Spotlight Search for 0KB Images?

I'm having a big problem with my iPhoto Library.
Is there a way for me to search for 0KB images in an iPhoto Library (say after I do a Show Package Contents)?
If so, I'd love to get specific instructions on how to do this. Also, if there is a Spotlight Forum please direct me to it as I could not find it.
Thanks

Or try Find Any File . I find Spotlight searches overly complex and limited.

  • I have not upgraded to ff 4 but when I now search for an image online it will only show me the first two pages

Then there are seven pages of empty grey squares ( where the images should be ) and scrolling down to the bottom there is a button which has `show more results` written on it, this happens every time I do an image search. I have done the same search using `internet explorer` and there is no problem finding thousands of pages of images.

Finally Ive found a solution !!!!.
Open your browser, click images and search for any image, when the images appear (probably only two pages of them) scroll right to the bottom of the page and click `Switch to basic version`. Problem solved!!!!!!.

  • When searching for an image in Finder on iMac, I found hundreds of images of printers !! All sorts of printer images which I certainly haven't loaded on.I went to Finder, File, Find and Image and there they are, hundreds,if not low thousands of them.

I was searching for an image on my Imac and when I went to Finder,File,Find and then Image, I found hundreds if not early thousand images of printers ! Amazing in one way but I didn't put them on my machine and don't really want them there.Did they come pre-loaded? Can I delete them safely? Thanks

Almost certainly, no absolutely not once you start deleting stuff like this that you think is not needed, eventually you'll trash something essential and cause yourself a lot of heartache.
There are numerous files classed as images, some will be temporary files in browser caches, others system files, others your "real" images, others files which are not really images but appear to be.
The amount of space of what I presume are essentially icons of printers will will be minimal, lets say these images are  5k in size (I guess they are much smaller?) and there are 1,000 of them, thats only 5Mb. No doubt your disk has multiple gigabytes free, eg thousands of times as much free as you'd save by deleting all of them. So you might gain back an extra 0.0001% disk space*. NOt worth the time, let alone the risk, plus then you'll get into a mindset "hmm, I dont think I can possibly need this 23byte file either I'll delete that as well etc, and then "problem......".
Where are the images stored? It may be that at some time you were searching for a new printer and these images are from that exercise (though I doubt you looked at thousands?) in which case they are in your browser cache and you can always delete that through the browser, but that space will be overwritten by other images anyway.
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" is a motto to work by with computers.
*( or, if you really do need the (say) 5MB of disk space back because you are running out, this would only be a very temporary solution and that wont have done you any good)

  • Skipping the search for linked images

    Hi all
My indesign document have 250 images. While I have moved the indesign document to different server. All the images are missing links now. While I am opening the document indesign looking for image links, this process is cosuming more time to open the document.
I want to just skip the searching for linked file and open the file. I will relink them afterwards.
Skipping the search for linked images while opening the indesign file is prossible?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

That preference can be changed. Edit>preferences>file linking (Windows) or InDesign>preferences>file linking (Mac)

    Question
When I do a search for an image I only have a limited number of images. There used to be a ton of pictures on my screen and an unlimited amount of pictures to look through. Is there a way of changing this back to the way it used to be???

Thanks.  So there's no means of knowing whether a text message has been delivered, not to mention time of delivery.  Perhaps I've gone for the wrong phone.  It might do a lot but seems to miss out on some basics.

  • Can I search for multiple images simultaneously in Aperture?

Can I search for multiple images simultaneously in Aperture?  For example, search for 'Image2.jpg, Image3.jpg, Image5.jpg' by image name, out of different folders?

dusan -- your best procedure is likely to be to type the first file name (without extension) in the search field of the Photos View, and then mark that file either with a Flag or a color label.  (You might clear all Flags prior.)  If you have a lot of images or a slow computer (or both ) you may have to wait a few seconds.  Aperture will show "Loading ... " on the left side of the tool strip while it churns through your images.
Then hit backspace twice, and type "60".  Mark the file found.
    Repeat with variations.
Then go to Flagged view, or filter the whole Photos view for the color-label you used.

  • Searching for multiple images across different volumes?

