Spotlight Search for Reminders: Only references subject line, not Reminder Notes

Just shipped 20 large boxes from west cost to east coast, they're going to be sitting in the garage of where I'm staying for a month. Using the Reminders app, I created Reminder for each box, in the subject line the box number and tracking number. In the Notes field for each Reminder I entered the details of the box contents, thinking that I could later search for a particular item, find the Reminder for it and know what box it's in.
Wish I'd tested my theory as I've now discovered that while Reminders are searchable with Spotlight on my iOS devices, it only references the subject line -- Spotlight ignores Reminder comments. Bummer :-(

Close out of the camera app, double tap the home button and completely close out of the app.
Then do a reset, no data loss. Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
Then check your camera roll again.

Spotlight search for text messages not working

After upgrading to ios8, I discovered that the spotlight search for text messages only "sees" my last two texts but not any of the others I have on my phone. These are all active conversations, not deleted messages. Any ideas how to fix? Thanks.

I Fixed mine by going to setting->General->Sptolight and unchecking "messages", exiting the function then returning and rechecking "messages".

Spotlight Search of Calendar only finds most recent item

I have two future appointments named "Dentist". When I do a spotlight search for "Dentist", the results only show the most recent appointment and not both appointments.
I have done a full reset without restoring from backup to make sure the databases were rebuilt, but I still see the same behavior. Is this expected? The apple support people say no, but I can't figure out why this is happening and don't believe new hardware would fix the problem.

Someone noted earlier that Spotlight went only two months back in the past. But this sounds like a different issue.
Hmm .. just did a test. Looked for a Doc appt in August and found it two days ago, the date it was on before I rescheduled it. Looking in my calendar it is shown in August, the correct date.

Later: Apparently it is searching only the Cal app of the iPhone, not Saisuke -- the third-party app I use and synchronize with Google Calendar on my MacBook. Not sure where the Cal app is getting it's info.

I can't see my Gmail messages or attachments in Firefox, only the subject line, but I can in IE or when accessing from my Android.

I use Firefox 7.0.1 on my desktop using Windows 7. As of yesterday I can no longer view my messages in Gmail when I click on them using Firefox. A window comes up, but it just shows the subject line, not the rest of the message. I can see them in Outlook, and I can see them in Gmail from IE or from my Android.

This is only happening on my e-mail account, My mail will open in Explorer fine, but in Firefox it only shows the subject, it shows the rest of the message in a separate tab if I try to print the message.
My wife was able to open her gmail on a separate tab, and hers loaded just fine, subject and the rest of the message but on mine, I can only see the message and the Google adds, grrrrr please help!!! is this an Issue with Gmail???

Spam rule for long word in subject line..

My apologies, but my last question on this topic is archived (that seems quick).. but
Surely there must be a way to create a spam rule that checks for words in the subject line that are, say more than X characters long. The new spam that is driving my batty with very long single words in the subject line are just not filterable as the content, the site, the eddress etc are rotating so quickly.
If not, APPLE, can you add this pleeeeeease? thanks, drew..

You mean like "Offfice2010IissBetterThannEver.GeetItFfromAuthroizeddOEMOnlineStore"? (I suspect a lot of us get those!) While I agree with you in principle, I don't think Apple should hard-bake an option for "subject length" into the rule panel, since it's really something that you want Mail's own junk filter to pick up.
Even better is if your mail provider can mark it as junk before it gets into Mail. Gmail has pretty strong junk filters. Some providers (especially if you own the domain) allow you to adjust the junk level to catch more spam. You can often set a spam prefix at the server, so that when Mail gets the message, the subject looks something like "* SPAM * [original subject]" - you can then set a rule that finds these and files them appropriately.

It would be great to have spotlight search for iBooks.

have the same requirement. iBooks as it designed right now is not Apple like at all.
Spotlight is not able to find books.
Files are renamed into the depth of operating system.
Like this I better keep my PDFs in normal folders being able to search for the title and even the contents.
Actually I expected that feature in Yose. ...

Now have a look at the the organizer display layout. Just over the main display panel where thumbnails are shown, there is a drop-down menu to choose the sort order. I assume you are on a recent version of Elements? If you are on PSE12 or 13 you can choose the chronological order (ascending or descending), the filename order, or the import batch. Additionally, if you are viewing an album you can have a manual custom sort.
My other advice is that before you use the organizer, you take the time to read this help file carefully:

Respecto a la instalación, repito la lección de ruta es un paso, que puede pasarse por alto, aunque no sé si la instalación convencional reconoce una red entre varios equipos.
No hay ningun mensaje que indique que descargas una versión u otra, tampoco hay o sale ningun mensaje cuando instalas un programa en chino, eso si, al introducir el no. de serie (que no es el adquirido para la versión en chino) te dice que no es válido y punto. No más explicaciones.
Asi que por favor explicanos lo preguntado al rincipio, o vuleve a descargar la versión correcta, en el idioma correcto y desde un lugar oficial de Adobe.
Creo que Adobe te puede facilitar esa descarga a traves de la web "Licensing" con unas claves que te facilitarán si logras ponerte en contacto directo con ellos en tu país, (que tampoco sabemos cúal es). Suerte.

Search for doc's on WIN7 Drive not working

Hello, I am wondering if any of you know a work around for this. I cant seem to understand why the search for the names of documents does not look in the windows bootcam drive correctly. For example I open the HDD for windows 7 and say I search for a text document called serials.txt and I search for "serials" and serials.txt" and Finder does not find.... The document is there and inside the folder located on the WIN7 Partition I am searching. I do have Paragon NTFS installed... Confused.

Sounds like Spotlight doesn't use Paragon which actually doesn't surprise me at all.

Everywhere that I've checked it is not possible to do this. I would like to even do this using the vkb. I hate having to stretch my thumb all the way up just to send a message. It's messaging, not a report or email. Seems backwards. Hopefully some day Apple can add this option.

Over the air update did not come out until iOS 5. You need to open iTunes on your computer and connect your phone to it and follow the prompts to update. Do a manual back before you do that

Enabling Spotlight search for server clients?

I have a mac mini server running OSX Mavericks, and 6 client mac also running Mavericks.
The server provides access to the main storage raid for our design dept, and all the designers need to be able to search for files on this server, but Spotlight never seems to work when trying to search the server.
No of us are It types, so the few possible solutions i have found seem to be aimed at advanced unix programmers, and as a result assume that a single line of code is enough of a hint for us to sort out the problem!
Pleae can someone explain how i can set up the server to index the raid, and allow the users to perform searches?

It used to be that you could manually enable and disable spotlight indexing for network shares on a Mac server. With Server.app and therefore your Macvericks server this is automatically enabled. The process would be along the following lines.
You have a drive which has permissions enabled, external drives may default to having this turned off you can if needed enable it by doing a 'Get Info' on the external drive, and at the bottom will be an option 'Ignore ownership on this volume' this needs to be turned off i.e. unticked.
You then tell Server.app to 'share' the volume or a folder within the volume.
Server.app will automatically enable both AFP and SMB sharing for this new share, you can modify this if you wish.
Server.app will also automatically add an ACL (Access Control List) record containing the special server account 'Spotlight' so it can access every single file and folder within the share, this lets the server spotlight indexing software be able to access and therefore index all those files.
Client Macs can then search the share, it should only return results of files that that user has permission to access.
There is nothing really to configure. I have seen problems where the server will periodically decide to re-index the share again and while it is doing this searching does not work because the server is busy rebuilding the index. You can tell if this is happening by clicking on the Spotlight menu on the server, if it says it is re-indexing then this is what is happening.
