Spotlight Search Criteria doesnt appear

Hi! After the 10.5.2 update the search criteria in the Spotlight doesnt appear when I hit the + button at right, just a grey line under. I tried this in the guest account and it works fine, but not on my admin account. Have anybody the same problem or can anybody help me to repair this?

This might help: Move this file to the Desktop and restart or log out and back in again. It's in your Home Folder Library. The system will create a new one automatically. The old one may be corrupt.
/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences/com.apple.spotlight.plist
It may be necessary to restore your Spotlight settings in Sys Prefs after. Also, this might be a symptom of not enough free space on the drive. Do a getinfo (CMD-I) on the Macintosh HD folder. You should keep around 15%-20% free.

  • Spotlight Search Criteria not displaying

The usual Search Criteria options (the drop-down selection boxes for 'kind' and 'date) that usually appear below the search target bar when you click the plus-sign have disappeared. The space for the options drops down but inputs don't appear.
I have repaired the permissions and re index the hard-disk within spotlight, but no change. Any ideas?

  • Can't get additional Spotlight search criteria

When I do a spotlight search, and click on the "plus" button to reveal additional search criteria options, the space opens up but the controls are not shown. I uploaded a screenshot to demonstrate.
I deleted the com.apple.spotlight prefs file to no avail. Anything else I should try, a cache that could be cleared? Or is there a setting somewhere I'm missing? Thanks for any help.

Resetting my Finder preferences by remove the file ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist (or, to preserve your settings in case this tip doesn't work, just move that file out of that folder) brought back the additional search criteria choices but not the right sidebar sort listing

  • Spotlight - search criteria

for some reason, spotlight keeps losing the "privacy" settings (under the system preference pane) that I've defined when using the standard predefined "all movies; images; documents". example I've told it to ignore certain folders. Works OK, then periodically it will include the supposed folders. There is no rhyme or reason as far as I can see.
I've created a few smart searches which still work fine.
    Anyone help?

    HI,
Go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.spotlight.plist to the Trash.

  • Knowledge Search - Results doesnt appear

    Hi Friends,
I have configured Knowledge base in my system and assigned Knowledge base profile to my business role.
But when i go to knowledge base search i see blank dropdown for language.
Also when i add search term i get the warning message 'Check TREX set up'.
Trex is running fine in SM59 and compilation configuration is also done from my end.
Can you guide me where could the problem be? Any suggestions..
    Thanks in Advance !
    Regards,
    Abhishek

    Hi Abhishek,
    I suggest following:
    1. Access the activity using the following navigation options:
    Transaction code
    SPRO
    SAP CRM IMG menu
Customer Relationship Management ® Enterprise Intelligence ® Software Agent Framework ® Name and Configure Knowledge Base
    2. Choose Continue.
    3. In step Name and Language enter the knowledge base named KA, highlight the respective supported language ( e.g. EN  = English) and choose Continue.
    4. On step Basic Settings enter the Description for the selected language and choose Continue to skip all other steps.
5.Choose Complete to exit the wizard.
    6.Choose Save if necessary.
Hopefully this will solve your issue.
Alternatively,You can access the diagnosis tool using the following navigation options:
    Transaction code
    CRMC_SAF_TOOL
Select search engine STANDARD, mark all checks (Process and Content Based) and choose  Start Diagnosis (F2).
If errors occur when calling the Knowledge Search using transaction CRMM_SEARCH (although connection check in IMG is okay), the problem might be a missing RFC destination for Search and Indexing Service.
    2.  Check the results of the diagnosis check and follow the descriptions if necessary.
    If errors occur like:
    Remove/Modify [ Entry = 1 , Table name = CRMC_SAF_SE ]
    New entries required [ Entry = 1 , Table name = CRMC_SAF_SE ]
you can  ignore the error and continue.
If you receive errors regarding any of the Processes with red traffic lights at sub-entry Check Default Customizing, double-click on this sub-entry and then choose button  Guide on the right-hand side.
Choose button  Next to restore the settings and confirm the warning which occurs. This step does NOT reset the preceding configuration steps, so don’t worry about the warning.
Diagnosis will let you know if all the configuration is proper for the Knowledge base and KA.
Let me know how you go.
    Thanks & Regards
    Suchita

I have set up two users, one for myself and one for children.  The computer automatically logs in for the children with no password required.  When the children go to spotlight and type in a search criteria all of my files show and open up.  How do I prevent this?