Hi, is there a way or an app that can search for different images across various volumes? I need to locate 200 images for an InDesign file across 3 server volumes.
    Thanks,
    Bill

In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
              File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
              Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar.

  • Spotlight Search for iBooks

It would be great to have spotlight search for iBooks.

    Hi,
have the same requirement. iBooks as it designed right now is not Apple like at all.
Spotlight is not able to find books.
Files are renamed into the depth of operating system.
Like this I better keep my PDFs in normal folders being able to search for the title and even the contents.
Actually I expected that feature in Yose. ...

  • What is the Search for:-  All images/All documents/all movies for in Finder

I am confused as to the purpose of Search for:- All images/documents/movies in Finder. I seem to have documents, pictures and music I have never seen or downloaded, and often photos I have actually downloaded are copied in triplicate sometimes more. I have at times got 10,000 items in my documents in Search for? My worry really is does this all take up memory on my computer and if so why is it happening and how do I stop it?
I do hope someone can explain the purpose of the Search For?
    Jai309

Thanks Kappy, I had thought that is what it probably was but just confused by all the items I never searched for or downloaded. Now that I know it doesn't take up any memory I shan't worry about it. When I deleted everything from the search for files all the photos in my iphoto and documents were also removed. (thankfully I always have my stuff backed up on hard drive) I guess one just shouldn't remove them? Is there a safe way to clear it out without loosing the stuff I need to keep?

  • Spotlight search for text messages not working

After upgrading to ios8, I discovered that the spotlight search for text messages only "sees" my last two texts but not any of the others I have on my phone. These are all active conversations, not deleted messages.  Any ideas how to fix?  Thanks.

I Fixed mine by going to setting->General->Sptolight and unchecking "messages", exiting the function then returning and rechecking "messages".

  • How to use the spotlight search for photos imported onto an apple ipod model MB528BT

I have an apple ipod model MB528BT version 4.2.1 (8C148) Im think its an iPod touch as opposed to the old iPod but cannot be certain. So first of all does this model number mean anything and/or can I confirm myself via the unit itself?
Assuming its an iPod Touch my question is :-
I have copied photos from a dvd I purchased for identifying birds onto my iMac which I readily search via spotlight.
Having downloaded these photos onto my ipod when I conduct a spotlight search it only finds the birdsong but not the image! Cannot get into settings for spotlight to set for images. If of course this is the answer.
    Anyone know the answer please!
    Thanks David

"also i use imessage alot so when somebody sends a message who will get it the ipad or the ipod?"
    Both
You can sync as many ipods/ipads/iphones as you like to one computer.

  • Spotlight search for email

If I do a spotlight search (IOS7.02) on a phrase I get a hit on an email but I cannot find this email in any of my accounts - inboxes, sent or trash. Any ideas?

I have the same issue.  Just received a new MacBook Air with our Corporate image on it.  I recovered my old data onto it and setup Outlook 2011 and Mail but Spotlight doesn't search in either one anymore.  On my old MacBook with Mountain Lion on it, it worked just fine.  I've tried the suggestions of deleting the index files using the Terminal app and I tried the adding and deleting the HD in Privacy settings in Spotlight Preferences and rebooting, but still nothing.
Help please.  Driving me crazy not being able to search for old emails.
Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Spotlight search for Address Book contact results in import query?

This bug is happening frequently lately, wheby I perform a Spotlight seach for a contact that is in my Address Book, and then when I select the contact in the search results, Address Book is selected and the app asks me "Are you sure you want to import 1 card?"
Anybody ever see this problem or how to resolve it?
    Thanks.

Peter, that is not a solution -- try selecting the same contact again from spotlight and you'll get the same "Import" dialog box, asking you what you want to do.
The expected behavior from Address Book is to open the existing contact.
No other application does this from Spotlight that I'm aware of, and after 7 years of OS X, this is still very, very annoying.
I wish there were a fix -- I'm activley looking and will report back.

  • Cannot Spotlight search for term: (1)

I'm trying to search for all files that contain "(1)" (without the quotes) in the filename. However when I type (1) into the search field, nothing shows up. (I know I have hundreds of these files named this way)
How can I find these files? I'm assuming there is something special about parentheses that exclude it from being searched, right?
