Add Sender" to Apple Mail?

Is it possible when choosing a seperate portal to add the domain to the user info before passing it to the Radius server?