Log in to your account, and move all your files to your home folder. No other users should be able to access them there and they won't show up with a Spotlight search.
Make sure your kids' account(s) do not have admin privileges.

  • Spotlight search not appearing in ios7 when swiping down

The spotlight search box is supposed to appear in IOS7 when you swipe down on the home screen or within apps, but it doesn't. When I swipe down, I get the notification centre and that's all.  In my settings- general - spotlight search, all apps shown are checked. Spotlight search is nowhere to be found.  How do I access spotlight search in IOS7?

Tap anywhere on your background...just not near the top or bottom edges...and swipe down. Spotlight should appear from the top of your screen and you can type in what you're searching for.

    Please do the following.<br><br>
#In the location bar where you normally type in a web address, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.<br><br>
#If you see a window which says "This might void your warranty!", click the button which says "I'll be careful, I promise" so you can continue with the next step.<br><br>
#In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''<br><br>
#Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://www.google.com/search?q= and then click OK.<br><br>
    #Close the tab
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.
'''To reset your home page, do the following'''.<br><br>
    * Go to the site you want to set as your homepage.<br><br>
    * Click the Firefox button, go to '''Options '''| '''Options '''| '''General'''.<br><br>
    * Make sure it says "''Show My Homepage''" in the first dropdown menu.<br><br>
    * Click the button called "'''Use Current Pages'''" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.<br>
If this suggestion resolves the problem for you, please click the '''Solved it''' button ''next to this post'' after you log in into the forum. This will help others searching for a solution to the same problem.
    Thanks.

  • How can I delete emails that only appear when I do a spotlight search?

I have a number of emails that are only locatable through a spotlight search which I am unable to delete. They all appear to be unread, although they were read. The only options I have when I bring them up are to "Cancel" or "Send". Choosing "Cancel" brings me to whichever email account I was most recently using. Hitting "Send" does, indeed, send them, but makes them no easier to delete.

The only way to delete them from the Spotlight cache is to totally restore your iPad as new.
Those emails will not show up in the mail app if you tap on then in the spotlight search. They have been removed from the device and will not reopen in the mail app.

  • Spotlight and Find search criteria is missing

When I try to do a "find" from the finder or "show search criteria" when using spotlight most of the search criteria is missing. Nothing is listed under "other". A minimal amount of options are available is I choose "date" or "kind".
Where is the list of search criteria stored and how can I get it back into the find feature?

Most like a component of the Spotlight.app which resides in /System/FInder/CoreServices/. Where? I don't know. Maybe the simplest thing to do is retrieve it from your Time Machine backup or bootable backup/clone. Barring that, download Pacifist and extract it from your install disk and replace the faulty one. Once, you've done that and solved the problem, reinstall the latest COMBO update.

  • Music purchased on my iPhone appears in spotlight search and on Windows iTunes, nowhere else?

I have never had this problem before, I bought some music on iTunes using iPhone, no problem with downloading but they only show up under spotlight search.
They're in my PC iTunes library, and I can move them to whatever playlist I need to, but they will not appear in any iPhone playlist I try and sync them to.
So far I've tried creating new smart playlists, removing and resyncing all audio content, re-downloading from iTunes Store and iCloud. Anyone know why these new songs refuse to placed in any of the iPhones playlists? (Including purchased) they must be on the iPhone because they appear in spotlight search, right?

  • How to recover text messages that appear in the spotlight search ?

    Hi,
I've somehow lost all my text messages, but they still appear in the spotlight search. Does anyone know how to recover them ? Any help will be much appreciated since I really need most of those texts. Thank you.

First of all, it is possible to recover iMessage from the iPhone 5s. If you have turned on "iCloud Backup" before, all messages would be synced to the cloud automatically. You can follow the official guide for more details:
Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support
Or you can restore data from the latest iTunes backup to your iPhone, maybe the texts that you want are there

  • Erased SMS appears in spotlight search. How to fix?

When you erase SMS it appears in spotlight search. I would like to know how to fix this trouble. What should I do?
    Thanks a lot.

It is, for whatever reasons, the way Apple has decided the iPhone is supposed to work. Therefore, there is nothing to "fix".
