Spouse's texts show up on my phone--want it to stop, please!
We now have 2 iPhones in our household--a 4s and a 5. Since getting them, my spouse's texts (sent and received) keep showing up on my phone, but not vice versa. We share an apple id (mine) in order for all of our devices to sync with itunes. We have had iPhones at the same time in the past, but upon getting the iphone 5, that is when the problem started. How can we prevent this?
Make sure your not sharing the same apple id for icloud. Your spouse will need to create another id.
Settings - message - send&receive - make sure the phone number is the default.

I have two I phone 5's( one is my girlfriends). We shared one apple ID. When I updated one of the phones to 7.1 I started recieving her text and she is receiving mine. Also when I text here it shows up on my phone as a text to myself and also on her phone. I tried to create a seperate apple id for her phone to resolve the issue but that hasnt helped. Any suggestions would be appriciated
My wife and daughter had the same problem. Make sure the Send/Receive setting under Messages in the General section of Settings has the correct, and ONLY 1, apple id. Good Luck.

I updated to yosemite and now if someone is using imessage and sends a text message to my phone it doesn't show up on my phone but does on my computer. I don't want messages on my computer! How do I get this to go away and work like it used to?

I updated my iphone 4 and my daughter's iphone 4s. It's a family share plan - same bill, different phone numbers. My texts are showing up on her phone, and vise versa. Only to contacts that we both have - ex. my mother I'm sure I've done something wrong in the icloud share ........help.
ON either device go to settings - message - send&receive - either uncheck or remove the apple id.

I have 2 phones on my iTunes account, why are text messages showing on the second phone when sent from the first phone?
it's meant to work like that
so if you receive a message on your iphone you also get it on your ipad or ipod touch
to avoid it use separate appleID for each device
or turn off imessage on 1 or both devices in their settings
but that will not fix the issue that 2 devices using the same appleID will never be able to facetime eachother
the appleID is a unique handle for 1 user only -

These are iMessages only.
He activated iMessage on his iPhone with the same Apple ID that you activated iMessage with on your Mac.
On your Mac, go to Messages preferences.
Under the Settings selection for your Apple ID, deselect your brother's phone number for you can be reached for messages at. -
I sent in my iPhone 6 for repair. I used restore on the loaner phone I was given, and the contacts, texts, reminders, and Safari pages all showed up. My phone is back, and when I used the restore function again, those items are missing. I do not use iCloud because I have no wifi at home, limited data available for regularly backing up, and I have a 64GB phone and don't wish to pay to upgrade from the 5GB iCloud storage. Am I doing something wrong? It worked so seamlessly on my loaner phone that I am completely stumped as to why it will not restore those items to my original phone again.
The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer or cloud service. Your contacts should be in whatever program/service you have chosen to sync.
If you have failed to do this, then they are likely gone. -
When i send a text while using imessage to another iphone user why does my email show up on their phone instead of my number ?????? Can somebody please help me !

Welcome to our family. We want you to be able to enjoy all the services we provide and we definitely need to address this. Do you receive/make calls without problems? Are you able to receive messages with your contacts' number? Are you using iMessages? If so, go to Settings>Messages>Send&Receive>only your phone number should be enabled.

IOS is showing my text messages on my husbands phone and vice versa
My husband updated to iOS6 earlier today and I did it later. Now, whenever I receive a text message from anyone he gets it on his phone. Also, whenever he sends it to anyone I get it on my phone.
Even more interesting, if I send a message to him, it shows up on my phone as being from me. If he sends one to me, it shows up on his phone as from him. And, if I send a message on the thread that would be myself to myself, it shows up on my phone as being from my husband. Our Cloud settings are turned off. We do share apple ID. We share a phone plan through verizon. Our cell phone numbers on the phones themselves have not changed.
Any ideas?Try this....
settings>messages>send&receive
from there make sure only the number for the phone has a check mark beside it.
You may have to do this to both phones. I think this will work as my husband and I are having the same problem. -
How did my husbands texts to another person show up on my phone?
My husbands texts started showing up on my phone. Now he thinks I put spyware on the MacBook. I didn't do this. Can anyone help me to understand what happened?
I have since gotten a new iTunes account but he still thinks I put the spyware on the computer. The two things are separate issues are they not?

Text messages showing as number@vtext, can't make it stop
I posted this in the Android section but realized that may not be the right place.
Day 1
My phone was messed up earlier today so I was sending text messages to my daughter from the verizon website. Now that I have my phone sorted out text messages from her show up as [email protected] We are sending text messages hand set to hand set, not using the web anymore. It is so annoying, not only that but it actually duplicates the messages. The body shows up with (message) message. My replies to her show as both my regular contact and vtext.com, alternating not at the same time. I want it back to normal. Does anyone have any ideas?
Day 2
Ugh, if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. This is so irritating. I went through my phone and my daughters, deleted all of our messages to each other, deleted each other as contacts. Cleared the cache in our phones. Re-added each of us as contacts and it is still doing it! So instead of messages from her showing up with her name they show with [email protected] and it duplicates the body of the message. If she says 'do you want to go to lunch' it shows up as (do you want to go to lunch) do you want to go to lunch. It is so annoying. This continues to happen even after we start new messages to each other, being sure that we select our mobile numbers. We are not entering the vtext anywhere. Someone help me make it stop! This is not happening with any other contacts, only her.

Make sure you have deleted all contact information from BOTH phones, and all messages from each other on BOTH PHONES. Then restart the phones. It's important that there are no remaining messages or contact information when you try to start anew.
THEN, send a text to each other using only the manually entered phone number. If that is successful (it comes from the phone number), then add the phone number and contact information from the message.
It seems it's still seeing the vtext messaging somehow, so it's critical that information is GONE and you are starting totally new with the phone number only.

Assuming that you have downloaded the app already. Settings - general - keyboard - international keyboard - then add the emoji keyboard. then when you are in your text message hit the globe icon to the left of the space bar and your emoji will show up.

a while back i was in a group chat and was spammed with thousands, yes, thousands of texts at once. when i started up my computer, imessage attempted to load the messages. Now, when i send a message it will show up on my phone, but i cant see it on my computer, when i hit send it just vanishes. this is an improvement from months ago however, when my messages wouldnt even send. im running 10.8.5.
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
Back up all data.
Quit Messages if it’s running.
Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following items from the Library folder to the Trash (either may not exist):
Caches/com.apple.Messages
Caches/com.apple.imfoundation.IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent
Leave the Library folder open. Log out and log back in. Try Messages again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
Step 2
If you still have problems, quit Messages again. Go back to the Finder and move the following item from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
Messages
Note: you are not moving the Messages application. You’re moving a folder named “Messages.”
Test. If Messages now works, delete the Messages folder on the Desktop. Otherwise, quit Messages again. Put back the folder you moved, overwriting the newer one that may have been created in its place, and continue.
Step 3
In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with any of the following strings:
com.apple.iChat
com.apple.ids
com.apple.imdsmsrecordstore
com.apple.imessage
com.apple.imservice
Move them all to the Desktop. There may also be a file with the name "com.apple.imagent.plist". Move that to the Trash.
Also in the Preferences folder, there's a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
Log out and log back in. Test again. This time Messages should perform normally, but your settings will be lost. You may be able to put back some of the files you moved to the Desktop in this step. Relaunch and test after each one. Eventually you should find one or more that causes Messages to malfunction. Delete those files and recreate whatever settings they contained.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Messages again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were. You don’t need to replace the items you moved to the Trash. Stop here and post again.
If you later decide that you don’t like the results of steps 2 and 3, you can undo them completely by quitting Messages and restoring the items you deleted in those steps from your backup.
