Spotlight "privacy tab" don't work osx 10.9.4

Hi all,
I have a problem with spotlight.
When I connect usb devices(pendrive or HD) I go in "privacy tab" and exclude it for indexing but this don't work
because I see the results in spotlight search bar.In addition to if I remove usb device the spotlight don't stores my exclusion!!
My usb devices are formatted in FAT32 or EXFAT, There are bugs with these formats?
how can I fix this?
Can I disable spotlight for all usb devices including sd slot card?

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Select the text on the line below by dragging across it. Don't include the blank space at the end of the line. Only the text should be highlighted.
sudo mdutil -i off
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V, then press the space bar.
Now switch to the Finder and and select the volume in question. Drag into the Terminal window. More text will be added to what you entered.
Click in the Terminal window to activate it, then press return. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. You don't need to post the warning. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear. You can then quit Terminal.

If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

Can't add any folder to the Spotlight Privacy tab

I cannot drag any folder to the spotlight privacy tab or use "+" to add a folder to the privacy tab. Is there any option I could have inadvertently set to have done this? I have tried this on another account on my powerbook and I get the same result.

That is generally a problem if you have ever used any of the Terminal commands of mdutil to change something having to do with Spotlight. You could take a look at this article:

You could try using the Terminal to re-index drive and see if the Privacy function recovers, or try deleting the preferences for Spotlight if you had not done any Terminal commands before. The preference is here:
"/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.spotlight.plist"
Remove it and log out and back in or restart and see if the Privacy function starts working again.

Everything worked great til yesterday. Now no back arrow, tabs don't work,Yikes! Put it back the way it was!!

I tried to reinstall but that didn't work. There is no back arrow, the tabs don't work, they just open up but there is no place to type anything in. I loaded google chrome to use in the meantime but I don't like it. This jproblem just happened..everything was fine until yesterday.

Try hitting '''F11''', you may have inadvertently switched to Full Screen mode.

Form Editor tabs don't work

After upgrading to Java 1.4.1_02, the compile would no longer work so I reinstalled Sun ONE Studio. Now I can compile, but the Form Editor tabs for Layouts, Swing, etc don't work. No response except a 2mm line moves around in the directly under the tabs. No selections appear anymore. Help anyone?

HT4255 I'm not able to remove the memory. The tabs don't work. Any ideas?

My iMac didn't respond this morning (I put it to sleep last night). The power button doesn't work. I unplugged it, tried it in a different outlet, disconnected all peripherals. The support page suggests removing and putting back the memory as a last resort. But the tabs don't release the memory. Any ideas how to overcome this problem? All I want to do is unseat and reseat the memory cards.

You have to pull very hard on the release tab. The first time I did it I thought it was going to break something.
I doubt that is the problem. Listen very carefully for any fan noise from the upper left. If you hear nothing at all, the power supply might have failed. Fortunately it is not terribly expensive to replace.

Tabs don't work in Keynote

I can insert tabs in the ruler in Keynote but they are not functional in the text. There don't seem to be any default tabs either. Shouldn't they work the same as in Pages?

The first time ever an update failed on my I device when installing the 7.02 update. I had t restore my Ipad 3 completely.
Never had that before since Iphone exists. After getting all my things back on, sorting my folders again, I found out that Safari does not work any more.
The tab cross is either greyed out, or, when available and I klick it, Safari shuts down at once. Every single time...
Forward, backwards does not work either, when I go backwards, any site from one of the last visits opens randomly .
As I just have my Ipad back the way it was before with 7.0 I am not keen on doing another restore and start from scratch again.
Seraching in the net I found a lot of people having trouble with Safari. So I think at present I will wait for the next update and hope the problem gets solved.
Unless somebody has got a concret suggestion??????
I am not amused....

My iPad when I open safari will allow me to type a address and it will go to the web site but when it gets there the screen is darkened and it will not let me do anything but go to anouther adress. Touch screen doesn't work and tabs don't work.

Go to Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or if those do not work - quit Safari

Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Jump links to spry tabs don't work in firefox

I created jump links from the top of a page to spry collapsible panel tabs. In Internet Explorer, the link doesn't bring me to the tab, but the tab changes color (rollover)--an unintended but very nice effect. In Firefox, the link does nothing.
This is the 3rd time I've asked this question; I hope that someone can help.

