Spotlight searching on hosted Web sites

As usual, Spotlight searching on Web sites hosted on OS X Server is yet again the ******* child of OS X Server's Web hosting, with zero documentation or information on how to configure and use it. Take a look at the implementation on my site here:

Apple's documentation says only that "you can customize the template.spotlight file" but that's it. Zip, zero, zilch, nada, as far as how to configure it or what you can configure. So I'm left with very cryptic popup menus including:
kMDItemTextContent
kMDItemAttributeChangeDate
and a handful of others, coupled with search criteria equally cryptic, such as:
==
!=
<
<div class="jive-quote">
and so on.
My company's employees (want to be able to) use this functionality to search our Web site very frequently throughout the day. But it's like banging your head against the wall to figure out how to work this search feature!
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I want to be able to search easily, without cryptic codes, and ideally be able to see the results sorted by date, relevance, file size and so on, like you can do so easily with EVERY other Web site in the ENTIRE WORLD.
I apologize for sounding frustrated. But here Apple proclaims to have server software practically written by God himself and then it's a clusterf* to try and make it work, especially with no documentation about very critical features like simply searching a Web site.

For what it's worth: Using the Spotlight services via Finder menu on the server works fine...

Using Mac Mini running OSX Server (10.8) to host web sites on LAN

I would like to know how to use a Mac Mini running OSX Server (10.8 ML) to host web sites on my home network (LAN).
I am developing web sites and previously (before ML) I used my Mac Pro to 'host' the sites I was developing to test them out before publishing them to my hosting package. That was when I was using 10.7 Lion and theer was an option in the System Preferences to turn web sharing on.
I have since upgraded my Mac client to 10.8 ML and have configured it to do the same - even though there is no System Preferences option for web sharing any more.
I also have a Mac Mini running on my LAN and its been upgraded to OSX Server 10.8.
Im now trying to configure it to host the web sites I am developing but with no success.
I thought it was just a matter of adding them as sites in the Server's Websites panel (see screen shot)
but so far Ive had no success.
On my Mac client I can simply add a folder in the Sites directory and then open the web site by putting http://myhost/~myuser/name-of-folder and it will load the default file in the folder e.g. index.html
How do I achieve the 'same thing' on OSX Server?

There may be a problem with the definition of the rule to delete the characteristic. If you go to transaction RSMRT
and use the 'check' option to check the rule you created are there any errors for the check?
If not when you get the error message that you mention is there any additional error messages created in sm21
or dumps in ST22?
If not there may be a problem with the consistency of the cube if you goto RSRV>All Elementary tests>Transaction data
and run these tests for the cubes are there any error messages? If yes please try to use the repair function in RSRV
to correct any errors.
If none of the above helps you should delete the run you created, make a dummy change to the cube (e.g add a '.'
to the description of the cube, save the change and then activate the cube, please then try and create the
remodelling rule again.

Can not continue searching within a web site without going out, then getting back in.

When using the Morningstar web site, as I go from mutual fund to mutual fund the new version of Firefox will not allow me to continue. I have to get out of the Morningstar web site, then get back in to continue my search.

I am relatively new to .Mac and I am also using Aperture. I took the link to your site and it is very impressive.
The questions I have are related to your homepage.
Did you organize your own site menu with another ap. and then import it under the "Advanced" selection or did you create it in .Mac? My problem is that I don't like the options for galleries so I am posting my own via Aperture, but once you click on the link in the site menu, there is no "Back" or "Return to Homepage" option! Your site has the numbers and arrows that allow you to advance through your galleries and to the site menu, and your site menu has hyperlinks to your Aperture posted galleries instead of photo links. How did you achieve this?

Adding SharePoint App Workflow to On Premises Host Web Site from App Web

Is there a way to add (associate after deploying) a SharePoint 2013 App workflow to Host Web ONPREMISES. I see most of the posts suggests it is not possible ONPREMISES and only available in SharePoint Online. Below is a link which says

You need to create a APP catalog which can be authenticated by your domain.
O365 app catalog cannot be edited by your DC so you cannot use it.
You have to create a app catalog site on your SP server
Again, this does not answer my question. I am trying to migrate an app that is on O365 to my on-premises SP 2013 environment. Are you saying I need to open the app catalog on O365 and download the *.app file for the app I am trying to migrate and then upload
that to my on-premises site where I want the app deployed?