Although I couldn't open the zip file (spry_target.zip), I followed the directions to insert the URL.utils java script code needed to open tabs from another page, but it didn't work for me.
I'd like to get the same effects in Firefox and Safari as I get in IE-8 (see below)

Ok I think I figured that one out.
If your toolbar is hidden in a finder window you can't open new Tab.
So tab only works in window where the toolbar is visible. I would have expected them to work in all cases.

Is there some sort of bug where app tabs don't work with private browsing? My pinned tabs don't show when I start Firefox in private mode.

I recently updated to Firefox 5.0, and I was pretty impressed with the app tabs. I usually use Firefox in private browsing mode, but recently I changed that to make use of the history function. However, I decided to change it back to permanent private browsing, and apparently my pinned tabs all just disappeared. Is there anyway I can change this?

App (pinned) tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data in the file sessionstore.js in the Firefox profile folder. 
If you use Private Browsing mode then no session data is stored to disk.

Spotlight gives no results, privacy tab gives me a list error, What The F?

Just did the most recent Apple updates, (excluding 10.5.2 because I'm using Pro Tools HD which doesn't support it yet) and spotlight just plan stopped working. Finder Search produces no results. Privacy tab doesn't work or allow me to drag drives in without producing a unknown 'list error'.
I used Cocktail and Mainmenu to delete all my cache files and manually reindex spotlight, repaired permissions, relaunched finder, trashed the spotlight V100 hidden plist and still NO help, nada.
Then I noticed Time Machine was ON. I don't believe I turned it ON, is it set to ON by default? I turned it off and Spotlight now works fine after reindexing my 6 drives.
What the frick is up with spotlight on Leopard? I saw so many people having problems I thought I should add to the group and let it be known many many people are hurting with search functions on Leopard.
So do I need to choose between Time Machine and Spotlight? They dont like eachother!

Help. I have tried deleting the hidden Spotlight folder per above suggestions, and now it acts as though Spotlight won't even function.
I have tried to fix THAT problem with the following (http://osxdaily.com/2007/03/22/how-to-completely-disable-spotlight/) and cannot get any of these to work. To be fair, I can't try the Terminal suggestion, as Terminal refuses to allow me to enter my admin password. Weird.
Anyway, two brand new machines, one a fresh-out-of-the-box install and Spotlight broken on both. Besides a reinstall, any ideas how to reinstate my (hidden) Spotlight folders and fix the 'Privacy List Error' I get every time I try to drag a volume to the Spotlight>Privacy tab.
Frustrating having a new machine that won't allow a basic Finder search.

After this week Mac OsX update combined 10.7.3. System Preferences don't work

All items in system preferences don't get saved/applied. By now the dock doesn't appear on my screen, dashboard and spaces tabs don't work, desktop and screen saver don't save changes or apply so desktop is grey. Trackpad functions don't work.
Any idea on how to fix this? Thanks.

or reinstalling Lion using Recovery HD.

"Enable Swipe" don't work and Tablet Layout on a Smartphone

I have two big problems with my own site www.mhgrafikdesign.de:
1. I have different slideshows in my tablet version of my site. I created the slideshow before one of the updates with the feature "Enable swipe" came out. However, it worked well on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1n. Now I have a Microsoft Surface and it's not working anymore although "Enable Swipe" is enabled. I don't know if the Microsoft Surface has problems with the slideshow or one of the updates has "damaged" my slideshow. Please help me! Any ideas?
2. I have a HTC 8S smartphone and if I type www.mhgrafikdesign.de my smartphone always show me the tablet version. Any idea why? P.S. Swiping there is also not possible.

The slideshow uses fullscreen mode and was build with the latest version of Muse. On my Win8-Tablet, it is not working. I tested this with the IE11 in desktop- and in modern-ui-mode.
Next to this problem, I also run into these things:
1. Using the buttons to go forward and backward in the slideshow will select the text-arrow inside the button when touched.
2. Clicking the forward- and backward-button behaves different. Windows Desktop -> slideshow does not roll back, so you can click forever in one direction, no feedback that you reached the end. On iOS -> slideshow will be rolled back and you get the visual feedback to start over again.
3. Zoom into the fullscreen-slideshow will result in strange and not really controllabel behaviour. Zooming in does not allow to pan.
But I am not talking only about the phones. It is more about windows tablets in general. So, content can be viewed in the InternetExplorer11 in desktop-mode and also in modern-UI-mode (touch does work in both modes). But it is also possible, that people use other browsers like Firefox and Chrome. I think, it would be a quite a good idea to translate the movement of the mousepointer into gestures.