Hosting Web Sites

So, from what I can see, I can publish a web page with some media on etc and some google ads. But can I put a google checkout in there as well... ie can I host a small business site from there. What does Mobile me enable me to do as far as web pages are concerned???

Go to the Spotlight Privacy tab. Select "Macintosh HD" from the privacy list and remove it
This is a simple way to force Spotlight to re-index your system

Hosted Web site

We are running Tiger Server 10.4.7 and recently had a mini power surge in the school. The server started back up, and we are able to connect to the internet, and see the network, but when we try to log into our "intranet" site (hosted on this server), the web page will not displey. The browser just keeps looking without finding the index page. Tried stopping and starting web services, but to no avail.
Any ideas and help greatly appreciated!!!

In e-bay when required to enter the digits from an anti spam image, ebay rejects the entered digets.
This only occurs when using Firefox, Internet explorer works fine.

hi john, you probably have to go trough your list of addons once (in the firefox ''menu ≡ > addons > extensions'') and disable them one by one to find out which in particular might be causing the problem.

Put your search terms in the combined URL and search bar at the top of the browser (exactly the same as you do in most modern desktop browsers such as Chrome, Safari, Explorer). There is no separate search box, just use the box where you enter web addresses.
And no, you cannot downgrade.

Base on my experience, you only write above code into your index page head, also you could add this into every page.
And about the domain redirect, I suggest you could implement a 301 redirect to your custom domain. That will notify search engine spiders that the URL has permanently moved and they will update their index. I suggest you refer to those posts (http://stackoverflow.com/a/13634333)

Web sites visited aren't highlighted after upgrading to 30.0

After doing a search and visiting web sites they don't remain highlighted making it hard to keep track of sites visited.

Hmm, it works if you reload, but when you go back the effect is lost. Could you test something. Firefox caches the last state of the page, and it may be failing to update the cached version.
This workaround turns off the feature that tries to save time redrawing the page:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''sess''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the '''browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers''' preference and change the value from -1 to 0 (that's a zero).
(Please don't change any other similar-sounding settings to 0 or you may disable Firefox's ability to save/restore your open windows and tabs.)
Then reload the problem page. Hopefully after that you won't need to reload. Any luck?

Content Search Web Part over HTTPS for a Host Named Site Collection

I have a host named site collection http://media.contoso.com which is a media portal that stores videos and pictures. On my parent site collection http://site.contoso.com homepage I have a Content Search Web Part that displays videos from the media portal.
Both sites work over https.
When I edit the content search web part and enter the URL http://media.contoso.com in the 'Change Query' box, search returns the results as expected but when I enter the URL as
https://media.contoso.com no results are returned.
I have removed the binding in IIS to point to http://media.contoso.com.
I need it to be https so that I don't see "HTTPS security is compromised by http://media.contoso.com" on my site collection homepage.
Any idea why this is happening?

Hello all,
I have a multi-tenant environment in SharePoint 2010 server. Different tenants are hosted by one web app.
One content source has been created to crawl the all shared environment. (the only URL added in the content source settings = URL of the
web app)
Crawl everything under the hostname for each start address has been selected when creating this content source.
Now I have created a new tenant hosted by the same web app. For this new tenant I want to have a different crawl schedule. Simple , I just create a new content source and add the host URL of this tenant. With the same settings has the other content source.
After having started a full crawl I get 0 success and 1 warning : “This URL is part of a host header SharePoint deployment and the search application is not configured to crawl
individual host header sites. This will be crawled as a part of the host header Web application if configured as a start address.”
The first content source is well crawling the new tenant freshly created. Could you tell me where I’m wrong?

Baldo,
In the configuration that you described you now have 2 content sources set to crawl the same content. If you have a content source with a start address of http://servername/ then it is going to crawl everything past that address. If you are now changing
the crawl schedule based on the individual site collections, you will need to move your start addresses further down the URL.
For Example:
1st Content Source:
http://servername/ as a start address would now become
http://servername/site1
http://servername/site2
2nd Content Source:
http://servername/site3
Also remember that all crawling must happen on the default zone. If you are trying to crawl a zone that the web application has been extended into, that will not work.
